Fantastic experience: Great driving school with a professional and caring driving instructor. This driving schools offers flexible hours. As a working adult I was able to schedule driving classes in the mornings, afternoons and evenings which was perfect for my busy schedule. You practice all the maneuvers that appear on the driving exam and you get many tips on how to improve your driving. Even an hour before your exam you are able to practice and warm up with your driving instructor and he gives you many tips about the location that you are taking your exam so you are well prepared. Highly recommend practicing with this driving school.

Fantastic experience: Learning to drive as an adult driver felt intimidating at first but Peter completely changed that experience for me. From the very first lesson, he had a calm and encouraging approach that made me feel at ease. His teaching style is incredibly clear and structured, especially when it comes to maneuvers and I always knew exactly what to do and why, which made practicing much less stressful. He is patient, attentive, and gives practical tips that really stick. Scheduling lessons with him was also very seamless, he always responds quickly, and his system is so efficient! Peter also helped me stay calm and focused before my exam, which made all the difference. Thanks to his guidance, I passed on my first try. If you want an instructor who is knowledgeable and supportive, Peter is the one to go to!

Fantastic experience: In a time when most people are stressed out, Peter does everything he can to alleviate the anxiety of an RMV road test. He went above and beyond to squeeze us in last minute, even rearranging his entire schedule (and even skipping breakfast!) to make sure my wife could take her exam. He’s not only a true professional but also a calming presence when it matters most. I highly recommend Peter to any parent seeking lessons for their teen or any adult in need of classes or sponsorship. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. Fantastic experience: I had the best experience with beacon driving school. The instructor, Peter, was easy to communicate with, a great teacher, and very encouraging. I feel like some driving instructors can be super creepy and condescending but Peter was neither. It was nice to learn to drive with someone as calm and composed as he was. BDS offers at-home pick up and drop off for lessons as well as easy online scheduling. This was definitely the right driving school for me and I’ll definitely recommend it to younger friends and siblings! -Morgan :)

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Beacon Driving School for your teen driver! Peter is great with the kids, very patient and understanding of new drivers. He has years of experience and prepared our son very well for his driving test and to be a safe driver. He teaches them the rules of the road and the right way to drive, but also makes them aware of the realities of driving around Boston - not everyone knows and follows the rules! We will definitely call Peter when our daughter turns 16!

She just passed her test with his support and is now a licensed driver! Fantastic experience: Peter at Beacon Driving School is THE MOST PATIENT driving instructor on the planet. I will not go into detail to protect my child's privacy but let's just say that from beginning to end, Peter was the absolute best. Very kind, personable, informative, flexible, and AVAILABLE. Also, compared to other mom's stories about driving teachers in the area, he is PROFESSIONAL and APPROPRIATE. I never once worried about my daughter driving off with him. I am a child psychologist in the area and can attest to my anxious patients also having a very positive driving experience with Peter. He is great for anxious parents too! Fantastic experience: We have had such a great experience with Peter at Beacon. After all the horror stories I had heard about driver's Ed with other companies, I decided to try Beacon and I am so glad I did! Peter actually stuck to a schedule for the classes, attended them all and gave my daughter all the info she needed to pass the written test. Once on the road, scheduling was pretty easy, and she actually enjoyed her time in the car with Peter. She takes the driving test with him in a couple of weeks and I have no doubt that, with all his prep, she will pass easily. Highly recommend!

Peter showed us a simple method in our car that made it so much easier. It’s a technique my dad never taught me, and I really wish I had known it back when I took my driving exam. Fantastic experience: The best of the best! Anything from scheduling to his teaching style, he is one of a kind. He takes time to understand the student, and their fears or weak spots, and takes a personalized approach. If a student is scared of left turns, he would practice it till they feel at ease. He is extremely willing to go the extra mile like offering times and classes that are out of his regular hours, to accomodate needs. He is calm and professional which makes students feel at ease. He really tries to understand the learning style of the students and tries to incorporate them in his teaching on a case by case basis. He would draw on papers, he would put signs or stickers on roads, he would calculate the math and degree of turns and parks.. basically whatever a student needs, he will make sure to provide that. I would highly recommend him for any teen or adult. He is the best in the area.

