911 Driving School of Seattle: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I recommend David Chen. He's kind and patient. He focused on every detail of your driving and supported me a lot when I took courses there. I finally passed the test with totally 5 courses. It's really a nice place to start your driving experience.
Fantastic experience: I took my driving test with Joshua Chen at 911 Driving School in Seattle, and it was an excellent experience. Joshua was incredibly patient, clear in his instructions, and made the entire process comfortable and stress-free. His professionalism and calm demeanor truly stood out. Highly recommend him and 911 Driving School for anyone preparing for their driving test!
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Julian Bentil as a driving instructor! His patience is truly exceptional—he takes the time to explain everything clearly and ensures you feel comfortable at every step. Julian uses real-time scenarios in his lessons, which helped me build confidence and prepare for any situation on the road. His calm and supportive approach, combined with constructive feedback, made learning to drive a rewarding experience. Whether you’re just starting out or need a refresher, Julian is the perfect guide to help you succeed. Thanks to his guidance, I passed my driving test with confidence and feel ready to drive safely on my own. Thank you, Julian!
Fantastic experience: I took two adult lessons with Joshua Chen at 911 Driving School in Seattle, and he was an excellent instructor. He was patient, clear in his instructions, and made the learning process comfortable and stress-free. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Have great learning and testing experience here! My instructor David is really patient and professional. He points out many bad habits I have while driving. Will definitely recommend him and this school!
Fantastic experience: All the instructors I had lessons with were very kind and did a great job making my feel comfortable on the road. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with this driving school. Instructors Jayshone and Nobel made me feel safe and I really appreciated their reassurance as an adult driver who needed some help getting comfortable on city streets again.
Fantastic experience: Best driving school ever.I had Julian as an instructor, and he was astounding in his teaching. After just five lessons on the road, I was ready for the road test. I passed the road test in only one attempt. My friends are impressed by my driving skills so far. Make sure you ask Julian when you go there. You will not regret it.
Fantastic experience: As someone who has recently moved from another country to Seattle, I had many questions about the process of getting a license. Folks at 911 took care of all those questions, and more. Nobel was a thoughtful, attentive instructor and examiner. I recommend him and 911 in general as a great place to get your WA driving license.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with 911 Driving School, especially as a first-time driver! Julian Bentil was an amazing instructor—calm, patient, and full of practical tips. He helped me build confidence, even on days when I felt anxious, and made sure I practiced both for the test and real-world driving. Thanks to his guidance, I passed my driving test on the first try! Highly recommend Julian and 911 Driving School.
Fantastic experience: Julian Bentil was my instructor here and he did an amazing job coaching! He is very structured in his approach and is incredibly patient. He helped me become comfortable and confident with driving in a short span of time! He also included highway driving in his lessons which was super helpful. Would definitely recommend this instructor to anyone who is new to driving.
Negative experience: My daughter took lessons here, but it hard to get hold of the support. No one ever picks up phone, and hard to get email response. Scheduling is not flexible and they cancel in person driving class without advanced notice. Cars are quite old . With the same price, I’d go the driving school cross the street.
Fantastic experience: The school is professional and fast to respond to my requests. Instructor Joshua Chan is amazing, patient and helped prepare me well for the driving test. Would recommend 911 driving school and my instructor!
Negative experience: Fifty dollars to not be told that you should bring your phone/computer and to have the test proctor speak in full voice the entire time while taking the knowledge test. Extremely difficult to concentrate, not disability friendly and proctor was outwardly mean to students trying to navigate confusing technology. Don't waste your money here.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with 911. I liked the way they helped me with simplify things that I was struggling with like parallel parking. My instructor, Julian, was patient and helped me clear all my doubts. Thank you for a smooth experience.
Fantastic experience: I took a few lessons and driving test here and Jayshone is absolutely best instructor. Others are good as well, never had any issues scheduling classes or tests. Highly recommended!!!
Positive experience: Took my written here and everything went great. Went to schedule a drive test - which they make you pay for before showing a schedule. Then never heard back from them after paying 130 dollars. Emailed several times to schedule - nothing.
Negative experience: First Google review I've ever written, prompted by the worst experience and disrespectful treatment from two staffs at this driving school. I tried to schedule a road test via emails and texts nearly two weeks ago after paying through the student portal, but I never received a reply. So I had to visit the office in person to make an appointment for any available road test slot, which is the most inefficient way for me. Upon arrival, I was informed that they had seen my emails but were too busy to respond without offering any further explanation or apology. I asked if I could know the nearest availability so I could plan in advance, the staff insisted that I should go home and wait for an email response, which I doubted would ever come. Before I left, the staff promised to reply to my email by the end of that day, but they failed to do so. I truly don't know when I will receive a response after waiting for almost two weeks. I understand that things can get busy, but I hope that all customers could be treated with at least some respect and receive assistance from the staffs instead of being promised things that they never intend to fulfill, just to brush people off and send them away
Fantastic experience: I had 10 lesson package with a road test. The instructors were patient ad knowledgeable. Everything is smooth. Sometime it is difficult to schedule my lessons because lots of students I believe
Negative experience: There more than everyone else. If they fail you they get to charge you twice. Worst place to go in Seattle. No problems at a more affordable testing facility the next day
Hello, We wish we could give you as many chances as you need to pass your road test, unfortunately we have to pay our drivers each time they conduct a road test. This means that if you fail a test and would like to schedule another one, we will need payment for the new test. We do not charge twice for any service ever. We do our best to make sure our customers are happy and driving on the road safely.
