Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about City Auto School:
City Auto School is a driving school that has garnered a mix of reviews from its students. Many users have praised the school for its patient instructors and comprehensive teaching methods, highlighting that they felt well-prepared for their road tests. Positive feedback often mentions instructors like Andrew, Kent, and Raymond for their clear explanations and helpful tips that contributed to students passing their tests on the first try.
However, some reviews express concerns about inconsistent experiences with specific instructors and administrative practices. A few students reported feeling frustrated with basic lessons and insufficient feedback during their training, which contributed to a lack of confidence during tests. Customer service has also received mixed feedback, particularly about the front desk staff's demeanor and communication skills.
Despite the critical feedback, many have had positive experiences overall, noting that City Auto School provides valuable driving education at reasonable prices, as well as supportive staff who ensure a smooth road testing process.
Overall, City Auto School is recommended for its solid instruction and effective learning environment, but potential students may want to inquire about specific instructors to tailor their experience better.
City Auto School: Reviews

Fantastic experience: City Auto School provided excellent instruction. The instructor was patient, and focused on teaching everything necessary to prepare for the road test. The lesson was clear, informative, and very helpful. I highly recommend this driving school!
Negative experience: I recently completed 5 driving lessons with this company and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The lessons felt overly basic and repetitive, lacking crucial information. I failed my driving test because of the gaps in their instruction. At the RMV, I was asked about hand signals—a topic that was never covered in my lessons. I expected them to prepare me for all aspects of the test, which is why I paid for their services. Their failure to do so directly contributed to my test result, and I found the experience extremely frustrating. Will never suggest to anyone.
We understand that failing a driving test can be frustrating, and we genuinely empathise with your experience. While our goal is to provide thorough instruction, it’s important to note that passing the test ultimately depends on a combination of practice, preparation, and the ability to apply the knowledge during the test. No driving schools guarantee a 100% pass rate. However, we would like to clarify that our instructor did review essential topics, including hand signals and hill parking, with all students on the way to the test. This was done to ensure everyone was prepared for the questions that might come up during the exam. During this review, students were encouraged to ask for clarification if anything was unclear. It’s important for us that everyone feels confident, and we always make ourselves available for any questions. While we do our best to prepare students, the test results ultimately depends on applying that knowledge on the day. We’re committed to supporting our students and we wish you the best in your continued learning journey.
Negative experience: Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I had a very frustrating experience with City Auto School. I initially signed up for their 5 classes + 1 road test package, but the service quickly became a money-making scheme. My first instructor, James, was decent but didn't address my questions properly, telling me not to "overthink" instead of providing clear answers. He later pushed me to take 3 additional classes, and shortly after, he left without notice. I was then assigned two new instructors, both of whom were harsh and unhelpful. They gave no useful feedback and only seemed interested in making me pay for more lessons. One of them even told me that James' lessons were a waste of time, showing internal conflicts and lack of professionalism. Despite paying close to $600, I was never properly taught how to parallel park with cones, a critical skill I failed on during my driving test. The front office staff were consistently rude, and the overall experience left me feeling cheated and helpless. I cannot recommend City Auto School to anyone—save your time and money elsewhere. Very disappointed.
We are deeply disappointed by your misleading and unfair review. Let us set the record straight. After failing your road test, you returned with excuses as to why you didn’t pass and demanded a discount, threatening to post a bad review if we didn’t comply. We will not be blackmailed, nor will we tolerate attempts to undermine the integrity of our business. Our instructors, including James, provide the same level of dedication and professionalism to every student. The fact that James no longer works here was communicated to you, and you were given the choice to continue with another instructor or discontinue the classes altogether. You chose to proceed and now claim his departure caused your failure—this is simply untrue. We work hard to ensure every student gets the best training possible, but we will not bend to dishonest tactics. We stand by our team and our service. Sincerely, City Auto School
Negative experience: Took 5 classes but found them mostly basic. Hardly any of my mistakes were corrected properly, failed test due to them. Went to a different driving school for 2 classes where they corrected everything and I was easily able to pass.
Fantastic experience: Andrew is the goat great staff
