Fantastic experience: I decided to attend hds for my CDL because everyone who more than willing to provide me with information always available to answer questions and give advice from the owner to the recruiters and instructors. All are very friendly and passionate about our success. My experience was great from beginning to end and with their help I received multiple employment offers as soon as I received my CDL. I recommend everyone who is interested in getting their CDL to tour the school ask many questions and have a clear realistic idea of what you want to achieve with your CDL and if you’re like me hds will be a great fit for you and give you honest answers to all your questions.

Positive experience: To sum it up, while being a bit disorganized, ALL of the staff was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. They went out of their way to help this Class B student get through it as smoothly as possible, from providing sleeping arrangements, to the testing and drug test. I trained on a Class A manual tractor and glad I did. Everything since then has been much easier, from the pre-trip, to the parking and backing, to the driving. They’d get a 5 Star if I hadn’t had to ask a lot of questions that should have been answered before Day 1. Totally recommended.

So we went through the arizona one stop program, and got our CDL's through HDS. We have been team driving since December of 2018. Thanks to HDS, and their professional staff, we have some amazing achievements under our belts now! At our company we have achieved: Youngest team of the month ever! First ever woman of the year professional driver! We have helped start accounts that have grown from 10 teams to over 250 team now! After 5.5 years out here on the road, we are closing in on 2 million miles together, and we have been to all 48 continental states! And the financial freedom we have has been mind blowing!! Fantastic experience: I attended this school from January ‘23 to March ‘23. I had a truly awesome experience! From the instructors on the yard to the admin in the building, I had nothing but full support. I received so much help learning everything I needed to to become a trucker. Anything and everything I wanted and needed to know, I was taught. They helped me grow more and be more confident in my skills. They helped me with job placement - graduated on a Friday and had a job by Monday. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to get into the transportation industry. Fantastic experience: HDS was true to their word. They told me that I could have my class B within 2 to 3 weeks and I was pinched for time instructors Cody and Matthew really went above and beyond to teach me the skills that I need it to be safe on the road and also give me the knowledge to pass the test. HDS has a really good employment placement department to ensure that you always have a job and again I just want to give a shout out and acknowledgment to Instructor , Cody and Matthew for the excellent work that they do and how personal they take their job To ensure that everybody has the skills to drive safely and not endanger anybody you can tell it was very personal for them to make sure that when a student leaves there they have the knowledge and the skills to be a good and safe Driver thank you HDS for enriching my life

Positive experience: I graduated here on the 160 hour program and got my cdl in about 6 weeks. Most of the instructors are helpful to those who ask for it and seek their help. Luisa and Dan are very good instructors and I heard only praises of them from other students while I was there. They do not baby you here or hold your hand through the process. Be ready to show initiative and willingness to learn otherwise failure is on you because they do set you up to succeed. The owner Doug Prall is a good man and even if you dont drive for DSW after you graduate they still help you out with anything you may need to find employment elsewhere and there are no hard feelings on their part. If you are thinking about going to HDS hurry up and start making that money. If you need help paying for school look into pima county onestop they paid for my full ride at HDS and they can pay for you too.

Cody is an amazing instructor who is tough but fair to his students and wants you to learn everything before your test comes due. The front office staff like Melissa are always ready to answer your questions. My only recommendation is the owner hire more instructors in evening classes and get more trucks to practice. Finally, I highly recommend considering this school if you wanna get your CDL Tucson area

