Fantastic experience: I did my permit with James in Auburn and endorsement in Silverdale. I had a blast learning both the theory and practical skills for riders. The instructors' main focus was on giving us the skills and knowledge to be safe riders, and that is what they did. They knew the class was just a brief interaction, so they gave us the basic rules and, most importantly, the resources to practice in our everyday riding. I have been on the road for a year, and the skills I have learned have saved me from what would have been a bad accident. If you have a passion for riding or want to try it out as a new hobby, start with this school to learn the basics.

Positive experience: Not a great training resource. Nothing in the classroom time helps with the written test. You either know it coming into the course, or you will fail the written test. The course time was 5 hours consisting of 45 minutes of useful training.time. Not all the company problem. The state passed all testing off to the training companies.

Fantastic experience: James was a great instructor, learned a different approach to what I was taught learning on dirt bikes, road and asphalt is a bit different, braking in corners was new instead of throttling through, thank you for the experience.

Fantastic experience: On August 5, 2024, I took my Endorsement Retest in Silverdale with Seth, my instructor / Examiner. Please pass on to him that he was excellent. He was so patient, respectful and polite. And, we shared some motorcycle history stories. It was a fun day and he made it a very enjoyable day. Please give him a raise. Blessings to you all for your commitment and advancement of motorcycle knowledge and safety. Thank you again, Seth, and stay safe and healthy. Blessings, Charlie Brown....Gig Harbor, WA

Fantastic experience: Seth is a great instructor! I loved their 3-wheel course. Definitely recommend, but choose instructors wisely. I did 3 different courses with them. All the male instructors there were awesome, but avoid the female instructor (Misha); I still have PTSD after her. I’ve heard similar experiences from other girls, so I’m surprised she is still there.

Fantastic experience: Dan, Bret, and Cassie are fantastic instructors. They are passionate about riding, teaching, and making sure everyone has the tools they need to be successful and safe. I took the beginners permit course which includes the written and riding tests, and I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Jim was awesome! Super friendly and has funny stories to tell about his many experiences on the road, which helped a what could have been boring class more fun. He is patient and kind, especially with beginners such as myself. Several practice runs of various skills before the final test helped a lot. Thanks, Jim!

Fantastic experience: Got my permit here and it was a great experience. I had no experience with motorcycles or manual cars and still passed on the first try. If you pay attention, take their comments, and instruction seriously you will learn a lot and pass. Saw one comment stating class let out early so wanted to address that. The first day let out an hour early, but it was like 90 degrees so that wasn’t an issue. On the second day we ran over by 30-40 minutes so it roughly balanced out.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience in the Kickstart class with Bret! 2 weeks later I took the permit course with Seth and Bret, they made the class fun, I learned a lot from them, they helped calm my nerves, and made me feel more comfortable on the bike then I thought I would be!! I highly recommend these courses for beginner riders!

Fantastic experience: Took the endorsement program at Silverdale location. Gregory was absolutely fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable and informative and fun. The instructors from my permit class prior to this were equally fantastic! It's a great environment to learn within. They are all very positive and they want you to succeed. Unfortunately, I didn't make my endorsement this time... But I will be back! Just a great group of knowledgeable people to learn from. Thank you:)

Fantastic experience: Amazing instructors! Did my permit and endorsement here at Silverdale. Dan did a great job teaching the endorsement class

Nick Rohleder 1 year ago

Positive experience: The class was pretty good. My expectation going into the class was that we would be learning a lot of Washington state driving regulations for motorcycles and I assumed that's what was going to be on the test. There were a handful of questions about regulations for motorcycles but it seemed more like a written test on best practices for motorcyclists. I'm docking one star because we were let out of riding class multiple times, that was about 2 hours of riding time I didn't get to take advantage of. The course was $325 and I would have loved to ride for two more hours. I think the riding courses shouldn't let out early, or the cost of the program should decrease.

Fantastic experience: The instructor (James Winston) is very knowledgeable, and extremely patient with young new riders. Instructions were explained clearly, shown clearly, and at time explained again in detail so there was zero misunderstanding. He is a pleasure to work with, and I wish him and you all the best. I will definitely be sending every to your company..

Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of taking the endorsement course yesterday and the best part was our instructor, James Winston. I thought he was a very good instructor who was able to very clearly communicate the class material and was incredibly patient with newer and maybe even difficult students. He has tons of personal experience and was able to relate that to us in terms applicable to our experience level. If you're going to take a class, make sure he is listed as one of the instructors!