Negative experience: i would give zero stars if that was possible. My driving examiner was horrible. They talked down to me, especially insulting where I am originally from . My examiner (2 years ago) straight up told me that "my people" don't know how to drive and "why should they let my people on the roads around their loved ones" . Honestly, save your money and go to a better driving school. I went to defensive driving school after this horrible experience and the defensive dirivng school hoenstly made me a better driver.
Fantastic experience: Passed the knowledge test and driving test here, pretty nice place! All the staff I met are friendly and helpful (Great thanks to Jayshone, Stephen, and David! You guys are awesome!) and they provide other languages for the lessons for non-native speakers.
Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend 911 driving school for your teen drivers. My son had an amazing experience with his classroom instructor. Since the instructor was former law enforcement, not only did he get the regular rules of the road info he also received knowledge regarding what not do to in detail. His drive instructor, Alejandro, was awesome. He made sure that my son knew everything that he needed to know to be a safe and cautious driver. When he did his drive test, Alejandro was also his driving instructor. He made my son feel very at ease & he also passed the drive test with 98%. Thanks again Alejandro!
Negative experience: I would suggest going to defensive driving school right across the street, they give you an overview of your mistakes in both knowledge and driving test. 911 driving school employees are rude and you cant reason with them.
Fantastic experience: David was a great instructor who was calm and encouraging throughout the lessons. Highly recommended :)
Fantastic experience: My class and exam were with Alehandro. He is very expert and calm. Recommended
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with David as my instructor. He was quite calm and encouraging. It helped me a lot since I was new to driving. I also took one freeway lesson with Alejandro. Would definitely recommend these two instructors for someone who is looking forward to learn to driving from scratch.
Fantastic experience: I had my warmup and road test today with Jayshone, and it was a fantastic experience. Jayshone was incredibly encouraging and taught me many practical skills. I highly recommend him!
Fantastic experience: My experience with the driving school was good. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable, and I passed the driving test in first attempt
Fantastic experience: Alejandro had been a great instructor, he helped me build confidence in driving in city traffic and in highways. He shared lots of tips on safe driving practices and was very calm & patient throughout the road sessions. For a person like me who had absolutely zero driving experience before, he made it super easy & fun for me, and I could pass the road test in one attempt.
Negative experience: Took lessons and a test a year ago. Would highly recommend specifically Rami and David. They are highly knowledgeable and teach you with specific instructions on what to do and what not to do. Giving it a one star just because of Jon. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had a speech prepared about you killing your friends and family like a high schooler, without actually teaching you anything. If you look at scheduling, you’ll see some instructors are booked out and some completely open. Now you understand why. But at the end of the day, the question you’d need to ask yourself is: why take courses here specifically? There are plenty of places with highly knowledgeable and helpful staff where you won’t run into issues like this. Take your hard earned money elsewhere. That’s what I did somewhere in Bellevue. I took some lessons, passed the test, and learned way more than I ever did without any of this.
Fantastic experience: Tina and Alejandro are the best! They both made me feel welcomed and relaxed. I was a bit nervous at first. Alejandro is an excellent examiner. He guided me through the road test very nicely. Thank you guys very much! I recommend 911 Driving School to everyone.
Fantastic experience: I took a highway driving lesson with Alejandro, and he was extremely encouraging, patient and detailed when explaining all the steps of how to merge, change lanes and exit the highway. He had me practice it twice and also did some extra practice on how to parallel park and adjust mirrors. I feel a lot more confident driving after taking just that one lesson from him! Thank you so much
Negative experience: I took a course here in spring 2018 with Mr. Enpart who was great! Really awesome teacher. Unfortunately I had a really bad experience during the practice drives with instructors. This older white man named Charles was my assigned instructor. He was impatient throughout the drive, and after he listed the four possible situations of where to turn the wheels when parking- rapid fire, he quizzed me on one. I gave the wrong answer after which he yelled and asked me if I had a learning disability. Later that drive he asked me another question and when formulating a response I used “um” as a filler. Before I could continue, he mocked me saying “Um Um Um”. This isn’t how you treat a 15 year old kid. It’s still something I think about today, so I thought it was worth sharing. Going through some other reviews it seems like others have had other similar negative experiences with verbal abuse..
Sorry about your bad experience back then, we have since changed management, staff, and instructors.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! I took two driving lessons and a road test, both the instructors were kind and friendly. The instructors helped me improve on parallel parking and backing up techniques and also helped boost my confidence in driving.
Fantastic experience: I'm writing this review for Anthony. He is kind, patient, and super encouraging. Thanks to him, my driving experience and the test itself felt incredibly smooth and effortless. He made me feel at ease throughout the process. I can't speak highly enough of him and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking a knowledgeable and supportive driving instructor.
Fantastic experience: Sydney Moran, who is a lovely person, is the instructor at 911 driving school Seattle, which is the best academy. She was my instructor and I passed my road test on the first attempt. I would highly recommend her & this institute. She is kind, knowledgeable, and beautiful!
Fantastic experience: I have had a great experience with this driving school. I’m a big guy so had a hard time finding a place that had a car that I could fit into. The employees were friendly when helping me find and then schedule my practice drives with the bigger car. Sydney did my practice drive and was friendly while also very helpful. Her tips and guidance taught me a lot. I did my road test with Anthony who was also so friendly, helpful and professional. With this school I was able to become and better driver and get my license. I definitely recommend this place for those looking for a bigger car to comfortably drive in.
