Fantastic experience: My instructor was Elizabeth Hoelstra. She is an amazing instructor! From the very first lesson, Lisa helped me feel calm and comfortable behind the wheel. Although I already had my driver's license, it had been several years since I last drove, so I was quite anxious getting back into it. But Lisa's support made all the difference. I began my lessons on November 2nd, and after six sessions and lots of practice on my own, I took the in-car driving test on November 26th—and I passed! On December 7th, I received my official driver's license. If you're looking for a friendly and upbeat instructor to guide you, be sure to check her out!

Fantastic experience: This was my family’s first time using Excel Driving School. I must say I’m very pleased with the in class teacher, the office staff and Leo the brave driving instructor. Leo gets 10 stars because he worked hard with my daughter’s crazy schedule and took her out driving in rain, snow and ice. I’m thankful my daughter had someone that understood that she’ll be driving in all weather conditions for the rest of her life and he used his knowledge and expertise to educate my daughter. Fantastic experience: It has been worthwhile enrolling for the driving lesson, and I am very happy with the experience. Jennifer Grammer (Jen), as my instructor had made the learning so much easy that I could quickly get comfortable even with highway driving. Jen has always been very encouraging and gave confidence. The feedbacks from her have been very useful and helped me a lot in improving my skills and correcting mistakes. In the lessons she also shared useful tips and information about roadways, and the road rules, and have always highlighted the importance of road courtesies. Thank you for the wonderful lesson, Jen..!! such an amazing person :)

Positive experience: Unfortunately, we had an awful first behind the wheel instructor at Excel. She was really inappropriate with the teenagers in the car and we have since learned that this is not the first time this has happened. We went into the main office to express our concerns and, to their credit, they were able to immediately switch us to Steve, who they said was fantastic. We quickly learned that Steve is knowledgeable, calm, and a wonderful teacher. He was helpful through the entire process including after the required behind the wheel hours and navigating the State test. Highly recommend Steve!!!

Fantastic experience: Excel driving school and Instructor Gus were excellent from the beginning. Excel promptly scheduled our son’s first driving lesson, always very responsive, immediately available on the phone and in-person. In all of our interactions with Excel, they were always kind and very professional. Gus was the perfect instructor for our apprehensive son. Gus’ relaxed demeanor and calming teaching style put our son immediately at ease. Gus was also very accommodating with lesson rescheduling due to weather and unforeseen family circumstances Gus, in our opinion, is the best instructor any teen could be blessed to have, and Excel driving school was a pleasure to work with. We wholeheartedly recommend Gus and Excel driving school for every teen.

Negative experience: The overall delivery service of class instruction, online registration and behind the wheel time was acceptable, the lower rating is based on the difficulty of speaking to someone by phone at the business. My daughter tried calling their office daily for 2 weeks several times a day to schedule an hour of driving instruction. When she got no answer, she visited in person. The people onsite were friendly when speaking to her, but they instructed her to call the office to schedule the driving time. She called and called and got no response. She visited again, spoke to other staff and was told to call to make arrangements. Why publish number on the website as a method of contact when calls go unanswered? I emailed the business venting my frustration and Ray called me promptly to set up the lesson. It should not have required so much effort to accomplish a simple task. This needs to be improved as it's a business and if there's staff in office, incoming calls should be answered.

Fantastic experience: My son's Behind-the-wheel instructor, Nicole, was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and flexible with scheduling; always took the time to answer any questions I had. It was a great experience for my son….will definitely have my 2 younger sons complete driver’s ed. at excel.

Negative experience: Inaccurate information on their website led me to sign online for a package. A couple days later my instructor told me he was too busy to include me in his schedule. When I was able to talk to someone, she said they’re not teaching adults. After cancelling the course they kept $25.00 fee. Overall a really bad experience, don’t waste your money!!!

