Needham Driving School

Positive experience: I was lucky with my instructor Dave. He’s extremely calm and encouraging, very straightforward about his feedback and doesn’t get frustrated. However mind this when buying classes at this school - their schedule is super packed, so the earliest you’ll get a class is after 2 months from the date of booking (unless you are lucky to claim one of the lessons they post daily on twitter - within 20-30 sec they are all claimed). I just think the availability should be available before you pay for the package.

Negative experience: The instructor won’t teach you anything important that will help you pass the road test. Most of the time is spent on driving to the places of parallel parking. Yet, in one hour I only got to do 2 parallel parking. Moreover, the instructor is not being encouraging. They will make you feel you are not prepared for the road test and hope you can pay for more classes. A complete waste of money and time. I have taken three class and I feel very disappointed! Would not recommend.

Negative experience: I am extremely unhappy with the service I received at this driving school. Many of the driving instructors do not provide supportive feedback for the teens to learn from their mistakes. This left my child very unprepared for my driving exam, which they thus failed. Moreover, they were not given feedback as to why they failed the exam. I wrote an email requesting for a retake, where I discovered that it will cost an additional $75 out of pocket. This is extremely upsetting as all of the money I spent on this place did not prepare my child whatsoever.

Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved our experience with Needham Driving School. My daughter is high-functioning autistic and Sharon was her driving instructor. Sharon was so patient and went above and beyond with extra lessons for my daughter. Sharon made sure my daughter was comfortable and confident along the way, always making safety the top priority. My daughter passed her driving test the first time with flying colors. The staff were so friendly and accommodating with scheduling. You could tell they all had a vested interest in how their students were progressing throughout the process. The email reminders were super helpful and it was easy to manage all the details online if needed. We will be coming back to NDS for our two younger children. We wouldn't go anywhere else after this experience. Thank you Paul and Sharon!

Negative experience: Needham driving school has been very disappointing. They make it pretty much impossible to get enough hours to do your road test and it will take you forever unless you are able to be on twitter every second of the day. Its really an awful system they have up right now and I've heard of much better ones done by other driving schools in the area. Also one driving instructor Dionna made it the worst experience I've ever had in a driving lesson. She did manage to teach me nothing and only made driving for that hour harder and miserable after howing up late to pick me up.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with this driving school after going to a different one - I wish I could get a refund. Do NOT schedule a road test with them. Too Long;Didn't Read summary at the bottom. Fun fact - forget about calling them. They just let all calls go to voicemail. I was there when someone called and the person in the office didn't pick up. I've called them multiple times to no avail. If you're someone that needs to be in the same car with an instructor that tailors their teaching to you, this is not the place. If you're lucky enough to get a lesson in the first place (the slots fill up fast), it will be with different instructors and different cars. It's very annoying and not conducive to actually learning how to drive and forming good habits. Here are some of my bad experiences: Some of the instructors are okay and very patient. Some are clearly there to just do their job - I wasted 5-10 minutes of multiple sessions just waiting for my instructor to finish going to the bathroom (a sign that admin needs to do better with scheduling back to back lessons). I even picked up another instructor like an errand girl when I was supposed to be learning how to drive. There is one instructor that has said questionable things to me as a POC. Of course, as the student who is significantly younger and who just wants to learn how to drive, this made me uncomfortable and feel like I was unable to speak up. Additionally, during student pickups, I've witnessed instructors refuse to drop a student off at a more convenient location for the student, forcing them to go back home because they're 'not a taxi service,' but other instructors drop their students off. The road test has a $100 fee for nothing. They glamorize their passing rate during the first lesson but didn't even bring me to the road test route during my last lesson (signalling a lack of communication between teachers and admin). You are not allowed to get comfortable with a new car because the proctor is already in there. I do not even know what the $100 fee goes to because I'm sure going to the RMV is significantly cheaper if money is an issue for you. TL;DR I'm sure other people have had good experiences with Needham Driving School, but frankly, I feel like I've been snubbed as an adult learner. I wasn't going to leave a review about my experiences until my sister told me that this school took advantage of how I don't know what the best practice is for driving schools (i.e., driving in the same car, being familiar with the operations of that very car, and having the same instructor who can observe your bad habits and correct them). Thankfully, I passed the driver's test with the help of another school. I just wish I didn't waste 9 hours of my life forming bad driving habits.

Fantastic experience: I just want to say how much my twin boys enjoyed Keith as there teacher!!! They passed there test and waiting to get permits!! They can not wait to do drive time. I am sure they will enjoy it just as much. Thank you so much ! I have to add now that the boys have completed there drive times,I am and my boys can not say enough kind words about the staff Here. We would recommend them 10times over !

Fantastic experience: Needham driving school has been nothing short of wonderful! My nephew first used them after failing his road test else where multiple times. After a round of driving lessons with the amazing instructors and completing his road test he finally passed! My son also completed driving school here and had an amazing experience. He passed on his first try. We couldn’t be happier and will send our younger kids here as well.

Fantastic experience: This is the third driving school my family has used over the years and it is in a league of its own. The phone is answered 90% of the time and if they can't answer, they call back quickly. The office staff is professional and helpful. All of the instructors have been kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I only wish we had used Needham Driving School sooner.

