Fantastic experience: I booked the 2 HR adult class with the road test, as I have already had a European driving license for many years. I just wanted to learn some hints and tips about driving rules in the US. My instructor, Jennifer, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. We went on a 2-hour road trip from Hyde Park to Downtown, where she also showed me restaurants and landmarks along the way. I kept my two hands on the steering wheel as she instructed, and I passed the road test with a perfect score. Thanks, Jennifer. I am going to visit all those good cafes and restaurants :)

Fantastic experience: Michelle is the Best Teacher I ever had. Taught me things that no other driving instructor did. She says I need more practice with my foot placement. I agree. Overall, the best

Negative experience: I was required pay 60$ for a cancelation appointment even my child should showed up and provided the required documents. I don't recommend nova for driving classes they charge for everything.Dont discount anything they will try to blame everything on the DMV. No accountability

I would 100 percent would love to drive with her again, I recommend others who our beginners to learn from her.

Negative experience: Very useless set of people. I failed my test twice just because I followed the wrong thing was taught. Avoid this driving school.

Negative experience: Nova ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY! They don’t actually teach you anything that will stick because there is NO consistency. I’ve tried to get my license 4 different times and each time even when I specifically told them to give me a certain instructor; they did not! They do what they want do! They schedule you and give you whomever and the instructors are so rude and unprofessional and dismissive. The instructors don’t teach by the book each instructor dose whatever and when you try to tell them you don’t understand what they mean they get upset that you don’t understand their teachings. They’ll randomly cancel your session if they aren’t getting their way. I had an instructor cancel on me because I told her she was making my day uncomfortable and they only gave me back 30min of my two hour session. Only go with Nova if you were as desperate to get your license as I was and I still didn’t get it. Such a huge waste of my $700! Down the drain with nothing to show! They aren’t encouraging unless it’s to get you to purchase more lesson; which I feel they sabotage students purposely by swapping instructor every lesson. Just to confuse you because none of the instructors teach by the book. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY! P.S. Refunding me my last payment of $55.00 isn’t worth a damn thing. How about the entire $204.00 because I decided to give your establishment another chance and AGAIN YOU FAILED ME! I have confirmation that your employees are over worked and under employed and that out of all 4 instructors I had only 1 of them used the handbook which was out dated and falling apart. And even she said “we’re low on staff and they don’t care about nothing unless you got another $130.00 to cough up.” So don’t try to act like you’re the best company left in world full of corporate greed. Yall are just as bad if not worse. I wanted to believe that it was me who was the issue which is why I came back but no it’s Nova. So yall could have kept that lil 55 dollars! ESPECIALLY IF YOU WEREN’T GOING TO ZELLE IT BACK TO ME IMMEDIATELY - the same way yall DEMANDED pay payment before even scheduling. And how come I don’t get a $60.00 inconvenience refund for yall canceling the me session at will. That would be a total of $264.00 or because I didn’t get anywhere with you unprofessional, underpaid overworked employees.

Fantastic experience: Jemille helped out tremendously when my son was feeling stressed about making an error in his road test schedule as well as getting him set up for the road test. She was very patient with me and work diligently to get my son taken care of in a timely and professional manner. Thanks Jemille

Fantastic experience: I register for 2hr tranning with nova before l go for my road test and it really worth it. Nova is the best place to train and the two instructor I met were grate people in person of Jeremiah and co. I want to say a big thanks to nova and to you guys. I got my license with one try.

