Fantastic experience: Lucas was outstanding with his supportive and informative instruction. I appreciated his patience, calm demeanor and expertise. I would highly recommend him and DriveSafe Driving Schools. The staff are invested in educating all drivers regardless of age!
Negative experience: I attended the 30 hour course here and the experience was fairly alright, I had a really great teacher who actually showed interest in teaching us, and truly wanted us to be fully prepared to start driving safely. However there was a few things that I did not appreciate in the class personally, one being the fact that they showed videos of traumatic stories involving teens in roadway accidents, some of which were fatal. This may not affect others the same way it did to me, but it really killed my motivation to drive, and honestly gave me severe anxiety while on the road. Which is ironically the opposite of driving safely. The second thing that bothered me is that the methods that are used to teach are extremely outdated and no longer work too well. They also showed old Instructional videos from ages ago that are not relevant in modern times. I ended up getting a 100% on my permit test though which was pretty nice. When it came time to start doing the instructor drives, I actually had an amazing time! All of the instructors were kind and patient with me, and genuinely wanted me to progress and get better. I feel like I honestly wouldn’t be as confident as I am now if it weren’t for them. I’ve had a really slow and rough driving journey. I recently just turned 18, so I am no longer required to have a certain amount of hours to take the license test, But this is where my main problems start. For my first attempt on the test, I was put into a new car that was entirely different from the ones I had done the instructor drives in. So I had to relearn the feeling of a whole new car in 20 minutes. And when we brought this up afterwards, the receptionist told me it’s all my fault, and that I have to learn how to drive different vehicles, as if we’re always getting new cars in our household. I could tell my instructor was probably a nice guy, but he really stressed me out and was super tense the whole drive. It made me feel uncomfortable and it caused me to make errors that I would never otherwise make. For my second attempt, I was in one of the cars I was more comfortable with. And my instructor was nice too, but this time I lost points on things that I hadn’t lost on the first attempt. There really seems to be a lack in knowledge and training because I had both instructors saying different things about rules on the road, the first one didn’t mention anything about signaling in roundabouts, but the second one took points away for not. And after failing the tests they made me feel like I killed someone, instead of helping me to improve it seemed like they were just calling me a road hazard, and I’ve never felt more discouraged in my life. Afterwards they also basically just pushed us out the door and said welp, for $100 you can do it again! All in all this was a terrible experience for me personally, maybe it’ll work for others but not for me.
Fantastic experience: My daughter just finished her permitting yesterday and passed her driving test on the first try. We really appreciate all the training that the classes and ride-along provided. Definitely recommend DriveSafe for new drivers!

Fantastic experience: If you know how to drive and know the rules of the road, but have not studied them, you have every chance of passing the road test. I recommend it to everyone, especially if you are a foreigner. The attitude is not biased as in some other schools, the staff is friendly and tactful.

Fantastic experience: I can't express the value DriveSafe has given not only my teen driver, but also to me as his mother. My son learned skills that have built his confidence in his driving, and has developed good habits that have turned him into a good, solid, safe driver. As his mother, I can't help but worry about him on the road, so I am very happy with the feedback he was given in lessons, and the thoughtfulness he came away with from the Defensive Skills Day. With the thorough instruction he received, he was able to pass his drive test (also administered here) on his first try. I'll always worry about him, but I know he's got a strong foundation to draw on to make good decisions on the road. Everyone we dealt with at this location, and at the Defensive Skills Day were professional, friendly, and informative. They all seemed to really enjoy what they do, and that really shows in the effort they put in. I would highly recommend these classes to anyone who is interested in improving their skills on the road.

Fantastic experience: Instructor Bryan is Truly The Best!
Fantastic experience: I took multiple driving lessons here over a course of almost 2 years, and every instructor was pleasant, knowledgeable, and cared about my and everyone else's safety. I passed my test yesterday, and at age 50, I finally got my license! Such a proud moment. Bryan was amazing and was genuinely happy for me! I highly recommend taking a lesson right before the driving test - I believe this was a big reason I passed at my first try. As someone who literally used to shake with fear when behind the wheel, I am now a safe, confident driver. A big thanks to the team at DriveSafe!
Negative experience: Tried to purchase class from them. Did not agree to terms and requested a refund. No one responds or calls back, no refund received and their call time hours seem to be upto 5pm not 9pm as stated in their Google business description.

Negative experience: Choose another location or company to test at. The first time my son tested he failed he has been driving for almost 2 years and I can guarantee the reasons failed for where not accurate. The second time he tested was better and the instructor was much more pleasant and insightful. However I still would not recommend this location failing over 80% of tester can not be a normal for the industry. This is a money game the refund policy is not told up front and you’ll end up spending $200 or more before they pass you.
Hi Valerie, thanks for sharing your feedback. As roadways get more complex, population increases, and traffic laws change, so do the safety standards on the driving test. We do not design the test rules, nor do we decide the test route. Both the test standards, and test route are set forth by the state of Colorado. The license test covers over 100 items and is often more difficult for even experienced drivers to pass due to years of driving habits that do not meet current State standards. Our License testers in the State are trained and audited by the State to uphold driving safety standards on behalf of all drivers on the road. It is often the case that the individual passes on the second try after learning what issues led to the failure on the first try. Our interest is aligned with students passing but, even more so, with everyone's safety on the road. We wish your family the best of luck.

