Safe by Choice Driving Academy

Negative experience: Safe by Choice could not accommodate my son with the required driving hours needed. So, we requested a refund so he could go somewhere else, this was 2 weeks ago. I am currently still waiting for the refund. I have called 4 times about the refund and keep being told different reasons as to why I haven't received the money. This driving school is highly unprofessional. I do not recommend.

Negative experience: The customer service was horrible. Scheduling is hassle for literally nothing. As i’m reading the reviews again, I’m literally seeing the instructors themselves give this place 5 stars and write good reviews, knowing they aren’t even the ones who experience the lack of professionalism, but definitely play a part in it… save your time and money, because I can assure you, they won’t give you neither back.

Negative experience: not sure if they are faking the reviews… but this place is HIGHLY unprofessional. they rescheduled my child’s appointment just for them not to have any availability until the following month. I spoke to the “manager” regarding a refund because this was not their first time rescheduling, she cussed me out over the phone and specifically stated “that’s why your child doesn’t have his license now” all because THEY messed up their books. when I switched over to “Best Driving Academy” (10/10) One of the instructors informed me that this place is KNOWN for scamming and people who typically sign up with them at first, usually tend to switch over to their driving schools in the area. Will never recommend this place to anyone. extremely unprofessional, wish I could give 0 stars.

Negative experience: This place has the ABSOLUTE WORDT customer service. The lady who claims they are the owner is very disrespectful and cuts you off while speaking mid sentence. She told me that I lied about their POOR behind the wheel schedules. They told me August 28th ide be able to schedule my appointment. As you can see in the screenshot I took there was no availability released as they stated it would be. You can only schedule your behind the wheel driving once every month which means after the entire 2 WEEKS it takes to complete the test and such forth it will take an additional 3 WHOLE MONTHS just to complete all the behind the wheels before you can even get a appointment for a license. As you continue through the pictures it states cancellation fees are 60 dollars however she stated over the phone their price increased with no warning what so ever and attempted to charge me 15 extra dollars from the original price their website currently states. This experience with them has been a complete nightmare!!! Please save yourself the headache and pay the extra money to go elsewhere otherwise you will deal with lies, disrespect, and headache.

Negative experience: Horrible! If I could give this a negative star rating it would be well deserved. Owner who rudely stated she doesn’t have to tell her name was unprofessional and incompetent. This business is amateur at best. They do not communicate with students, attempt to overcharge frivolously, make you wait months to get on the road training, and are not available during traditional business hours. It’s a glorified side hustle that someone figured out how to get approved by the state.

Negative experience: Its absolutely ridiculous how i have to wait a month to schedule just one BTW session

Negative experience: Worst customer service. They never have appointments for the driving car session. They always say they have to put you on a waiting list of a month wait. The online scheduling does not work.

Negative experience: To schedule the BTW lessons are terrible. They tell you to schedule the appointments at the end of the month to get on the schedule for next month. No dates available. The online scheduling doesn't work. It's taken my son over two months to get his three BTW lesson. It takes too long to get these lessons. I think they need more instructors.

Negative experience: one of the worse driving schools. they lie about in car sessions being unavailable but in reality they are.

Fantastic experience: Safe by Choice Driving Academy is an excellent driving school. Their instructors are very knowledgeable about the MVA licensing process and provide exceptional driving lessons in preparation for the actual driving test. Mr. Roy was a wonderful instructor and employed patience with my student who has a learning difference. He was able to deliver the driving lessons in a relatable way so that the student could understand. Due to Mr. Roy's impeccable patience and teaching skills, our student passed the driving test on the first try.

Positive experience: I enjoyed my time with the Safe by Choice Driving Academy staff. Even with my weird work and school schedule, I still learned alot during my online classes. Thanks to my driving lessons with Mr. Watson and Mr. Magruder, I was perfectly prepared and ace my road test at the MVA. Now I'm ready to be a responsible and safe driver.

She really helped me learn the ways of driving and if it wasn’t for her I doubt I would’ve passed my drivers test first try! I owe everything to her and if you can try to get her as your driving instructor.

Negative experience: Way too difficult and time-consuming to schedule behind-the-wheel (BTW) sessions—although the instructors for such are very nice. If you are or have a teen trying to obtain a license over the summer, you may as well forget this particular school and opt for another for the sole fact of how inconvenient and untimely the BTW portion of the class is. Also, the female worker who answers phone calls is quite snappy and brusque.

Fantastic experience: Thank You Ms Carla! She is the best instructor I have had. I have been to several driving schools and couldn’t complete them due to personal reasons and severe anxiety, where i was having panic attacks, couldn’t even get in the car without freaking out. I have finally finished driving school and PASSED MY DRIVING TEST THE FIRST TRY! If i can do it, anyone can! Ms Carla is very patient and understanding, when dealing with anxious drivers. Book your classes now!!

Negative experience: I’m sorry I can’t believe this school received so many 5 stars. This place is unorganized. It hard to make appointments for your behind the wheel hours. This place is unprofessional!!!! We paid too much money for mediocre customer service.

In fact, they were so efficient in teaching me that they gave me additional behind-the-wheel training during class hours. Thank you especially for the extra effort.

Positive experience: Pro’s : They were able to schedule my private driving lessons on the weekends. I also was able to have Ms. Jennie as my instructor. Ms. Jennie was very patient, kind and honest. She was very encouraging during my sessions. I really appreciate her showing up on time as well. CON’s: My first driving lesson was horrible, I was schedule on 4/9/23. My driver instructor was Ms. Carla, She arrived at my lesson late complaining about her schedule for that day. I explained to Ms. Carla what I needed to work on and where I went to driving school. During my lesson Ms. Carla was very rude she threw everything I told her about my driving in my face. She stated that I needed to go back to driving school & that I was going to fail my driving test. ( which I did NOT) She also fell asleep during my lesson stating “even though my eyes are closed I can still see you.” (While I was driving) She became very impatient at the end of the driving lesson because I was turning slow she snatched the wheel. She yelled which at other drivers during the lesson.

