Negative experience: School forgot they had made my test appointment. Lucky for me there was another student that was going to do the test a few hours later so I could use the same car. Issue is, I paid for the practical classes, they said they would return the money verbally and by email, but never did. So in the end I did pass, but they KEPT my 80 dolars...

Fantastic experience: I had previous driving experience in another country but I hadn't driven in a while and wanted to get a license in the US. I had trouble finding a good instructor. Everlina was the second instructor I had in NYC and I stuck with her as she is calm, patient, positive and with a sense of humor. We had a driving lesson every day until my exam. She found me a road test slot for the same week and with her help I got from a rusty driver to passing my exam in 4 days! I already recommended Everlina to a friend and will tell any friend who is about to embark on their driving journey to sign up with her.

Fantastic experience: Fern was so incredibly helpful at every step along the way while I was preparing to get my license. She patiently handled things every time I needed to reschedule a lesson due to my complicated schedule, started calls with a super sweet “how are you honey?”, and on the day of my driving test woke up at an ungodly hour (I think it was 4:30am) so that she could get my paperwork from the office before we headed up to the test site. She was absolutely fantastic. My primary instructor Tyrone was amazing too!! I remember one evening shortly after I got my license when I had to parallel park the car with my whole family in it when we went out to dinner; they were so impressed with my technique, and I credit it all with Tyrone’s parallel parking method. Highly recommend this service!

Fantastic experience: Everlina is the best driving instructor out there! She is a great teacher, clear, calm, patient, positive, and firm in her belief in her students. I was extremely nervous to drive, had never been behind a wheel, and by the end of the first lesson I felt far calmer than I could have expected. After 10 lessons, I passed my road test on the first try. I could not recommend her more!! Being in the car with her is such a supportive environment. She cares about all of her students deeply and wants them to succeed. We did deep breathing after every lesson, reviewed what had gone well and what I needed to work on, and every time before I left the car she would reassure me that I was going to be just fine. If you have any anxiety or fear around driving, or have had any negative experiences in the past, Everlina is absolutely the teacher for you!!! :)

Fantastic experience: I was so lucky to have Everlina as my instructor. I had a little experience driving in college but kept pushing off getting classes and taking my drivers test for many years, Everlina and I had a total of eight classes and every single class I felt more and more confident about my skill set and my ability to pass the road test. Everlina is patient empathetic, kind and will truly talk you through learning all the skills you need to learn to pass the road test. I was so anxious going into this experience and assumed I would fail. On the day of our test we had our instructor Ralph who came on time (actually earlier) to pick us up and guide us before our test. Fantastic experience: Words can't describe how amazing and truly life-changing of an instructor Everlina is. I rarely write reviews, but this one deserves to be seen by at least one other anxious and hesitant prospective driving student like me: My journey began 8 years ago in California when I was a scared teenager unable to feel safe let alone confident at driving. I had managed to fail my road test four times within two years. Each time I failed I felt that I was fulfilling a terrible prophecy that I would never learn how to drive. I felt not only immense shame for failing so many times, but utter dread whenever I thought about driving (and the thought of taking a road test would cause my heart to palpitate, palms to sweat, breath to fall short). I later learned that I was experiencing anxiety attacks and some sort of trauma response to driving. This wasn't just a physical problem in which I was unable to maneuver a vehicle, but a mental barrier that I couldn't overcome alone. Then I met Everlina, and she absolutely proved me wrong. She taught me I could not only pass my road test but only miss 5 points!!! Right after my test I burst into tears from overwhelming relief. Everlina's support was beyond what I could have imagined. She always said to give myself grace, and by the end of my lessons it was no surprise that her tireless patience, deep empathy, and love for her students pays off. Everlina shows up everyday with a big smile and unapologetic bright energy, ready to nurture your growth all the while keeping everyone safe (you, herself, pedestrians, bikers, the list goes on) on the streets of NYC. Fantastic experience: I couldn’t praise and recommend Empire State Driving School, and especially my amazing instructor, Everlina, highly enough, for aspiring drivers of any age, gender, or driving experience level. I booked a trial lesson with Everlina, and It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. She is an immensely experienced driver with an incredible talent to teach students patiently and effectively, all while keeping both student and instructor in a calm and relaxed state of mind. As a parent, I was concerned about my son and his ASD issues, particularly using all parts of the senses, and body, brain, and critical thinking functions. Fantastic experience: I am writing on behalf of my son, who has been taking driving lessons with Everlina from Empire State Driving School. Everlina is very devoted and passionate about her students and is committed to helping them achieve their goals. Over the process of our son's lessons, we have found Everlina is encouraging and has gone out of her way to work with our son. When he passed his driving test on the first try, we were pleasantly surprised because he had little or no experience behind the wheel. Fantastic experience: I wish there were more stars…I would fill an entire page. Everlina is a miracle. I pulled my kid kicking and screaming, anxious and unsure to Empire and asked for a female instructor. That was one of the luckiest days of my life. Everlina took my child, who was adamant they could never learn to drive and was MISERABLE behind the wheel, and turned her into a confident, safe and happy driver. Everlina provides a safe space, is fabulous at what she does and is stern but always kind. She drives home (ha!) the responsibility, focus and care needed to get behind the wheel and enter the fray as a competent trusted driver. Fantastic experience: Before my first lesson, I had never been behind the wheel, but after 8 weeks I passed my road test! Everlina has huge amounts of patience and knowledge and makes you feel very safe in the car. As an anxious driver, she was able to help me feel more and more confident behind the wheel. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is worried to start driving.

