Fantastic experience: My Daughter just had her 1st BTW with Hannah. It was a great experience, Hannah was very professional, she gave great information and instructions. Learning to drive is stressful, but after her first lesson, my daughter felt more confident and relaxed. Thank you.

Negative experience: We had a good and not so good experience with A+ driving school behind the wheel today, hence my low rating. Two different instructors, 2 completely different experiences. One daughter had a wonderful instructor who took her 30+ miles around the area, one way streets, round abouts, plus parking practice. She came back all smiles saying she felt she could take her test and pass today. Twin sister sat in the parking lot 20 minutes before they started driving 3 blocks, her instructor took the next 30 minutes to let her drive less than 2 miles stopping to “talk” to her about driving rules for most of the time. (Isn’t this supposed to be driving practice, not classroom time). Then she drove a mile to a parking lot to practice parking for 45 minutes. She came back all frustrated and discouraged as her instructor got her all confused and provided confusing and difficult to understand driving instructions. (I was tracking her location so I have records of where she was and when) Less than 4 miles of total driving occurred in what should have been over an hour of driving time and a 2 hour total lesson. Yes I did call A+ Driving School to give Kudos to the first teacher and inform about the concerns about the second teacher. But according to second teacher, the lesson went well. And according to the site supervisor, all they could do is ensure we didn’t get that instructor again as second daughter did technically get 2 hours behind the wheel. Very frustrating and discouraging.

Positive experience: The teachers are nice and honest when driving and the classes are entertaining enough but the only issue was that navigating the scheduling sight was a bit confusing but not impossible.

Fantastic experience: Easy to schedule appointments, responsive when you ha e questions, and instructors both classroom and driving, are top notch.

Negative experience: Our kiddo completed the class portion of the 450.00 package. Did not pass the permit test on the first try and put it off. Which is fine. No one in my family was very concerned about this but when my kiddo was ready to start the process again we found out that our package had expired 9 days ago. Instead of trying to work with us or extend the contract, grant us any wiggle room at all... we were greeted with at "You had 2 years and your child's contract is now expired". As a business owner myself I'm deeply disappointed that we spent a dollar with them. If you are looking for a business that only wants your money and is not willing to work with you ever, this is the place. 2 years may seem like a long time but when you pre-pay for a service there really shouldn't be an expiration date. It also shouldn't be automatically cancelled once the child is 18. Buyer beware.

Fantastic experience: Our 4th child is finishing up his experience with A+ and is having an exceptional one, just like his 3 siblings did. A+ prepares students for not only their permit and road tests, but makes them responsible, knowledgeable, and confident drivers. They have several options that fits anyone’s busy schedule. I highly recommend using A+ for your kiddo’s learning!

Fantastic experience: My son had Derek as an instructor for his 1st behind the wheel and he has not stopped talking about how fun and informative Derek was. He keyed into a few things to work on by making it relatable to my to my son’s world like when he plays hockey scanning board to board in the driving scene. Derek also gave him some great tips for parking, which we practice everyday! Thanks Derek for making it such a great experience for my son!

Fantastic experience: I just passed my behind the wheel test after I took lessons with A+ driving school. I didn’t have any prior experience yet instructor Kelly had taught me all the things starting from basic to advanced level and she made me comfortable at driving. She was good at giving instructions in a way anyone who didn’t know how to drive can absolutely understand. I had a really great experience and definitely recommend A+ driving school.

He goes the extra mile, even offering additional tips, videos and advice the day before the test. If you want to trust that your child is well-prepared and confident behind the wheel, taking a lesson with David is a wise decision. You'll quickly understand why he's so highly regarded by his students and their families

Fantastic experience: My son had a great experience with both the classroom instruction and behind the wheel. For our final behind the wheel we had David Jr. Going downtown was overwhelming a bit but he called and talked to us after the lesson and gave feedback on what our son did well and what he should work on before he took the test. He emailed us some helpful videos and resources as well. It was very impressive. My only complaint was how difficult it was to schedule behind the wheels. You really have to do so very far in advance or continually check for cancellations.

Negative experience: After watching a car with students and an instructor completely blow a stop sign and cut me off, I can say this is somewhere I wouldn’t send my kids to learn how to drive.

