Fantastic experience: I had the best experience with my Top Driver instructor, Miriam. She was both my in-class teacher and my behind-the-wheel driving instructor, and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. In class, she explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and remember. She broke things down step by step and always made sure the important details stuck. Miriam also made the classroom environment comfortable—she was patient, kind, and made learning about driving laws and safety way less stressful than I expected. When it came to my actual drives, Miriam gave me amazing feedback. She never just pointed out what I needed to fix—she explained why it was important and gave me tips that actually worked. She made me feel confident behind the wheel and helped me improve every single time we drove. Even when I made mistakes, she stayed calm and encouraging, which really helped me stay focused and not get nervous. Beyond just teaching me how to drive, Miriam made a positive impact on how I look at things in general. She taught me how to stay calm, think ahead, and prepare for difficult situations, both on the road and in life. That kind of guidance made me a more confident and responsible driver, and it’s something I’ll carry with me even outside of driving. Overall, Miriam made learning how to drive such a positive experience. She’s knowledgeable, supportive, and truly cares about her students doing well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone starting Top Driver—she makes the whole process easier, less stressful, and actually enjoyable

Fantastic experience: My teacher Mr Kevin was amazing and helped me understand things that confused me. My instructor Mr Hiro is really nice and helped me with guidance that made me a better driver

Positive experience: Saw a driver supposedly trained by Top Driver (see sticker on the photo) today and I must say “disappointed in the quality of received education”. The guy confidently rolled right up onto 4 parking spots and walked out, so I guess the education lacks in spatial awareness. Anyway, obviously the guy drove himself there, so perhaps proficient enough to get around, and clearly driver confidence building is good in the classes, just lacks the “little things”, thus the 3 stars obviously instead of less.

Fantastic experience: My daughter’s instructor Mr. Kevin was one of the best teachers she has ever had including both in class and behind the wheel lessons. She says “he had a great sense of humor that made every lesson fun and helped ease my nerves behind the wheel. Not only was he knowledgeable and clear in his instructions, but he also made each session interactive by asking questions and involving me in every decision. He was patient, encouraging, and always gave helpful tips that made complex maneuvers feel simple.” Thanks to his engaging teaching style and support, she quickly gained the confidence and skills needed to become a safe driver.

Negative experience: Scheduling driving lessons is impossible, they never have open spots - not flexible at all….

Fantastic experience: Our Twins just finished the program at Top Driver in BG. The program was very well organized and the kids truly did learn what they needed to and Hero was an amazing teacher for behind the wheel. He was patient and taught them everything they needed to learn.

Negative experience: Left message 8 days and have not heard back. Edit: I have emailed you about this issue. It has yet to be resolved almost 3 weeks later. Left multiple messages for Ralph the regional manager.

Fantastic experience: My son Parker really enjoyed Top Driver. All the instructors were kind, courteous and professional. Special thanks to Kevin Humiston on a great job. I would definitely recommend Top Driver.

Negative experience: No organization with the on wheels classes it's a nightmare find a open everything is booked 1hr a month if you lucky it's not enough for a kid who want to learn how to drive I don't recommend this place specially if you schedule with Miriam she is so rude she said my son has to drive a less 5 hr before on other class when he was driving for the first time and expected that he has to drive perfectly so what it's the point to pay $600 if I have to teach my son how to drive

Fantastic experience: I had Mr. Hero for a couple of my in-vehicle lessons. He was fantastic! His feedback was specific, insightful, and most importantly helpful. I’ve become a comfortable and confident driver through my 10 in-vehicle lessons. I’m happy I chose Top driver at Buffalo Grove !

Positive experience: I enjoyed the classes more than I thought I would and I really liked my instructor, Kevin, because he would try and make the class more fun and more interesting. For my in car appointments almost all of them were with Mr. Hiro, who I really enjoyed as my instructor. He was both very helpful and a nice person to talk to. Overall all the staff I met were nice, and I learned a lot.

Negative experience: Avoid this driving school at all costs. It is nearly impossible to book a lesson, and if you don't book in time, you will pay extra for each class. I didn't check initially, and when the school requested it, they didn’t provide us with the certificate of completion. When I asked for it later, they said we had to pay another $150 because time had passed. They also failed to report my son's 8 driving lessons to the DMV. When I called, they said it would take 20 days for the DMV to receive the information and that I would receive a copy as well. So far, nothing has been sent to me.

