Fantastic experience: I could not offer a higher, more positive review of CDS (Port Orchard). From my first phone inquiries, Jessica was as helpful as she was cheerful. She made my decision to attend CDS rather than one of the other schools easy. Without question, she is the voice of CDS and she represents well. Hez, the Lead Instructor has cultivated a safe, fun learning environment and his team of instructors are absolutely top notch. Rick is the man! While he may look like an angry Viking, he is not. He brings a positive, optimistic approach to teaching and makes learning to drive trucks fun. In the yard, Matt, looking oddly like a runaway garden gnome, does an amazing job teaching “pre-trip”, air systems and backing. And finally Sean, balances the lessons with a practical, “real world” approach that provides students with the confidence to make mistakes and learn from them. All the instructors’ individual styles are complimentary to each other and it is obvious that they love what they do. The four weeks spent there were some of the most fun I’ve had and I feel as though I left having made some lifelong friendships. Hez, Rick, Sean, Matt, Izzy, Hannah and Jessica; I cannot thank you enough for your professionalism, encouragement, and support throughout my time there. You guys rock!

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience coming here! I was so nervous going into driving trucks because it was going to be a new career for me. Every instructor and office staff there was very friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. It was cool to train with different instructors different weeks because I took a piece of advice or learned something new from all of them. To be honest it’s kind of bitter sweet when training was over because everyone there felt like I’ve known them forever. Great crowd. Best advice is to study study study. If you have a question don’t be afraid to ask. If I had to do it again I’d come back to CDS. I’m so happy I followed thru with going here as well because now I have a great paying job driving a tanker and I LOVE driving everyday. It’s really neat because you see some cool scenery that you never would if it wasn’t for driving truck! Best wishes!

Fantastic experience: I had an absolute blast at the Port Orchard Campus. Learning from each instructor individually gave an insight to each persons way of driving. They were extremely forgiving when we made mistakes and were always there to help answer any and all questions. Every last instructor made the experience a breeze with real life experiences. There was never any pressure, they let you progress at your own speed and helped you every minute along the way. They prepped us extremely well to go take our DOL test and made testing an every day maneuver, which helped me to pass first try. Im excited to start my career and I couldn’t thank the school and the instructors enough. First day out of school and I already got to show off all the things I learned here. Fantastic experience: All of the people there at cds Port Orchard are very friendly, respectful and know what they are doing. The level of education I received from all of them was above and beyond my expectations. They provide an opportunity to learn a new skill and gain the confidence and knowledge necessary to succeed. All of the instructors there at cds are unique and each one has there own strengths in and out of the truck. They will do there best to give you the best possible chance to obtain your cdl. Although, there is an alternate side of the coin here and that’s you! The instructors can do all they can do but if you don’t want it and put in the work what do you think will happen? That being said, I would highly recommend this campus specifically for the following reasons; Jessica, Hannah, Matt, Hez, Rick, Shawn, Joel, and last but not least my favorite, Izzy. All of these individuals and instructors are there to help you along the way in this new chapter of your life. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and watch out for inside right hand turns. Positive experience: While it is difficult to get a CDL washington. CDS is on point. Sean is a wonderful instructor, Hez is a very knowledgeable lead instructor and Izzy keeps you engaged in the classroom! If I had to do it again I would chose CDS everytime!

Fantastic experience: I am a recent graduate of CDS Port Orchard, and this was absolutely the best school to attend to help me get prepared to obtain my class A commercial drivers license. A huge shout out to the the office staff and amazing instructors! I was able to pass my test on the first try, and the office staff helped me update my resume and gave me a referral to my first local driving job. I now drive a concrete mixer truck for Miles Sand and Gravel and I love it! Special thanks to... Jessica: for answering all my questions. Aunna: helping me with my resume and job referrals. Al: for teaching such a great class the first week. Hanna: all the encouragement and pre-trip testing. Shawn O: helping me with gear recovery and backing like a champ. Sean S: helping me with the inside pre-trip, getting through the gears, gaining overall driving experience, and mostly for his demeanor, he was very easy to learn from and was very patient with me. Steve: explaining to me and getting me to understand how the RPMs and speed work together, also helping me with my inside pre-trip. Hez: helping me with my shifting and giving me a great referral to Miles Sand and Gravel. Mark H: for his awesome and real time inside pre-trip demonstration. He really made a difference on how to present myself when being tested. Izzy: for all her help with pre-trip, making/studying the flash cards, and pushing me to do the best I can. Lots of laughs and great memories. Jaden: with all his help on the simulator and getting the hang of shifting. I highly recommend going to this school if you want to get your CDL, but they don't just give it to you, you have to do the work and study hard to be able to pass the tests, driving and written. Fantastic experience: CDS - Port Orchard is the MOST fun, encouraging, organized, professional and caring group of people I have met in a long time. The managers, instructors and office staff Aunna, Hez, Hannah, Izzy, Jaden, Sean S, Shaun O, and Jessica were supportive and ensured I fully understood the CDL process and education portion of the course, if I had questions someone was always available to ask. My driving instructors Hez and Sean were always organized, professional, cool, calm and collected (driving a large semi on the road for the first time can be scary) their ability to help you think through an issue in a potentially high stress situation while on the road is nothing short of amazing! Love them! Their knowledge of the WSDOT and DOL safety regulations and expectations is something that they know well. They ensure every I is dotted and T is crossed. If you are thinking about getting your CDL this is your school! Don’t walk, run! CDS Executives and Management - Congratulations on your stellar team! A small group done right achieves big things! You run a tight ship in Port Orchard with some excellent people at the helm! Bravo!