Fantastic experience: I just took the WMST Endorsement Class lead by James Winston. What a phenomenal experience! He clearly has a passion to share his experience and knowledge to help promote generations of safe riders on the road. He did a great job explaining principles, helped us visualize them on a dry board as well as execute the right (and wrong) way out on the range. He was nice, funny and respectful to all. I’m excited to take what I learned and continue to grow as a safe knowledgeable motorcycle rider. Thanks Jim!

Fantastic experience: Had a blast taking the beginner permit course with Cindy! I've been dirt biking a few times prior but needed help with drills focused on slow speed clutch/throttle control as well as counter steering and counter balancing. I learned so much over two day course and feel like a much more confident rider. Cindy is a very knowledgeable and approachable instructor! Highly recommend to anyone interested in learning to ride and gain confidence on the road.

Fantastic experience: I know that the class options are kind of expensive compared to just taking the tests, but it's worth every penny. I did my permit class with Eric and Cindy, and my endorsement with Greg and Cindy. Each instructor is knowledgeable, patient, and has great character that keeps you fully engaged in the coursework. Make sure you listen to what they tell you, because it is life saving information. I look forward to taking the advanced class next spring.

Fantastic experience: This was a really great class to take. I learned a lot, and the instructor - Herb- was really responsive and helpful throughout the training class - the class started promptly at 8 am, so be sure to be a little early /on time each day. The bikes that they had provided were nice and modern. The site was easy to find as long as you followed the directions, and all in all it was a really good experience. Make sure you listen to the lecture portion of the class, and read the book during the time provided, and you will do great!!! Also if you have any questions feel free to ask them no question is too dumb, and the instructor answered all of my questions, and they helped coach me during the practice rides to improve my riding ability. I feel like I am a better and safer rider due to this class.

Fantastic experience: Took the course this weekend with Cyndi and Eric. It was such a fun and pleasant learning experience! Fantastic experience: I took this course last weekend and had a great experience. The instructors were kind and very thorough. I appreciated that they took the time to coach us one on one as needed. I opted to use one of their practice scooters for the course, rather than a motorcycle, as I intend to buy a Vespa and I loved that they could accommodate that. I would recommend to others looking for a beginner permit course!!

Fantastic experience: Got the endorsement done with Dan who’s a great instructor and knows what he’s talking about. Good teacher willing to help those that needed the extra guidance on what needed to be done

Nick 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I took the Intermediate motorcycle safety course, and the instructor (Cynthia) was great. Very patient, utilizes a positive reinforcement approach to teaching, and when I struggled on the u-turn portion of the class, she worked it out so I could get a bit of extra practice without taking away from the other people in the class. I feel like I learned a lot, and and I did pass the written and skills tests. I also feel like I'm very aware what techniques I need to practice before I attempt the endorsement test, how to go about practicing. Definitely plan to finish up with the Endorsement-level class with WMST, and hopefully with Cynthia. Classes fill up fast, so we'll see how the scheduling works out.

Fantastic experience: I took the BRC 2-day course with testing. I had not ridden in 25 years and lost my endorsement while moving around different states. On-line registration was easy and provided good info. The class was taught by Heather and Cynthia, and they were great instructors - communicated clearly, checked with everyone to see if they had questions, demonstrated everything first, and injected some humor as well. When I told them I was having problems with one move (u-turn) they took the time to give me personal advice which enabled to me to only miss 2 points on the skills test overall. They also did everything they could with those who did have problems with the test, so that they can still try again and be successful in the near future. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I took the BRC (Basic Riders Course) at the end of January, and it was amazing (see an earlier review I left)! I went back at the end of March for the IRT (Intermediate Rider Training), and it was also a great experience. Below is my review, therefore, of the IRT. Why the IRT? I decided to do the IRT because, even though it is a permit-qualifying course and I already earned that two months ago, I wanted additional training to boost my confidence before returning for the endorsement test. The Pros: The Instructor: Just as expected, the instructor (Dan) was very patient, student-focused, and knowledgeable. Getting feedback from him was also encouraging. For example, in a quick stop practice run, I did multiple things wrong. At our debrief, he asked, “So, tell me what went wrong.” I stated something about not downshifting properly, and he smiled and said, “That may be true, but you also locked up your rear wheel. However, you did a great job with it as you just rode it out and didn’t crash. Well done!” I actually laughed and smiled because, even though I had done everything wrong, I learned from my mistake and realized I had overcome my fear of my rear wheel locking up in one fell swoop. On to the next positive item! Efficiency: I found the IRT course to be run efficiently and conscientiously. Case in point, the motorcycles were already pulled out and ready to go by the time we students arrived. Pacing: There was only one exercise where I would have wanted a bit more time. Otherwise, each exercise was sufficient in length to give me more confidence and build my skills. In fact, the instructor went over time quite a bit to make sure we had as much practice as he felt we needed. I really appreciated that! It made me feel like he was truly there for us and not just there to earn a paycheck. Community: Finally, one of the things that I really appreciated was that, even though I was the only girl in my course, I never felt like an outsider. The instructor included me in group conversations and even took the time to chat with me separately while he set up cones. The other class members also included me in their conversations, and it was great learning about and from each other. The Cons: I always think the best reviews are ones that do not ignore the cons just because the experience is great and worthwhile. I feel this course was well worth the money, but below are some things that I think could be improved. My primary critique is limited weekend office hours and limited communication. Due to COVID, the classroom portion of the courses are on Zoom. Long story short, I logged in 10 minutes early and 30 minutes went by before being let into the class due to technical difficulties. The instructor apologized and explained the issue, but I thought it odd that there had been no communication via email, text, etc. to let us know about the technical difficulties. After all, the registration form requires both email and phone number. The only other con was not something I experienced myself and, in all fairness, was something the instructor dealt with quickly. One of the other students was on a nice bike, but it was acting up a bit. The instructor, knowing this, kept in touch with the student, and shortly into the riding portion, intentionally used it to demonstrate a skill we were going to do. The instructor quickly realized the bike was not running properly enough for the student to be successful and swapped it out for a different bike. Overview: In the end, I highly recommend WMST and the IRT. My experiences have made me want to return to take even more classes from them in future.