Positive experience: UPDATE BELOW Do NOT use this place. We used this driving school for both of my teens. They learned close to nothing so we had to teach BOTH of our children to drive because they handled my oldest not well in her lessons. For our second child we delayed signing up for his range after he completed the class so that he was ready and did not experience what my daughter experienced. We finally got him prepared and they said it had been too long (14 months), he's not even 16 and a half yet, but he lost his credits and they will not allow him to complete his course unless we pay AGAIN for something we NEVER received. Do not use this place if you are learning to drive. They have zero interest in using safe practices that help a person develop driving skills. They take the money and refuse to actually acknowledge that young people need time to develop comfortability behind the wheel. This felt like a complete scam and fraud all around despite me explaining to them the circumstances. They had no heart, understanding, or willingness to see the safety in putting a 16 year old behind the wheel. Very ironic. UPDATE: Nova contacted me and decided to give me a partial credit towards the class to allow my son to test for his certification to go for his license. Although I did have to pay an additional $110, I'm happy they reconsidered and gave him a chance to do his courses. He was so sad about the entire ordeal, so I'm really glad he'll be able to move forward.

Fantastic experience: Wanted to report that Michele Edison is AWESOME and got me where I needed to be to be road test ready. I thankfully had some experience going in, but she really helped me consider things I hadn't before, and most importantly, corrected bad habits that I had learned along the way. I have obtained my license today and consider myself a success story for the driving school. The website is confusing at times, but the instructors are top quality. If you live around a location and are looking for a good driving school, I would recommend it.

Negative experience: I had a pretty bad experience with Nova. Everyone who choose Nova should keep in mind once you pay, it’s not refundable. Scheduling lessons were very TRICKY with them. My goal is to finish lessons within three weeks because I am moving out. I have 3 lessons in total, they first assigned three different instructors to me each time and confirmed my schedule without my confirmation. I have to take more than an hour to negotiate with them to adjust the schedule. Then, the second time, instructor doesn’t show up!!!! I called the instructor and he said today it’s someone else with me. Later on, they rescheduled my lesson to another day. What a terrible experience and a waste of my time!!! I understand their schedule is tight in the summer, but if it’s refundable, I would choose another driving school which fits my schedule better.

Negative experience: These people are liars and deceiver. Do not wish your money with them. I booked my appointment yesterday on the 10th. I told them I only can receive services on Saturday and Sunday and I want to start this week. This is before I give them my money. I paid the lady and she said I cannot receive services this week. They don’t have any slots this is that busy season? Why didn’t she say that to me Before I spend my money To top it off I login online. I see that they booked me for an appointment that I did not ask for they refused to answer the phone. A lady named Sonia was supposed to call me this morning at 9:30 AM. We’re now at 2:49 PM and I have not heard anything back from her please if you are a wise man or wise woman take your money elsewhere they will give you problems terrible communication, terrible customer service.

Negative experience: This place is a scam. I wish I can give it zero stars. I paid these people my $705 for my 12 courses that I wanted to start this month but now that they have my money they want to tell me they don’t have anything available for this month? I will have to wait until the following month so why did they take my money but now you are saying you can’t give me refund but you can’t also service me this is unacceptable. This is a scam. this is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life

Fantastic experience: Had a nice experience with nova. Had many great instructors including Tanisha, Yoseph, Marquis, Fabian, Donica. Took my road test with Michele and passed the first time.

Positive experience: Five stars to Michelle, who was a wonderful instructor before and during my road test. She made sure I was calm and confident. she has not only great energy but also consistent in her teaching and had efficient technique to help you ace your test. Also five stars to Tanisha, who showed me EXACTLY the route the DMV people took for my test. I knew exactly what to what to do. The school itself got the three stars. They are nice but there is no consistency and not enough information and communication between the people that worked there. When I booked my road test on the phone, the girl said it was on Friday at 8 Am. Thursday night Michelle made the courtesy to call me and let me know that actually the school would text me the exact time for my appointment sometime between 7 and 7:20AM ON FRIDAY and that my appointment could be at anytime between 8 and 10AM. Without this warning I would not have known it and would not have taken the entire morning off work. The test is stressful enough if you know everything and the school just doesn’t give you enough information about it.

Negative experience: Terrible I learned nothing and failed my first time going to the dmv, had to pay more money for a rescheduled because no one sent me any type of notifications to my email or phone for my first appointment. Would you please stop the cap for my first appointments to take the road test no one confirmed it for the time. Your instructor calling me and texting at 7am and I am sleep, the day before I never got a set time for my appointment. So please cut it, I had to pay for a reschedule for something y’all messed up on.