Fantastic experience: Derek was my instructor and I can’t say enough good things about him. I had a great time driving with him. He made sure I was comfortable and reiterated the rules as needed. The best thing, he was also my husband’s instructor so there you have two people’s recommendation :) I do have good amount of driving experience in India but I think it had been three years since I drove. I was looking for being more comfortable on US roads and with the rules. Derek is an amazing individual and he was respectful, I went to my classes without any pressure or stress. Can’t recommend him enough!
We're so glad you and your husband had a positive learning experience!
Positive experience: Took 5 classes, knowledge and road test as well. I mostly worked with Antony, and he was always upbeat and optimistic, and always made sure to follow up properly on any questions I had. Although its pricey, definitely would recommend.
Fantastic experience: I have taken classes from 911 before and I passed my knowledge test but my first try on road test wasn’t good also instructor was rude and cold towards me but my second try on road test was the best experience, I did the practice before test then started the test, Instructor Alexandro was so nice, helpful, and made me feel comfortable, he is patient, kind, always checking up on me asking how I am doing, and so friendly, this is best experience with 911 driving school and instructor Alexandro, thank you for being so nice and making me feel comfortable, I appreciate and would definitely recommend him!!!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this school. My primary reason for coming here was to rebuild confidence with driving after a traumatic car accident. I had put off driving for years and the sheer thought of it was overwhelming. I took lessons here with Anthony whom I could not recommend more. He has a positive attitude, calm demeanor and will never push you beyond what you're comfortable doing. He always asked me what I wanted to work on and didn't mind if we spent the whole lesson working on one thing . The freeway was one of my biggest fears and the day I decided to tackle it, he eased my mind by telling me to think of him as my insurance, and that if I decided I didn't want to drive anymore, he could take over from there. Five lessons later, I was finally at a point where I didn't feel like shutting down at the thought of getting behind the wheel again. I don't think I could've been able to get back into driving without Anthony's guidance, I'm soemtimes still in shock that I'm even capable of driving again! If you're thinking about taking lessons here, let them know what kind of learning style + personality you prefer and they'll match you with some options. Because getting back into driving was a big fear of mine, I knew I needed someone calm, not too serious and reassuring and got that in Anthony! Thank you 911 Driving School for getting me back on the road with confidence!
Fantastic experience: I had the most wonderful experience with 911. I wanted to take the driving test as soon as possible and 911 was the only driving school that was responsive. I booked an appointment the same day for the test + a warmup. I highly recommend the warmup to get used to the car and get rid of the stress while driving. My instructor was Derek. He was very kind and really put me at ease and helped me relax and not stress out. He gave me really good advice during the warmup. We talked while I was driving and it was a very pleasant conversation. I passed the test! Highly recommend! Thanks Derek!
Negative experience: Please do not waste your precious time, energy and money by going to this school. I wish I could give 0 rating. Had a very bad experience! The instructor (Derek) is super rude and has no patience at all. IMO if you can't be patient and calm while teaching someone how to drive, you shouldn't be an instructor at all! He will literally yell at you for being a novice driver. I mean how hard is it to understand that someone is taking lessons because they want to learn and improve their driving skills. The student obviously doesn't have enough practice and that's why they're paying you to learn and practice. But he will just demotivate you by shouting at you constantly and it will be very difficult for you to drive or even learn anything substantial with all his negative energy! I wish I had read all the negative reviews before wasting my time, energy and money here!
Fantastic experience: Scheduling was super convenient, plus you can pick who you want to instruct you. Charles Greene was my choice for all 10 sessions + driving test. He was super nice but also told me what I needed to hear. His method of teaching was very effective. If given the choice to go back in time I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else the locations we drove in also helped with experience for seattle driving, with lots of one way streets and weird intersections that don’t make sense to anyone but the people who designed the streets of seattle. Good school for people who want to drive safe and get experience in more advanced/busy roads
Fantastic experience: Had a very good experience taking a lesson then a warm-up and practical test with Anthony. Really nice guy, great energy and very helpful and encouraging. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for an instructor. Thanks again, Anthony!
Negative experience: The last people you want teaching young, impressionable, and nervous drivers are "instructors" as high-strung and impatient as the ones you'll find here. Rather than try to work with you to overcome mistakes, they will only belittle and berate you for daring to be new to driving, even while you're still on the road and need as few distractions as possible. I distinctly remember the individual I tried to test with gleefully pointing out that I failed my test on the same road as an SPD vehicle, and that's after being yelled at during practice (by a completely different instructor) for so long I began to shake from the stress, something I have never experienced prior. You will learn nothing here; spending money here is nothing short of a waste. I only felt like I was actually capable of growth in my driving ability once I stopped consulting this business for practice, because they truly are that horrible at encouraging and teaching novices to drive. I can promise you won't find a more counterproductive driving school anywhere else. As you can tell by the owner's response, there is no responsibility taken for their lack of courtesy. They will only deflect blame, plug their ears and scream about how you're a liar like the children they are.
It is not uncommon for people who do not pass their drivers test to blame someone else for their lack of skill and knowledge. Instead of leaving false reviews, we recommend you spend some time learning the rules of the road and practice them with another licensed driver.
