A-1 Driving School

Positive experience: I got my driver's license 25 years ago,but needed to improve my driving skills.The instructor did help me improve my driving skills. Unfortunately I needed more time to practice. The car was very low and I am short and had a hard time seeing while driving. I suggest providing a booster seat for those who are short and more driving practice time.

Positive experience: It was a good experience! Just make sure to call the awesome support team if you need anything, because the website is a little confusing!

Negative experience: my instructor made me feel safe and confident behind the wheel but in my experience and from what the DMV has told me, 3 2 hour sessions simply isn’t enough. 2 hours is also too long for me to retain as much information as i should. i’ve failed my road test twice now and i just think it’s better if you find another place.

Negative experience: Impossible to get driving !!!! We tried exactly at 10 am on Wednesday and everything is taken! Had to cancel and lost $50. It was a great company few years ago when my son was learning to drive. Don’t know what happened but not pleased with their service at all!

Negative experience: ZERO Stars: DO NOT give your money to this company. It's a scam. They take your money, make it absolutely impossible to get an appointment with a driver, therefore, wasting weeks or even months while you cannot get your driver's license, and then when you ask for your money back, they say they are keeping $50 for "admin". If they have 50 people in the hopper at any given time, only one gets the one spot per week to drive with what must be their one and only trainer, then everyone else has to wait. If they get $50 for every person that is tired of waiting, that's a business in and of itself. I guess that's their business model. Find a company than either has more than one driver or allows you to schedule your drives in a fair way upfront.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience! Robyn is a wonderful instructor! Gives good instructions and is super kind. I was really nervous about driving but she made me comfortable behind the wheel.

Fantastic experience: Robyn was my trainer. She was fun and very educative. I learnt well and enjoyed my classes with her.

Negative experience: Terrible! This company is a scam! They bury their "rules" in a million pages of contract. My kids did some online course work. We paid for driving instruction as well, never got it- lost hundreds of dollars as our time "expired" with the company. When I had signed up, I had asked the lady helping me to please let me know everything I needed to know about the process. She NEVER told me there was an "expiration" date to my kid's time. They took our money and had zero interest in working with us when we called to let them know that we had barely used their services (just a bit of online coursework). The bulk of the fees that we paid were for the driving instruction, which we never received. It would have cost them very little to have worked with us on this. HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Fantastic experience: A-1 was incredibly simple when getting my license on time and the instructor Randy White had prepared me perfectly for my roads test. Booking the drives was kind of hard but hopefully it will be resolved soon, just get on Wednesday @10:00am and refresh constantly for about 20min.

Negative experience: This company has got to be one of the largest scams currently going on in the state of Utah. They oversell their bookings, it is virtually impossible to schedule a driving appointment and their customer service is some of the most appalling I have experienced to date. Please, please do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to get your driving lesson scheduled from. I would recommend doing your due diligence and researching the number of reviews that are mostly negative, for this so called business. I only hope that someone eventually steps in and sues them for fraud. On the other hand, if you are wanting to waste your time, money and energy...this is absolutely the company for you!

Fantastic experience: jim and Randy where great for my drives super knowledgeable. RANDY IS THE BEST GUY EVER SUPER FUN DRIVE WITH LOTS OF LEARNING.

Fantastic experience: Jackie was an all around good instructor. He helped with many problems I had with my driving. He always was able to give me a clear and easy solution for the problems as well. I would definitely recommend him to any one who is going to take the road test for their license.

Fantastic experience: I have completed two drives so far and my instructors were Jim and Randy. They gave me great in depth instructions and alternative ways of thinking when I was confused. So patient and very nice, I would recommend A-1 to everyone!

Fantastic experience: A1 driving was a very great way to get drivers ed done. It doesn’t take long they are very efficient. My instructors were great I had randy twice and Jeff once and they were both amazing teachers and got me to the point where i could past the test. Highly recommend doing A1 driving.