Positive experience: I had a bad experience at the beginning as the original instructor didn’t help me much, but felt blessed to meet Mike and Michele in the end. Both of them are really enthusiastic and helpful to me. I appreciate their teaching styles, as they encouraged me a lot but at the same time seriously pointed out my errors. If you are looking for a detailed style of teaching, they are good fit! Special thanks to Michele, who really put a lot of efforts to get me ready for the road test. She called me the night beforehand and informed me with a lot of details. She also respected my decision to take the test and did give me a lot of encouragement/ instructions and being there with me! So much support and love from her! Thank you I got my license!

Positive experience: Besides being a bit pricey, I had a mostly positive experience with Nova. I signed up for one of the accelerated adult programs with 3 lessons and all of my instructors were adamant about teaching me how to become a safer driver. Christian V. was my main instructor after the 1st one disappeared (also great outside of the disappearance) and Jeremiah was the one I worked with right before the road test. They were both intense, but in a good way that breaks bad habits, and were very encouraging. The threat of $60 fees for almost everything kept me motivated to stay prepared and committed to the lessons. I ended up not paying for anything extra and walked away with my driver's license along with tips I'll keep putting into practice moving forward. Thank y'all!

Fantastic experience: Strongly recommend people to come to this school! The instructors(Cristian, Marquis, and Jeremiah) helped me improved so much, and made me feel very comfortable in the process. They carefully watch how you drive, and throughly explain what to do. They don’t rush you, and make sure you take your time when it comes to learning what to do behind the wheel. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: IMPORTANT ADVICE: As an adult living in major cities most of my life, I never fully felt the need to get my driver’s license. After failed attempt after failed attempt to effectively utilize my driver’s permit (before expiring) with the intent to pursue my license, I finally decided this year is the year I invest in classes. After just TWO WEEKS of working with their instructors, I successfully obtained my license! Thank you Nova! Two words of advice I have for anyone looking to invest in Nova to either improve your driving skills or successfully obtain your driver’s license. —- Number one: GO IN PERSON TO BOOK YOUR LESSONS. This may seem small, but it was something about being there in person that helped ease my mind about if this was the right choice to make or not. I also made sure to ask as many questions as necessary to get to the point where I felt entirely comfortable. —--- Number two: BOOK YOUR LESSONS AHEAD OF TIME! The day you register for lessons, book your lessons all at once. What I mean by this is: look at your calendar and decide ahead of time what day of the week and what time window you want to book your lessons. I knew that Tuesdays worked well for me, and I preferred late mornings to late afternoon (mostly because of rush hour traffic). By doing so ahead of time, I was able to book all of my lessons with the same instructor (Marquis). I highly recommend him because he is incredibly calm and genuinely cares about you as a person. His style of teaching put me at a place of confidence whenever we got on the road. He made high quality assessments of my skills and told me exactly what I needed to work on. The only time I did not have the same instructor was when I booked my road test exam. This worked out in my favor as well. Michele Edison was the BEST driving instructor to prepare me for the road exam. Not only was I sufficiently prepared with the skills my main instructor instilled in me, Michele took me all the way! She made sure I had everything I needed to be successful. She made sure I was confident. Working with her was also the first time I experienced a lesson with other students. Even though I was nervous about it, she handled it with grace as well, and made sure each student had enough time to work through the most important aspects of the road test. When I tell you each of us, including the MOST nervous driving student passed with flying colors, I mean it! This was no easy feat, but these instructors are PREPARED and know what they are doing. Once again, if you are considering using Nova to obtain your driver’s license or improve your driving skills, DO IT! Don’t hesitate another moment, and before you know it, with the right combination of focus, the right instructor(s) for you, and your clear goals, you’ll have exactly what you want! Fantastic experience: I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jennifer Spears for my driving instruction. I’m someone who has started driving late, and I’ve been pretty nervous about it. Working with Jennifer has really helped ease a lot of my anxiety and my doubts about driving in general. Her patience, kindness, and openness to my questions has been most helpful. I highly recommend working with Jennifer, especially if you’re a nervous driver like myself :) She will help!

