Fantastic experience: I took extra driving practice — about 12 hours over 6 sessions — with Ricardo, and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Ricardo had a great attitude, paid close attention to detail, and gave clear, thoughtful instructions throughout each lesson. What stood out most was his patience. At one point, I accidentally drove over a sidewalk and ended up with a flat tire — a moment that could have been very stressful — but Ricardo stayed calm and reassuring, which really helped ease my nervousness. As an adult learner in my 40s who never fully trusted myself behind the wheel, I was amazed by how much confidence I gained through his guidance. Thanks to his patience and perseverance, I was able to learn and master skills I never thought I could. I truly appreciate his professionalism and support — highly recommended!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m truly glad to hear that our lessons made a positive impact for you. I always aim to be patient, calm, and clear in my guidance, so it means a lot to know that those qualities helped you feel more comfortable and confident — even during a stressful moment like the flat tire.

Seeing you build trust in yourself behind the wheel, especially as an adult learner, was genuinely rewarding. Your progress was the result of your own dedication, and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to support you along the way.

Thank you again for your thoughtful words and recommendation. I’m proud of everything you accomplished, and I wish you many safe and confident drives ahead!

- Mr. Ricardo

Negative experience: A disorganized and unempathetic business that punishes students for life circumstances — without warning. I completed my 30-hour classroom course with Gregg’s Driving School in 2019, before starting college in NYC. I didn’t finish my in-car driving lessons at the time because they had no availability — something I now see many other reviewers have complained about, especially in summer. Now, years later, after surviving college, a cross-state move, and helping care for my critically ill father, I reached out to finally finish what I started — only to be told my records were completely deleted and I’d need to start over from scratch and pay full price again. This would be frustrating enough on its own — but here’s what makes it worse: Their own website states that students who don’t finish in 18 months can pay a pro-rated amount to complete the rest. At no point does it mention that records are deleted after three years or that restarting would be required. There was no email, no phone call, no warning — just a cold, dismissive policy hidden from public view. This is not just a failure of communication — it’s a failure of care. I understand there are state laws around course timing, but Gregg’s owes it to students to be transparent about what happens after the 18-month window and what deadlines actually result in full resets. For adult learners, returning students, and anyone without a “perfect” timeline — this school offers no flexibility, no empathy, and no accountability. Look elsewhere.

Negative experience: Mr. Anthony at this Crofton location was horrible !!! My daughter came back from 2nd lesson with tears in her eye, and I was shamed by Anthony, because my daughter had only 10 hours driving time since November. My daughter does get home at 4:00 and I leave for work at 5:00 7 days a week. We practice when we can on weekend mornings. Absolutely no need to shame me and make my daughter driving experience horrific!! I wished I read the reviews first. It is true Anthony at this location is a nightmare!

Negative experience: If I could give this place zero stars I would, the two men who work in this office are rude and condescending. I had one man quiz me on American history and got upset when I decided not to play along. I had my instructor his name is Anthony laugh at me when I messed up my parking job ONCE and when we at an intersection he told me to go when another car was about to go. Had I listened to him I would have crashed into another car. He told me stopping for 3 seconds or more at a stop sign is not a real thing you need to do even though it’s on the MARYLAND DRIVERS TEST and they will fail you if you do not stop for more 3 seconds or more. They also told me I could not be on my phone when I was at the office and tried to yell at me for using my phone when we were in the building. Do not take your drive times here. It’s a waste of your time and waste of a driving experience.

Fantastic experience: "Many thanks to Mary at Greg’s Driving School! She was incredibly helpful with scheduling support for my son. Her dedication and flexibility made the entire process so much easier for us. Mary’s commitment to ensuring everything went smoothly really set our minds at ease. We are grateful for her assistance and highly recommend Greg’s Driving School for their excellent service!" Highly recommend Greg’s Driving School in Gambrills for anyone looking to learn from the best!!

Negative experience: My son’s experience with Greg’s Driving School was horrible. The instructors were not helpful, nor did they provide feedback, and one of them was rude. The other two were not rude, but wasn’t helpful either. There was also ALWAYS an issue trying to schedule sessions. I could never schedule online - always had to call to schedule a session, which is fine if you tell people that, which they do not! Lastly, each of my son’s driving sessions ended earlier than the allotted time. Sooooo, not only are the drivers not helpful and do not provide feedback, but then also have the audacity to not allow a student to drive their full time……horrible! I wish I could get my money back. I suggest parents look elsewhere for a better driving school for their children.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had the best instructor, Mr Jose, you will want him for your future teen driver! She is much more confident with taking her drivers test. Great teacher!

Negative experience: Sorry for not knowing the instructors names but I’ll do my best to describe them in detail. There are two instructors, one with with a gray beard and another that is clean shaven. The first instructor (who I didn’t drive with) always seemed to be reassuring and positive towards his students. My instructor on the other hand, was very degrading and mean to me. Any slight mishap I would make on the road and he would call me crazy, resorted to name calling, and when I tried to confront him about how he was being irrational, he proceeded to back talk me while on the road. I highly recommend you DONT come here for your in-car portion of drivers ed, and would recommend you go to Greg’s in Severna instead. If you do however, you have a 50/50 chance of getting either an incredible instructor, or a very immature, and unprofessional instructor.

