University of Iowa Driving Safety Research Institute
The Driving Safety Research Institute at the University of Iowa is committed to enhancing road safety through extensive research on the interaction between humans and vehicles. Located within the College of Engineering, we house the National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS), serving as a hub for innovative studies sponsored by both public and private sectors.
Our mission addresses pressing road safety challenges by researching distracted driving, drug-impaired driving, and the development of automated driving systems. We collaborate with a wide range of organizations, from the automotive industry to government entities, to promote effective solutions that reduce accidents and improve the safety of all road users.
Through a focus on education and outreach, we invite the community to participate in our studies and learn more about our findings. Join us in our mission to make roads a safer place for everyone.