Fantastic experience: My wife used Excel Driving School and we couldn't be happier with the experience, the instructor was always timely and did an excellent job at teaching her all the ins and outs of driving in the US.

Negative experience: Excel driving school is more expensive than their competitors. I enrolled my child because it was close to home. One thing I learned to late was that they require parents to teach their children to drive for the first 10 hours behind the wheel. No other competitor requires this, and it seems crazy to me that the first 10 hours will be done by a parent instead of a trained professional…:not to mention who has the time. They should put that front and center in their program before you sign up.

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Excel Driving School was a very positive one. Leo was recommended to us by a few different families and we are glad we chose him. The entire process was actually stress free.

Negative experience: Beware of this place before you purchase any classes! End of June, I purchased 3 hours adult behind the wheel class for my daughter who is a college student. Because my daughter needs to go back to college so she needs to finish the classes before the end of Aug. When I called Excel Driving School the lady on the phone told me that most classes were full until Sept in my area, except one instructor who was still available for teaching in July. She said if you are not able to schedule classes in July you could always cancel and get a refund (without mentioning cancellation fee). So I purchased the class because in the back of my mind I could always cancel and get a refund (no worries no charges). Unfortunately the only instructor who was available to teach quit before my daughter could even schedule a class. When my daughter called and tried to get another instructor she was told no instructor was available until Sept or she could cancel for a refund (without mentioning cancellation fee again). So my daughter cancelled the class for a refund. Yesterday I received a refund. I paid $180 for the class but the refund showed $170. I called the office and explained the situation. My point was that it was not our fault to cancel but it was on their end (the instructor quit and if they couldn’t provide classes in July and August so they should provide a refund without charging us cancellation fee). The lady on the phone told me that they charge $10 for any cancellation and there was nothing she could do. I feel the way Excel Driving School running the business is wrong. Here are the two main points: 1. Excel Driving School shouldn’t charge customers cancellation fees when they can't provide services. 2. Excel Driving School shouldn’t mislead customers by saying you can always cancel and get a refund (without mentioning cancellation fee charge) before customers buy classes. When customers call them and they provide a refund they should let customers know whether there is a cancellation fee or not.

Fantastic experience: I took behind the wheel lessons with Joseph, who was a great instructor. He was motivating and helpful when understanding and remembering maneuvers. I passed my driving test on the first try!

Fantastic experience: Our two daughters took summer courses at Excel at the same time. Classroom instruction was thorough and serious. Their driving instructor, Leo Grach, was excellent. His professIonal approach and quick rapport, great communication, and knowledge pushed them through to test time. Scheduling and suggestions were great. We bought a package and it was exactly what we got with no surprises. We could not have gotten the 50 hours driving experience per student into a school semester. Going with Excel, we planned ahead to take a year. It let the kids learn in good weather and practice in all weathers. And, it opened up a spot in the kids’ course schedules.

Negative experience: The driver was good. The scheduling process is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot even go into all the details, but the process for registration, scheduling rides, and communication with them is absolutely horrible!!!!!

Positive experience: The reason I give excel driving school 4 stars is because although the employees are polite, they were unorganized in the beginning with scheduling drives. In the end Sandie was very accommodating with helping me complete my drives and expediting forms so I can obtain my drivers license. I also appreciate the help from both drivers ed teachers hemsa and Leo.

My son's driving instructor was Rick Osbourne. He was absolutely terrific. So nice! My son felt very comfortable with him from the start which set the stage for the rest of the driving lessons.. (so important for a new student driver.) Rick made it smooth, comfortable, and worry free for my son. The classes were convenient with plenty of options for the busy teen. Can't make a class? No problem. You can simply reschedule it right online. There is nothing this company won't do to ensure you have a great experience. They even let you make affordable monthly payments throughout the time you are taking their classes/driving lessons. Thank you so much to the owner, girls at the front desk, the classroom instructors and last but not least, the driving instructor. You made my son's experience a wonderful and memorable one.