Fantastic experience: All The instructors were great, especially Both Shawn's, Hess, and Izzy. I wouldn't have passed the backing test with out the backing genius Shawn's help, I wouldn't have passed my pre-trip with out all of Izzy's motivation, and I wouldn't have passed my drive test with out the close tutoring of both Shawn's and Hess.

Fantastic experience: CDS instructors were knowledgeable, professional, and great at instructing. I was able to take my DOL skills test on the final Friday of class and passed first attempt, thanks to the excellent teaching from the CDS employees.

Fantastic experience: Went here twice. Once in 2020 to get a Class B and again in 2023 to get a Class A. Both times I walked away with something valuable and an increase in earnings once I got a job rolling. The course can be tough and the instructors stern, but I found great value in the attention and knowledge they had to give. They are also pretty cool people, I even adopted a chicken from one. Washington is one of if not the hardest state to get a CDL in and by far I would recommend CDS as the place to train for it.

Fantastic experience: This was a great school to go to! I was really happy with my choice to get my CDL here. The instructors were great! They made sure we were really prepared with all the knowledge that we needed. 4 weeks isn't a lot of time but they did amazing! Overall I'd say we had a lot of fun and the instructors were pretty cool to hang around. You'll get out what you put in but if you just follow what the instructors tell you then you really can't go wrong.

Fantastic experience: I throughly enjoyed my time at CDS in Port Orchard. This school was fun and the class I was with had all great people. We were more like friends than classmates when we were finished. The people that own and run the school are phenomenal and will support and work with you from start to finish! The teachers are knowledgeable and care about your progress toward the actual skills test (which is not easy). I didn’t want the school to end to be honest. It isn’t just CDs Port Orchard, I met students from other CDS schools at the DOL testing site in Spanaway and they were just as awesome as the guys I was in class with. I am really glad I chose CDS. Fantastic experience: My recent experience was enjoyable at CDS. Julie was the front office staff at Port Orchard site and was very personable. All instructors there bring something to the table both experience and individual teaching style and enjoyed them all. I give a special thanks to driving instructors Richard and Mark especially, but also the two Sean driving instructors while at the Port Orchard campus. Driving Instructor Richard is loaded in knowledge from the road and has a lot to share if you keep an open mind. If it's pretrip tips and advice you need, Hez and Hannah are the go to person's and great at getting you confident in that aspect. Thank you Port Orchard CDS staff. Your the best.

Fantastic experience: If you're thinking about joining this school, DO IT!!! I had been a CDL driver in the past but it had been twenty years+ so I was rusty to say the least. After the four weeks and 160 hours I took my state test and drive home with my class A. I owe that to the teachings of CDS. Hez, Issa, Joe and AAron were amazing instructors , all with their own styles of instructing. They treat you with the utmost respect and put you at complete ease . I would recommend CDS to anyone who is thinking of making driving their lifelong career.

Fantastic experience: Commercial Driver School in Port Orchard is a solid choice if you're looking for training to get your Commercial License. For starters, the classroom portion - 40 hours - is very straightforward and done at a solid pace. There's a lot of information being thrown at you as soon as you sit down, but simply pay attention and use common sense. Following the classroom portion and moving into field training, the instructors there will take the time to explain every question that you have. Rick is very laid back, easy to talk with, and will answer any questions you may have. He also empowers you to take it out on public roads right off the bat. Richard takes his time and makes sure that you are doing everything according to the DOL standards. He also is very knowledgeable and can answer any inquiry that you may have. Mark is a squared away dude, as he has patience and will help you correct any mistakes along the way. Steve is friendly and outgoing, but is also straight forward with getting you the information that you're going to need once you go to the 'real-world.' What Aaron lacks with an actual mustache, he makes up for with professional experience in trucking and a solid ability to take the time with each and every student. Brandon is a laid-back instructor, but he takes the time to answer any questions or help in any way that he can. Hezekiah runs a solid crew, and definitely will work with anyone in order to get them up to the level they need to be at. He is able to joke around and banter with students to make them feel more comfortable, but he also shows his professional side by how tight of a ship he runs. Izzy is very squared away, and knows exactly how to prepare you for the HazMat test. She's also very friendly and knows how to joke around, but her serious side shows that she cares for her job and is willing to go the extra mile. Ms. Hannah is more than willing to help you with PreTrip anytime that you need, and I especially appreciated how she divides it up, section by section, so that it doesn't feel like you're overwhelmed more than you need to be. Ms. Julie in the office is a kind-hearted woman, whom is very friendly, skilled, and squared away. Finally, Ms. Aunna, is one of the nicest people at the school. Being the campus director, it is clear that she only works with the best of instructors, and strives to be a leader in the community with the performance of the school. She will take time out of her day to help with absolutely anything you need, and has a very approachable personality. I especially appreciated her 'open-door policy', as it was always a pleasure to be afforded the opportunity to interact with her. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this school to anyone who wants to obtain their commercial license. They know exactly what they're doing, and will guide you every step of the way. They are both professional and personable. Go through them, you won't be disappointed. Then grab a gear and disappear. There were even some famous people in our class, which was surprising... Cheers.