Fantastic experience: I had Michele Edison as my driving instructor for my road test, and she was absolutely phenomenal. Without her, 1 would have failed my test. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great driving instructor. She taught me many essential skills to be a great driver, and she also taught me things that other instructors had not. She never lied, and everything she taught me was accurate and relevant to the road test. Michele makes sure that you are fully prepared before taking the test, which is very encouraging, and she explains everything in detail to make it easier for you. I have many years of experience but never got to take my test. I enrolled and hope for the best. My driver instructor was super helpful and friendly. I felt very confident behind the wheel by my fourth practice drive. The instructors Jeremiah and Dale were amazing and gave me so many great tips that’s helped me pass my road test on the first attempt! Fantastic experience: Was really nervous about learning how to drive and I didn't have any options when it came to a teacher. I took the Ultimate Beginner plan with home pickup, to ease the stress of already learning something new. My instructor was Jeremiah, all round chill guy who made it a lot easier to grasp (give that man a raise, i know y'all can ). The other instructor i had was great too but i forgot her name sadly, but she was great too. But yeah before the class i had maybe ~6 hours behind the wheel spread over a couple years only in empty lots. Sure it's a bit expensive but it beats spending all that money on Uber and standing in the cold. Thanks again to my instructors, passed first try!

Fantastic experience: I want to share my wonderful experience at Nova driving school, where I met my two perfect instructors: Jeniffer Spears and Michele Edison. I spent three 2-hour behind the wheel sessions with Jeniffer and built up my basic driving skills. I’m the one who tend to focus on details to try to be perfect so I always have a lot of questions. And Jeniffer is always so patient, very encouraging and willing teach every techniques that she thought could be helpful to me. Last practical but not least, she passed the passion of driving to me throughout the sessions and made me get more motivated and interested to drive. And then Michele was the instructor for my road test preps. When I spent time with Michele I could feel the energy from her, which really cheered me up especially in the morning of Chicago’s freezing winter. She is very responsible and I feel like I could always get the most from the time with her. Michele’s advices were usually to the point and very practical, which helped me improve my driving skills quickly. I was very lucky to learn under the guidance of Jeniffer and Michele and I got my driver license at my first attempt.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with Nova School and instructor Mike specifically! I am an adult driver who is new to the US and wasn’t confident about driving here in the US, but Mike was the one who not only learned me how to drive but also improved my confidence on the road. I passed my exam from the first attempt! Can’t recommend Mike enough!

Fantastic experience: I did my second with michele, she was very helpful with understanding all the fundamentals and helped prepare for things that were going to be on the road test. she really pushes you out of your comfort zone and explains with many details on how to improve. Definitely would recommend having her as teacher, I feel like I improved a lot more from my first lesson.

Fantastic experience: As someone who initially had barely a lick of driving experience and prone to immense anxiety, this school/program truly helped me gain confidence in my skills and my ability to be an efficient driver. My goal was to earn my license by the end of November, and I’m happy to say I have reached my goal! I passed my road test this morning! My instructors were Mike, Marquis, Jose, Dale, and Jeremiah, all who were super helpful and worked with me to conquer my driving anxiety and reassured me that I could do this. I want to give a special shout out to Jeremiah for pushing me to do my best, including helping me to conquer the highway, which was one of my biggest fears. And he was with me at the DMV today and I have to give him credit to where credit is due for helping me perfect my skills so I can pass my road test! And now I’m licensed! Thank you so much Jeremiah and Nova Driving School! And now, on to shopping for my very first car!

