When I started I thought I was ready but would’ve ended up unaliving someone on the road… Now, I can drive comfortably and passed easily. Cannot recommend enough. Do you want your license? Fantastic experience: I passed!! Passed first time of the ‘actual’ test (long story but technically second time, first time I forgot my corrective lenses and could not take the test). Aubrey is super patient, knowledgeable, and a great teacher. He is always very helpful when I have questions. Fantastic experience: I can't say enough about how smart Aubrey is. Believe it or not there is a talent to being a driving instructor and he has it. I have studied with them all. I have my license but haven't driven in years so I decided to take with some others and it's not that they weren't good, it's just that Aubrey makes me feel confident in sticky situations and he explains exactly what I did wrong, and what I did right. This is the person who will get you over the hump. He doesn't sugar coat things and will tell you when you need to leave the nest and when you need to work at it. You will be in good hands.

Negative experience: This man Aubrey Nurise, is very unprofessional. I did my 5hr course, since December 6, 2023 and it's now January 23, 2024. I still havent gotten my certificate yet. I called him on January 10th 2024, he stated that something is wrong with his certificates and he's waiting on DMV. I call and text from my cellphone since Monday and no answer and it goes straight to voice-mail. I use my daughters cell phone and now it rings until it goes to voice-mail. I need my money back then so I can go else where, this is why I can't support other blk business, because they shady.

The pick-up and drop-off service worked really well with my daughter’s school schedule. The instructor is knowledgeable about safe-driving techniques, attentive while giving lessons and responsive when we had questions. Our daughter passed the roadtest on first attempt. I'm glad that I picked Drivetrain to help out with a one-hour refresher class and road test, as NY driving is an entirely different beast than I had been accustomed to. Fantastic experience: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING HERE! Long story here but I can attest that Aubrey knows his stuff! He really shows you how to drive and pass. I started back in March after my mom offered to give me driving lessons for Christmas and she gave me an ultimatum between Drivetrain and another school in Brooklyn. After reading the reviews I went with Drivetrain. The first day of driving I was mind blown at the fact that I was able to perform a broken U turn and parallel park. Because I have gotten a couple packages (with deals when they were offered) every two weeks for about a three months or so I would practice with Aubrey for about 1hr and 30 min to 2hrs going over maneuvers that were considered fails and the ones that were passing. All in all, he is very patient, polite, and really do personalize your driving lessons based on your experience/ what you need to work on. I requested he acted like the proctor and treat our lessons as if it was an exam because I'm extremely anxious and he did indicating if I would fail or pass and work on it if I messed up on something. Furthermore, he is very through and detail in his explanation. Through his explanations, I was not only learning techniques needed to pass the exam and carry through driving after passing (which I did today) but I was able to learn about the car especially when he explained the wheel turning in terms of revolutions. Also, he encourages you to tell the examiner if you have to do something out of the book (though my examiner at the test site I went to was very cold and basically told me to shut up, which I kind of sorta didn’t do for a very important reason-but that is a whole different review for the road test site). And above all, he is able to keep you calm and relax when it comes to driving and very conversational which is really helpful in helping you to remember to be calm during the exam. And even before the exam when I was breaking down crying-he was cracking jokes and keeping me calm helping me to soothe my nerves. All in all, I passed my exam today and I am already planning on taking lessons again in defensive driving at Drivetrain so I definitely recommend taking him if you are starting out and you need to pass your exam. Even though the prices are a bit high-it is worth the money and if you want to get your NYC driver's license, it is 100% recommended you go to Drivetrain! Forever grateful for this driving school for helping me get my license :) because I not only got it for me but I got it in honor of my late aunt.

Positive experience: I paid for 5 classes at 350.00. Unfortunately I came down sick and had to go to the emergency room the day of my last 2 hour class. When I text to reschedule; the instructor charged me the entire two hours for same day cancellation! Most schools charge a 45.00-55.00 fee which is the average cost per lesson. Most excuse Emergencies/sickness especially during times of COVID. Drivetrain charges 70.00 per driving lesson. I could understand he charged for an hour for cancellation but two hours...140.00 for same day cancellation is REDICULOUS! ROBBERY! Though the car was dated and not very clean he is a patient and thorough instructor.

No one in my family drives as we are all in NYC so at 32, I was SUPER nervous when i was first learning and Aubrey quickly helped me settle my nerves! he explains everything clearly, hes super calm and chill about it and he really worked with me and my crazy schedule. Negative experience: Wanted the car for passing my road test and have 1 hour lesson before the exam. We were supposed to meet at 7:30 AM for being in the test location at 8:30 and have the exam at 9:00. He texted me that he would be 15 mins late, but at 8:15 he still wasn't there. More than 45 mins delay in a pick up location chosen by him. I had to reschedule my road test. At least he was fast with the refund.

Fantastic experience: After failing the test for three times, I finally decided to change an instructor and found Aubrey, who is a life-saver to say the least. He taught me the basic of how a car actually works and actually explained to me why I shoudn't do some of the things that I've been doing all along. While Aubrey is a cautious and very responsible driving, he is nevertheless willing to take me on the highway to practice during my early stage of the driving course, something that none of my other driving even thought about doing. In fact, I know a lot of people having to drive on the highway for the first time after they get the license. Most importantly, Aubrey is great and super easy to get along with.. I am still not tired of him after stucking in a car for more than 20 hours together. Gaining a license has granted me real liberations and freed myself to travel from the galaxy to New Jersey. but now I am gonna drive to greg house first...so thank you Aubrey

Negative experience: It seems like a scam once signed up. Never getting proper communication when I did get a response it was days later. Last response I got was night before 5 hour online course and was told I was getting link sent to me shortly. Next day still nothing. I am an hour from my daughters course and still nothing . Very unprofessional !!! and I am trying to deal with this while I am at work.

May 25th I did their online zoom 5hr class which was convenient and informative and didn't drag like I thought it might. Fantastic experience: Great place to drive. Had my license before in VA and GA but thought I wouldn’t need it in NYC so let it expire. Then an emergency came up and I had to be prepared to drive when I went home to visit family. Was so nervous but they got me into a 5hr class with Yakub the day I got my permit on a Friday and the next Friday had one lesson with Aubrey to get used to the car and got tips for the road test and passed. 7 days from permit to licensing all thanks to this place. I went to this new drivetrain school and the teacher made any errors of mine really easy to fix in clear easy to understand steps. The teacher is laid back and very easy to understand.