Positive experience: Update (three to four stars): Third and final behind the wheel went good. Instructor was Tim. Thank you! Update (two to three stars): Second behind the wheel was fantastic (Scott was the instructor). First thing she said when we picked her up was "that was so much better!". Daughter said Scott actively gave clear guidance and tips, asked her if she wanted to work on anything specific, and gave advice/information for a future test at Arden Hills DMV. Had she been assigned Scott from the start I'd have given 5 stars to A+. There is a significant difference between BTW instructors. A+ admin is responsive (thank you!). I'll update again after last BTW. UPDATE (from one to two stars): A+ provided a prompt and somewhat reasonable response to this review via a followup email I sent. I plan to round out my daughter's driving experience by teaching her freeway and city driving prior to her last two BTW. They did offer to refund my last two prepaid lessons and that I could ride along on the BTW if I wanted. --- Classroom instruction was fine, my daughter aced the written test after taking the permit course. Today was my daughter's first behind the wheel, and based on what she told me, it was poorly instructed. As A+ suggested, daughter has been practicing since getting a learners permit (15+ hrs with us in all weather and times of day, + county hwys), but had not prepared her to do any freeway driving yet. I was under the impression that freeway driving was not part of the first behind the wheel, so I didn't push to help her to develop that skill (every time I offered she said "not yet") before her first BTW. Not doing the freeway before the first BTW, turns out, was a mistake. For my next teen driver, I will be sure she feels confident on the freeway before the first BTW. The A+ instructor (Savannah) did not ask if she had been on the freeway, nor did the instructor tell her that the freeway was possible if she seemed ready. But, surprise (!), daughter was directed to enter the freeway with NO INSTRUCTIONS on entering/merging/exiting. Daughter didn't know where she was going until she was instructed to turn onto a 35E southbound onramp in Forest Lake. Daughter was surprised and nervous at the sudden entrance. At one point a semi truck merged onto the freeway while daughter was driving in the right lane. Knowing right-of-way rules daughter expected the semi driver to see and adjust for her position (he didn't). She said she felt like she should merge to the left lane but instead waited for guidance from instructor (who said nothing). Daughter's indecision (understandable as a newbie) combined with instructor's silence resulted in her being right alongside him in the right lane, too close, she felt, and in his blind spot, while he ran out of room to merge. The instructor eventually said "maybe you should go faster", which she then did, to avoid a collision. Daughter said when she was driving the Instructor was sometimes on her phone. I don't know for how long or for what purpose. There were no comments about the freeway experience on the "score sheet" the instructor filled out and sent home with my daughter (criteria for freeway driving were only listed for 2nd/3rd BTW lessons). I feel like my daughter was put into a needlessly stressful/potentially dangerous situation during her first BTW.

Fantastic experience: The behind the wheel lesson with Jon N was excellent for my son. Learned a lot.

Fantastic experience: A Plus was fantastic Their class schedules are easy to work with and their customer support is fast and helped me with questions and scheduling needs several times. I can’t say enough good things about the people there.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. Had an instructor show up 15 minutes late to a driving lesson, that instructor did not know what they were doing, did not give direction clearly, tried multiple times to get my son to change lanes when it wasn't safe, gave directions when it was too late to safely change lanes and take turns. After missing a turn my son asked if he should make a "3-point turn" and the instructor had no idea what he was talking about. My son lost confidence and ability after that 2nd lesson but A Plus refused to make it right or admit they had poorly trained instructors. After completing his third session the instructor failed to provide him with his White Card proof of completion so we were unable to test and get his license, after driving two hours to a testing center. When I called to get the card they accused me of losing it and they refused to take responsibility for their mistake.

Fantastic experience: Really nice-thought that sine it was online it would be boring, but no, these people are filled with energy! (Although their jokes aren't the best) would be nice to have some more interactive activities, though

Fantastic experience: I can now proudly say that I’ve gotten two teenagers through driving school. We’ve had a great experience with the team at A+. They are patient and they take time to guide both students and parents through the confusion. Very happy to have this hurdle behind us, and very pleased with the overall experience with the A+ instructors

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible company. Woman at the front desk yelling on the phone at someone who called in about a driver of theirs not driving the speed limit and swerving. The manager in the back couldn't get control of his staff as she continued her disrespectful and unprofessional conversation with someone who called in to assist and help. Even through the cheap earplugs could hear this argument. Couldn't get out fast enough. Went to St Paul DMV took a free test and passed no issues. Take your tests and kids elsewhere, if they can't control their staff, treat customers and the public like this imagine what they will teach your kids. Sad day when the DMV is more professional and respectful than a private business. Horrible company. And unprofessional staff.