Fantastic experience: Sending my daughter to Top Driver in Buffalo Grove was an excellent choice. IN CLASS lessons ran smoothly. Always on time and learned what she needed. Very organized! IN CAR lessons were easy to schedule online and we loved booking with instructor Fonda Ginsburg. She was very knowledgeable and sweet. Fonda makes these new drivers feel comfortable behind the wheel. She teaches them how to be safe drivers while enjoying the experience. We also were able to pay an extra fee and do the Drivers test there with Fonda instead of the DMV!!! So much faster. Highly Recommend TOP DRIVER in Buffalo Grove

Fantastic experience: Nice learning space for teen drivers.

Positive experience: Scheduling driving lessons is a pain. Schedule is released once a month and gets filled up very quickly, especially for this location. Edited after a business response is posted: I will clarify - out of 6 driving lessons my daughter had to take, I was only able to schedule 2 classes at the BG location. The other four had to be elsewhere, which is much less convenient. Even then, I was not able to schedule anything for a weekend. Also, you cannot schedule all 6 lessons ( or more) in advance, as availability calendar shows only a month worth of dates and you have to space classes by two weeks. Which means that you have to go through an available slot hunting process a few times. New dates are released on a specific day of the month for each location, but for BUffalo Grove everything was booked solid on that same day at least three months in a row that I tried. There was not much to chose from for other locations in a 15 mile radius either. Sounds like more driving instructors/ classes need to be added and booking in advance needs to be supported.

Negative experience: Choose a different company. Do your research before choosing this company, this is a terrible company managed horribly. As well as the instructors being subpar you can get a safer experience at many other locations for a less expensive price too.

Fantastic experience: I’m glad that I took this class and am very grateful that it will help me get my license soon. My in car lessons with Mr Hiro were amazing and very enjoyable. He made the experience fun and I learned a lot about driving and I am glad that I had Mr Hiro as my in-car instructor. This class has taught me many things and I look forward to using my knowledge on the drivers license test and getting my license.

Negative experience: Business time error

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my classes here! I took my overall class at a different location, but the driving lessons and observations were at this location. The instructors I had were extremely nice and overall helped me become more comfortable with driving! I was scared beforehand to drive, but now I am up for it. I had the package with 6 hours of driving and 6 hours of observation and I still felt like I learned a lot.

Fantastic experience: Ms. Rodriguez was the absolute best she help me cover so many new things and was so funny as well. She made the car ride so much more enjoyable and made learning fun. I want her as my mom she has the bubbliest personality and i feel so confident and comfortable when driving with her. I love u Ms. Rodriguez

Fantastic experience: Miss Rodriguez was one of my favorite instructors she was very funny and social and I felt very comfortable around her. She helped me review so much and I understand way more and feel like a better and safe driver. I would love to have her as my instructor again!

Fantastic experience: We participated in the Top Driver Specialized Education Program, which was developed to meet the needs of students with executive functioning difficulties (such as, but not limited to, ADHD and autism). Not only was the curriculum individually tailored to the student's needs, but we also (as part of the program) had the same instructor throughout. Huge help for kids with anxiety or other concerns! A huge thank you to Ms. May Sandiego and the Top Driver team - Ms. Sandiego was patient, encouraging and supportive, while still holding the student to high standards. If your child needs extra support learning to drive, this is the program for you!

Fantastic experience: Top Driver is the best place to learn how to drive, and I say this from my own experience. I was very nervous at first and didn’t feel confident at all, but now I can tell how much I’ve improved and feel prepared to get my license. Although it does come with practice, I would say the lessons had a great role in helping me get to this level because all the instructors are fun and kind, making students comfortable when learning. I’d like to mention instructor Hiro in particular, thank you so much for the teaching!

Fantastic experience: My daughter is driving instructors were both excellent. Very personable and professional. Her experience was just over the top. She was smiling at the end of every lesson. And she learned very practical skills that we did not think of Addressing on our own. Excellent communication while setting up the lesson and updates. Highly highly recommend.

Positive experience: As a former student of Top Driver I can confidently say that this driving school is the best there is. Even though the requirement is 30 hours of classroom time, it did not feel like it. I had Tracy Murphy as a driving instructor and classroom teacher. Her stories made the class feel connected to her and each other, excited to learn, and ready for the road. She is certainly knowledgeable in her career and there is no one better suited to do so. I highly recommend this school for people who want to learn the rules of the road and get on track to earn their license. When enrolling, whether it be online or in person, ask for Tracy Murphy for classroom time and driving. You won't regret it.

Negative experience: Awful experience. Classroom was dirty. Teacher had no idea how to teacher. Got charged hidden fees. Driving teacher was late every single time, and didn't show up once. He also made me drive through a McDonalds for himself.
