As a small, non-profit organization, we are always looking for ways to better serve our membership base and community. One of those ways is our recent decision to implement an alternative workweek schedule to address the rising cost of fuel and increased environmental concerns. The Center’s extended office hours will be Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm with our office lobby closed Fridays. Need some additional help on Fridays? No worries! While we are not in the office Fridays, our staff is available 7:00am-5:00pm via phone.
Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about Pacific Safety Center:
Welcome to Pacific Safety Center, an esteemed motorcycle training facility dedicated to providing top-notch education for both beginners and experienced riders. Our instructors are known for their patience, knowledge, and supportive approach, making learning to ride a motorcycle enjoyable and confidence-boosting.
Here are some highlights of our training program:
- Comprehensive Training: Our courses are designed to cater to a wide range of skill levels, focusing on safety, technique, and practical riding skills. Instructors provide valuable pointers that help students feel secure and prepared for the road.
 - Engaging Classroom Experience: Many students have noted the well-structured courses and engaging classroom environment. Instructors are encouraging and promote a constructive feedback culture.
 - Flexible Learning Options: Options for both in-person and online testing make it convenient for all our students.
 - Variety of Courses: We offer beginner courses as well as advanced classes for those looking to enhance their skills further. Our training is suitable for anyone looking to bypass DMV tests.

While most feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, some students have experienced challenges with class intensity and pacing, particularly indicating that complete beginners might feel overwhelmed. Additionally, feedback about refunds and administrative communication has been noted occasionally.
Despite these challenges, Pacific Safety Center remains a recommended choice for those serious about learning to ride safely. Our goal is to ensure every student leaves feeling competent and ready to embrace the road ahead.
Pacific Safety Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Easy! This course its very easy, options to do the writing test online and in person as well. At the range, pretty easy as well, way to go its to be open mind, and be receptive. For that people saying its "too much information for one day" if you can't handle info and you are too slow to get it, its not a course for you. Trainers are very patients, and they help out with anything you need or if you have questions. I got my card and it was pretty easy. I would recommend this course to anyone who would like his MSF course card.
Negative experience: ****** Update: I finally received my refund on 10/17. Ultimately, I'm leaving the one star. Now, eight business days is not the worst wait time, but it's not great either. Furthermore, in trying to work with the office, I was repeatedly lied to. Not a misunderstanding, but literally just telling me things were moving when they weren't. If you know a refund won't be processed for a week, just tell the customer. It's better than being lied to. There are other ways to learn to ride. Don't go here. ***** Registering for a class is super easy. The problem comes when some major life event happens afterward and you need a refund. I was told my refund was processing for a week with no solid update, then nine days later was told it was finally being processed on a bank holiday before having the rest of my messages ignored. I was looking forward to re-registering but now I'm going to look at other options. I'll update this review to two stars when I receive my refund. Such disrespectful treatment for customer concerns...
Negative experience: Their website says this class is for beginners. But let me tell you if you have never ridden a motorcycle and have never been around it, this class is not for you. This class is for people who need a DMV waiver and who know how to operate a motorcycle. Most of the students in my class had some experience driving motorcycles. I was in the minority of those who had 000 experience. The structure of the class is very intense and very overwhelming. Instructors move you from one step to the next step and then to the next. Not sure how it is possible to switch from one step to the next when you are not completely familiar with the first one. Honestly, I think 4 hours session on the first day is too much for a complete beginner. Coming here, I thought I would learn how to ride a motorcycle. My goal was not to pass or not to pass the test. Anyway, I ended up falling off a motorcycle 3 times within 3 hours, the motorcycle I rode was really heavy for my light and petite frame. I decided to dropoff the class. Which means I threw my money away. No help from administration. This place just will happily eat your money. My suggestion, if you are a complete beginner like me, take one-on-one classes somewhere else first where you can learn at your own pace versus trying to keep up with the group.