Negative experience: This is worst driving school in Seattle. Everyone is rude here right from girl on reception to the so called instructors who take tests. I attended drive test with warm up which quite expensive. This instructor eating peanuts on the passenger seat and taking my test. Test result was negative as this testing location needs money and disqualifying people for that. Don’t schedule your tests here…
Negative experience: The driving instructor here are so rude, they try to demotivate you so that you end up buying more and more lessons from them as a way to make money. I had purchased a warm up road test package in their vehicle and the instructor first asked me whether I had taken any lessons from them, I said no but I have a foreign license and I have been practicing on rentals before taking the test. As soon as he knew this, he started demotivating me in the warm up part of the session. He started pointing out things that I was “obviously” doing wrong and recommended that I should take their lessons before even we began the test. And then there was it, he started the test to wait for one mistake I did, after which he just quit the process and declared I failed my test. Incredibly rude instructors and unprofessional staff. Highly recommend going elsewhere with your business. Thank you.
Negative experience: Do not get your driving education here. All but one of the driving teachers were rude, mean, and often made me feel extremely uncomfortable. To illustrate the pervasive culture of discourtesy, I will give you two examples of this driving school's extremely poor customer service. First, on the day of my knowledge test I went to the location for the test. I was given my test in a separate room. Not only did no one supervise my test (meaning I could have very easily cheated because they allowed my phone in the room and no one was watching) but a bunch of instructors in the next room over were chatting and laughing extremely loudly. I could barely focus on my test as the people in the next room talked about the merits of city living vs farm life and about homelessness in Seattle. Second, on the day of my driving test I had another nasty experience. I walked in to the school to check-in and the instructor handed me a folded paper and told me to sign where it was highlighted. Curious, I unfolded the paper and saw another place where it was highlighted. I asked if I should sign that too. The instructor look at me with such animosity, hostility, and bitterness and said something along the lines of "this is why you have to listen to my instructions the first time. If you don't you will fail this test." He didn't answer my question and just grabbed the paper back from me. By the time I got in the car, I was shaking because I am so unused to people who are just purely mean for the sake of being mean. These are just two examples of many. During driving lessons, I had several instructors raise their voices at me, ask me if I'm stupid, or tell me I was doing a "horrible" job. After my first driving lesson, I felt so miserable about my skills due to the constant negativity. I have no reason to assume that their verbal abuse was reserved for me, as I am a good student and passed my tests with good grades. I believe the instructors just imagine they are tough alpha males, the perfect antidote to all the positivity and snowflake sensibility of schools in liberal Seattle. Please do not learn to drive at this school. P.S. I am using an alias so as to prevent retribution. Something I would not put past the instructors at this school.
Negative experience: Update : i learnt the rules from youtube. some of my friends helped me learn driving. Took the road test in 911 bellevue and passed it in the first attempt. Better don't go to these 911 seattle guys, bellevue is better. I would ideally give a zero. stay away from Derek and jon (most unprofessional people, condescending people who treat you badly). I have taken 5 classes and had a very bad experience. The instructor (Jon Papaioannou) shouted and unnecessarily made me so much more nervous that I made more mistakes than I usually would. he gave speeches, was rude and had attitude issues. he told me that I shouldn't be driving in Seattle with my driving skills as his relatives and friends live in this city and i could possibly kill them (clearly indicating that i am an outsider). it was a personal attack on me. he hit the brakes hard in the middle of the road and lectured me without even letting me park it on the side. There was no moment he didn't stop yelling at me. They are a bunch of unusally arrogant unprofessional people. You need to have your peace of mind to learn, which i didn't find there. They really created a bad environment and left me demotivated. 911 seattle instructors are not really worth the time and effort.
Negative experience: Worst customer service. The instructors seem overworked and are not courteous. They always seem like they are having a bad day. I took a driving lesson and the instructor spent 40 mins re-evaluating my knowledge skills, though I took the knowledge test with them 2 days ago. On road time was less than 15 mins. Total waste of money.
Negative experience: Please read the full review. Along with high rating reviews, read low rating reviews as well. I had similar experience as people who have rated low. I had great experience with knowledge test and bookings for knowledge and driving tests. Office staff is really supportive and respectful. For driving test, though instructor assigned to me was aged, knowledgable and expecting to obey rules perfectly which is a nice thing, instructor was very rude while giving instructions. Same behavior I observed from other aged instructors. I don't know how it will be helpful in identifying if you have good driving skills or not by telling you to identify assigned car from the key. On top of that they will make you listen to harsh words. This is utterly ridiculous. God knows what is their agenda in making customer feel nervous before driving test. Don't go for driving test with 911. Though you can go for knowledge test. Update (22/09) - Below response from owner itself speaks a lot about how they would be treating their customers. I haven't taken second road test with 911. I would never do that with the experience that I had.
Negative experience: Instructor(Charles) didn’t even complete the test and just brought me back in 5 mins because of one mistake.I understand I made a mistake(not bringing speed to 0mph at stop sign) but they should atleast take the entire test so that candidate knows what they need to improve on.
Unfortunately what you described is a rule of the road that you broke. Per WA State DOL law, when a tester breaks the law, the test is over. We cannot go through the rest of the test because it has ended. The time does not then turn into a practice test. We recommend you study and or take some lessons.
Negative experience: My instructor's feedback was unnecessarily rude, and I did not feel comfortable at all during the test due to his passive-aggressive nature. I agree with most of the feedback, given that I practically drove like how a person would when they have a gun pointed to their head (thanks to the super friendly instructor), but I do not appreciate the way the feedback was conveyed. It really doesn't take a lot to be at least nice to people.
