Highlights from user experiences include:

  • Quality Instruction: Instructors such as Rich, Liz, and Jed have been commended for their thorough coaching, humor, and ability to cater to various skill levels, ensuring every student leaves more confident in their riding abilities.
  • Comprehensive Training: The Basic Rider Course is designed to cover essential skills for safe motorcycle operation, with many noting that the training is often more challenging than the actual ride test, effectively preparing them for the real world.
  • Supportive Atmosphere: Students appreciate the positive and encouraging environment fostered by the coaches, making the learning experience enjoyable, especially for those new to riding.

Fantastic experience: I am so happy I took the basic riding course through Rider Academy. First help a local business owner! 2nd I am 43 yrs old and decided I wanted to get a motorcycle. I maybe drove 2 ish hours before I took the class. I didn't know much. When I was done and took the driving test I drove like I have been driving for a while. I am so thankful for everything I learned. Thank you coaches. I will also be paying for a private lesson to learn how to ride trails so I can take my yamaha T700 off road. I cant wait.

Fantastic experience: My whole experience with Rider Academy, with Brad and Nathan specifically, was very pleasant. They went out of their way to make sure everyone knew what they were doing and were very helpful with answering questions. The riding test at the end wasn't bad at all and we went through everything that was in it multiple times along with many other maneuvers we may need to use while riding. Overall, it was an amazing experience and would recommend to anyone looking to get their motorcycle endorsement.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible. Makes up every excuse in the book to not accommodate in anyway, refuses to provide a refund after refusing entry into class. Tells you to try next week, but doesn't assign you a spot to the next class, better cross your fingers someone doesn't show up, because you will be turned away again, all while not providing a refund. waste of time, waste of effort, can learn more by watching YouTube. Do not waste your time, will be speaking with the BBB to shut this program down. Refuses to provide business license information, refuses to provide last name of whomever you are speaking with. Talk about a corrupt waste of energy.

Fantastic experience: This is by far the greatest learning experience for me! Rider academy is the best when it comes to beginners or refreshing your riding skills.

Fantastic experience: Took my Basic Rider Course here and it was great training! Jed was an amazing instructor and I would've paid the money to just hear his jokes and stories! Lots of bikes to choose from when practicing which helps if you don't know what bike you want to ride. The training was fantastic and made me feel very confident when it was time for the exam. A lot of the training was setup to be harder than the exam so you feel more prepared during the actual tests. Would highly recommend Rider Academy even if you are not sure if you will ride on the street. The knowledge and training was super valuable and fun!

Fantastic experience: Had a ton of fun learning to ride with the Rider Academy crew! The skill-building exercises built on each other nicely and got me comfortable with riding a motorcycle, having never even sat on one before the class. It was a long weekend in the sun but the instructors made it fun and were super knowledgeable about riding. The selection of bikes to learn on was also good with a selection of cruisers and naked bikes all around 250cc, as well as a few mopeds. I would recommend wearing lightweight gear for the class if you go during the summer especially in the afternoon, it can get hot sitting on the range lot!

Fantastic experience: Even though I have 10 years experience on two wheels I still took their class and throughly enjoyed it. They taught me things new I didn't know and helped me improve on the things I did already know. I had blast with the instructors, Lizzy was the best, and the other students. They did a great job of verbal and visually showing us what we needed to do. I would highly recommend this school to anyone no matter what their skill level is.

Fantastic experience: Liz and Kevin were my instructors. They were the best! Very thorough coaching every step of the way. I came to this class never having driven a motorcycle and graduated with absolute confidence to ride on my own. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Jed and Brad are phenomenal instructors and create a great environment to learn in. A lot of great stories between the two of them were shared over the course of the weekend. BRC availability was great and they were able to get me in sooner than any college / tech school locations that were already wait-listed. Would absolutely recommend Rider Academy and taking the BRC in general to anyone getting into riding.

Fantastic experience: Best place to take your msf course! My partner and I did this for our 10 year anniversary, and it was so much fun! Learned a lot, and have now been riding for a year on the streets! Can’t recommend this place enough!

Fantastic experience: Great group of instructors, and I know attending this class has made me a better newbie rider. I would go back to take the more advanced skills class someday!

Fantastic experience: Jed and Kevin are fantastic instructors. They’re knowledgeable with years of experience and riding between them and know how to make it both fun and a learning experience. No question or concern is ever not taken lightly. They’re patient and care about all of the future riders that wanna hit the road. If you want to learn how to safely enjoy riding a motorcycle I couldn’t recommend these guys more highly..

Fantastic experience: Such a fun and informative experience! I learned so much from my instructor Liz. She is awesome! She really addresses the risks with riding, and gave amazing tips that I will use in my everyday riding. Before the course, I did not know how to turn on a motorcycle, and I was able to pass the assessment with a perfect score !