Fantastic experience: Great instructors and great course practice. Really tough two days of riding practice. Tough but fair
Fantastic experience: I just took this course this last week and the course was excellent. Gave a lot of safety info and gave a lot of pointers. My instructors were I believe Chris and Kenny. I left this course with pointers I didn't even think about and gave me more confidence in slow manuevering and more confidence for hitting the road.
Fantastic experience: I took my motorcycle course at Pacific safety center back in February and I can't recommend it enough! The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and patient, even with beginners like myself. They made the learning process fun and engaging, and I felt confident on the bike by the end of the course. I especially appreciated the focus on safety – it gave me the peace of mind to hit the road knowing I had the skills I needed to stay safe.
Fantastic experience: Took the EMTC Motorcycle Training Course this past weekend and I cannot stress how great of an experience this was. Rhino, Kenny, and Alex were incredible and they alleviated all of the nervousness I had the entire week leading up to the weekend of the course. No matter how inexperienced you are, I promise they will put you at ease and boost your confidence practically the moment you show up on Day 1. For anyone who may be a bit more timid and reluctant to take a course due to overbearing instructors, I promise that isn’t the case here; this is no shouting or screamfest, they perfectly balance gentle insightful training with stressing the inherent dangers that motorcycling can/will pose. I had never driven a motorcycle of any kind prior to the course and by the end of it, I genuinely felt like I could get on the road and at least handle the basics fairly easily. I will definitely be back for the intermediate course down the road!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place, took private classes here with the instructor Kenny, very understanding and gave good advice! I was overwhelmed at first but after the classes I felt confident riding a motorcycle, these instructors are so caring and supportive. Take the class! It’s so worth it!
Fantastic experience: Motorcycle Training Course: First time riding a motorcycle and in just 2 days i learned the basics on how to ride, My instructors were Mary and Rhino, both were super helpful with tips for improvement, they inspired confidence through out the day.I highly recommend this course.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this class. Lawrence , Christy and Alex are great ! I'm pretty sure other instructors are great as well but these are the 3 that I had an experience with . They set you up for success ❤️
Fantastic experience: the motorcycle course here is extraordinary. it is not an easy pass, but that makes it all the more worthwhile!! when i first took this course, i wasnt able to make it through the first day, everyone was so kind about my skill level and even helped me reschedule for a later date along with a private lesson, i really appreciate alex with how calm and understanding he was (especially with how i kind of held up the class) kerri is very understanding with rescheduling as well, and helped me find a good fit for my private lesson. rhino was amazing with my private lesson, and though i left that early too, he helped me come to the conclusion that i might not be ready to ride until i get past my mental roadblocks, and that being well mentally is just as important for riding as knowing all the skills. i later went through the entire course, and though i failed, everyone cheered me on for attempting in the first place! mary was quite stern during my attempt, but it was all worthwhile when she finally said she thinks im on my way! if even mary thinks i can do it, then i KNOW i can. i KNEW i wanted to ride, so when i went back after a few months break, i saw so many familiar faces! mary and rhino greeted me by name, and i felt so much more confident with all the training (and a break) that i actually felt i was ready. third times the charm, and i passed!! i will definitely be coming back for more advanced courses, seeing as i have a long way to go. but i really appreciate everyone at pacific safety center. thank you for reading my ramble! but i feel it was well deserved :)) -nick/maeve
Negative experience: I wish I could give this place zero stars. This place charged a lot of $$$, then to have a rude instructor be the face of the company and company site manager make excuses for bad behavior and was be okay with that is unsatisfactory. I called to voice my concerns and what my son had experienced with one of the instructors. I wrote a follow up email as instructed by the office secretary or office Manager. There was a reply a few days later from a site manager that was so passive aggressive and condescending. The reply also made so many excuses for the actions of the instructor. He said he would pass my concerns onto leadership as I requested but in his reply he put conditions in place before he would forward my concerns to leadership. It was definitely not a, how can we make it right reply? I could go on and on but why bother? I am sure I am not the only customer who has had issues with this training company. I wish I would have read more of the reviews before selecting this company for my son. Total disappointment.