Negative experience: I could have given zero star if I could, had very bad experience with 911 Seattle. Had booked 5 sessions with them and at the end of it I felt it was money wasted. The other instructors are average, but Charles is the worst. He shouts at you, mocks you (for legit he mocked how I talk in the car making gestures), makes you so much more nervous that you tend to make more mistakes than you usually would. Wanted to make complain against him at the end of my 5th session but wasn't worth the effort. That guy has anger issues. Other than that, this one time I had arrived at the branch early for my session so was able to listen to the instructors, there were 3 of them sitting and sharing stories among themselves about how novice drivers made mistakes during their sessions and were making jokes off of them, something a professional instructor would avoid doing as the pupils are still learning and they are the ones paying! Was utterly shocked by how they mock their very customers. One of the examiner barged in from the road test and announced that it was the shortest road test he had, about 5 mins, failed the guy immediately and was flexing like it was a big achievement for him to fail a guy this fast. This branch will make money off of you, hoping for you to register multiple times for road tests. I would recommend 911 Bellevue instead, their instructors and examiners there are super friendly and understanding and you can pass test swiftly with enough practice.
Fantastic experience: I went to this school for my knowledge test, 3 driving classes and then the road test. The entire process was really smooth and the staff was really cordial and helpful! I took class under Charles Greene. Under his supervision, I was able to understand important concepts like SMOG, rules of the road, being vigilant while driving. Charles' way of teaching is comprehensive, he helped me understand the logic behind each action to be taken and due to that, things became more intuitive. I highly recommend this school for any person wanting to apply for a driving license.
Fantastic experience: I had an awesome experience taking adult driving lessons with David and Derek. Special thanks to David who I took the most lessons with. David was very supportive and knowledgeable. He took the time to understand my goals and gave me just the right amount of information that I need. I would recommend those lessons to anyone who wants to become more confident in driving.
Fantastic experience: From the Top: 1) Context : I recently moved to USA from a different country. I was fairly confident about driving (been driving for 11 Years, with an experience of about 70,000 miles) and learnt about Washington state driving laws and cleared the knowledge test outside of 911. I had some experience driving in US (with my foreign license), but wasnt aware if i was making any major mistakes. I decided to go with a 1 hour driving class to get an initial evaluation of my driving which would then be followed by either a test or another class. 2) The first Contact : So i reached out to 911 Driving School Seattle sometime in april via phone. The phone wasnt answered but they got back to me later that day with the availability schedule. I scheduled the 1 hour class (using school car) with Rami Lopez. And oh man, he is sooo awesome. He is patient and very descriptive. He was polite and friendly, and super understanding. He answered my questions to the point, added his own tips, corrected me on a few mistakes that I was making. There were instances when i asked rami to repeat his sentence even 3 times (i was probably focussed on driving, so couldnt process what he mentioned) and he patiently repeated himself each time. At the end of the lesson, i felt fairly confident post and felt i was ready to schedule the test. Feel free to take a feedback from your instructor. 3) Judgement Day : Post the session, i scheduled my driving test via email (Got a response in like 10 mins from the driving school with the schedule and costing). I opted for the warm up (to calm myself and to do another round of implementation of the tips rami gave me the other day). Ideally, on the warm up, you shouldnt be asking a lot of questions about the test or rules. The purpose is to get familiar with the car and get in the driving zone, build your focus and confidence etc that day. But, Rami was quite friendly, and was ok to give me short but useful feedback on the test run too! On the final test session, the instructor provide you instructions of what to do, and lets you do your thing without much feedback or interference which is what Rami did. In the end, i was able to pass the test. Quick Tips 1) Take the 1 hour driving Session : - It helps to get an opinion on your overall driving such as turning, parking tips (to do a quick 2/3 point parking), reversing a corner, being catious etc. - It helps to have minor misconceptions corrected, such as in my case, i didnt know bicyclist need to stop at the stop sign as well. Ask all these questions and get an authoratative answer. - It helps to familiarize with the area. The area in which i was driving had pretty narrow roads with traffic coming from multiple directions. It helps to get a general idea of the area. 2) Be open to feedback : I had been driving for 11 Years, but like every human, i wasnt perfect. Understand that your instructor wants you to be a better and safer driver. They are vouching for your success. They are your teachers and mentors and they dont want to set you up for failure. Maybe they are not familiar with your way of driving, but maybe you are not familiar with a better way of driving. You will understand what it takes, when you try to teach someone how to drive and let me confirm you, its not easy if the person your teaching isnt willing to learn. 3) Consider taking the school car : The instructor has brakes on the school car. They dont use the brake randomly, unless really needed. In my case, i was nervous the first few minutes and humans tend to make mistakes when they are nervous. It is good to have a backup mechanism.
Fantastic experience: I signed up for a 5 class package at 911 driving school and the people there were very friendly and patient.I had Charles Greene as my instructor for all my classes. If you are someone who isn't confident while driving or gets anxious (like me), I would highly suggest you to go with him. He is extremely good at breaking down the big tasks like parallel parking into smaller tasks and will make you feel completely at ease. He would truly push you to overcome your fears - not just in the moment but for the long run as well. I saw significant improvement in my driving from 2nd class itself and couldn't have passed my test in such a short time without him. Thank you Charles and everyone at 911 for helping me and being so kind!
Fantastic experience: I met with a nasty accident almost 2 decades back when I was a kid and I’ve been fearful of driving ever since. When I started out at 911 Driving School, I could barely drive at 12 mph, drove into an oncoming lane, and was making a whole lot of mistakes. I was just gripped with fear throughout the whole time. Today, I did my driving test and I scored a 100!! I couldn’t have done this without Charles Greene. That man truly helped me with facing my fears and preparing for the test. He will be hard on you if he has to, but just know he’s doing that to push you to where you need to be. I also wanna thank 911 Driving School for being patient and helpful with all my rescheduling of lessons.