Fantastic experience: I was dreading the driving school experience because I had heard stories about local driving schools having poor communication and scheduling issues. A friend recommended Beacon as her daughter had just started with them. We have had an excellent and seamless experience. The parent class was SUPER helpful and Peter is knowledgeable, helpful and great to work with. The online scheduling system is easy to use and navigate. Don’t think twice about signing up with Beacon! We will definitely use them again for our younger son.

Negative experience: Disappointing Experience with Peter – Unprofessional and Poor Communication I am extremely disappointed with the driving lessons my parents received from Peter. We initially chose him after discussing with him over the phone that my parents, who are over 40 years old and do not speak English, would need a translator (my husband) during the lessons. Peter agreed to this arrangement, and everything seemed to be going well after several lessons. However, when I reached out to schedule more lessons, Peter informed me that he would only offer two additional lessons for each of my parents and then suggested I find another driving school. When I asked him why he hadn’t communicated his difficulties sooner, especially if teaching my parents was problematic for him, he became defensive and rude. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, he abruptly canceled the last lesson and refused to continue any further lessons. What frustrates me the most is the lack of transparency and professionalism. If there was an issue with teaching my parents, it should have been addressed right from the start. Instead, after the initial lessons, Peter provided positive feedback and suggested we schedule more lessons. To suddenly change his stance without any prior warning, and then react angrily when I asked for clarification, was completely uncalled for. Peter’s communication was extremely poor, and his response to simple questions was dismissive and confrontational. It’s clear that he lacks the patience and professionalism needed to work with learners who may require extra support, particularly those over 40 or who don’t speak English. I would not recommend Peter as a driving instructor, especially for older learners or anyone requiring additional support.

Peter is responsive, organized, and, most importantly, had always been patient with and kind to my daughter. She has become a confident driver due to Peter’s guidance. And she passed her driving test on the first try. Can’t recommend Peter enough!

The owner/instructor, Peter LaFarge, is incredibly patient, supportive, easy to schedule with, and even comes to your home for your lesson! My daughter was able to go from never having driven (June) to passing her driver's test today after only 12 lessons---that speaks for itself!

Fantastic experience: We wanted a private, adult lesson and the instructor was kind enough to come to our home at the scheduled time. The instructor arrived on time and had no problems finding our home. The lesson was great and very helpful. He went over the main maneuvers expected during the road test and also made sure the little things, like checking the mirror, were being done. He was very patient with an non-native English speaking student. The lesson went a bit over an hour to make sure that we were comfortable and got everything we needed.

Fantastic experience: I chose Beacon Driving School and Peter to help my son get ready for his road test with the RMV. He is a great driver but was very nervous about the test. Peter was patient and extremely kind in assisting him overcome his anxiety about the test. He taught him how the test would go and practiced real life test maneuvers. My son passed the test and the smile on his face was the best thing ever! I don't think we could have done it without Peter and we will be back with my younger son!

Fantastic experience: I passed the road test on my 4th try. Beacon driving school is the reason why I was finally able to, they made the difference between my first 3 tries without them and the final, successful try. Peter was patient, understanding, very calm, and put things into simpler terms that were easy to understand and recall when doing maneuvers like parallel parking and the 3 point turn. He was also incredibly responsive to any emails, texts, or other communications, and was very flexible with appointments and was able to get me in quickly. A night and day better experience than other driving schools in the area, I’d give beacon 6 stars if I could

Fantastic experience: Peter specifically is a great teacher and kind person. He’s helpful and explains everything you need to know in detail, with a lot of awesome tips that have definitely made me a more confident and overall better driver. I highly recommend this place. I know that a lot of driving instructors can be somewhat intimidating, but that’s not the case here. Do yourself a favor and get some lessons :)