Fantastic experience: I took this course many years ago (2007)and I can say it was worth it They taught me the basics I highly recommend this course, whether you a beginner or have been riding for a while
Fantastic experience: I do not often leave reviews but my experience here made me want to do so. I took the basic MFS course here last weekend and my time spent with the instructors was nothing short of great. Mary and Rip did a phenomenal job throughout the weekend. I went from only haven ridden mopeds to being adept at riding a full on motorcycle. We learned A LOT in a short timeframe but everything was very well laid out and courses went smoothly. Big thanks to Mary and Rip and am looking at taking additional more advanced courses now!
Fantastic experience: Had a great time despite my miserable allergy flare up. My instructors were Rhino and Chris. Superb Coaches, very encouraging and informative. Kept the class engaged and entertained. I have a bike but I don’t ride it consistently and I have never been on the highway with it. Most of my riding performance is from muscle memory growing up in texas deep country riding 4 wheelers and mopeds. This class helped boost my confidence to get more practice in so I can get on the highway for some highway therapy. I am now interested in taking more advanced classes and being the best rider that I can be. Thanks Rhino and Chris! - Tee-
We are so glad you enjoyed your course, minus the allergies! Hope to see you in another one of our courses.
Fantastic experience: I have been using PSC for our construction company's safety training for years now. Everything from forklift operator, rigging, CPR, fall protection, and OSHA courses. They have been a great asset to our safety program, and we always receive high quality training. I can't say enough good things about the team at PSC.
Thank you Francine! We are happy to offer these courses to you and your team. Looking forward to having you in future classes!
Negative experience: Valerie Ward can be a driver, but not all drivers can be a good instructor, zero patience, makes student nervous, if sees small mistakes will discourage you. Once you get nervous, your brain will definitely refuse learning new thing. Car was quite old though, hard to press gas pedal. She discouraged me a lot, but next week I went to other instructor and after 1 class I got my license, do a favor to yourself and don't waste your money.
Fantastic experience: If you're second guessing wether you should go, GOOOOOOOO. Just when you thought you knew it all, they definitely taught this old dog new tricks. Been riding for many years off and on and decided to go legit and get my license. Enrolled into PSC in order to bypass the skills test at the dmv. I honestly felt that there was nothing they could teach me. I was definitely proven wrong multiple times. All the knowledge from Lawrence and all the other Instructors at the San Diego chapter of PSC is just awesome. The energy they have is amazing to say the least. Thank you to all the Instructors and hopefully one of these days our paths will cross again.
Fantastic experience: The instructors totally rocked! Had a great time. Our class all passed. I definitely recommend!
Thanks Tom! Happy to hear you had a great time.
Fantastic experience: Motorcycle safety course Very informative, stressful (only cause i think to much) and fun at the same time. Instructors are stern because they're trying to make sure safe, alive in one piece. I for one stressed myself out and Instructor Charlie knew how to walk me off the ledge and calm me down. It was exactly what I needed to relax. She has a great sense of humor and treated everyone equally regardless of gender, race, back ground etc. Anyway, it's a great class and I highly recommend if you're licensed or still working on your license.
We are so happy your had a great experience with our instructors. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I just finished the course in Chula Vista with Alex, Mary and Kristy(sp?) as my main instructors. These three were FANTASTIC instructors! Everything was very organized and the course progression is well-thought out. This course caters to the absolute beginner (me) with no experience on a motorcycle and progresses to the end to include cornering, shifting, quick stops, and getting up to speeds around 15-20mph. The vibe from all of the instructors was one of positivity and constructive criticism. Questions were encouraged and the answers were always thoughtful and thorough. Once I get more time on the bike, I’ll be back to take the Intermediate course.
Thank you Christopher! We will be happy to have you back for the intermediate course.