Negative experience: Mr. Jose was an amazing teacher who I recommend highly. However, I am giving one star because my first drive was with the other man whose name I think was Anthony but I could be wrong. He was horrible, rude, mean, taught me nothing, etc. I wrote an entirely different review listing all of the specific things he did that were bad but it was so long that I decided to just leave it at this. Gregs does not have an option to pick specific instructors so if you get unlucky and get stuck with him, I wish you the best!

Negative experience: Mr. Jose constantly makes me feel anxious and nervous when driving with him. He doesn't give me time to think and gets more impatient and angry the longer I take to answer him. He never gave any encouragement or feeling of safety at all, which made me feel horrible about my first driving lesson. Don't go here. Go to the Servana Park instead, at least they respect you like a human being and don't make you feel horrible about yourself.

Negative experience: I would NOT recommend any of the Greg's driving schools. They take on a huge number of customers for the online classes for the fees, then struggle to provide driving times. We finished the class in June and were given driving times into October. We had to call everyday to get on a wait list (they said they would notify us, but never did). ALSO their instructions have conflicting messages. They told our children different things each time, which confused them greatly before taking their driving tests. I would NOT recommend sending your new drivers here.

Hi Sara!

Summer is the busiest season for all driving schools. Availability is extremely limited at this time of year. Many high schoolers come to us at the same time during these 3 months. This is not a process that is something to be done quickly before going off to school again!

With that being said, any customer has the ability to transfer out of a driving school at any time. They’re not “locked in” to any driving school. They’ll receive a refund of services that were not used and will be given paperwork to be able to transfer.

For anyone reading, definitely check availability before registering!

Negative experience: Do not use this school. Impossible to get drive times after the classroom lessons. I paid $450.00 to Greg's but because I can't ever get drive times for my son I finally had to pay another school for in-car lessons ($150 each). Waste of time and money.

Hi there! It’s been a crazy summer. Things should begin to slow down soon as students go back to school. To clarify, your tuition was $400 (according to your account in our system)

If money is a concern, you’re welcome to request a refund at [email protected]. From there we will send you your paperwork so that you can transfer to another school. You may find availability at other schools will be months out

Should you wish to continue to work with us, give us a call at 301-829-7387 and press 0. We try our very best to help everyone as best as we can. Otherwise, best of luck to you!

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with gregs driving school at two locations but mainly this one, if I could've put 0 stars I would've, I had a driving instructor that was very unprofessional and decided to yell in my face while I was driving and told me I can't drive while proceeding to say that he wouldn't pass me because I said it was unprofessional for him to do something like that while I was driving!! But I don't recommend the African driving instructor at crofton he's terrible.

Fantastic experience: Anthony was a very good drive instructor and taught very well. I appreciate the effort and taught me how to correctly park and gave me really good pointers. I recommend coming here to take your drivers lesson.

Negative experience: The online learning was great no complaints. However the in car driving lessons were very unpleasant and unprofessional. Whoever the man from Africa is teaching should be fired. He was very rude. He actually made me more nervous than I already was. He always made rude remarks. People sign up for this to “learn” how to drive, not to be critiqued. So I rate the in car lessons, a 1. That man gave me so much anxiety while driving. I wish I would have asked for another instructor. Very rude and unprofessional. I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Mr. Jose was an extremely clear and helpful driving instructor and his advisory greatly contributed to the expansion of my driving knowledge. I would highly recommend him as an instructor for other students.

Anthony Morgan 5 years ago

Positive experience: I have nothing but great things to say about Mr. Jose. He was kind, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. However, when I drove with another instructor here, he gave me instructions that were completely opposite to what both Mr. Jose and the classroom instructor said in addition to being unsafe. Scores can also vary dramatically based on who you drive with. So while I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend learning to drive with Mr. Jose, this location could benefit from more uniformity amongst their instructors.

Fantastic experience: My son had Drivers Ed at this location and he had a wonderful experience both online and with the in-car sessions. He especially liked how helpful his instructor, Anthony, was and he would recommend this school and driver to every friend.

Fantastic experience: Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I do understand that Covid has been difficult, and I appreciate you working with us!

Fantastic experience: On my first lesson, Mr Jose was very concerned as I was having my driving test less in than a week. There were several times in the first lesson where Mr Jose had to slam on the brakes and take hold of the wheel. Mr Jose then explained how I should probably look into rescheduling my drivers test. However, Mr Jose explained what I needed to work on and because of that I was able to work on over the weekend before the next lesson. The next lesson, he was quick to point out how much I had improved and he appreciated the effort I put in to improve. He gave me lots of valuable information with driving and also helped me out a lot by showing me exactly what I needed to know for the drivers test. Thanks to Mr Jose I was able to pass my drivers test the first time and wouldn’t recommend any other location. Also, Mr Jose showed up and watched my drivers test which I really appreciated.

Fantastic experience: My son’s instructor Jose was very knowledgeable and understanding. He explains and answers questions even if it is asked multiple times. He makes sure that his students finish the driving hours ready for the test.

Fantastic experience: This school is phenomenal! I took the driver's ed course and the adult driving package here, and they're definitely worth every cent. Mr. Jose put in a ton of effort to make sure I succeeded on my road test. I started out a nervous wreck behind the wheel, but now I'm comfortable and confident in the drivers seat!