Positive experience: Jeremiah is the best instructor! He coached my husband for 2.5 months and Ubi passed his road test last Friday! My husband has the added challenge of driving with a disability but Jeremiah has a calm and confident demeanor that really put Ubi at ease. We recommend him for anyone who needs driving lessons. We would've given Nova 5 stars but we experienced an unfortunate situation with one of their other instructors. Nova assigned her as a replacement instructor for my husband's first road test two weeks ago as Jeremiah was called away on a business emergency. However, the other instructor was loud, aggressive and unprofessional. She made my husband drive around for two hours, prior to his road test, nitpicking the smallest detail and later claiming he wasn't ready for the test. Then, she refused to allow Ubi to take his road test and instead she tried to hustle additional lessons from us. Suffice it to say, we rescheduled his road test with Jeremiah and he passed. God is good.

Negative experience: During the course of two driving lessons with the instructor Cristian V. I experienced a heightened sense of agitation and frustration, to the point where I was on the verge of tears. Throughout the lessons, there was a sense of urgency, with Cristian V. appearing to rush me through each aspect of the instruction, often accompanied by repetitive shouts of "now, now, now," while using his hands to indicate the desired action. Moreover, his impatience was frequently sighing throughout the entirety of both lessons, creating an atmosphere where I felt as though he was simply going through the motions of instruction to move on to the next student or to conclude the lesson early. These factors combined create an unpleasant and unsatisfactory learning experience, with Cristian V. as the most unsatisfactory driving instructor I have encountered to date. I strongly urge the driving school to reconsider its choice of instructors and to ensure that future students receive the quality instruction that they deserve. -Kc

Fantastic experience: I am a new adult driver. The Nova instructors are the best. I had two instructors Jose and Jeremiah. Both made me feel at ease and provided the confidence boost that I needed to prepare me for the road test. I also took the practice written exams provided by Nova. I got a perfect score on my written exam. If you are a new, nervous driver like me I highly recommed Jose and Jeramiah as instructors. I passed my road test on the first try. Thank you Nova!

Fantastic experience: Nova has excellent instructors, very polite and good at teaching. I got my lessons from Mike and practised with Jeremiah at the day of the test and both were very helpful. I got my licence in the first trial. Definitely recommend here.

Positive experience: Updated final review: I've had an overall mildly positive experience at Nova school. Here's my experience summarized: 1. The good: There are some really good instructors like Mike and Christian, who are very professional. Also the management was generous enough to offer compensation for any bad experience as an additional free class. 2. The bad: Scheduling is not always straightforward. The phone operators sometimes do not follow up on requests. I've had many instances where my requests for scheduling a class over the phone were not followed up. Also so far I never had an instructor arrive at a 7 am morning class in time, so they should really reconsider not offering 7 am class given the instructors are going to be late. 2. The ugly: There is a large variability in the quality of lessons among instructors. I have already mentioned some of the very good instructors. But some other instructors are not very professional. In one instance, one instructor cancelled the 7 am call around 7.15 am when they could not make it in time. If I cancelled the class without 24 hours notice, I would pay 60$ fine. In another instance one of the instructors who I had a few classes with was not very professional. Their demeanor was very aggressive and would make passive aggressive comments/remarks. I held my ground and would not let them yell at me but I can imagine teens or other people getting very traumatized by this. Also the said instructor would make the students drive in a loop repetitively while being only passively present. I think the management needs to ensure that the instructors adhere to some level of professionalism and have some common structure for classes which is shared across different instructors.

Positive experience: Nova helped me get my license. The reason I joined Nova was because of the reviews and I didn’t really want to be “yelled” at that’s why I paid the fee wholeheartedly. However, my first instructor kept yelling at me and it made me feel so miserable. I felt like a failure and was trying my best not to cry. Thankfully, my other three instructors were so cool. As a person who has always been scared of driving, I’m so grateful to Marquis McCoy, Thelma Palencia and Jerrad Cooper. They gave me the best driving experience ever by supporting me, NOT YELLING AT ME, and being kind. If you hate being yelled at like me, I recommend these three. Also, I passed my test. Grateful to my instructors and I thank God.