Negative experience: Waste of time and money. Biggest issue I had was I did not fit on the bike I was riding. When I requested a new one I was told just deal with it. Feet couldn’t touch the floor bike was heavy and awkward. Bike was over twice to triple the size of almost every other bike out. The final test is based on tight turns and maneuvers. A bike which I have trouble balancing and holding up right wasn’t going to work and guess what it didn’t. Failed almost every test because of this. If I rode a grom Or something tiny I’d have zero issue. A massive dirt bike with skinny tires is the worst choice. Wanted me to pay more money to retest. I’d rather just self learn and take it up to the dmv. I didn’t really learn any safe tricks or tips. Which is a huge downsize a business model that swears to improve safety taught me zero.
Fantastic experience: Nice clean and comfortable atmosphere to take a career enhancing exam.
Negative experience: I never give 1 star reviews but this place has earned it, should be 0 stars. Anyone considering motorcycle training should look elsewhere if they expect to pay money and be trained on a motorcycle. This company took my money and never gave me a chance to get on a motorcycle. They ask for more money, hide behind unfair policies, and blame you. I'm sorry I ever paid you anything, what a mistake.
Fantastic experience: I think the instructors did a fabulous job teaching the basics. They are very skilled and have years of experience. It is the perfect course for someone who has never rode a motorcycle before (like me) because they start off slow. They provided me with the tools I will need and a solid foundation to become a safe rider. I somehow also managed to get paired with the exact bike I was considering purchasing. They provide the bikes, aswell as helmets and gloves if needed.
Fantastic experience: Did the course this weekend. Loved it. Helped me out understand that motorcycles aint scary. The instructors were very helpful the whole weekend. Will recommend to everyone I know.
Fantastic experience: Helped me verify my I-9 documentation in a matter of minutes. I checked in early for my appointment, and was out before the time slot for my appointment even happened. Quick and professional.
Fantastic experience: Very thorough. Went there for testing.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional. Did this motorcycle course the first 3 days. The 4th day is the final riding day. They are very strict with times and attendance with students attending but that doesn't mean anything when it's thier own staff not even showing up to lead the class. We all sat outside for 3 hours waiting and trying to contact this business to figure out what was going on. Then a simple "sorry" for wasting your time. Then they pretend to be perfect after and charge a rescheduling fee to get scheduled again over 2 months from the first 3 days.
Positive experience: Nice quiet place to take the entry exam for US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) but never called back even when I passed that long test, that test took almost 3 hours to finish!!
Fantastic experience: I took this course a few years back. The classroom was excellent and informative, you will learn a lot. As far as hands on training, bring water and snacks. You will be out there for a minute so come ready with your own protective gear, trust me... you will feel better with your own swag. It can be hard to hear directions so stay close to the instructor... pick a bike you want to ride!! Lastly, come prepared and get plenty of rest before getting on the bike. Dont come fatigue or hung over. This class will insure if riding a motorcycle is for you. You will know it in your core. Good luck and may the force be with you.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff, great instructors on the field and I believe they provide updates and relevant information to learn how to not just keep yourself and others safe and most importantly alive on the road. This is a must do and the 258$ value is miniscule compared to the value of knowing how to drive appropriately
Fantastic experience: Best class ever. Awesome instructors. Lots to learn.
Negative experience: If you do not show up on time for ANY reason they will NOT work with you or show any empathy towards your situation or care about your reasons. I was unable to participate in my final day because my lyft driver dropped me off in the wrong place. I was dropped off at 8:48 but after walking the rest of the way I showed up at 9:01. I called the safety course and asked them to notify the instructor but he recieved no call. It costs me at least $50 round trip, but they dont care. They got theirs
Fantastic experience: I'd give them 10 out 10 stars if I could. Had been 40 years since my last motorcycle so I needed a refresher. Excellent program, facilities, instructors and equipment. Marcus, Andrea and Yvette were informative and supportive both in the class and the range. I went in to the class mainly for the DMV waiver thinking my skills would come back to me, but was amazed by the level of useful information and riding tips. Immediately applied the information and several riding techniques. End result - my skills and abilities are way improved making me a safer, more confident rider. Thanks PSC ️
Fantastic experience: Gained a great deal of confidence maneuvering my BMW K1200 sport touring bike through the course. Highly recommend this training.