Negative experience: Toooo expensive for what they bring to the table.

Fantastic experience: This guys are the real deal. Best instructors you can find in Minnesota. They make sure you learn skills necessary not only for the test but the real world. They have the best price and best facilities. THEY PROVIDE MOTORCYCLES

Fantastic experience: Liz was our instructor. It was fantastic to have a female riding role model! Liz did a great job walking us through riding basics, taking us from never having touched a bike before to being safe and licensed bikers by the end of class. Her encouragement and tips throughout the class aided in our learning. She watched each of us carefully and had tips unique to our individual problems. She gave additional challenges to riders who were more experienced, which kept them engaged in the class (very smart). I'm so glad I took my riders class through Rider Academy. I'd recommend this class for beginners interested in getting licensed (and in particular, I'd highly recommend trying to get in a class with Liz).

Fantastic experience: Came for the BRC2 training for work. Jed was awesome. Very good and knowledgeable instructor. The bikes were all newer and fun to ride. A+.

Vanessa Linder 2 years ago

Negative experience: Classroom was GREAT, zero complaints. The driving part moved a bit fast. They have ZERO shade on hot days and only allow 5min breaks..literally 5mins. I had heat exhaustion and was told I could reschedule to finish class and take the test. I tried for MONTHS to contact them with no reply. I wasted $300.

Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend if you have no prior motorcycle experience, and even if you do. They really want you to be road ready and know how to ride a motorcycle safely. I had no prior experience, and was not a quick learner. I was lucky enough to have two of the teachers at Riders Academy and both were great. Extremely knowledgeable, but able to teach beginners in an engaging and fun manner. They go the extra mile to make sure you succeed, which I really appreciated. You'll experience a higher level of service than other options available. Very happy I decided to learn with Rider's Academy.

Fantastic experience: It was a awesome time on the course rich the instructor was awesome at teaching the class:)

Linz 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Just finished the BRC here with Rich as our coach and had such a wonderful experience! I have severe anxiety and ADD and Rich was always so patient, kind and thorough with answering questions and taking his time to explain to ensure we were safely learning each exercise! Everyone was extremely positive and empowering, making it a great first time motorcycle experience! If you're on the fence whether or not to learn, don't hesitate as if I can do it, most anybody can!

kelsey livermore 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Prior to taking the BRC I had no experience driving a motorcycle. I left with my endorsement. Course was exactly what I expected. It was difficult but I left feeling more confident with my skills and risk assessment. I recommend this course to absolutely anyone. The instructor was informative and direct with instruction. He was also very helpful on breaks with my many questions about purchasing a bike for the first time. Some people in the class thought he was too harsh at times and that he was "picking" on certain people. I do not feel this was the case, though. The point of this course is to safely learn to ride. The endorsement is a bonus, not the goal. He is not there to hold your hand and make you feel warm and fuzzy. Safety is priority #1. Some people were 'sensitive' to that style of coaching and were adverse to it. He is there to teach and direct, not be your best friend or cheerleader. If you listen and follow directions you will have zero problems, and the course will be enjoyable. Keep in mind there are other people in the course with you waiting to learn and practice. If you aren't paying attention it slows the whole groups progress. Come prepared and be on time. Thank you so much Rich, I appreciated your coaching style and the wealth of information you freely and enthusiastically offered throughout the course. I will surely be returning for future classes to improve my skills.

Fantastic experience: I had a fabulous experience at Rider Academy! Rich was a wonderful instructor, very knowledgeable and clear instructions, with great feedback and a sense of humor to boot. I had a great bike to ride, perfect for learning, and the entirety of the on-site instruction is on a bike. Would recommend highly to anyone looking to improve their riding skills.

Fantastic experience: I took basic bike rider class from the riders academy. Rich is very experienced and amazing instructor he brings so much energy the mood is uplifted the entire training. I could not believe what I learned at the end of day one. They have very good bikes selection.

Fantastic experience: The one thing I want to point out is I failed, thought I was better than I was. Well, bottom line, the instructors are better than we think. Listen, pay attention and perform. You will do just fine. You typically only have one time to make a mistake on a motorcycle, they're trying to make sure that doesn't happen. Ride safe

Elizabeth Pikal 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: This course is great for riders of all skill levels. My instructor Jed was fantastic - funny, laid back and extremely knowledgeable. Classroom activities were engaging and practice on the course was broken up into easy bites and thoroughly demonstrated beforehand so I never felt intimidated. Even with no prior riding experience, if you show up on time and with a good attitude, you can leave with all the skills you need to begin riding and confidently too!