Fantastic experience: I just took the BRC over the weekend and had an awesome time here! I had taken the BRC last month with a different company and didn't have the best experience. So I decided to retake the class with WMST in Silverdale since both my parents had taken the class with them several years back and enjoyed it. My instructors, Steve and Joe, were really supportive and truly wanted their students to succeed. They provided constructive criticisms as we did each exercise. They taught class throughly while providing insights on their own experience as riders. The range portion can be a little tough at first but with confidence and remembering to relax a little and have fun, anyone can do it! I'm looking forward to coming back and getting my endorsement with them!

Negative experience: Prepare for a challenging experience when trying to book anything with this outfit. Fantastic experience: TL,DR: Chuck and Herb are the instructors I had, and they are awesome. The course I took was very helpful and will make me less of the "carefree and careless" young man I would have started riding as. Definitely worth every penny of $125. (Also, the two tests themselves cost $85-ish together, so it's really only $40) If this is read by someone in the organization, please extend my sincerest gratitude to Chuck and Herb. I'm sure I didn't express it as I would have liked. I want to preface this by saying that I don't know much about Pacific NW Motorcycle Safety itself. What I do know is the quality of the instruction at this particular location. My class was taught by an instructor named Chuck Swesey, and he was aided by another instructor named Herb. Chuck was informal, and at times, entertaining. However, what really struck me about him was the seriousness with which he spoke. I know it's really a matter of personal choice, but his seriousness helped me to think about the risky adventure I hoped to embark upon after completing the course. I believe that I have taken away more through his own insight than the course material (the course material was vital to understand as well), and certainly more than the Operator's Manual issued by the State. Herb was entertaining and lighthearted, but he also took instructing seriously. He spoke loudly, but only because he is hard of hearing. I believe that he made my time on the range much more enjoyable, and helped me to relax and let go of my anxiety. There were two other instructors at this location, but I didn't have the pleasure of interacting with them. On the topic of instructors, the instructors here are much more like mentors. Instead of "here's the right way, and I (the superior) will teach you (the imbeciles) how to do it," it's "I (the old and experienced rider), will pass on to you (the class) my combined knowledge and experience, that you may have the tools to ride safe and live to my age." I believe that the classes themselves are structured well. I did have several years experience (on the dirt, and not very far or fast), so that might have been a factor in my success with this course. Regardless, after the two (full) days I spent there, I felt confident and sure (which is a first for me) that I could and would pass the skills and written tests. I just needed to calm down and let myself believe that I could do it, and the course was structured in a way that allowed me to do that. Overall, the instruction is good, the days are exhausting, and the results are fantastic. *NOTE: I have currently only taken the Basic Rider Course.

Fantastic experience: The instructors here care about you as a person, and their primary concern really is your safety during class AND after you are on the road. I unfortunately failed my first skills assessment, but their strict adherence to the rules set by Washington state let me know that I really had chosen the best school. In addition to teaching the basics needed to safely ride, my instructor took the time to teach us and answer questions about the different type of gear out there, things that would make long rides more comfortable, fuel treatment to get keep the bike healthy. These guys really are amazing at what they do.