Fantastic experience: The best school in San Diego , Great class, excellent instruction Very highly recommend it , i took my motorcycle class and I learned a lot of expirence to ride , ( Marcus & Mark ) are the best, Thank you so much.
Fantastic experience: Look no further, this is hands-down the best motorcycle training course program out there, the classroom is roomy, the range is large and above all, the instructors are the friendliest people on the planet. They really do want you to pass. I highly recommend this program to any level rider.
Positive experience: I took the Motorcycle Safety course. I passed it with zero riding experience along with over a dozen others in my class that were on the same level. My experience was that the people that failed really had no business being on a motorcycle (yet) and it was obvious to everyone, even themselves in some cases. For others it is probably a bitter pill to swallow. The riding portion at the range was excellent and the instructors work their tail off to set up all the different courses and help everyone learn. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was the teaching style of one classroom instructor that revolved around asking the class questions instead of just teaching us the ideas she wanted to transmit. Just tell us what you need to teach us, THEN ask us questions to review if you'd like. Imagine you're teaching a group of people the alphabet but they don't know what letters are. You wouldn't start the class by saying "okay so what's the 18th letter?" Everyone in the classroom yells out a different incorrect answer and you end up just saying "R" anyway so just start by saying "R is the 18th letter." Sure I'm nitpicking and this is certainly no reason to not take the course, but teaching like that for 3 hours is brutal! Just teach the material! That's why we're here, to learn it! We're not on a gameshow! All around it was a great experience.
Fantastic experience: I took the child safety seat class due to getting a ticket for not having my 6 year old daughter in a booster seat. I learned a lot about what is supposed to be done for child safety seats, how to install properly, how to properly secure your child, how to determine age of seats and when to recycle them, etc. Very informative class and I highly recommend Pacific Safety Center since they are very efficient at what they do. They also offer a motorcycle class that eliminates taking the driving test at the DMV along with getting a discount on your motorcycle insurance! Highly recommend classes!
Fantastic experience: I don't even get how anyone can complain about this course. I hadn't ridden for 30 years and no problems with the class work or the road test.
Positive experience: Great class, learned a lot. Very safety oriented, instructors awesome however you have to have some experience before taking the class. If u have never ridden before you will fail. This is not for beginners. I wish they had a real beginners class, it’s worth it but I wish they separated ppl who have zero experience and have them a real beginners lesson. We did mostly turning and cornering, but teach me how to use clutch throttle n shift first please.
Positive experience: Passed the class day 1 and the riding portion day 1, day 2 passed the test with a 96%, and then failed the riding exam by 1 point. The training is good, but I recommend you have a little experience riding before hand in order to pass because they grade legitimately. Will be going back to complete the test. - Overall, good training.
Fantastic experience: Instructors are cool and easy going. If you don't want to do the driving test at the dmv, do this class. If you want to know the basics of riding and know how to prevent an accident or die while riding, take this class.
Positive experience: PSC offers exceptional instruction in basic rider safety. The classroom and riding range instruction is very beneficial to new and experienced riders alike. The entire staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience and show a genuine concern for their students. I would recommend this course for motorcyclists, especially new riders. Be sure to be on time, especially to the riding ranges, as they do strictly enforce the terms and policies of the course, and cannot allow students to participate if they arrive late (must reschedule and pay $65 fee).
Fantastic experience: Look no further for the best place to learn the ropes of motorcycling. Get the best instructors here (Marcus, Ashley, Casey etc) for the ultimate riding experience. Feel the sense of achievement once you pass the test and earn your ticket to freedom, and earn the honor of being one of us, riders for life!
Fantastic experience: Excellent instruction.