He learned how to parallel park! 100 hours rule was what we followed and it worked. Video tutorials were useful. My son told me that driving instructors were all friendly and took their job seriously. Two hands on the wheel!

Fantastic experience: My daughter just passed her road test (first try) and I am confident that she is and will remain a safe and courteous driver thanks to Paul and every member of his team. From the effective and engaging classroom instruction (never would have believed that my daughter would actually enjoy and stay focused in a five-day intensive all-day course) to the parent class, to the on-road instruction, to the sponsorship of the road test, this program was of the highest quality and worth every penny.

Fantastic experience: As an adult I was lucky to enroll with NDS. The staff is very professional and reliable. For someone like me who started learning how to drive at age of 37 and never had any driving experience before, my experience with NDS was outstanding. A big shout out to my instructor Valdir Brandao who made this process very enjoyable with his personal and confident approach. Thanks to Valdir I passed the road test the very first time. I highly recommend him and NDS if you would like to get the best driving education in the Boston area. Definitely worth the money.

I want to especially mention Cynthia (who is an amazing teacher with a lot of patience and a great personality). I just had one lesson with her but she was amazing. I also want to say, a big thank you to Ian. Though I didn't do classes with him, he was present at the road test and put me at ease both times and walked through the whole process calmly and gave me a lot of last minute pointers which most definitely helped me with nailing it the second time around. But my biggest thank you would be for Bill who gave me a lesson a couple of days before the road test. He is such an exceptional instructor who went that little extra mile and totally made me confident about getting it right the second time around. I wanted to thank him for his encouragement, patience and confidence in me that helped me smoothly pass the test. You are one heck of a teacher, Bill!!!!

All my friends who have taken drivers ed elsewhere said it sucks and is so boring but I have had a really fun entertaining experience at needham, while still learning a lot! Megan keeps the mood fun and light, but serious when needed. She's great!

Negative experience: Bad experience in so many ways. I would give 0 stars if this were possible. Very expensive. Each instructor has a different way of explaining parallel parking, so it is very confusing. When it comes time to take the driving test, the layout is so tight, the test is more difficult than at the registry. The OWNER is like a drill sergeant. STAY AWAY!

I heard that going through the process of getting a license was a pain, but from my experience here, I have to say that I disagree. Between the classroom hours and the behind the wheel instruction, I felt engaged in what was being taught.

The instructors were all great and Paul made the process very easy and understandable for the parents. It is very apparent that three generations of devotion to driver's education produce superior results.

Negative experience: Worst driving experience! Instructors that do not care about you passing, but rather to get as much $$ as possible! They promise to help you, but then take back their words.

Fantastic experience: If you're trying to choose a driving school there should be no question: Needham Driving School is the best one out there. Paul somehow managed to make the 30 hours of classroom lessons fly by. Not only does he teach us the required material from the manual, but he gives us lots of advice from his own experiences for when we start driving that will make it a lot easier to get started. I would recommend NDS to anyone!

Paul somehow has the ability to make 30 hours of driving discussion often very enjoyable and entertaining, while still doing a great job teaching. Paul is super funny and a great guy who really wants you to get your license. Not only that, but he's very friendly and very nice and somebody you want to teach your high school classes all year. He will help you get your license, whether that's helping you get your hours in, or finding the right class. I would definitely recommend Needham Driving School to anybody.

Him and the other instructors ranged through a wide variety of looking at the various subjects we were meant to cover, while at the same time being incredibly engaging. Whether it be through personal narratives and stories, educational Videos, or simply interacting with the students, each 2/3 hour session was exciting and quick. The material needed was all covered, as well as remembered. Bottom line is, Paul is a boss.

Fantastic experience: Just finished up my 30 hours today with the accelerated course! Couldn't have been happier. Although there was a lot to learn, Paul made the experience fun and exciting and was very interactive with the class. He definitely had to put up with a lot, and I applaud him for his teaching ability. Definitely would recommend the Needham Driving School to anyone who needs it for their 30 hours. Fantastic experience: I just finished my 30 hours of instruction with the Needham Driving School and they could not have gone better. I was lucky enough to have Paul, the owner, teach my class who taught all the material in a fun and interesting way, which is difficult to do for busy teenagers. I am also completing my driving and observation hours with NDS and have been very pleased. All of the instructors I have received have been kind, helpful and have showed me exactly what to expect on the license test. If you want engaging and informative classes and driving lessons, Needham Driving School is a great choice.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Needham Driving School, but Anna Sab was especially awesome! She really cares about all of the kids she drives with. She has fun conversations while we drive, and makes the time fly by; she's really easy to talk to. Her advice is amazing and she really knows how to help coach you through learning to drive and improve. I would definitely recommend Needham Driving School and their driving instructor, who are all great, but particularly Anna Sab.

Fantastic experience: Needham Driving School is the best! AnnaSab is AMAZING!!! My friends and I had her for the class and loved it! Her enthusiasm and love of what she does made it so much fun and made the days fly by. I loved her class so much I had her for all of my hours as well. Her experience as a life coach brings a ton of "positive energy" and makes learning enjoyable. She really connects with each of her students and genuinely cares about each and every teenager. She goes above and beyond as a teacher and also teaches students to think positively and believe in themselves. I could not have asked for a better driving experience and for a better teacher. Paul is also extremely nice and makes sure all students learn in a friendly environment. I would highly recommend Needham Driving School!!!!
