You're absolutely right to notice how expensive the Defensive Driving class has become. 80% of the price is Court and State fees, 20% goes to the school.
Let’s break it down clearly:
Court and state Fee Growth Over Time
2008 court and state fees: $115
Current court and state fees : $214
Increase: $214 − $115 = $99 more
Percent increase: 99/115×100≈86%
So, the Court and State fees have nearly doubled in less than two decades.

I agree, the price is set by the courts not the schools. When I started this school back in 2007 the price for the course was $180 for the Justice Courts.