Fantastic experience: A+ is so awesome! When we were looking to get a specific instructor, they were so accommodating. I highly recommend A+ to anybody! My daughter has felt so comfortable with their instructors for behind-the-wheel even though she is scared of driving.

Fantastic experience: I have to say that you all do a wonderful job at teaching drivers training. The online zoom calls are great and engaging. The energy that the two teachers bring is really welcoming. I work up north, and have seen other drivers ed classes, they just don't compare to what A+ Driving does. Thank you for keeping a fun and engaging learning environment. The distance learning options were perfect for my student-athlete. If there was a date that didn't work, making up that date is simple. One call or email to A+ Driving and it was taken care of. Thank you for teaching our young drivers!

Fantastic experience: Even though A+ is short on trainers, they managed to get my daughter trained before her 16th birthday. The trainers were always on time and communicated very well with her and me (parent). My daughter passed her drivers test on the first attempt! We couldn't be happier with A+

Fantastic experience: I had a very minor issue. I was able to call and work right through it. One phone call. Very easy to deal with. Classes were originally at the school so easy to deal with. Plenty of scheduling times available for behind the wheel. I recommend them for your child as they have done classes and behind the wheel for both of my children.

Negative experience: Boy, oh boy. I've seen quite a few of these A Plus "teachers" on the roads with students, doing all the wrong things. Cruising in the left lane, holding up traffic. Speeding. Driving in the blind spots of big rigs (their passenger side). Passing on the right, just to name a few. No wonder there are so many bad drivers in the twin cities if your teachers are letting them do everything wrong. Need some accountability for your teachers, cameras to review after each lesson would be best. They and the school needs to do better. Driving is not a game and not a right.

Fantastic experience: This is our second time around with A+ Driving School and our experience is great again. Our family appreciated the flexibility of classes, times, dates and sessions. Anytime I emailed/called my questions were answered right away. It is definitely worth paying a little extra since the services offered far surpass other offerings available.

Fantastic experience: It was effective, and used very funny videos and similar tools to help us learn about the things you need to know about driving.

Negative experience: Very inconvenient behind the wheel scheduling . My first two kiddos did A+ classroom and behind the wheel, and it was a great experience all around. My third child did the classroom portion through A+ and I signed up for the behind the wheel classes as a package deal. As I try to schedule the behind the wheel lessons in Plymouth I am just about in tears. As you pick an available date and time online, it will not tell you until just before your lesson if the pick up location will be at Armstrong HS or Wayzata HS (they no longer do home pick-ups/ drop-offs). You have to keep scheduling it and waiting a week to find out, then you have to cancel and re-schedule if it is not the location you want. There is no way to know ahead of time which location you are scheduling for - it is sort of the "guess and test" method, which is very frustrating and time consuming. When you express your frustration to the person who answers at the office, you get sort of a "too bad so sad" response. I would definitely NOT go with A+ Driving School in the future. I am at the end of my rope.

Negative experience: Only had to retake 2 hours to get my 30 and they made me redo the hole class

Fantastic experience: Great classroom material, and SUCH convenient times for the students. We appreciated the good communication, flexibility of classes that work best for our family based on the day of the week, and overall efficiency. Will definitely be utilizing again with the next driver-to-be in our home.

Negative experience: I set my review to one star because of the instructor I had for my first Behind the Wheel. He was a man named James and he yelled at me while I drove until I cried. Real tears. He saw me crying and continued to yell at me. He told me he was sure I barely had any driving experience when I had 15 hours, but just around certain parts of town because my mom wasn’t comfortable with me going on highways yet. I told him that. He did not care. He would yell instructions at me on what to do and where to turn at the last second, before I could even put my blinker on, and the entire time I just cried. THIS LEARNING STYLE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. Part of the way through when we went to a parking lot for parking practice, he apologized to me. I accepted the apology but I still think that it’s completely unacceptable to bully your driving students the way that James did. After my session, my driving confidence was so low that I didn’t want to drive at all for another two weeks. It was terrible. I know this location likes to post snarky responses to bad reviews, but this is the truth and you can sure try but there is no way to invalidate this. I hope someone sees this and takes it seriously. I cant wait to get my license and get out of here.