Fantastic experience: Had to take a driving test to get my license back and I intentionally picked this place because they had a lower rating and presumably do not “guarantee” a pass. Had to take it twice. Passed the second time. Staff is professional and fair. Test is hard. Thank you Drive Safe.

Negative experience: Poorly run business that doesn't offer appointments in a timely manner and hides their refund policy in emails. My daughter was offered to sign up for a follow-up appointment, next available appointment in 3 weeks, and not told it was non-refundable. I recommend looking for other schools.

Positive experience: Honestly the process of getting signed up and maneuvering the websites was rather difficult especially when calling there customer service, but after all that it was a pleasant experience. Positive experience: Generally felt prepared for driving and permit test but the unit regarding purchasing cars I felt had some less than satisfactory information. Also, sometimes minor information regarding things like average mpg was off but other than that it was a good experience.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience! I took the driving test in 15 minutes and I passed. My instructor Nick! Was amazing. Prior to that I also took the 1 hour refresher which helped me get familiar with t he car and the instructors. Nick is very professional, patient and makes you feel comfortable. Negative experience: Absolutely the worst driving school. I did a 2 hr driving w/ instructor but the instructor was NOT helpful at all because all he does is sweet talk you and doesn't point out any of your mistakes that will fail you. Then, your stereotypical harsh examiner comes in and fail you just because your skin color is darker than the bleached sugar he puts in his coffee. If you are a colored person don't come here to take a test because you will fail in a heartbeat. I scored 23pts on my exam here, but only 7pts in another school with 1 day apart(you must have 20 or less to pass). Oh yeah, the manager is also pretty rude.
Negative experience: We had one child go through their program, and the instruction was adequate/average. His on the road lessons were also adequate, but we used the downtown location for his last lesson, and it was an extremely better and more valuable experience than the Lakewood/Morrison location. (side note: we had a drive scheduled for Lakewood and when we showed up, they said they didn't have an instructor there to do the lesson. That is why we had to go to Denver to do the final lesson.) We had scheduled my son's driving test on his birthday morning. It snowed lightly the morning of the test. DriveSafe's instructor who was supposed to give the test called us 30 minutes before his test sounding like she just rolled out of bed and said she didn't have time to get there because of the snow and traffic. However, the DMV was able to do the test, so we went there. We do understand problems with employees happen, so we asked DriveSafe to give us a credit for our next child to take the test free. We paid for the test, after all. Their Morrison/Lakewood manager agreed to give us a credit of $75 for our next child. When the time came for my daughter to take the class, they wouldn't give me the full credit! They said they would only be giving me $50 credit because they were running Holiday sales at the time. Super cheesy, unprofessional and don't keep their word. The communication is terrible, customer service is non-existent, you can't count on appointments made, and there is definitely better instruction in the area. We are trying a smaller company for my daughter, and will be sure to review them when we are done with the lessons. Your response below is not accurate. You were not going to allow me to use the current promotion BECAUSE I had a credit. When your employee sounds like she just rolled out of bed when she cancels 20 minutes before the drive test and states it's because there's a dusting of snow, I wouldn't call that a scheduling issue. My son went to the DMV after you canceled and passed his test just fine.

While we worked diligently to help you, it appears there was a misunderstanding. • We are glad to hear your son’s lessons were a valuable learning experience. Our primary goal is to help students become safe, successful drivers for life. We will certainly pass this along to his instructors. • It sounds like there was a scheduling issue with your third lesson, for which we sincerely apologize. We are glad, however, that he had a wonderful experience with the Denver office as a result. • By state standards, any skid during a test is an automatic failure. On days with inclement weather, it is DriveSafe policy to reschedule license tests. This is because such environments, especially snow and ice, may lead to unsafe conditions and a higher likelihood of failure on the test. The area around the Littleton/Lakewood office is by the foothills and especially susceptible to snow and ice. Rather than set students up for disappointment, it is usually better to do the test on a later date. While we hate to disappoint our students, we did have your son’s best interests at heart. • As for the credit on your account, we fully honored the $75 you mention in your review. We wanted to provide you even more savings due to a promotion we had running at the time, so we offered an additional amount on top of that (the $50 mentioned). Fantastic experience: I had a really fantastic experience with Nick - I went for the 1hr drive practice and exam and he took the time to explain why he suggested the techniques he did, and why driving laws are the way they are, and how to stay safe when driving. after my exam, he took more time to explain to me why I was scored the way I was, and even though I passed (yay!) what I ought to work on to be the best driver I can. all in all, the folks here are wonderful and friendly and invested in seeing you succeed. thanks a bunch!!