Fantastic experience: I have been through the course twice in the last 3 years. The first time for a class B license. I then came back for an upgrade to a class A. The staff are incredible and helped out with learning my new skill set. I highly recommend taking classes through this program.

Positive experience: I enrolled to get my Class C CDL. My application was accepted and I signed a contract for Class C training. Halfway through the first week, staff pressured me to get my Class B license instead. They kept saying they don't do Class C anymore, not since 2019. If that is true, why did they take my money and application? After training in the giant school bus for two days, I was ready to quit altogether. But they made an "exception" for me (!) and I finished my training hours in an old (1997) short school bus to get my Class C with a passenger endorsement. I did attain my goal but it was stressful. The school is geared to people getting their Class A license, and judging by the other reviews, they do that well. But don't go here to get a Class C.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely recommend CDS! I came into the school with little knowledge of a tractor and no knowledge of a trailer, I left with the best experience and my CDL A license. The office peeps were welcoming and helpful throughout the whole process. They really take care of everything! All you have to do is focus and study! The instructors were easy going with a trucker attitude, but that’s something you’ll get used to. They made sure I was ready for my test. When I felt like back was my weakness, I asked and they gave me more time on it. I was able to get my old job back, but this time as a licensed hostler! And I love that I’m practicing even more! I’m excited to see where this journey continues on to!

Fantastic experience: Honestly I was super nervous about going to this course not knowing what to expect but the staff and everyone working with us was absolutely amazing and put me at ease. They gave me the tools for success in life. The biggest help wad my instructor Hez who made the entire course both fun and easy to understand but also wanted sure to correct any bad behavior and habits I had to make me the best driver I could be 10/10 would recommend anyone looking to get there CDL whether it's class A or B to go through the program here

Fantastic experience: 5 stars all the way. This is a great school full of great instructors. They are very friendly, welcoming and understanding. They will teach you and help you understand everything you need to know about driving and being safe in a big rig. When all that fun stuff is out of the way they will help you find the right job for you. I went from working back breaking construction to making over 100k a year driving for sysco thanks to them. If they could get 5 kabillion stars, I'd give it to em. (I am not a paid actor)

Fantastic experience: I took the forks class and it was super fun, made lots of good friends and learned lots and now I have a class A CDL so pretty cool

Positive experience: I found CDS Port Orchard to be a good school. I was given all the tools I needed to pass my permit tests and driving exam. All of the instructors seemed very knowledgeable. There were a few different trucks to learn on, all with a different feel to the transmission and throttle so you are pretty well prepared for whatever truck you test in. I appreciate that they won't send you to test if they don't think you're ready; they want you to pass just as much as you do. My only real criticism is that some of the in-cab pretrip verbage varried depending on which instructor you were doing it with, if it was exactly the same with everyone, 5 stars. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to get their CDL.

Fantastic experience: Good crew to teach you how to drive truck. I was a big fan of the pre trip coach, she will definitely drill you until you are ready to test for your license. Overall a good experience for such a hard field to get into.

Fantastic experience: If you are a Veteran, and haven’t used your GI Bill, you cannot afford to miss this opportunity. The support and flexibility of all of the staff ensures nothing but success. If you have any desire to get your Commercial Driver’s License, walk through the front door and see how every obstacle you thought you had can be moved out of the way to your new skill set. Real trucks, real training, and a top of the line simulator for safe scenario based training. This is a setup for sustained superior performance. Update: Support continues after you’re done with initial training. Job hunting, additional training, and guidance with how to maximize the time you spent training. When you’re done their not done backing you up.

Fantastic experience: Excellent school with great instructors. They are always willing to help and truly put in the time to make sure you can get your CDL quickly and easily while also teaching you life long commercial driving lessons. Will recommend to anyone wanting to go to a commercial driving school

Fantastic experience: Great school, very friendly staff. The driving instructors put in alot of time and work making sure you can pass your CDL test after the 4 weeks of school. Front office staff is on point and makes sure you have all of the documents needed.

Fantastic experience: I attended commercial driver school they were professional they knew what they were doing and they helped me out and went above and beyond. I passed my test all on the first attempt and when I felt like I was struggling in certain areas like backing certain instructors like Dave stepped up and Chris and Mike and Cass and reassured me and gave me the confidence I needed to pass my test. By far the number 1 driving school in Washington state. Money well spent!!