Negative experience: My grand daughter paid 125 dollars to attend this course, she had to drive from kirkland. She worked until 2 am then drove to silverdale, she arrived 15 minutes late because she couldn't find the place. She tried calling the office but there was no answer. She had to be in class at 8 but their offices don't open until 9 therefore she could not make contract with anyone. Finally at 930 she finally reached the manager and tried to explain the situation. He told her it was too bad, she asked for a refund he flatly said no. These people are a collection of thieves. But i suppose this is the new era of living in a sludge pit like puget sound, nothing but cinacism and thievery. She had no signed contract and was totally entitled to a refund. Stay away from this place go some where else. Do not use these idiots. I think this case is worthy of a law suit.

They said since i was the last to enroll,  so i got bumped. Took them 3 days to find that out. I suspect that that there is no computer error and i was bumped to accommodate a customer of dealer. I was informed by a dealer near their school, while i was looking for a motorcycle, that pacific northwest can accomodate students as long as i told them that i was going to buy a motorcycle from that dealer. I suspect that's what happened to me. Just my suspicion. Can't prove it definitely.

Given that we have no record of a student named Roderick de Leon ever registering for a class with us, I'm at a loss to know how to possibly respond directly. However, we have had a few computer problems this past summer that allowed more than the legal maximum number of registrations into a class. (Yes, there is a legal maximum number of students in each class that we can't exceed.) When this happened, we only discovered the error when we went to put together all the class paperwork, which we normally do the day before the class. At that point all we can do is look at who the last registration was and inform them that we have to move them to a different class/date. And that is apparently exactly what happened in this situation. (We have found the computer problem and fixed it so that this doesn't happen again.) Although we do everything in our power to accommodate local dealers who support our program with loan bikes and other things, we do NOT bump people out of classes at their request or simply to help out their customers.

Negative experience: The review of Ricky Boardman below was spot on! From the over heated rooms to the ridiculous amount of work done before the test. Then they barely tell you when you are testing. Then somehow even if you have passed all the test items before the test, you can still fail?? Anyway just go to Tacoma you can do the written test get a permit and practice before taking the actual riding test. The fact these jokes wont let you do that, just shows they're ripping you off! Great instructors though, however, they teach everywhere so do not think that's the only place you can find the same instructors. Again just go over the bridge its much easier.

Fantastic experience: Took the basic rider course to get my motorcycle endorsement. I had never driven a motorcycle or manual transmission vehicle before but with their instruction I passed and feel much more confident about my skills on a motorcycle. Dan and Lee were both great and very helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get a motorcycle endorsement for their license.

Fantastic experience: Went into this school to get my endorsement with a "Let's get this over" attitude-- I had a blast. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. They made a 2 day waste of time into a great experience that I encourage all my friends to check out. Overall great experience, and I feel like a chump now for being a negative-Nancy.

Negative experience: This is my experience and i know others had the same issues. If someone was to ask me would you go here again i would say hell no! this is step by step how it went in my opinion! Took awile to find Found the location on an airfield you walk up and their is no tresspass signs (cuz of the airport) you feel like your gunna get introuble for walking on the airfield the classroom is very well Air Conditioned (it was like 50 degrees outside) get to know others alot of un need talking here lots of the stories the instructor has been thru go outside and listen to the instructor talk about his motorcycle take a 10 min brake that was cut to like 3 minutes the classroom chairs are uncomfortable the next day you get to ride learn the controls push the motorcycle up a slight incline and down but playing red light green light (stop when he puts his hands up) then get to start the motorcycle then ride up and down then start to ride lines and (the lines are VERY BADLY PAINTED AS YOU CANT SEE THEM) if you do something wrong you would get told if you arent catching quick they will let you know you might get kicked out the lines make it very confusing watched a guy drop a motorcycle and was told no biggy overheard them talk about kicking him out cuz of it. took a lunch brake for an hour then another class was in and they got to use our motorcycles they never were caring about the rider its if you dont catch they want you gone so they dont have to deal with you watched a man beg to stay ha never saw a man beg before lol after 5-7 hrs of riding you had to take a written test. thought that was weird cuz everyone was bombing cuz they were tired. didnt show up for the next day cuz i figured it was dumb and stupid cuz i could never focus on riding when i felt that im being watched and felt like i was always gunna get kicked out. this is my personal opinon and i know when we left others were saying its bs also go for the experience thow :__)

Fantastic experience: This is motorcycle safety, not a motorcycle shop.