Fantastic experience: This school was absolutely amazing!!! They make it easy for Veterans like myself to obtain a CDL. I could not be happier with the service that was provided. The training was awesome Cody is an amazing trainer and his video online is spot on for students to succeed. Anyone that talks bad about this school or the staff is upset ether cause they didn’t put in the self motivation to succeed or just cause they feel the position they are in is wrong which is on them. Fantastic experience: Summary: HDS is the best place in Tucson to get your CDL. They are the only trucking school that accepts the GI bill. The staff is incredible. Cody and Liga are the best instructors I ever had and I wouldn’t have a class A CDL without them. HDS accommodated to my schedule, gave me every resources to be successful, and set me up for a future behind the wheel. (Please read below for a more in depth review) I normally don’t write reviews but after completing HDS’s course to receive my class A CDL I felt compelled to share with you how truly great this place is. For starters they are the only trucking school that accepts the GI bill in Tucson but that is just the first thing that sets them apart from every other trucking school. There staff is incredible. From the moment I entered their doors I was treated with respect and was guided through every step to get my CDL. It truly felt like every staff member from the receptionist to the instructors wanted me to succeeded and helped me so much along the way. My instructors were among the top teachers I have ever had. Coming from absolutely no background in truck driving my instructors took the time to answer every one of my questions and helped me to gain enough competency to pass my CDL test and prepare me for a future on the road. A special thanks goes out to instructors Danny, Hector, Elevar, Liga, and Cody. Each one of these gentlemen took the time to guide me along my CDL journey and I can confidently say I would not have a class A CDL without each of them. Also, I would like to say if your lucky enough to take night classes at HDS, instructor Cody will be your lead instructor and you see this man does the work of three people and you’ll see the amount of dedication he has to training the next generation of truck drivers. Despite how many roles he juggles he always had time to answer any question I had and gave me every tip and technique to pass every portion of my CDL class A exam. He is one of a kind and I can’t be more grateful to be one of his students. HDS accommodated my schedule in every which way and made it easy for me to gain enough experience behind the wheel to feel confident in my CDL test. I couldn’t be more grateful for HDS in all that it has done. If you make the decision to attend HDS you will not be sorry and if you show up ready to learn there is no doubt that you will gain the knowledge and skills to obtain a class A drivers license.

Negative experience: I attended the classes on 02-2023. I received my CDL B with the endorsement's. I have emailed and called and texts numerous times (Over20) to get my certification completion certificate from them. I have been turned down by two people due to me not being able to show I attended a collegiate program. They want their money and everything up front BUT once your done they could care less about you. They want you to send in all this info after you get hired or what your doing for their Gov contracts But wont even take 5 minutes out of their time to send what is rightfully yours! I was asked upon completion by employer if I would recommend them for the next five (5) drivers that was sent to another school since then. I said HECK NO! I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Look around and don't buy a shiny shirt or big truck parked out front of the business.

Fantastic experience: I wish I got an HDS trucking hat. I highly recommend this place. This place is great Lori Valdez was my student advisor and she gave a warm welcome when I came there. She helped me when no one would....my "recruiters" from another place. Lori helped when I was about to just give it all up. When I had questions or concerns she always made herself available to answer and help me and she is a very busy person. I appreciate this place very much. The instructors Larry, Steven, Cody, Sam, and people in the office were all very helpful. I was a difficult student and everything was new. All these people helped me understand and I got me through the program. Therefore I would highly recommend this place and thank you HDS Truck Driving Institute for helping me become a Class A driver.

Right from the beginning of admissions to the parallel parking on your test. This place is where you want to go if you're interested or considering a career in trucking. Fantastic experience: I have passed today my test. Yeeaaah! I would like to mention few things about this school. The instructors are great and hardworking. Steven was guiding me through all my steps for my pretrip I highly appreciate him. He is a real professional and very detailed on his work. I would like to mention my other instructors. Monica, Chris, Hector, Sam they are great as well very friendly. Kodi was my examiner, he seems tough but he is fair. I can proudly say that I’m fully trained and ready to hit the road! Negative experience: I can't tell you how many bad things I've heard about this company and the racism at most. I know a few previous employees as well as many students who said the main focus is to get you through the system....get your money (or grant $) and get you out of the system ASAP without any interest in training you properly. They seem to think they're too smart and don't realize people see right through them and the manipulative passive aggressive tactics used against students and employees. I seriously worry about the Intellect and common education of senior staff here. There is nothing worse than a company who focuses more on getting your money than true intellectual training. ...from what I've heard from several people now (trucking industry) is that this place is a fraud. That is sad. I'll send my niece somewhere else. .... also it would be good to become educated on cultures and not just typical low education standards in America where many just assume anyone outside of Murricuu is less educated than when it's the other way around!! I'm a born American but don't think with that dramatic redneck mentality. This place needs serious help from what I've heard even in last 5 years .... I hear you get yelled at and called names as if leadership has mentality of a 13 year old. .... and If you're other than U.S. born or Caucasian....you'll be treated like a subordinate from leaders who gang up on you for power and manipulation. Uuggh. Sick sick Save yourself and go to maybe the other school like Southwest or do your research!

Fantastic experience: I got my CDL here in 4 weeks time. Overall a positive experience. The staff was great! Especially Dave, Tara and Hector. My only complaint would be it was a bit crowded on the yard skills at times. More time in the truck would have been better. Maybe the class sizes were too big. I would recommend HDS Trucking School.