Negative experience: Try to avoid this driving school. I had experience with 911 Bellevue and Seattle. The Bellevue one is 100 times better than the Seattle one. What i found as the major problem with this driving school is that they don't care or listen to what the client really wants to study. The instructors simply enjoy having a ride with you going through the general driving sessions without spending efforts to improve the tougher skills like reverse or parallel parking. The excuse they give for this is the scores for reverse and parallel park in driving test is less. Which is an absolute rubbish as you need these skills even after passing the driving test. AVOID CHARLES : Try to avoid sessions with Charles, he likes to give you speeches and not practical lessons and was SUPER RUDE. I wasted a complete lesson listening to his philosophies without learning a thing. Rami was good, he was listening to my requirements and wasted no time in 3 of my lessons. Another major problem with the driving school is that, even if you book for classes in nearby dates, you will get different instructor each time. And each time the instructors have this tendency to start afresh. No one cares what is the current stage in your learning and progress from it. If we call this out, instructors especially the older guys won't take this in the right spirit. Don't waste your time and money with this driving school. Don't ever take a chance.
Negative experience: Had rude experience with some of instructors especially Charles and David. Charles especially didnt allow me to ask questions and kept saying "just follow what I say". few other disadvantages : 1) instructor kept changing for all my classes 2) each instructor doesn't teach "how to", but tell me "what I did", cut marks, write something and finish the day. This is not what is expected out of driving school when a person with no driving experience comes.. 3) all the topics were not covered. I had to keep asking school to check when the missed topics will be covered even my 8th class. 4) lots of reschedule issues by the school. 5) lack of teaching structure on the topics
Fantastic experience: I scheduled a warmup(30 mins) and driving test with instructor Bill and it was an amazing experience. I was very nervous and during warm up Bill made sure I was calm and he pointed out my mistakes which helped me clear my test. I would definitely recommend Bill for your driving test
Positive experience: The instructors are quite knowledgeable and helpful. They take notes during each class. I took 10 lessons (+ Knowledge test) out of which 1st 5 lessons were with different instructors. I got perspective from all of them. Although I was learning in each lesson, I figured out that working with 1 instructor for all my lessons is proving more beneficial, which I did from the 6th class. Of all Rami is the best. He is very patient, friendly and approachable. He would point out my mistakes & would make sure to correct my thought process. He demonstrates things well & I would recommend him. Note: Rami only teaches during weekdays in Seattle campus.
Fantastic experience: Took both my knowledge and road test here. Had the pleasure of driving with Derek for the road test, which was a very comfortable and professional experience. On top I also got a thorough advise/explanation for how to get the actual license/card from DOL. Will definitely recommend this driving school!
Fantastic experience: I did 5 driving lessons and a road test with them. I had a pleasant experience from start to finish. Everyone was friendly and eager to help. My instructor was Rami Lopez. He's the very best!
Fantastic experience: All of them are great instructors. If you have any road anxiety or getting your driving license for first time, I would suggest to go with Rami, He has been quite patient with my mistakes and has a very calm demeanor which was very important for me. When you do a mistake, he makes sure you take a reroute in same class to come back to that mistake again and patiently teaches until the student has rectified the mistake with proper understanding. He remembers and also randomly covers the same mistake again in subsequent classes to ensure consistency as well. It is also less theory and more practical application with him. He also asked for what I want to practice at the beginning of every lesson. If you want a young instructor who is also calm, I would suggest David. I also took lessons with Marc, who is a great instructor with a deep understanding of reasoning behind traffic rules. He also helps you with weighing importance and priorities of different rules both for road test and also in general driving. He made some maneuvers simple for me by breaking down the task into smaller chunks. Overall all the instructors, not only teach you what is needed for your road test, but also ensure you being a safe, better and cognizant driver.
Fantastic experience: It is the best driving school in seattle. I had never driven before and took 10 sessions with them, and it was just enough to get a good grip on driving and even pass the test. The instructors are highly knowledgeable and constantly take notes on what skills need some polishing, etc.
Fantastic experience: I did my driving lessons here with David. David was professional, and helped me learn to drive safely. David was encouraging and gave me the confidence to drive. I was able to finish my lessons within 5 classes and also get my driving license.
Fantastic experience: Derek is a great instructor - especially for someone who already drive in their home country. He makes the driving lesson very enjoyable and less stressful. I would really recommend him as your instructor.
Fantastic experience: Derek is a great instructor. I was really nervous before my driving exam but he made sure I was comfortable during the exam and he gave me lot of confidence. He figured out my weak areas and gave training to overcome the mistakes I was doing.
Fantastic experience: 911 driving school is a very professional and so helpful. Special thanks to Charles, he is the best instructor. Very good observation and know your needs. He makes learning much easy and so helpful. Thank you Charles and 911 driving school. Peggy
Fantastic experience: My instructor Rami was really informative and professional. He teach you all the maneuvers with calm approach so you don’t feel too stressed. His knowledge is top notch and he teaches you skills that will help you beyond your driving test. Highly recommend!
Positive experience: I would highly recommend the instructor David & Charles who taught practical driving skills and judge you by how good you drive VS how OBVIOUS you try to turn your head at SMOG. In the meantime, I would recommend against Marc, who is the opposite style. The sad thing is that even though he tried hard to teach you the details about test, he will still get arbitrary marks off the test that won't help you anyway...