Negative experience: Online class was good and convenient. However, info regarding acquiring a blue card and BTW training was severely lacking. I actually got an email stating "your (blank) will be sent to you shortly"... and nothing was sent. I attempted on multiple occasions to contact via phone with no answer and email addresses given on their website did not work. My husband finally got someone on the phone, but they had no idea what they were talking about stating we had to pay for a blue card in order to receive it.

Fantastic experience: Took drivers ed here during covid. The folks here did a really good job adapting classroom stuff to zoom. They even did better than my school teachers!

Negative experience: I paid for two of my children and two grandchildren because that's what my school district uses for driver's ed. I'm very disappointed with their service. The last straw was a $50 charge for a change of appointment I will tell you they had me on a technicality this time. BTW was schedule for 1:00 on a Thursday and on Tuesday that week she had a scheduling conflict so when I came home from work that day she told me we went online and canceled and rescheduled that appointment. However when it came time to make the next appointment we were blocked because of $50 cancellation fee. When I reached out to them and explained I called two days in advance that's when the very rude employee told me yes but you called at 2:17 on Tuesday and unfortunately it was only 46 and 3/4 hours notice now really I probably could have lived with this fee until I started reading reviews online and noticed that the owner's response as a general rule was always an excuse why the customer was wrong never once did I see him offer anyone an apology my complaint is not about them holding to their policies is solely about the negative way they treat their customers. their customer service leaves a lot to be desired!. Again the owners response is it is the customers fault. At what point do you admit that your employees might need a little bit of training in customer service. Of course maybe the training should start with the owner.

Fantastic experience: Amazing instructor's.

Negative experience: My son recently took his permit test at the A+ driving school. This testing facility was NOT QUIET during the test. There were 6 people in the same room talking loudly so he was not able to concentrate. The fees to take this test are overpriced, and I do not recommend having your child take their permit test at this A+ Driving School.

Fantastic experience: My son went through the online drivers ed class and the instructors were great. My son learned a lot and feels like he is ready to take the knowledge test and start practicing. I also found out that he can take his test right at a local A+ office, super convenient! I would highly recommend A+ Driving School!

Negative experience: Class time was fine. Behind the wheel couldn't be more inconvenient. Instructor doesn't pick the student up at home therefore a parent or other driver has to be available to drive the student to White Bear Lake ( in our case) for the 2-hour session. My daughter completed her first BTW and tried to sign up for a second and it wasn't letting her do it on line. So the already limited spots become more limited as we wait to be able to schedule the next session. I have 2 other drivers that took drivers ed through SPPS and it was wonderful. Glad this is my last driver, don't ever want to do this again and would not recommend A+. Customer service is great, but that's the only positive thing I can say.

Negative experience: We had a disappointing experience with our second behind the wheel. My daughter's location was changed a few days before the appointment. My daughter didn't see the email until the day of her appointment. When I called to express my displeasure with this, the person on the phone lied to me and said my daughter had been sent an email the day after she scheduled telling us about the location change. However, that confirmation email said nothing about a location change. I expected that when we signed up for a specific school, that is where the drop off/pick up would be. The person on the phone blamed me for not knowing that the location could change at their whim - saying I had agreed to all their terms. She also blamed me for not putting my email in as the contact email. This was super inconvenient for us to drive elsewhere The staff showed no concern and gave no apology. It might have been fine if we'd known sooner - I was very disappointed that the person on the phone lied to me.

Fantastic experience: My daughter took A plus class and behind the wheel. The instructor, Nate, did a fantastic job.

Negative experience: The day of the third lesson, they tried to reschedule the final lesson for after her test date. When we couldn't do that, the lesson was done with the instructor not in the car due to COVID exposure and not much time was spent actually driving. When we requested an additional lesson, we were charged, even though the third lesson was less than what we expected and had experienced with older children who had basically run a mock test in through the same program. Very dissapointed that they use COVID as a crutch for not being staffed to run their business. Edit add: We had originally scheduled the lesson prior, but the student had broken her driving foot and this was the last option we were able to get on short notice after she was cleared for driving without having to reschedule her test.

