Fantastic experience: Both of our daughters have now taken their classes through DDS of Issaquah. We were very pleased and especially appreciated Isaac Kim. One finished in 2021 and the other, this year, 2024. His feedback was always extremely helpful after each drive. My older daughter insisted that my younger daughter take drives with him, when he was available. He has a great personality, very professional and takes the importance of safe driving extremely important. Thank you Isaac!!

Positive experience: it was good but there were just a lot of tests and my instructor was super strict on the test unlike other instructors but i liked the workbook overall was great

Positive experience: Overall I had a good experience with Defensive driving. I had my warm up and driving test with Erin. She was great and very calm especially while I was giving the test. I passed my test in first attempt. I was worried that the instructor is going to be rude but Erin surprised me. However, 5 class package I took before my test were ok. I had Issac as my instructor, he was good for the most part but only problem I had was learning to drive hand over hand while turning the steering wheel. Issac was very particular about hand over hand use which I was not comfortable with. And finally I never learnt it and I drive just fine

Fantastic experience: I have booked around 20 session to learn driving from scratch and my experience is great! Erin & Joshua are very nice and patient, and Issac is also kind while having high standard. Will definitely recommend, especially for the ones like me that have no idea of driving at first and wish to gradually learn and gain confidence in driving.

Fantastic experience: I had booked the 12 in-car 1 hour lesson and test package at the U District location. I started my lessons with little in-car driving experience since the pandemic. The online lesson video lesson was a great starting point, fun and interactive! I went from being driven to residential areas to get used to driving, to having all the confidence I needed to do full freeway driving. I passed my test today! A big thanks to Bryan, Kate, Ahmed, and the rest of the instructors. They were awesome at explaining not just the rules of the road, but the context that really helps new drivers make smart decisions in communication and navigating their space on the road. I knew I was in good hands.

Fantastic experience: My daughters just finished driving lessons with Issac Kim and he was fantastic. Very patient, great attention to detail, and made the girls feel comfortable. I went on many of the lessons and was impressed and learned a lot about helping the girls become good safe drivers. I highly recommend Issac.

Fantastic experience: Probably the best driving school you could do. Clay was the one who taught my classes and I found him to be enjoyable, he made the class engaging and interesting. The instructors who sit with you on the 5 drives are all super nice too. Customer service is also super fast 90% of the time. Issac Kim, one of the driving instructors is also a really funny guy. Makes the required drives more fun

Fantastic experience: Isaac was the best instructor I could ask for. He told me all the things I needed to fix about my driving but also gave me tips on how to fix those things. It wasn’t just going through the motions of driving with Isaac it was learning to be present and have a high level of awareness while driving. 11/10 would recommend him again. THANK YOU ISAAC!

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Isaac Kim and I had a great time learning to drive. Isaac focuses on driving fundamentals and is very observant. He takes time to explain what needs to be done and how to improve the skills. I was amazed with small driving etiquettes that I learned through the sessions. He is also very patient, friendly and thoughtful with good humor. We also did some mock tests at the end to understand the test structure and expectations. This really helps a lot. Highly recommend Isaac and Defensive Driving School.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a great experience with Isaac. His attention to detail, patience, and consistent coaching really set her up for success. I didn't know the best way to teach her how to get started on the highway, and Isaac just did the best job of teaching her how (and I got to listen in!). Highly recommend. Thanks Isaac! I would pay attention to deadlines and cutoffs for drives and testing. They are very strict.

Fantastic experience: This school is such a fun way to learn driving! I took the Zoom course with Clay and Vincent and they were so funny and nice, I'd recommend this class to anybody who wants fun teachers and good class experience.

Negative experience: One of the lady employees there had very bad attitude. We arrived 30 minutes before the exam and the door was locked. A lady then drove in and we sat outside to give her time to prepare. However, she still wouldn't let us in even 5 minutes before the exam although we knocked on the door (She saw and ignored us). Also, do not use their pre-exam warm up option. It is a waste of money. EDIT BASED ON RESPONSE: We did not ask for speaking with the examiner. We simply asked to come in and settle down before the exam. If you do not let people in before the exam, at least have some courtesy of telling us when we knocked on the door. Also, we scheduled another exam with another driving school, in which we talked to and went into the building 15 minutes before without any issue.