Positive experience: I took my knowledge test and 10 (1 hour) Adult driving lessons and my driving test in this school. Had 4 lessons with Charles and rest of the lessons with Marc Loveall. The front desk employees are very nice. They are super responsive to the emails. They were kind enough to schedule one more class for free of charge to compensate for the last minute cancellations for 2 lessons. Posting reviews for both of my instructors to help people. Charles: 1. He never wore mask in the car which used to feel a bit unsafe. 2. He goes into too much detail (theory). So I could only drive for just 15-20 mins in every class, since the car used to be parked most of the time while he teaching me theory. 3. He missed some important details while teaching me parking on a hill (like which direction would your front wheels move if the curb is soft, Marc covered all those details for me). 4. By the end of the 4th class, I didn't know how to make turns (left/right) but he took me to freeway in my 3rd class, he could have rather focused on city driving, teaching me how to take turns. Marc Loveall: 1. He is a great instructor. Always made sure the driving seat is sanitized and always wore the mask during the lessons. Felt safer. 2. I started all over with Marc as I was not confident with my driving. He taught me theory very quickly and focused more on practical driving. 3. Once I was confident with the city driving (taking turns, changing lanes), he then taught me parallel parking and backing around the corner. 4. With Marc, I got to practice driving a lot in every class (around 40-45 mins) which boosted my confidence. 5. I scheduled my driving test as well with him and he made me so comfortable that I didn't even realize that I was taking the test and I passed with high score (above 90) in my first attempt. I don't know about other instructors but I would definitely recommend Marc as he is very calm, focuses on practical learning, tells small details and explains with logic which makes it really easy to understand and drive.
Positive experience: I had awsome and friendly experience with 911. I took 10 lessons and driving test and it went smooth. I had to cancel classes due to some medical reasons they were quick to reschedule class with no extra fee. Special thanks to Charles , I havent driven at all and being my first time behind the wheel he made it easy to understand the basics as his teaching techniques are fun to learn. I would suggest to take a class with him and would be worth it. Thanks to Charles, I was able to pass the test in one attempt. Thanks 911 for a great experience.
Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience with 911 Driving School. I took both my knowledge and road test here along with two road lessons as preparation and the service provided by 911 and their incredible instructors was always amazing and fair. I had the absolute pleasure of working with two different instructors here (one when I was taking the lessons and another instructor in the road test I took today) and both of them had an incredible ability to instruct calmly and clearly and make the ride feel both informative and tranquil. When I had faults they allowed me to learn better how to fix them. My road test was a perfect example of this as I came in extremely nervous but my instructor/examiner helped calm those nerves down and I proceeded to do well in the test and had an incredible conversation on top of that. Overall amazing people over at 911 Driving School Seattle and I wholeheartedly recommend them to any new or learning drivers.
Fantastic experience: Great school! They helped me to become a confident driver in a short time. Instructors were patient, supportive and possitive, They explained the rules and skills clear, allowed to learn on mistakes. I had the lessons with Rami, Derek, Mark and David. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I took the knowledge and road test with 911 Driving School of Seattle and was highly impressed by their friendly and professional approach to offering the service. The neighbourhood is tough to take the road test, with its narrow streets, vehicles parked on both sides, numerous stop signs, protected and unprotected turns, school zones etc.. But my instructor's super helpful guidance in the warmup lesson helped me not just get a good understanding of the route but also map out key driving tactics to manage during the actual test. He was relaxed, friendly and offered lots of great advice on acing the test. With his guidance, I was able to pass the road test quite easily. Two thumbs up to the school and their staff, I would highly recommend them to anyone considering driving lessons and/or testing services for a WA state DL.
Fantastic experience: I had my second road test yesterday with Mark and he's a great examiner. He's a great communicator, calm and very knowledgeable and very generous in sharing tips, answer questions when the test was finished.
Fantastic experience: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND to join 911 driving school. I took lessons pack and they covered every skill needed for driving exam as well as covered real life scenarios during lesson. Rami is awesome tutor as well as others. Front desk employees were very accommodating as well and helped me plan out learning class as per my schedule. I would recommend to join their cancellation waitlist if you wanna have lessons faster and availability is less due to high demand. Thank you ☺️
Fantastic experience: I went here for both my knowledge test and road test and had a great experience both times! I booked a 40 min warm up along with my road test, and I was nervous at first but my driving test instructor Rami helped me stay calm and focused throughout and answered all my questions. He understood which manouvers I needed to focus on and ensured we practiced those at least a couple times. Overall, it was professional, efficient and great value. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: I had a very bad experience at this school. It seems like failing two times on the driving test is the only reason instructors are hired here especially in case of immigrants. I signed up for the warm up session before the test, but the instructor never told me that warmup time has started, never let me ask any questions. Anytime I say something, he'll get very offended and will start yelling. I took the test twice and both times it seems intentional to fail for no mistakes. They are more interested in running a business than actually passing the candidates.
We are sorry you were unable to pass the Washington State Department of Licensing road test. The State of WA has established the test to assure that all motorist can safely operate a vehicle on the road ways. Driving on the wrong side of the road caused you to fail both tests. It is important that the Washington State rules be followed to eliminate injuries and deaths on our roadways. Applicants that fail the road test should practice driving to gain the skills necessary to be safe and collision free for a life time.