Negative experience: I went here I failed twice, I passed flying colors at the Highlands Ranch location. Honestly go to a different Drivesafe save the time and money.
Raymond, In accordance with Colorado State law, an applicant cannot have more than 20 points, three traffic violations, a dangerous or a serious action to pass the drivers licensing test. On your first test, you exceed those 20 points and received at least 3 traffic violations. We accommodated you the next day at the same location free of charge for a second test. From the feedback you must have received after the first exam, your performance improved with only 2 traffic violations, however, still exceeded the 20 points allowed by the state. These exams occurred back in February. Your most recent exam at our Highlands Ranch location occurred in June. It would seem that within that time you honed your skills as a driver and performed according to state standards on your most recent test. While we appreciate that all applicants want to pass the licensing test, it is our responsibility to test according to State standards. Licensing is a serious responsibility and our testers always have the safety of the applicant and all other drivers on the road in mind. Safety is paramount when it comes to driving, and all our DriveSafe locations test according to the standards set by the state. -The DriveSafe Team
Negative experience: I dont care that i failed twice even though it seems to be the trend here. Im mainly rating this a 1 star because after reading reviews i realized this company likes to discuss the failed drivers test out in the open online which i believe highly to be very bad customer service. The results of the test should really be just between instructor and driver. Not posted online because the company is upset they got a bad review. In no way should your customer service be "well we relooked up your name and hey everybody heres how this person failed!" That should really be confidential. So for customer service you recieve a 0 completely. Nick was incredibly informative on why i failed my test. He gave me tips on how to pass next time and was incredibly informative and went through each point marked off, why, and what i need to do next. The next day i tested with Jamie. After the test i failed worse then the day before. I recieved no information on why or what i should do next or practice more. I feel pretty lost after that one. Id appreciate if you as a company do not go over my test publicly after this review in response to my review :) thats extremely unprofessional and really no one elses business but ours! Thanks again! I will be taking my drive test elsewhere.

Our drive testers are trained and audited by the State. The focus of our testers is to meet State requirements to ensure the safety of our student, the tester, and all drivers on the roads. To have failed the drive test twice does not indicate a “trend” at our company, but rather a need to get lessons and additional practice to be safe. The types of actions that lead to failing the drive test, including dangerous actions requiring tester intervention, failure to stop, failure to use turn signals and use of incorrect lanes, are serious and can be corrected with proper training. Fantastic experience: Our son participated in both the Behind-the-Wheel DriveSafe program and the SAT CollegeDrive program at the Lakewood/Littleton office. Without hesitation, we were beyond pleased with both programs. Regarding DriveSafe, our son was surprised by how engaging his driving instructors were, and furthermore, he commented that not only did the two-hour drives go by in a flash, but that he was challenged by the creative situations that his instructors put him in. Additionally, because of his busy sports schedule, we were amazed how easy it was to get drive times that were consistent with his free time. He was even able to take his drive test on his birthday! With respect to the CollegeDrive program, our son took the SAT initially and obtained an average score. We then signed him up for the test-prep program and the results were amazing. He went into the test with much more confidence and his scores were certainly reflective of that. He ended up getting accepted at his first-choice college, and with a very generous scholarship package.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience with this program. Very responsive to any questions we had, easy to get ahold of for scheduling and the instructors for the driving times were knowledgable and engaging with our teenager. I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are referring to at all....our experience was entirely positive!

You completed several lessons with us, and all your instructors recommended more practice behind-the-wheel before testing. This is to help you learn critical safety skills and build your confidence while driving. During the license test, your tester had to take control of the vehicle to prevent a collision. Your last driving lesson reported you at 14 hours of practice total. Like any skill, driving requires practice to master. This is one of the reasons Colorado requires new teen drivers, for example, to complete 50 hours of practice before applying for a license. Driving is especially important to practice because it concerns the safety of yourself and others. You will be happy to know that all second tests through us are free of charge. You may wish to practice before scheduling your second exam, so you feel confident enough to pass. Should you need additional guidance, we would be happy to help you. Negative experience: This place is both greedy and deceptive. They take appointments quickly and efficiently, and they even seem nice. HOWEVER, they will inform you they fail over 80% of testers. I am disappointed at the failure, but more over I am upset because I was informed that they have trouble with instructors failing testers for more income. Probably I will pay another $40 to take the test promptly and return to DriveSafe, but I cannot for the life of me recommend anyone pay these people for their first test. YOU WILL FAIL.

The State of Colorado’s data reflects an 20% failure rate for adults 18 and over, which means about 80% of adults pass the test. This is official state data, which is likely what was cited by the person you spoke to. The drive test process is regulated by the state, which means everyone is graded to the same standard. Even experienced drivers can make errors on the test which lead to a failing score. We offer a reduced rate on second tests so that our customers have a lower economic impact if retesting is required. We wish you the best and hope you found a good solution. Negative experience: Totally disappointed with the failure to communicate dates, requirements and customer service. This lack of service has resulted in a total run around - wasting time and having to come back three different times. Lastly, there was zero appreciation for the impact of not ensuring clear communication - obviously they like to be "right" and completely miss customer service. Not recommended - easier to go to the DMV than deal with attitude here.