Negative experience: I will do my best to remain as professional for this review. I recently graduated this last week. I will start off by saying that the instructors are great. The negative aspects of this review are not towards them. The instructors do the best with the situation the are dealt with higher and the students to get the students at ready for the test. Unfortunately it seems they don’t have a lot of support from above, which is why maybe three quite in the last week and a half while I was there. So again, this is not toward the instructors, more towards the school and program, or lack there of. Week 1 In class. It’s mandatory by DOT to complete the B2B training this week. There was no instruction, we were handed iPads, given a website and told to complete by the end of the week. That was all. Seems like a lot of money to pay a school to something that can be done literally anywhere, home, work, etc…Being a school house I recommend a program of intent or a curriculum since you charge so much for this, that is taught in a ordnance with B2B. Weeks 2-4 All range. You get basic instruction to pass the tests, backing skills and along with some driving on the road instruction. (To be fair they made it very clear from starting on the range is that they teach you to pass the test. Again the instructors were good. I’m fact I have nothing to complain about them. You can see the frustration in them as well as there is no formal curriculum to follow as it is all kind of taught in different ways. I am not sure what their certification process is for new instructors but I believe there should be a certification for that, obviously, so as every student is taught the same, no matter who is teaching. It’s also frustrating because the amount of money they make, close to 5000 a student, they have new classes every week, with day, night and weekend classes starting and just about 8 people, you estimate the math. We would get inside the truck for about 5-10 minutes, some longer, and then wait about 2 hours to get back in, unless you got to go driving. A lot of trucks are also broken down. Job placement program. I will honestly say this is the biggest lie this school feeds ( in my opinion). I talked to a certain individual twice about what I was looking for, but heard nothing. I only received recruiting efforts from DSW, which was honestly the opposite of what I was originally searching for. I decided to stay away from DSW as a recommendation of some of their own drivers, will not name their names. I am not sure if others had this experience so it’s hard to recommend a fix to that. I was always taught that if you have complaints or issues, you should have a solution which is why I discussed curriculum, and proper certification program. I do not have any truck driver experience or training yet, but I have a background on instructing and training programs in the military. I have ran a training, safety, certification and maintenance program for 54 howitzer crews and their equipment, and I only say that because I do understand that revamp I’m curriculum and a good certification program internally can fix a lot of the issues. I do not think this school should be allowed to use Veteran’s G.I. Bill, as it is not nearly to a standard of a real schoolhouse. I would recommend for now that if anyone is wanting to use their G.I. Bill, to not waste it here. I am no one special, and I did achieve receiving my CDL through this school, which was the desired result of course, and these word are my opinion based on my view.

Negative experience: Worst CDL School Ever!! They tell you everything you want to hear in order to get your money. I went for 3 days did absolutely nothing during my time at HDS. All the instructors don’t teach you anything they just stand around tell you how it’s your job to figure it out. It’s a lot of sitting around and waiting for your turn. I was there for 10 hours each day and drove a truck for 10 mins at most. Most of your time will be spent standing around. It’s was 40 plus people waiting in line for 2 trucks. I ended up leaving after only being there for 3 days. I paid half the tuition $1500 and I should have been due most of my money back since I left so soon after I started. It took months to come and when the money came it I received a $700 refund. HDS stole half money. How do you charge $800 for me to stand around do absolutely nothing for 3 days.Please do not go to this scamming driving school. HDS TRUCK DRIVING INSTITUTE sucks.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful Place to get training and the people there are helpful and awesome!

Positive experience: A lot of sitting around for your turn. Instructors are good but they count the hours you are present not driving so if you are taking the short program you will not get all of the hours you may need because of having to wait on a truck. The longer program gives too many hours and you will probably not need all of them before you are ready to test.

Negative experience: Sent a potential driver to this school to get his CDL to drive for my company. He later told me that they gave him a sales push to work for Swift and tried to steer him away from my company offering the perks and income he could make driving for Swift. Employers beware sending your students here.

You’ll be expected to buckle up your big boy pants and take the initiative to learn, but there are people there for you. Got my CDL fairly easy and I have numerous job offers.

Fantastic experience: I want to review how flexible and accommodating HDS Truck Driving School is. The instructors I worked closely with were Luisa, Dave, and Dan. I learned how to do my yards skills perfectly from Luisa. Thank you Luisa! She is awesome. Just listen to her and do what she says and you will have perfect yard skills too. Dave thought me how to shift, manage my nerves and become comfortable with the actions to smooth out my drive. Thank Dave for your encouragement and patience! Dan is a wealth of knowledge. He is direct and fair and will teach you all the little things that make a big difference. Thank you too Dan. All the instructors are awesome you can't go wrong. Just remember to be your own biggest fan and don't get discouraged.