Fantastic experience: I gave both my written and road test here. The staff was always polite and courteous. For my road test, my instructor was Derek and he was amazing. I was nervous but he was super calm and made the test seem like a regular drive. Highly recommend them!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Marc as my instructor. Marc was a pleasure to learn from. Always positive and fun which is helpful in stressful moments. Plus he is such a knowledgeable and supportive instructor. He was very calm at my most nervous moments, and he always put me at ease. Whenever I needed extra practice or had a weakness, he made sure to repeat those maneuvers until I was comfortable. He no doubt has made me a better and safe driver, and I will miss my drives with him. Highly recommend scheduling with Marc :)
Negative experience: My instructor Charles was the most unprofessional and disrespectful person I've had to be in contact with for a long time. Upon arriving and passing my written test on the second attempt, Charles proceeded to tell me the passing score I got suggested I would fail the driving test. When it came to the driving portion Charles removed his mask in the vehicle, something I did not feel safe bringing up since he was the one testing me, and this was an overall threat to my safety as I am immunocompromised. 911 do better. Looking through these reviews is troubling and I see many people of color upset with the behavior your employees demonstrated. Will not be returning and do not recommend.
We are being falsely accused in this bad review. All of our instructors wear a mask during their drives, and never take them off while testing or instructing. Charles is one of our best instructors and these accusations are false. Every one of our customers satisfaction and experiences are our highest priority. We have dash cams in every car recording the duration of all drives so that we may address any issues if they arise, because we care about our customers.
Fantastic experience: Took my driving test today. The instructor was really nice. Dereck big shout-out for helping me calm my nerves while giving the test.
Fantastic experience: Gave my driver's test last Friday. Charles was an amazing instructor. His guidance during the warm-up drive was super helpful. I feel that crash course made me an extremely good driver. Happy to pass the test and learn from the best!!!! :)
Fantastic experience: Despite having driven before, I learnt valuable details to equip me to be a good driver. Derek was patient, friendly and very informative. I am glad I went with 911 driving school.
Fantastic experience: All the instructors here are very knowledgeable, and what makes them special is that they explain the why in addition to the how. I feel confident on the road after these lessons, which has helped me secure my driver's license. Special mention to Mark, whose observation skills are amazingly sharp and accurate!
Fantastic experience: I took both my knowledge and road test with the 911 Driving School of Seattle and the ease and flexibility of everyone here is unparalleled. This was also the first time I was learning to drive and I took a 10 lesson pack with Charles. There are no words to describe how much of an excellent teacher Charles is. He groomed me from not knowing anything about driving to passing the test with flying colors in just 10 lessons. I am so grateful to him for making this so easy for me. He was always very explicit in his feedback, which made me learn when I made a mistake and boosted my confidence when I did something right. I specially liked that he took me to the freeway which instantly made me so confident about my skills. I would recommend this school and specially Charles to anyone who wants to learn how to drive :)
Fantastic experience: I had my first experience driving at this school. I was very stressed out but the instructor and the staff were very helpful and kind which helped me to get calmer. I love their old office and had so much fun every single time when I had driving class here. My instructor was amazing and always appreciated him and his supports. I would highly recommend this school. Thanks Charles(:
Fantastic experience: Took both the knowledge and driving tests here. Their process was pretty straight forward - I booked the tests online and showed up for the tests at the school. For driving test, I purchased the road test with warm-up package and was instructed/examined by Derek (whom I'd credit the 5 star review). He's a fun and knowledgeable person, and helped me feel a lot less anxious about the test. During/after the warm up, he explained my mistakes and how to correct those. Thanks to this, I did well on the driving test and he also made sure to explain where I lost points after the test. Overall, a great experience with the 911 school of driving Seattle and would recommend it to anyone looking to take the knowledge/driving tests.
Fantastic experience: The instructor was very cool and easy going I didn't even feel like I was on a driving test it felt like driving with one of my buddies. I also passed so shout out to 911 driving School they are the best
Fantastic experience: I scheduled my skills test with a warm up session with them. The instructor John was very nice and helpful in the warm up session. He gave very useful feedback. The warm up session helped me get away with my nervousness. Thanks!!
Fantastic experience: I took both my written and driving tests with 911 driving school. The staff here is friendly and makes your experience comfortable. Special shout out to my road test examiner Derek for making it feel like a breeze! We had a pleasant conversation which helped keep my nerves at bay :D Highly recommend 911!
Fantastic experience: I had both the knowledge and road test in this school. The staff were very professional and welcoming. This was a very positive experience. Especially, I would like to share my feedback about the instructor named Bill, with whom I had the road test today at the University Way testing location. I have had a great experience doing my road test with Bill. He was very professional. I would highly recommend Bill to anyone planning to do the road test. His calmness helped me focus on the road during the test and I felt very comfortable driving the car in his presence.
Fantastic experience: Got both my knowledge test and driving test done with these guys. Extremely professional all round and know exactly what needs to be done. The whole process was a breeze. Took the warm-up + driving test with Remy who was fantastic. He made me feel at ease during the warm up, I already knew how to drive but his advice during warm up gave me even more confidence. Fantastic experience all around, highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I loved learning all my lessons with Charles. He is very good with his techniques of teaching (very accurate, systematic and work always). Sometimes his statements might seem like taunts or intimidation, but they are not. He has a unique way of instilling that alertness that's always required when you drive on the road. This makes you a better driver and ensures safety of others on the road. I am so confident now that I can drive well, parallel park and back around corner any time. He is very fun to talk with too. He is considerate and will work with you on what you need. I found him to be really effective. I'm going to train with him for my freeway lessons soon.
