Fantastic experience: City Auto School provided excellent instruction. The instructor was patient, and focused on teaching everything necessary to prepare for the road test. The lesson was clear, informative, and very helpful. I highly recommend this driving school!

Negative experience: I recently completed 5 driving lessons with this company and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The lessons felt overly basic and repetitive, lacking crucial information. I failed my driving test because of the gaps in their instruction. At the RMV, I was asked about hand signals—a topic that was never covered in my lessons. I expected them to prepare me for all aspects of the test, which is why I paid for their services. Their failure to do so directly contributed to my test result, and I found the experience extremely frustrating. Will never suggest to anyone.

Negative experience: Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I had a very frustrating experience with City Auto School. I initially signed up for their 5 classes + 1 road test package, but the service quickly became a money-making scheme. My first instructor, James, was decent but didn't address my questions properly, telling me not to "overthink" instead of providing clear answers. He later pushed me to take 3 additional classes, and shortly after, he left without notice. I was then assigned two new instructors, both of whom were harsh and unhelpful. They gave no useful feedback and only seemed interested in making me pay for more lessons. One of them even told me that James' lessons were a waste of time, showing internal conflicts and lack of professionalism. Despite paying close to $600, I was never properly taught how to parallel park with cones, a critical skill I failed on during my driving test. The front office staff were consistently rude, and the overall experience left me feeling cheated and helpless. I cannot recommend City Auto School to anyone—save your time and money elsewhere. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: Took 5 classes but found them mostly basic. Hardly any of my mistakes were corrected properly, failed test due to them. Went to a different driving school for 2 classes where they corrected everything and I was easily able to pass.

Positive experience: I think I gave this place 3 stars which is high. The score I gave is only second to the two ladies at the service desk and the instructor, because the two ladies at the service desk have a good attitude and greet people with a smile, and the instructor is also very patient, but I have taken classes with them for at least more than a thousand yuan, and I couldn't pass them. I felt that when I was taking the exam, I couldn't understand it, and the instructor didn't help. Those people are lazy, and some charge very expensive. If possible, I really want to apply for a refund , but I don't think it's necessary. Overall, the service attitude is really average. Three stars are only given to the two ladies at the service desk and the instructor. Very disappointed with this school, I believe I will not come again, and I will not help recommend this school. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: Thousands of dollars spent here and yet I could’nt pass the test. They had no business booking me for Braintree rmv which is run by idiots looking to intentionally fail you

Negative experience: DO NOT EVER GO THERE!!!! MOST RACIST DRIVING SCHOOL IN ALL OF Massachusetts!!!! The lady at the front desk being the most racist of all. If they could be rated less than 1-star, that’s what they deserve. Horrible horrible experience! VERY HOSTILE TO AFRICANS!!!! Instr. James was the only nonracial person. Probably because he is black American. I’m beginning to wonder if that’s why he was assigned to me. Since we are both black. The 3 visits I had there were a complete nightmare! I ended up insisting on a refund, even though they have a ‘no refund policy’ (I don’t even want to address this because what do you mean by a no refund policy. What’s more, what do you mean by issuing a handwritten receipt in 2024!!!) I paid $250 for 2 classes and the driving test. Called the morning of my first lesson (in severe pains) about 10hours before to inform them I had a medical emergency because I had a surgery and the site reopened that morning. When I got better and eventually went back the lady and the front desk asked me to pay a $30 rescheduling fee because I didn’t call 24hrs before to reschedule. I explained to her that it was a medical EMERGENCY, which of course was unplanned. She said okay and I took my lesson that day. I came back in after my lesson to thank her then left. Fast forward to my second lesson, I got in and she demanded the same $30 again, claiming that just like the ‘no refund’ and issuing handwritten receipts, it was their POLICY. I again explained to this same racist lady that we had this discussion the previous week and we were past that because I had a medical emergency. And there’s is no way I could have come with an open incision site that was draining fluid and hurt as hell. Her response this time around was, “I DON’T CARE, it’s our policy”. I proceeded to show this lady the incision site in question but she was adamant. I told her to take her $30 off the money I had pain and refund the balance as I would not pay my hard earned money for someone to insult me. She was as usual adamant, insisting it’s ’their policy’ We went back and forth, each taking record until she agreed to give me. Again, she insisted I sign FIRST that I had received the money ($170) before she actually handed it to me because according to her ‘I can run away’. Excuse me???!!! Runaway with my money?! How can I sign when I haven’t received the money? Did you issue a receipt before confirming my payment? NO! Talking about they calling the police because I insisted on getting cash before signing anything. This is the most undignified and insulting encounter I have ever had with a RACIST CROWD! They are the absolute worst No wonder no person of color ever dropped a review on their website before. I noticed but took such an important detail for granted. SIMPLY AWFUL For your peace of mind, just don’t go there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Putting this response here because this business blocked me from replying directly to their feedback. Anyways, I am simply doing my little service to humanity by calling them out for what they are. I have no desire to trade words back and forth with them so this is the last I'll indulge them. For your sanity and dignity, DO NOT GO THERE. Notice how I said 'the 3 visits were a complete nightmare and they said I could run away with my money'? The lady at the front desk- which in my opinion is a mirror of an establishment's values was rude, dismissive, and spoke in a condescending manner. She only straightened out slightly when I made full payment. These and more make you racist. To your hiring a Black American instructor, it is simple. It is an illusion. We all know that faux impression of an inclusive environment racist people try to make by sprinkling a person of color in their midst. Back to the $30, that does not make you racist. That makes your establishment inhumane, inconsiderate, and for profit only. And the response of your staff “I DON’T CARE, it’s our policy” cements this. Cheers!