Negative experience: Disappointed to say the least. The teachers were very nice but scheduling behind the wheel is very difficult. The secretary was very rude left me with words in my mouth and ignored me. It’s frustrating as I have called various times and was never returned the call.

Fantastic experience: This driving school is amazing and I will definitely be recommending to others! Ms. Dyer really took the time to make sure I knew how to pass my test. Everyone here was very helpful, patient, and you could tell they actually care.

Fantastic experience: Ms. Carla and Ms. Jennie are two of the BEST instructors!! Ms. Carla exudes patience, connected well with my son, and has superb teaching skills. Ms. Jennie has exceptional instructional delivery, provided that personal touch, and helped to build my son's confidence with driving on day one. My son passed his driver's test on his first attempt!! Thank you both for your commitment and dedication to teaching our youth how to drive safely and responsibly in this fast-paced DMV area.

Positive experience: Hard to schedule appointments, run out if you don't schedule first day of month. Kids need between 35-40 hours driving with parents before allowed to have a second driving lesson with class. I'm the father of a driver who only has one driving lesson. So dissatisfied in the school. Parents people are nice at the school but you will get frustrated takes forever, Couldn't get driving lessons. Edited review - trick here is to call and make driving lesson appointments because the online appointments is what made me give them 1 star, hard to do. Couldn't make the online work.

Fantastic experience: Ms. Carla has been a God send. My daughter passed her driving test on the first try. My daughter was able to reverse park during the test in under 40 seconds. Thank you so much for everything Ms. Carla!!!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test today thanks to SBC! Ms. Jennie was my teacher for the online course and I worked with Ms. Carla and Mr. David for the behind-the-wheel sessions. Ms. Jennie was very kind; you can tell she wants everyone to succeed and be safe on the road. She shared a lot of good tips and information with us during the class. Ms. Carla knows her stuff! If you work with her and follow her instructions, you will be 100% ready for the test. Mr. David was *awesome* to work with! He makes sure you're comfortable with driving by cracking jokes and telling stories during the drive, but will also provide guidance when needed. I struggled with reverse parking and he was super, super patient and helpful in showing me how to improve.

Fantastic experience: I can say that my driving experience was a lot less nerve wrecking thanks to the instructors at this school. I was able to learn things real quick and easy, such as learning how to reverse park from Ms. Carla there! Those also made me feel comfortable with how casual and cool they all were. I'm very satisfied with how my driving there went and I really recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Contacted Safe by Choice Driving Academy for 6 hours of private driving lessons for my daughter and to rent a car for her MVA driving test. My daughter was assigned two of the best driving instructors she could have asked for Mr. David Magruder and Ms. Jennie Booker. They were very patient and made my daughter feel comfortable behind the wheel. Provided very helpful tips. Initially the school cancelled the rental for her driving test because the school experienced thefts but Ms. Booker came with the school’s remaining car so my daughter could take her driving test which she passed. Good thing because her learner’s would have expired in a couple of weeks. Despite all the obstacles, theft, heavy slow moving traffic the day of the test, God made everything work out for our good.

Fantastic experience: All of my instructors were wonderful and very helpful. But if you need someone to not waste your time, and give you tips on things that need to be worked on, go to Ms. Carla. She knows exactly what she is doing and what to teach you for you to understand things a little better.

Fantastic experience: I contacted Safe By Choice when my child needed additional behind the wheel lessons before the skills test (I am not the parent that can teach their children how to drive - way too stressful :-). Even though we did not take the drivers education course at this school, Ms. Sharita went above and beyond to schedule 4 lessons for us. Ms. Sharita is a pleasant and patient instructor and was able to identify what my child needed (particularly parking skills). Two days after the last lesson, my child passed the skills test confidently! Thank you Ms. Sharita!! I highly recommend Safe by Choice Driving Academy.

Fantastic experience: I did virtual learning with this school and I can ensure you they do a great job teaching the ins and out of driving. I never been confident about my driving until I attended this school, so glad I did because the driving instructors were very nice and welcoming. I passed my test on the first try thanks to them I’ll definitely be suggesting this driving school to everyone I know lol.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test today because of this driving school! Ms. Carla taught me everything I needed to know. The day of my test one of the instructors let me practice about 30 minutes before my test. Every instructor makes sure you understand the rules on the road. Great school!

Fantastic experience: The school was very informative and helpful with road rules and safety but I would recommend this school mainly because of a specific driver instructor named Ms.Carla. Every session I had with her she reconstructed the actual driving test and let me practice doing that so I know EXACTLY what I would be expecting taking my actual test. She even let me use her own personal vehicle to take my test today which I passed! So thank you Safe by choice for the all the information you have given but a special thank you to Ms.Carla for a actually looking out and helping me through this journey.

Fantastic experience: BIGG SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO MS.LISA !!!! thanks to her and her bribing me with sour patch kids my fav I passed my test at first I never turn on my signal and my last day with her we had a deal if I forgot to turn on my signal I have give her some of my candy out of a big bag of sour patch kids at the end of my session i had a little bit of candy left and she was enjoying every second of it but I know it was to help me and it did cause I passed my test !!!! in the matter of 2 days i learned how back in Her teaching skills and tips are wonderful and very helpful and she connects with her students very good to make u feel comfortable !!! I highly recommend this school and highly highly recommend the awesome MS.LISA