Fantastic experience: Great experience, I'm 6'3" and heavy set guy and had great experience at the ridders course. The instructor did awesome job of teaching and pointing out mistakes to work on, which really helped. Got the test passed there and already bought motorcycle and for sure good idea to go thru the course. I think the price is very reasonable considering the academy even provide a motorcycle for the 2 day course. Definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Me and another Asian dude took this class together and I thought we did good. We both failed the riding course. I noticed that 3 others did worst than us but passed. Wonder if there are others out there!

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to say that Richard our instructor as absolutely awesome. He was patient, thorough, and very informative. The class was fun and upbeat with interesting exercising and teamwork. There was not one dull part of the class. I really appreciate the amount of time he took to not only explain the course in detail but give us all a demo of how we were supposed to do it. The other motorcyclists were awesome as well. I seen beginners that barely could operate the bike to fully riding and completing the obstacles. I hope that everyone can get some riding in before the snow falls. I will definitely recommend Rider Academy. Even though I have been riding for almost 10 years, I learned much more in these two days than I would have ever thought. So in the end I think it's worth every penny! Thanks again!!!

Fantastic experience: I took this course in summer of 2019, and by 2020, I can say this course has single handedly given me all the skills I need to ride, stay safe, and has actually saved my life. They teach you all you need to know about riding, and about how to protect yourself while riding. I had a very close near accident earlier this year, but instead of crashing, I used the skills I learned in the course and saved my bike from skidding and crashing. I would absolutely recommend taking the course, whether you're a beginner or a veteran of riding, this course is for you.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this place to anyone !

Rider Academy

Marek, Please understand that if you are late, like an airplane scheduled to depart, our class 'takes off'. Please reach out to be rescheduled.

Edyta Kras 5 years ago

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs, they took my son money without refund !

Rider Academy

Your son paid for a specific class - we reschedule people all the time but if you don't show up or contact us in advance, that is impossible.

Karl Tabiszewski 5 years ago

Negative experience: Waste of time, rude trainers , very unprofessional and scam artists. Got 5 min late from my lunch and said “ your out” Stay away from them! You don’t handle business like that!

Rider Academy

Please understand that we waited for you the first time as we understand folks get lost or have difficulty parking etc. But, showing up 15 minutes the second time is unfair to all the other riders and we are sure you would not wait 105 minutes (7 riders each waiting 15 minutes = 105 minutes) for something you had scheduled. Please reach out and we will find you a spot.

DeepBlu Dreams 5 years ago

Negative experience: Instructions was fine for the most part however ZERO accomodations for tall riders, due to the fact I'm over six feet tall and theathe fleet of motorcycles they have are all the cheapest wreaks they could find. If you are tall don't take this course, find one that cares and has a better range of cycles for students of all shapes and sizes, I passed but the class was miserable

Rider Academy

I'm sorry but all schools must use MSF approved bikes for training and MSF guidelines require low power, low weight and low seat height. I feel your 'pain' - I'm 6'4"

Fantastic experience: ( just saying im not an instructor i was a student there) Really easy class ( if you practice before hand). They will teach you everything you need to know on the road. At the end of the class they test you for the endorsement ( you need to bring your permit to get tested) and if you pass they stamp your permit (MN people only, Wisconsin people is different).

Fantastic experience: Nothing but great things to say. The riding coach was fantastic. Helpful, knowledgeable, paitent, energetic, engaging, all around great experience from the riding coach. The small class sizes make learning to ride fun and gives opportunity for 1 on 1 teaching. I would highly recomend this to anyone with a desire to learn how to ride a motorcycle.

Fantastic experience: Super good place didn't want to do it at first but went anyway, instructors were super friendly I would consider myself a pretty decent rider prior to the class and still learnt a lot from them, explained all questions we had, took it as slow as some people needed to go. I would highly recommend it to anyone great place and easy to find on gps

Rich1958 8 years ago

Negative experience: I didn't have a good experience it seems like i was being picked on and yelled at the most I feel like the instructions wasn't that clear enough at times i feel like i was being disrespected.i was trying to keep my balance in the turn where you had to slow down, the bike sound like it was trying to shut off so to keep from falling i would give the motor cycle a little gas because you had to keep your feet on the foot pedal .So the instructor ask me why was i giving it gas i told him i didn't want to fall because it sounded like the bike wanted to cut off.So he pull me off the lot to talk to me .while he was talking to me ,A young female student fell off her bike and hurt her arm and her wrist."that's what i was trying to avoid.Good training wrong person teaching.

Jessie Sheridan 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: Rider academy is great. Friendly helpful super knowledgeable coaches. Great place to learn. Very informative. Highly recommended! But make sure u haven't tested with state already twice. If u have, they can't stamp your permit and u won't get your endorsement and u will have paid all that for nothing but the info. Which is very good. But I paid knowing how to ride already thinking I'd not have to test at dmv any more. And I left still having to do so to get my endorsement. It's stupid state of mn's fault but beware of this. I was super sad.