This driving school was one of the best not only with prices but to help focus on what you need. James was my instructor & he told me every little thing the RMV was looking for and what I should/ shouldn't do while driving. Amazing experience overall! Fantastic experience: Thanks to Auto city driving school, I passed the road test for my first try. My coach was Sam( he is coach for Quincy, Braintree area I think), very patient and responsible, if you are looking for someone respectful and easy to work with, he is definitely the one. Andrew is also a nice coach, he took me to the road test, very experienced in the road test, listen to his advice. You will thank him. Overall, a very delightful experience with this driving school. Tips: If you are someone who already knows how to drive a car, remember that road test is not showing off your driving skills but listening to the examiner/following the rules. Can you believe the lady who drove a car over 24 years, failed on the hand gesture? Anyway, road test is a TEST, you are student.

For context, I learnt to drive 4 years ago but stopped when I came to Boston for college. i recently decided I wanted to get my license and paid for the 5 class package + road test at City Auto. My instructor was Kent and he was great! Funny, straightforward and will tell you what you need to know/do to succeed on your road test.

Positive experience: Kent was a very good instructor, definitely ask for him when you book the lessons. The other instructors seem to make you just drive around without any feedback or teaching you the rules/ best practices, which to me feels like a waste of money.

Fantastic experience: They are legit and sincere. I stopped driving because of covid for over a year and had to retake the road test for my license. Needed a car and also a class to know the test requirements. After the class I asked the coach if I need to take one more class because I realized I completely forgot about how to parallel park. Coach said I was driving fine and no need to waste more money. And when I made the reservation for road test for 8AM, they still helped me be my sponsor and provided me vehicle at time. Very appreciated!!!! Everyone is nice there, definitely recommend it.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars for James and Andrew for giving a lot of feedback throughout my lessons. I would give other instructors 4 stars for saving feedback until the end, as I feel it’s better to incorporate it as soon as possible. I took roughly 15 lessons and a road test because I didn’t have many opportunities to practice elsewhere. I failed my first road test because I was really nervous, but I passed my second. They can put you in a road test quickly. Not “fancy” but very efficient and straight to the point. Lessons begin and end right outside of the school (no pickup/drop off) but are a good price compared to what I’ve seen around the Boston area.

Negative experience: Not only did they ask me to change the time for lesson just one day in advance but the instructor was super rude... I think his name was Andrew and he kept being super annoyed at me for everything having zero patience to teach. Not only that but in the middle of the lesson he got a phone call and was talking for like 15min on the phone. I found this very disrespectful given that the total lesson time is just 45min... If you're new to driving I'd NOT recommend this place at all....

Fantastic experience: I took 5 lesson package with one additional lesson before my road test. I had 3 different instructors for my lessons. Which I found beneficial each instructors had different styles of teaching which helped me understand what I needed to work on. On the day of my road test they drove us to the location and drove us back. I passed my road test on the first try.

Positive experience: There’s a lot of variety in instructor types and feedback and I definitely came out of some lessons without receiving any actionable feedback. Once I knew who was best suited for me, I just asked for Kent for all of my lessons and it worked well. Kent deserves 5 stars. He’s super honest and gives legit tips about how to pass the exam.

Positive experience: Mixed feelings here. The instructor was professional, patient, and knowledgeable. It’s affordable versus other driving schools but the only issue is the customer service. The school booked a road test for me without confirming first in which caused a past due balance to appear on my RMV account. I tried resolving this issue with this school and they refused to help and told me they can’t refund because it was last year and it has “expired” which is unprofessional as a business. What do you mean expired?? The manager is rude and I remember the interaction I had with her when the incident happen and she basically said too bad, you will have to pay it, good bye! I asked one of the employees to ask the manager yo give me a call and she said “i’ll see if she calls you”. The least the manager can do is call me, sound a bit apologetic and address my concern even if they can’t refund me. Never coming back to them. I don’t recommend as far as customer service goes.