Negative experience: It's not worth your money. Don't even try. TL;DR: • unprofessional, unhygienic and questionable instructors • I was told very false information multiple times by 2 different instructors • my last instructor did not log into the system that I was done with driving school 10 days ago, so I was denied taking my road test • scheduling lessons is a huge pain • complete waste of $300+ I had an awful experience with A-1 overall. I had multiple instructors tell me false information about the availability of drives and observations, and about the legality of getting my license. Trying to sign up for a drive is a huge pain. Scheduling for drives is only available on Wednesday mornings, between 10:00 AM and noon. There is no steady time every week that they are posted, which is extremely difficult for students and parents, because teens are in school at that time and parents are at work. I got lectured by my teacher trying to sign up for a drive. I had an extremely unprofessional instructor who had very poor hygiene. He was eating in the car which distracted him, he had stains on his clothing, he smelled bad and he was wearing pajamas. My last instructor didn't log in to the system that I completed Driver's Ed, and 10 days later when I was supposed to take my road skills test, I was denied because it wasn't in the State's system that I completed Driver's Ed. I had a different instructor entirely who told me that minors didn't have to do Driver's Ed as long as they did 40 hours of driving in their own (which is very false). No instructor told me that I had to do an online test before I took my road skills test. I wish I went with a different driving school. This place wasted my parents' money and my time.

Fantastic experience: I had a phenomenal experience with Randy. He is a great teacher, who not only taught driving skills, but also helps me build my confidence for driving. He always encouraged me and he was very patient. I took the driving test and passed it successfully. If you are a nervous driver like me, I highly recommend choosing Randy as your teacher.

Fantastic experience: Brad taught me all the things I needed for my driving and Randy solidified all of my skills so I could be super successful on my test. Super thankful for them presenting an opportunity for me to complete my education on time. I passed my test at Drive Right in Midvale with a 2(a near perfect score). Cannot recommend these guys higher! Thanks Brad and Randy!

Jackie was an incredibly astute observer of everything I did and he taught me foolproof ways to complete all maneuvers safely. He was so patient and he worked around my busy schedule to make sure I passed. A very compassionate and hardworking instructor! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Due to some reason i don’t have car to practice at all. I joined A-1 School and I finished my online courses, both 3 observations and 3 driving sessions with Mr.Jackie Leung, then I took 3 more private driving with Mr.Jackie Leung and went for the toad test and I passed the road test in my 1st attempt. Frankly speaking, I don’t even know how to start a car. All these were possible only dcoz of Mr.Jackie Leung. He was very very patient to me and helped me a lot. He is a very nice man and a wonderful instructor. I learned all maneuvers and driving skills from him. Thank you so much Jackie.

Fantastic experience: I had a very successful outcome. I worked with Jackie and he was very good and very patient. He sharpened my skills for Utah's requirements and I passed the test. Jackie did an excellent job of explaining the details of the maneuvers and why they are done.

Positive experience: So my 3 driving practice course was with Mr Cody, I just wanna say “sorry you are the worse instructor”. I never ever touch car steering wheel before and I didn’t know anything about car driving and I expect him to tell me about driving. I mean why people like me takes driving classes because we don’t know car driving. But he was hopeless even though I asked him, he don’t even told me anything. Whole 3 driving practice he only taught me parallel parking only 1 time. And most of the time he took me to the street driving , 10-15 Minutes in parking skills. Because of him I had to take extra private practice. And thanks to god, this time I choice different instructors and hopefully he was awesome. In an hour i catch everything easily. Thanks you Mr John and sorry I don’t remember his name ( he was Chinese)* . Was a great experience I will recommend this location but don’t schedule your driving practice with Mr Cody. Thanks!

Negative experience: If there was a minus 5 star it would be pushed. Horrible very non informative could never get a chance to schedule drive times online. Just a very unpleasant experience. Asked to be refunded and whent to the one in Taylorsvile.... much much better! Btw you still have to go pay someone else for the final test to be given even after spending that much money with them!

Negative experience: If you want to teach your kids to drive slow in the left lane all the way up Suncrest/Highland, THIS is the school for you! Keep it under 40mph, stay in the left lane, keep her straight while people pass you on the right...you'll be 100% comfortable! But seriously, A-1...get in the right lane - what are you teaching these kids?

Fantastic experience: A very professional staff with a well put together program gave me a great experience obtaining my license. Very flexible and time oriented based upon yourself. Definitely recommend A1 driving school here in draper!
