A Affordable Driving School

Negative experience: Avoid this company and save yourself a lot of frustration. They took my money ($450- which is higher than most driving schools in the area), promised to send me the electronic contract for signature along with my teens class start date on Monday. We’ll none of that happened - EXCEPT the $450 charge. I’ve called almost everyday for a week to resolve or be refunded neither has occurred.

Negative experience: The office manager was insanely rude and hung up on me when I requested a refund after they were unable to help me. Wouldn’t recommend at all

Fantastic experience: Ms. Vickye Parker was the absolute BEST driver improvement teacher ! I will forever recommend her to everyone looking to take a class . She was so sweet and personable and made everyone feel so welcome and included . I’m praying for you Ms. Vickye !!!

Fantastic experience: Had my last lesson today and had an amazing time! I was pretty nervous being behind the wheel since I had driven before, but wasn't comfortable taking the test yet and wasn't sure what I could work on and improve. BJ was super friendly, and made me feel really confident and prepared! He was awesome at explaining things in a way that made sense and I would definitely recommend him as an instructor and the driving school as a whole for anyone trying to get their license!

Fantastic experience: Having completed my last lesson today, I just wanted to say how much Affordable Driving School's BJ really helped refine my driving skills to a more comfortable level. He has exactly the qualities you would hope for in an instructor teaching driving: friendly, patient, item-focused, with pleasant conversation and useful tips during all rides. All these served to make me, the student, feel at ease all while tackling specific areas of concern. Largest takeaway for me was the parking! Huge improvement. Thanks, BJ!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience at this place I had an amazing teacher Bj who was very encouraging and helpful along the whole way he was very nice and held great convo and told funny stories. All around great experience and very thankful for bj being so nice and caring.

Positive experience: Everything was great until my son had to go to take his in-person test. The place wreaked of cigarette smoke and the whole time he was taking the test a man working there was talking very loudly. He was using profanity on the phone and had complete disregard for my son's needs. The online course is good as is the customer service over the phone. The ladies there were very helpful. We did not use them for behind the wheel.

Fantastic experience: This driving school is really good! Affordable and professionally run, the employees there work with you to make sure you get the instruction and information you need! Thasia and Shay were especially courteous and helpful!

Fantastic experience: In my 7 day experience with this driving school, I had the pleasure of driving and riding with Bj. He’s an amazing conversationalist and creates a comfortable environment that’s ensure to rid the nerves. He is very passionate about his students and gets straight to the learning. I totally recommend !

Fantastic experience: This is a grate company to go through for training and/or schooling. But the parts that make it a great experience and comfortable driving lessons is three great reasons. 1. They have a friendly dog to greet you. 2. Their representatives/secretaries are knowledgeable on their jobs and do it well too. As well as understanding and communicated well with you on scheduling. Plus they have hidden jems on their pricing on some days. 3. They have a great instructor who goes by the name of B.J who is a amazing teacher, and will help to explain your weakness on your driving an how to correct what is going on with your actions. Even if you are nervous and shaky he will pick up on your body language and to get you comfortable behind the wheel to the point where you can start driving better away from your bad habits. Plus he's great company he a people person. In short -Dog good. -reps/secretaries great. -B.J is the one you want to be your instructor. He makes it work.

Fantastic experience: I would like to say thank you to Thasia, who is an office manager, for her attitude and patience to explain me everything in regards to be able to obtain my driving license as a foreigner living here. I also could not imagine having better instructor than Shari. She is an amazing, friendly and knowledgeable instructor. I enjoyed driving with her, but I have learned a lot as well. She knows perfectly the roads, so she gave me so many advises. Every driving class was not boring at all. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: The sign up process was quick and easy and all the staff have a very customer first attitude. The star of the show for me was my driving instructor, BJ. BJ is not only patient and hilarious, but he has a demeanor that allows you to feel at ease behind the wheel in a way I didn't expect. He wants you to feel confident and understand all aspects of driving while delivering clear in the moment feedback to make you aware of your strengths and weakness behind behind wheel. His instruction creates a skill base in defensive driving and an alertness that you won't find in many classes. So happy with my experience at this school!

Fantastic experience: The driver instructors at this school are absolutely amazing. Behind the Wheel with Mr. Beard went so smooth. Being that I had little driving experience, he still managed to teach me how to drive and I end up passing the test in order to get my license. Everything about this experience was very professional, organized and I’m just so thankful I had the opportunity to go to this driving school. Also the great thing is that they do free pick ups and drop offs.

Fantastic experience: I came in with extremely little driving experience to do the 90 day waiver program. Mr.Beard went out of his way to start my off from the basics and help me learn to control a car. Fantastic experience: Mr. G was a wonderful instructor! Actually, he was the best. He made the class fun while being informative. I would definitely take this class again, but hopefully it doesn't come down to that. I learned a lot of new things from this class and I will use my knowledge with everyday life.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough great things about Affordable Driving School. My son really excelled in the 10 hour driving program. His instructor, Jeff Beard is phenomenal. He is highly skilled, patient and was great with my son, He explained the process of the class and what to do after to my son and me. I want my son, Jonah to have him for behind the wheel. I feel confident he will become a great driver under the direction of Jeff!