Fantastic experience: I have tried three driving schools and city auto is the best with the most reasonable price. I failed in my first driving test after more than 16 hours of driving lessons, spending a lot of $$ in another driving school. I felt fever frustrated and decided to try the City Auto. The coach I met (Raymond) in City Auto knows so much about driving and the test. He is also very patient and made me feel less nervous about the test. I only took two more lessons before I passed my exam. The registration for the test is also very fast and much cheaper than my previous driving school. I highly recommend this school especially for beginner! I will definitely ask all my friends to come here.

Negative experience: Good instruction when it came to me just starting off driving for the first time with no experience, but as I got closer to my test I felt as if little details that would have helped me pass were not mentioned. One of my instructors were on the phone the day of my test as I was doing my last lesson.

Positive experience: Solid lessons and instructors. I recommend Matthew, Raymond and Sam, I learnt driving skills which are not only super useful for the road test but also for driving in real life situations, and you can learn from different angles for the same technique from each of them. The booking of the road test is a bit disorientating, I spent $130 for a road test within a month (1st week of August). However, they didn't register the exam until two weeks after August, and I need to pay the $30 road test fee on the rmv website after I passed the road test to get the driver license. Overall a solid driving school if you want to prepare for your road test in Boston. I took 10 lessons and I passed on my first try!

Fantastic experience: A few years back I took two 1hr lessons and then took the driving test. I'm not particularly bright but I passed without issue because of a few key tips my instructor gave me. Now my wife just passed her test first time after a handful of lessons. I look forward to sending my daughter here in 10 years when she starts driving.

Fantastic experience: Great instructors, great service. I had driving license in another country, so I decided to take only one class. The instructor is patient and professional, for only one class I learned all the requirements for the road test. Before I took the road test, the instructor would tell you the general path nearby the RMV and all the points that need to pay attention about. Besides, I arrived early in the city auto, and another instructor gave me some instructions about how to drive in a rainy day, it hughely helped me relax and release pressure! : )

Fantastic experience: I had to do the entire process over of getting my license. I owed a lot of money to Massdot. Therefore, I was unable renew my license. I got my learners permit, but I didn’t have anyone to take me for my road test. I had to wait almost two months for an appointment at the RMV. I went City auto school and they rescheduled my test one week after I got my learners permit! They even asked me what date I wanted to go. They drove me to the RMV and I pass the road test! I was so happy and pleased that City auto school was so professional and efficient. I’m so happy for their service! Definitely five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Negative experience: This is the first time I am writing a review but I do not want people to have bad experience with this school like me. First of all I am kind of person who always think positive but this school is really was disappointing for me. The woman who is the owner of school was sooo mean and rude. She is pretending like she is doing this job for free. And they are so much unprofessional. There is no any evidence like receipt how much you paid. They accept money from zelle. They don't care what you want, when you are available. they arrange 'road lessons' in a different place than the road test place. And when students see road test place first time, they fail. Please don't waste your money with this school and find better option.

Fantastic experience: I took 3 lessons with 3 different instructors, all were absolutely amazing. I couldn’t parallel park for the life of me until I took the lessons. All scheduled within a week time frame. I was able to push my road test up a week ($150), and passed on my first try! Best driving school here in Boston.

Fantastic experience: City Auto is very professional driving school. I passed the road test at first time after 9 classes and I never had any driving experiences before. Sam and Mr. Wen, both are very patient and professional. They gave me lots of useful tips, which helped me learn quickly. These tips are not only useful for road test, but also helpful for driving in real life. Especially Mr. Wen, not only told me lots of driving details, but also gave the explanations about the reasons behind the rules. He is very responsible and nice instructors. And every time one day before the class, the lady of reception always called me to remind me of the time of the class. I highly recommended this driving school.

Positive experience: Decent for the money. I've never driven before, the only driving I've ever done was the 10 lessons + 1 driving test here, which I passed. Andrew is a good teacher. I did have little trouble communicating with him, however, as English isn't his first language. Scheduling of the driving test was slightly chaotic; i paid for a faster driving test schedule (in 2 - 4 weeks). The called me in 2 weeks, but gave me a test at 7am at Braintree AND i would have to get there myself. This is against what the terms of the driving test are (theyre supposed to drive you to the test location, and tests are from 9am onwards). I obviously declined, so they needed more time than the max 4 weeks, effectively rending the extra payment I made for earlier scheduling wasted. later, they didn't call me back until I called them, to which they had trouble with the login code (the RMV uses 2FA to login, and I used an authenticator app) which most people receive by text or email but I never did. I was confused because all they said was "I need code" but what they meant was "I need the authentication code to log into your RMV account" which is overall another language barrier issue. The day of the driving test, I was also given a different (older model year) car that was different than what I was used to, which caused me to be less efficient on the test.

