Defensive Driving School and Driver License Testing Center is a locally owned and operated institution dedicated to providing the highest quality driver education in Silverdale, WA, and across the region. As a one-stop destination for all licensing needs, the school combines comprehensive classroom instruction, private lessons, and official state driver license exams under one roof. Whether you are a teen preparing for your first license, an adult seeking private coaching, or a driver needing specialized training, this center offers a tailored approach to help you achieve safe, confident driving skills.

The flagship Teen Driver Course is a robust program comprising 34 hours of instruction, including the mandatory 30-hour state curriculum and an additional 4 hours of Driver Awareness Training. The course is designed to be thorough yet flexible, offering both in-person and online Zoom options to fit busy schedules. Students receive 5 hours of hands-on driving lessons and 5 hours of student observations, with at least one observation required by state law. A parent information session is also included, encouraging guardians to ride along on at least one lesson to support the learning process. Upon successful completion, an electronic certificate is reported directly to the Department of Licensing.

For adult learners, the school provides personalized private lessons that can be scheduled around individual needs. Beyond basic licensure, Defensive Driving School offers a wide array of specialty courses designed for continuing education, insurance discounts, and specific skill development. These include collision avoidance techniques, court-approved classes, and specialized training for drivers with disabilities or those undergoing rehabilitation. Unique offerings such as stick shift (manual) training, fleet training for businesses, and even "The Tesla® Experience" ensure that drivers of all experience levels find relevant and engaging content.

Convenience is at the core of the service model, with numerous locations spread across Washington State, including King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap, and Spokane counties. The Silverdale location serves as a classroom hub in Kitsap County, while the administrative office in Poulsbo handles bookings and inquiries. With options for pre-registration online and a user-friendly student portal, the process of obtaining an instruction permit or driver license is streamlined. For those with unique learning needs, an Individualized Driving Program (IDP) is available to provide extra support, time, and curriculum adjustments. Contact the center via phone or email to start your journey toward safe driving today.

Fantastic experience: Had the best experience with Mitch as the instructor. He was very helpful and patient during the course. The Bremerton location instructor failed me and then in turn referred me over to the Silverdale location. I was optimistic that the referral was going to lead to a better outcome and it did! To whoever is out there needing the best guidance and learning experience I highly recommend and don’t give up! Sometimes we need more learning and continued determination to accomplish our goals! I hope to test with Mitch in the near future for another course, in parallel parking! ️ Thank you so much! I do want to note that the online course package helped me tremendously than the typical booklet. Totally non-related if you hadn’t grabbed some food fuel prior to your testing Grocery outlet is right next door. In addition, for the driver’s physical exam, wait outside for the driver don’t do what I did and go up to the office on 2nd floor. There are bench’s outside in case you need to wait a few minutes to meet your instructor.