Negative experience: used them because we only have one car. And you "can " use theres for the test . Well found out a week before the test that o we dont offer that anymore . When I called and asked they just said they don't do it. I asked why is it still on your website then . I had to tell them were I found it on the site. And yes we payed extra to use there car. I was pretty much told to bad. I would not recommend them at all.

Fantastic experience: We have had 2 students go through A and have nothing but wonderful experiences. It's super easy to book BTW lessons and the instructors have been punctual and skilled. My kids easily connected with them and came back feeling very knowledgeable and positive about driving (one of mine was frightened!). I would recommend A+ without hesitancy, they were wonderful!

Positive experience: The teacher named Chris is possibly the worst teacher i have ever met. I only came in to her class twice and I am so glad she was not my main drivers ed teacher. She just reads off the slides and tells irrelevant stories about her life. Sometimes she just doesn't teach and has the kids read the slides by themselves and she doesn't explain it. She hates people and says she would rather hang with dogs than people. She never answers questions, she tweaks and randomly yells at us. She says that the kids in her class need to pass a 82 question quiz and get ALL OF THEM RIGHT TO PASS THE CLASS otherwise everyone has to retake the whole class. I have no idea how she has the permission to teach kids, she is the most disrespectful teacher I have ever met. Her people skills are off the charts and I mean that in a bad way. Some teachers can be annoying but I have never seen a teacher as disrespectful and rude to her students. If she doesn't like kids and people, why is she a teacher??? If A+ Driving sees this review, please do something about this. No student should pay 400 dollars for a class and be treated this way

Fantastic experience: I took an adult class for behind the wheel and I absolutely loved it! I passed my license test on my first try! Staffs were friendly and knowledgeable as well. Totally recommended for adults that are nervous about taking their road test or needed improvements!

I have had three of my children go through the licensing process with A+ and it has been a smooth process each time. They are also always willing to go the extra mile to try and accommodate for dates and times. I have been very happy with their service. I wouldn't worry about the negative reviews, after you read them they make sense...… You probably shouldn't take advice from atheist pothead liberals anyway...… :)

Fantastic experience: A+ Driving School was great! Classes were at my sons high school which was super convenient. Behind the wheel instructors picked up and dropped off at our house. Scheduling on line was quick and easy. Having the road test added just after the 3rd behind the wheel was great and well worth the extra cost. I can’t think of any negatives. We were very pleased with all aspects of A+.

Negative experience: I had nothing but issue after issue with this establishment. The only good thing was the instructor Dan. Their office needs to get their paperwork in order and learn how to take detailed notes after speaking to someone about an issue.

The only minor complaint I have is that the website is a bit of a hassle to navigate and schedule time but the service provided was great. Would recommend to anyone.

Negative experience: Very disappointed that my son signed up for a behind the wheel and they canceled 10 minutes before and the next weekend appointment is over a month away and nothing can be done to reschedule before that. I questioned them being open on Easter and we doubled checked. We planned the day around this. They knew it was Easter and they should have said no one was working that day.

Fantastic experience: I definitely recommend A+ Driving School. I just finished my classroom lessons, so I'm now ready to take my permit test. I think that the instructors did such a good job teaching that I'll get a good score on the permit test, and then I'll do good on the road as well :) Edit: With help from A+ Driving School, yesterday I passed my permit test with flying colors!

Fantastic experience: I took the parents class in the spring of 2018. Michael was the instructor and did a fabulous job. He was very respectful to the parents by acknowledging everyone's questions, starting on time, finishing on time, and keeping it as easy-going as it could possibly be. I look forward to my son taking classroom and BTW later this year. For me, I learned a great deal about my role and responsibility as a 1st time Driver Educator to my teenager. thanks michael!

Fantastic experience: Dan the man is amazing

Fantastic experience: I had 2 h lesson of behind-the-wheel with an instructor named Bee. He is an excellent teacher! Bee explained the rules in a very clear way, which helps to learn driving quickly. He was very calm and patient. Bee paid close attention to my driving and gave me helpful suggestions to improve my weak spots. I highly recommend this instructor and A+ school!

Fantastic experience: Where do I begin? The staff is friendly, helpful and were patient with me!!! I had taken my test a few times before and unfortunately failed each time. I passed on my first shot with A+. More importantly, I feel that I have the skills needed to be a safe and great driver for years to come. Thank you A+