Fantastic experience: One-take passed my road test after having a few lessons with City Auto School. All instructors (I met with three) are polite and respectful. They are all knowledgeable and gave me timely feedbacks, including what I did good and what to improve, throughout the lessons. I felt comfortable driving on the road with them. As a visual learner, I particularly appreciate how Mr. Man used toy cars to show me how to do parallel parking and other maneuver skills. They also told me the tips to handle the road test. The school admin always phoned me a day or two before my lesson as reminder. She was also very up front about the fees so I understand clearly how much were charged and what the charges are for.

I’m a little upset that I don’t remember this one instructors name but he was really detail orientated, professional, and made sure the information that he taught stuck with me, I learned a lot from him. Fantastic experience: I just got 3 classes with city auto school and that was the best experience in my life, Andrew was my instructor and he was very nice all the time, I really recommend this place to learn how to drive, I just pass my drivers license today, I feel very excited

Fantastic experience: I liked the school! They are efficient and have lower prices than others. I got the package of 10 classes plus road test. I took lessons with 4 different instructors that I liked. Especially Lyn (or Liam, not entirely sure) was great and gave me all the useful tips to drive safe, but also pass the exam (which I did).

Fantastic experience: I had classes with Ken and Louis and they are great instructors, caring, thoughtful, fun. Their classes prepared me very well for the road test and today I passed it! Besides the great instructors, the front desk women are professional and they were very helpful booking my test, confirming the classes a day before, and more. An awesome environment!

Fantastic experience: I got my license today because of City Auto School. As an older (30's) student with very little experience and a lot of fear around driving, I appreciated their patience and communication during the lessons. I got the 10-lesson package plus road test. This place is better and cheaper than others around Boston.

Fantastic experience: Luis and Kent was my Instructor. Luis was so polite. Kent was nice and funny. Before the road test starts Andrew told me all the additional information that I needed to know about the test. I passed my road test on my first try.

Fantastic experience: I really recommend city auto driving school, they will really help you learn the safety rules of the road and help you perfect your driving skills . I am so happy with my results attending driving school helped me to accomplish getting my driver's license, what a great transition into the new year 2021 . Negative experience: First of all, my experience with my driving instructor Kent was great. He’s a funny guy and a really good teacher. I’m glad that I was able to learn how to drive right with him from the very beginning. My issue was with the front desk lady (the one without glasses), who is rude and unfit for customer service. I booked a road test with them but I unfortunately failed. I called to ask further questions about booking another one soon, and I wasn’t aware that making extra requests about time/location/sponsor would cost extra money. This rude lady made me aware of the extra costs right away, and she had the audacity to tell me to “relax, and maybe you’ll drive better.” Hmmm excuse me? Is it necessary to be this rude and without compassion to someone who just failed a road test? I took my business somewhere else and passed my road test with them instead. I heard that this rude front desk lady was worried about not making enough money during a recession - guess what, rude customer service IS how you make less money...

Fantastic experience: City Auto school was great! Had 5 lessons to brush up my driving skills along their Road Test service. All went smooth and after very on-point lessons from their very experienced instructors I was able to pass the driving test successfully! A+ crew!

Fantastic experience: Instructor was patient and helpful, especially for road test. The instructor would go over details before the road test, and that helped me a lot.

Negative experience: tl;dr stay away. shady business practices providing critically under-serviced cars for tests I purchased a 5-class + 1 road test package from them. If I could only rate them by their instructors, I would have given them a higher score but that is the only good thing about this place. The administration and manager are horrible. For my road test, they provided me with a car that broke down as soon as my examiner came to begin my test. I had to end up using an RMV car for my test. I contacted them multiple times, asking for refund only for the road test portion of the package as I was happy with the classes. The manager very openly acknowledged that she provided me and three others with a faulty car but also said that she will not refund the money and I can "complain to whomever I want." The worst thing was that when the broke down, the dashboard showed that critical systems such as airbags and tires needed servicing and that the car was used for at 789 miles beyond servicing. They knowingly provided unserviced cars that could have endangered not only our lives, but also other drivers on the road. They will do anything to save extra few bucks. Spend some extra money and go to a school where you do not have to worry about critically faulty cars.