Fantastic experience: I had Isaac Kim for the majority of my lessons, as well as the WA state final driving test. He explained things very well, making it clear to understand. He also has a great sense of humor. I would recommend Isaac Kim as an instructor.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of meeting Isaac for both my knowledge test, 30 minute lesson and skills test. Happy to say I passed both first time and Isaac put me completely at ease both times. I highly recommend booking him for your skills test. Fantastic experience: After having relocated to the area I needed to get a Washington drivers license. I was recommended Defensive Driving School and I am very happy with my choice. I signed up for the digital prep course and it was a good way to prepare for the theoretical test which I passed on the first attempt. The school had plenty of time slots for both written and practical tests so I could have everything sorted within the mandated 30 days. The 30 minute warm up was great to prepare for the practical knowledge test. I can definitely recommend Defensive Driving School.

Fantastic experience: My son just finished his drivers ed with Defensive Driving in Issaquah and I am so happy, grateful and impressed with the lessons he received from Mr. Issac Kim. He was an incredible instructor who taught my son how to be a good, safe and aware driver. Fantastic experience: This was by far the best driving school that I have been to (and I have tried two other schools in the Greater Seattle area). All the people I encountered here were kind, calm, and helpful. I took the vast majority of my lessons with Isaac Kim. And like the other reviewers mention, he is a great instructor. He was patient, kind, and observant, and provided constructive feedback with a calm demeanor. He also offered several useful tips while driving, which I've found very useful. I also took my license test at this school. I had a good, stress-free, calm experience with the instructor who oversaw the test, Tyson Williams. I found the pre-test warm-up pretty useful as well.

Fantastic experience: I took lesson from Mr. Issac Kim few weeks ago. I must say he teaches really well !! I used to drive before as well with my instruction permit but after taking lessons from him, I feel more confident and under control while driving. Some of his statements like “ your eyes should be guiding your hands” are always at back of my mind while driving. His way of teaching is very unique wherein he will make you comfortable and thereby remove any driving fears. He is truly a gentleman. Way to go Kim!!

Fantastic experience: I had the most amazing and knowledgeable classes from Issac Kim at Defensive, Issaquah that I’d recommend him to anyone trying to learn driving and get the license. He’s an amazing teacher who understands his students well. I found every class I took with him to be so productive, he made me take different routes everyday, slowly easing me into more difficult situations. Fantastic experience: I have had two teenagers take lessons at two different driving schools in the Issaquah area so I’m in a good position to compare. I wholeheartedly recommend Defensive Driving School over the other nearby school (won’t name them) to anyone looking for a school. The best part was the behind the wheel instruction provided by Isaac Kim. My son took all 5 drives with Isaac and I observed from the back seat. In each drive, he was very thorough with instructions and gave reasoning for all explanations. He also took the time to illustrate on paper for the visual learners. The most impressive part was his ability to keep the lesson stress free by trying to make the students relax and provided lots of humor throughout the lessons. I am very happy with my decision to sign up at DDS and my only regret is not having had my daughter go here two years ago. The other school she attended made her feel so anxious that she left one drive crying. No need for that. Trust me, go to Defensive.

Fantastic experience: I signed up for 12 driving classes with Isaac Kim in Issaquah. It was a fantastic experience! Through October, he helped me gain confidence on the road and learn fundamentals quickly. Kim is easily one of the most memorable teachers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He will meticulously plan your learning path, including scheduling the best times to go driving for different scenarios. In just a few weeks, I went from driving in the Issaquah neighborhood to facing traffic in Seattle in the rain. I even learned parallel parking and reverse curb parking in just one practice run because of his clear communication. Kim’s patience with his students is incredible…he does not react negatively to mistakes like tensing up, even under pressure! I highly recommend Kim’s course.