I found his class to be informative and fun; and I learned some things that had changed since I first started driving (a long time ago!). Fantastic experience: I have been to other driving schools for drivers ed etc., but this driving school far surpasses all others that I know of. Much cheaper than most other driving schools, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that it is not as good as the others, it is better! I found Greg to be a great teacher! He was teaching what could easily have been boring, uninteresting material, but he taught it in such a way that any one there who had any desire to learn could stay focused and learn a lot. He was not trying to keep the answers from us, but wanted us to know the answers. I greatly enjoyed being there! And learned enough that I am considering going back and taking the class again! Thank you all so much!

Negative experience: While the instructor I was with (Greg) was a very friendly guy, lighthearted, and showed that he respected our time, I was put off by the unprofessionalism. I don't expect a DMV driving school to be "hyper-professional" in any way, but the instructor made some off-handed comments that significantly reduced my respect in him as well as affected my overall view of the business. Arguably sexist remarks and actions (comparing a wife to an airbag, using "hot babes in a wet-shirt contest" as an example for one of his illustrations, mischievously gazing at a female customer's rear-end as she walked out) were not only unnecessary, but unacceptable. As a business owner myself, I would not recommend this business simply due to this reason alone. There are other issues that I experienced with this business in particular, but all were forgivable. However, the unprofessionalism of the environment was enough for me to write a poor review, despite my discomfort with writing such reviews. I appreciated the breaks, finishing in a timely fashion, answering questions, and even the use of humor to enliven the class. It was definitely fun and interesting for an 8 hour course. However, such humor should NEVER dip into the realm of blatant immaturity, primarily considering sexual matters.

Fantastic experience: This was one of the best class I took thus far the instructor (Greg) was very knowledgeable. I thought it was going to be boring but he made it fun and straight to the point. I recommend this class to anyone who has to take a AAA driver improvement class. It’s cheap fun and has the best instructor (Greg) in vb. You won’t be disappointed I promise. I get bored easy but Greg kept it interesting the whole time. Fantastic experience: on my first day I met sherry my instructor very nice person I have never ever driven this was my actual first time and the one thing she told me is by then end of the first session I will be driving home. and yes I did I could not believe the confidence I had for myself honestly this program is the best they are patient and wonderful I highly recommend them and yes I got my drivers license

The instructor made this class fun but also taught the class very important things that you will need to know on the test as well as on the road! Fantastic experience: So I’m literally 18 and don’t have my permit or license at all. I signed up for this class to refresh my memory on all of the stuff the horrid permit test covers, however I didn’t really know what I was expecting. My instructor was Greg, and lemme tell you— this man is great. Very funny and has a good heart. He feels for everyone in the class on why they’re in the seat they’re sitting in. He went over EVERYTHING and answered EVERY question I might’ve had throughout the entire session. Just in case someone is in the same position as me— I’ve only taken the permit test twice, and failed both times. Just in case I fail a third time, the certificate that I received will cover me if I do. I had a great time!! Thanks Greg (:

Fantastic experience: They made my Daughters experience easy and she was able to pass her test with the information she received. We will be going back for the on the road portion.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test! This class was absolutely fantastic. My Instructor, David, really thorough with his teaching and adjusted the class to what would be best for me. He helped adjust the things that I needed work with and made note of good driving as well. He held good and friendly conversation for the full 2 hrs as well. He also helped me study for the test by going over what would be on it and even grading me at the end of the class The times and scheduling were adjusted to best fit me and my learning experience. I reccomend this class to anyone who just needs some professional help or some practice for the test.

Fantastic experience: Al is a great instructor! He retired from the Norfolk Police Department and knows all the rules of the road. In addition, he taught me a lot of good tips, especially for driving in bad weather and how to be courteous to other drivers (even if they’re not being very nice behind the wheel themselves). Also, the school lets you use their car for DMV’s road test. You have to call first. Be polite on the phone and you could get a discount (I did). In conclusion, highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: This place was a Godsend! David, my daughters instructor, effectively taught my daughter how to drive and the importance of paying attention to her environment. Before taking lessons she was lacking confidence and David helped her gain the confidence she needed to not only pass her exam but also to feel at ease behind the wheel. Negative experience: Well back in 2014 I got into my first accident while driving. So I got told to take an driving improvement class before going to court because it makes you look better. So I did and chose this one. Well my permit cause suspended because DMV never received my certificate of completion. So when I went back up there they did have my certificate on file and it was only 2 or 3 years later that I needed it cause I was trying to get another permit. Well they loose your stuff and are liars. So luckly the lady took the paper that said I paid for the class and took it.