Fantastic experience: I took the 160 hours class in the evenings. Because I had a full time job, it took six weeks to complete. I had issues with parallel parking, but Luisa showed me how to do it. Dave and Jerry are good instructors on the road. I did the classroom portion at home on Zoom which was great since I worked. I passed the permit test and road test on my first try. Definitely recommend. I've been driving OTR for three weeks now.

Fantastic experience: This school is GREAT! I just completed the 160 hour day classes and from day 1 it has been a great experience. I first dealt with the wonderful staff in Admissions. Tara, Tyana, and Jessica continuously went above and beyond to assist me and help. These ladies are a pillar to HDS. THANK YOU! Ben is very active trying to get the students employed and kept going the extra mile to help. Thank you for the job leads. Once I got to the practice driving range I encountered and experienced genuinely caring and helpful staff of instructors. Tim was always very positive, understanding, and helpful. He has set a tone ans standard for the staff to be head and shoulders above any other trucking school. Bill is a very helpful trainer that shows daily that he cares about his job and the student's success. I don't know how many times he came and would give me great tips and instructions. I'm very thankful he was there. Stephen always kept the students focused and would motivate everyone everyday. He is a true asset to the training program. Thank you Stephen you are a wonderful trainer. Sam was the first person that taught me how to double clutch and drive. He has a heart of gold, extremely brave, and really cares about the students. I am very thankful that Sam was there. He taught me a lot. Thank you, thank you, thank you. LAST BUT NOT LEAST is Nelson. Nelson took a lot of his time to teach me how to drive and maneuver these big rigs. I am very thankful for all of the trainers but Nelson spent a lot of time teaching me. He is patient, helpful, caring, and very good at teaching. Nelson you changed my life. HDS IS A GREAT SCHOOL! IF YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE A TRUCK AND OBTAIN A CDL GO TO HDS!

Negative experience: I had an issue with Mn that I didn't know about. Some one had stolen my identity. I went to my classes and scored very well but when I went for my permit I was told I had some issue in Mn. I've never been there. Rather than cheak it out, the director of the school blamed me, saying, we have to check these people out better. I got no help het from her, only blame.

Fantastic experience: This school was awesome !! TARA and her fellow staff are incredible. Tara was really able to help me thru the whole process. Even finding financial aid when I thought it wasn't possible. AND IS GREAT AT COMMUNICATIONS 5 STARS. Great teachers. Tony (the new guy) was amazing. He Is super knowledgeable and really gives you the real deal information on how it really is on the road. Luisa, Tim, Liga, were all 5 stars in my book. Jerry is the man, he helped me understand gears and understand how to really drive a semi. This school was a great great experience. Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had such an amazing experience. Since day 1, the staff there made me feel right at home. They were genuine! I was there to get my CDL Class B license. Keep in mind this was all brand new to me. The program they have in place worked perfectly for me. Don’t hesitate about enrolling here. I promise you will not be disappointed. Negative experience: I had a lousy experience with them when I attended, the in class training was ok as well as the yard skills training, but when the time came to go out with the driver trainers, that's when my nightmares started, they were extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and nasty habits they exhibited around me as a women, extremely disrespectfull, that's all I'd better say. Just a bad experience I'll never forget.

Fantastic experience: I attended the four week CDL program here recently (1/4-1/28) and I can't tell you how great this program is. If you're looking to get your CDL show up everyday on time and you will get your monies worth. Tom, Sam, Bob and Tim all helped me and I am forever grateful for their help. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart you guys are the reason I enjoyed showing up for class and it was a pleasure to have met you all. These gentlemen take the time to help you hone in your skills to not only get your CDL, but they all share real life situations so you are aware of the dangers as well as the great career you are about to embark. I had the pleasure of meeting Doug (Owner) who gave us insight on not only the program but what to expect after you graduate. Not often do you attend a program where you meet the owner so that was honestly a great opportunity to speak with him. Tara and all the ladies in the front were amazing and very friendly. Taylor was very understanding and everyone there was very professional and respectful. Thank you to everyone here at HDS Truck Driving Institute. You all treated me well. Forever thankful I took this opportunity to attend and will never regret coming here.
