Negative experience: They showed graphic videos of teenagers bodies on roads contorted and bloody, people in trees and hauling them into body bags. We were told we couldn't look away from the screen or we'd have to rewatch all of it again on a later day, and then they proceeded to laugh at how people reacted to the contents of the video. Talking to a friend who went to 911, those videos were not necessary to show and were overly graphic, and not allowing us to look away at points made it worse. The drives were scheduled so poorly as well, with a mass message sent out to everyone and everyone rushing to get evening or weekend availability or being stuck with morning/ afternoon. The teachers would either joke with students or belittle them, I was told by Sheri she was 100% sure I was gonna crash within the next year (I haven't, and became a better driver out of the class than in it). Along with this we were told incorrect information occasionally, told about gruesome deaths and events, and the teaching was very lackluster most times. Weather conditions or illness didn't matter to them, and you'd have to drive regardless. My final drive was in the dead dark and extremely foggy to the point most signs couldn't be seen easily yet had to keep going anyways. I don't expect to be babied through classes or drives, but I also don't expect to have to see a 17 year old contorted on the road in an almost circular position with where their head should be touching their legs. I don't expect to see someone being put into a body bag who's only a few months older than I am. I didn't expect to be told I would crash because of how anxious I drove, and from the experience I had it made me a worse driver than if I had genuinely just self taught. Driving after was difficult by myself, I was afraid of going too fast for fear I could be one of those teens on the road next. It took months to reprogram how I thought about driving and become more comfortable again before I could truly say I was confident. This class, despite its name, made me anything but confident. They pump out anxiety filled drivers from their teaching methods, if you have to send your kid to a driving school 911 is the best in miles. They actually care about the most recent laws and the mental of the people they teach.

Zion, thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the negative experience you feel you had and I am glad in the 2 years since taking our class you have become more comfortable driver. I would love to discuss your concerns with you further, but I’ll address a few of your comments here in hopes it will help you understand our motives for what we do.

We watch a video that was created and narrated by fellow teens who have had serious injury and fatal collisions. The teens involved in creating this video are hopeful that sharing their experience will make an impact on future teen drivers. We discuss the risk factors, speeding, impairment, friends in the car, etc., that lead to each scenario presented. I would like to clarify one point, we have never told our students that they cannot look away during a graphic scene. There is one scene where the hood of a vehicle is in a tree, which shows the force in which the vehicle hit the tree, but no people in the tree. Not all teens will drive with a high risk driving style, but teens represent a higher percentage of serious injury and fatal collisions. If the video and discussion can get even just one teen to reconsider a risky driving style, it is worthwhile. I understand it may be difficult to watch, that is not our goal. Helping to avoid future serious collisions is our goal in everything we do.

As for drives, you attended a class that started in September 2023, during the school year we drive 7 days a week and only have early afternoon, to accommodate students with a non-traditional school schedule, and evenings for those in traditional school and after school activities. We drive both Saturday and Sunday starting at 8:30am to 5:00pm. Yes, there can be a lot of competition for the most ideal times.

I’m confused about the statement that your final drive was in the dead of the dark, as our records show your final drive at 4:30pm.

We appreciate all feedback that helps us to improve our program. Please feel free to reach out to me, 360-690-5627, at any time if you would like to have additional discussion.

Wishing you a safe and happy future.

Negative experience: Spend the extra money and go to 911 driving. Confident driving school does not create Confident drivers. The instructors are rude, sarcastic, the make you feel less than, talk crap about the parents to the children. I wish I would have registered my daughter with 911 like my first but decided to go the cheaper route. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Fantastic experience: Mom here. David and Sherry are awesome, and very clear with expectations of both parents and teens from the start. Parents if you give your teen ample time to practice driving, your teen will do well in this course. Teens, if you attend the zoom calls, and actively listen, and practice driving you will do well. It’s really that simple. Don’t expect warm fuzzies during your drive time with David or Sherry. They are not going to inflate egos. They are there to tell your teen what to practice and provide feedback and instructions. For myself and my teen driver, we had a great experience. Things were clear, we knew what my teen needed to practice. I appreciated that communication was sent to the teens, and there was a lot of expectation put on the teens to clearly communicate. Life Skills. As a parent, my job is to ensure my teen is safe and making smart decisions behind the wheel when I’m not with him. Confident Driving helped my teen with the skills and knowledge to be the best driver possible.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We take the responsibility of developing new drivers' confidence, skill and attitude about driving, seriously. Thank you for choosing us for one of the most important stages of your teen's life.

Negative experience: Driving with them was the WORST experience of my life! Not even joking! On my very first drive, Sheri told me that I was going to fail the class because I was such a bad driver. Also, most of my drives with David were me being unsure of where to go, and he is eating food and scrolling on his phone. Classes were way too long and all the teachers talked about were their trauma and life issues. They showed my class a video of teens crashing and dying, and I 100% remember them saying we would all crash and die at some point in our lives. They really don't build confidence and made me so afraid of driving that I would cry every time I drove because they gave me a fear. Also, scheduling drives was terrible and they would not cooperate. Also when I took my state drive, they took me on a trick route instead of a normal road. They failed me. My class was 130 people, which is proof they only have this company for the money. Don't waste your money here. Literally go drive with anybody else, just not Confident.