The teaching staff are engaging, passionate, and truly care - all the staff I've encountered are helpful and kind. And then we met Mr. Isaac Kim. What a genuine gift to humanity. He helped my daughters build confidence and awareness behind the wheel with a unique kindness, patience, and humor. My daughters didn't want his lessons to end, but in a sense, they never really do, because he's a part of their subconscious now. Driving lessons with Mr. Isaac Kim are life lessons. Fantastic experience: Nothing but great things to say about Mr Isaac Kim and my experience with DDS. I am an experienced driver used to driving on the left side of the road but chose to take a package of 10 lessons to get used to driving in Washington (Right on red isn't really a thing where I was from). Mr Kim was amazingly supportive every step of the way and never once belittled me when I made mistakes or showed signs of boredom during lessons like driving instructors I had in the past. He always kept lessons light-hearted with his very wry sense of humour, and I always looked forward to lessons for that reason. He offered tips in very 'easy-to-remember' anecdotes, like, 'UP, UP, and AWAY' when parking UPhill, so that you'd remember to turn your wheels AWAY from the curb. It was a bittersweet moment when I passed my test on the very first attempt, as I will no longer get to drive with this very spirited personality in the passenger seat, who made driving all that less daunting :) Thank you, Mr Kim!

For my in-person driving lessons I had Isaac Kim for most of them and he made me feel less nervous through humor and was always supportive if I ever made a mistake or didn't know something.

Fantastic experience: When I decided to learn driving, I picked this school based on the Google reviews. I read a lot of good things about Mr. Isaac Kim. I am so glad I picked up this school. I took the 5 class package. When I started learning,  I knew almost nothing and was extremely scared to be behind the wheel but over the last year, I have become quite confident and I would say all credit goes to Mr. Kim. He has been most kind and patient with me,  answered even the most basic questions and guided to learn the right thing. He has really taught me well. I passed the test and have become more confident driver. Whenever I scheduled a class, I always made sure I had him as my instructor. Mr. Kim, I was lucky to have you as my teacher. Thank you very much for all the guidance.

Fantastic experience: Mr. Kim is a fantastic instructor. My twins went through the classroom, driving, and testing sections all with Mr. Kim. He was informative, thorough, and patient with both of them. I would highly reccommend Defensive Driving School of Issaquah and especially Mr. Kim!!

Fantastic experience: Issac is super helpful in getting me comfortable on the wheel! Really informative and nice instructor. He not only teaches me how to pass the test but also always reminds me how to safely drive on the road. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I can't praise Isaac highly enough for dedication to his students, professionalism, good communication and focus on safety. I also appreciate the extra effort Isaac takes to keep his classroom and cars clean and sanitized during COVID-19 pandemic. After a few lessons with Isaac my teenage son became more confident and observant on the road. I highly recommend Defensive Driving School Issaquah location.

Fantastic experience: I picked this driving school based on the reviews and I am so glad I did. I had an amazing experience learning how to drive. Mr Kim was my teacher, he is thoughtful, patient and kind. Not judgemental at all! I was worried and nervous to go to driving school, I am not a teenager and had a fear of highways. Honestly I wasn't sure I could ever drive. But all the work, encouragement and support I got from Mr Kim and the school (including scheduling folks that worked with me and accommodated my request) was so amazing. Now I am with a driver license, able to take my dog to park and vet on my own, and I can not be happier! Thank you Mr Kim for teaching me ☺️ I am very lucky to had you as my teacher.

Fantastic experience: I took a one hour class with the skills test combination with Mr. Isaac. It was a great experience. I was very nervous for the class, however Mr. Isaac was very patient and gave me many tips on how to crack the actual test. He made it a fun experience and also gave good feedback for the new/student driver to overcome our fear and drive better. I would definitely recommend defensive driving school and Mr. Isaac. Fantastic experience: My experience at DDS has been amazing and my instructor, Issac Kim, has been an amazing teacher who is helpful, fun, and just great to train with. I would highly recommend this course and if you can train with Issac then you’re pretty lucky!

Fantastic experience: Mr.Kim is an amazing instructor!! Took my adult driving test with him, with one hour practice. He's very helpful with his commentary and after a few minutes in the car all my anxiety melted away and I was able to pass! Also bonus he makes some pretty funny jokes!

Fantastic experience: I trained with Issac Kim at Defensive Driving School, Issaquah. It has been a tremendous experience for me. Issac is patient, thorough, keeps his calm at all times and makes it a fun learning experience. Fantastic experience: I took 5 driving lessons from Mr. Issac Kim. He is a wonderful instructor, very patient and gives you really good tips to pass your test. It was because of his guidance that I was able to pass my test at DMV in the first attempt. Thank you very much Mr. Kim!

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough about how awesome Issac Kim is! I took adult driving lessons with him and he really helped ease the stress of driving for me. Having my license, I still channel his funny puns and useful tips as I'm driving! Highly recommend