Fantastic experience: They are fantastic. Super efficient school with friendly staff and great instructors. I was able to get my license in less than a month. My instructor Ralph knew what he was doing: he was patient and taught me lots of useful driving tricks. I felt that he prepared me very well for the road in just 15 hours! Ralph also picked me up and dropped me off at my apartment for our lessons (not every school does this, so this is a great and unusual perk). All in all this was a convenient and no sweat way of getting my license. I couldn’t recommend them more - especially Ralph who’s great!

Fantastic experience: Just passed my road test with Everlina!! I've lived my whole life as a 'passenger princess,' having had no prior driving experience and, to be honest, feeling very nervous about driving. But Everlina was incredibly patient, gentle, and positive. She explained every step necessary not only for the road test but also for the actual driving skills you need. She is a great instructor, and I believe she can help people who, like me, are afraid of driving to become more confident and positive about their driving experience.

Fantastic experience: I am so glad I picked Empire! I just passed my road test thanks to my driving instructor Everlina. From the time I contacted Empire, to when Everlina shared the news that I’d passed on the first try - only three weeks had passed! Incredible! I was graciously first introduced to Fern who also works at Empire. She got back to me with information/pricing/next steps right away. Fern later taught my virtual pre-licensing course and was awesome. I signed up for 10 hours of lessons and was assigned to my driving instructor, Everlina. Because of my full-time job, she was able to accommodate starting our 2 hour lessons at 6 or 7am. Which was absolutely amazing. Depending on your comfort level, and attention span, she will also recommend an hour lesson if that is most suitable for you. Truly she 100% works with you to make YOUR story a successful one. She told me many, many times during our time together “everyone’s path is different”. This made me feel really confident going into my test. I truly felt that it’s OKAY to just take one day at a time, and not be too hard on myself, that being safe is what matters most, and not rushing. And trust me, that’s not my normal type A personality ;). Everlina is a magical fairy! I was so calm and collected and open to “whatever will be will be” on my road test day that I passed with flying colors! That was all thanks to Everlina! She is also a tough cookie and if I didn’t know any better, I would say she has 17 pairs of eyes and 6 sets of legs. Her attention to detail in the passenger seat will teaching is astounding. Even though NYC drivers have a colorful interpretation of the rules, she is passionate about teaching you how to truly drive safely, correctly and to pass your test. I’m so greatful for this experience and really proud of how much I learned with Everlina by my side. I’ll never forget my amazing driving teacher. Thank you so much!

You’ll pass your driving test with flying colors and also learn lessons for when you are actually on the road! He was simply amazing!! You’ll gain confidence when driving and be ready for city and/or highway. The only reason why it’s 4 starts it’s because scheduling your lessons with the main office can be a bit challenging. I recommend scheduling your lessons all in advance! Great school highly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: I was very nervous to start learning to drive in NYC. Without Everlina, I wouldn't have felt confident enough to practice or pass my driving test. She is the perfect driving instructor. Not only is she calm and knowledgable on the road, but she is also sassy, full of life and a great human being. Fantastic experience: Teh, Manhattan NY The Empire State Driving School was excellent. The staff were so friendly and fast in responding to providing precise information to the customer. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Everlina who was so patient and nice to talk to. I was nervous before the test, and she calmed me down by giving me the courage that I CAN MAKE IT. Even though I made a mistake, she would not yell at me which would make me feel a lot better. Instead, she would repeatedly talk to me nicely and patiently. I took two classes with Everlina, and I passed my test on the 1st test. I strongly suggest the newcomer to have her guidance before the test. Once again, thanks to Everlina.

Without driving experience as a 17 yr old, she got me my license on my first attempt. Couldn't have asked for a better experience learning to drive around the city.

Fantastic experience: Everlina is a highly knowledgeable and very experienced driving instructor at Empire. Whatever she makes, she is underpaid. Everlina is also a lovely and kind person. She makes the lessons fun and is very good and clear with feedback. I learned to parallel park again in one lesson (after not driving for over 20 years). She is very organized, shows up early and on day of exam we were first in line and finished in less than 20 minutes. I passed thanks to her (after 4 lessons) because she taught me what I needed to know to pass and be a good driver. While we waited for my test to start, a young man knocked on our car window to ask about the exam and didn’t know he needed his own car. He was clearly clueless. Everlina got out of the warm car and spent several minutes explaining the process to him. She is wonderful.

Fantastic experience: Everlina was the absolute best. It seemed impossible to learn how to drive at 39 years old and first time behind the wheel. Well, she immediately put me in the driver’s seat right in Manhattan and the rest is history. I practiced with Everlina on a dozen occasions prior to my exam. She was persistent, clear and encouraging. She honed in on my issues like not staying in the middle of my lane or not being persistent about checking all blind spots. Fantastic experience: My instructor is Everlina, she’s the only female instructor at the driving school. Now when I remember the first time me and my gf ran into her at the school, it is such a beautiful moment. Under her guidance, we passed the road test smoothly with only a few lessons. During the lessons, I felt so comfortable and confident when she sat besides me, I cannot express how professional and warm she is. As a foreigner in the US, she treated me just like her family, she encouraged me every time and trusted my driving skills even more than myself.
