Positive experience: I enrolled my child in 2021. After the class portion was over it was difficult to schedule 8 drives. My child never completed the drives during the 9 contracted months with Top Driver. You will have to pay $150 for an extended month. I was not aware of this. I tried calling, but you have to call on the 15th to see if any drives are available. The offices are always closed and it is impossible to reach someone by phone. I paid $550 and my child have to wait until he is 18 to get his drivers license. Don’t waste your money. I am disappointed with the company. Make sure your child get their permit asap (15yrs) because they have to hold it for 9 months before they can do the road test after completion of drivers education class. The Driver’s Ed class have to be completed before you can do the road test. If not your child will have to wait until they are 18!!! This is unprofessional!!! I would give zero stars because I was ignored to the very end of the 9 month contract that I wasn’t aware of.

Our instructors review the completion deadline on the first day of class and the students are told to write that date in their workbook. In addition, the 9 month deadline is in the contract that is signed upon enrollment and there is a video in the Welcome email that details the entire program. We do see that your teen got their permit within the same month that their class started and that they were able to schedule 4 lessons during the end of 2021 yet you did not schedule any since that time. Fantastic experience: While it is difficult to schedule drives, the reasoning is understandable. However everyone there, especially Derrick Byrd, went above and beyond to make it work. They are also incredibly informative and truly care about educating the kids on proper form and the importance of road safety!

Negative experience: Scheduling drives has been incredibly difficult. The portal opens and in less than 5 minutes and all slots are filled ( not many slots to begin with I presume ). I understand there is shortage of drivers. I once logged on 3 minutes after the portal opened to find out all slots are gone and I have to wait till the next month. Slots only open one month at a time. Wish I could schedule a couple of months out. I never thought getting just 6 drives in would be this difficult. There have been 2 or 3 months where I did not receive any communication when slots would be open. You have to constantly check the system or call the 800 number to find out no one picks up. There is $150 charge if you don’t complete the drives in time to get an extension. Terrible customer service ! I know talking to other parents I am not the only one with these grievances.Hope someone sees this and addresses the scheduling issue. I don’t see this company in business long otherwise. ————- @Naperville Top Driver - in response to your post, unfortunately I did not receive any calls in January nor was able to get through to an agent the times I tried to call. I was extended for a fee yesterday but was told all of April is not available. However, I also emailed Mr.Woods there are some drives available and I should call the number again to schedule. Please help with the issue with scheduling and I am happy to edit my review. On a positive note, the drives and classes my son was able to attend were great ! No complaints. It’s the scheduling and the customer service over the phone that is the major issue
I am sorry you felt the need to post this review. Upon researching your teen's account I see that the first time you contacted us about any scheduling issues was yesterday. There are no notes in the account that you were having any problems and Customer Service did call you in January to remind you of your teen's deadline. Our instructors are always willing to work with their students when they learn they may need additional assistance. Positive experience: This Is The Second Time One of My Children Took The Course. They Are Both Good Drivers.

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Naperville’s Top Driver was great. My daughter enjoyed the behind the wheels instructors at this location. (We ended up scheduling one driving lesson at a different location due to having difficulty finding available slots in Naperville, and my daughters experience was awful. She asked me to never book her elsewhere, just in Naperville.) Overall scheduling driving lessons online was pretty challenging. The lead instructor at Naperville location was always very helpful with finding solutions and answering my questions. As fas as class instruction, she did it online and we all enjoyed its flexibility.

Negative experience: I recently took this driving school. And they are really horrible I would not recommend this school at all. They don’t communicate anything with you. They recently didn’t tell me that the adult program was closed I had to call them to find that out. They are extremely unprofessional
We apologize if you feel you didn't get the communication that we expect from our Customer Service group. Without knowing your specific account information it is difficult to review your circumstances and student notes, however we recently made the decision to pause our Adult Program in order to service the vast number of our teen drivers who are in need of behind the wheel instruction. Negative experience: The worst school I signed up my kid. I bought 10 trainers class for my kid and at the beginning was great, so the pandemic arrived and they cancel everything (ok, I understand that) so after a couple months they returned the class and never send me an email to tell me the class had start again. I only found out after I saw the car from the school at the street and I called and askEd if the school was open, the lady told me yeah more than a month ago, so I tried to schedule class for my kid because the permit was near to expire and they made it complicated. After so much work my kid finally has a schedule, in the mean time my kid had an accident Saturday with her foot, so I called Monday morning the school and they charge me for cancel class because was it less than 48 hours, so how was that an accident! Still if I don’t agree I paid for it, and when my kid’s foot was better I called to schedule class and they didn’t have anything available. The worst customer service I‘ve experienced. Don’t recommend for anyone!

Negative experience: Well, I learned how to drive. Just got scared half to death in the process. The curriculum is built to scare you into being a safe driver. The instructors at this location are nice but top driver as a whole is the problem.
As stated in our curriculum, we do not believe in the “scared-straight” approach when it comes to Driver Education. That being said it is extremely important that we discuss and educate our students on the unfortunate reality that motor vehicle collisions, specifically reckless and distracted driving related collisions, are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States. While we are happy that you learned to drive, we do apologize if you were upset by any of the content of our course. Negative experience: Worst experience ever, spent over 500$ with them and still did not pass!!! They did not even try to reach out to me to offer more classes and to take the test again for at a discount rate!! Or didn't wanna give me any type of reimbursement!! Fantastic experience: I was so glad to have chosen Top Driver! The entire team was so professional and understood my concerns and helped me to attain the drivers license. Aside I must say I was lucky to have John Gauss as my instructor who was very knowledgeable, patient and kept motivating me. He made sure I cleared my tests on my first attempt itself.
