We take pride in our work and prepare students for various situations and would not put anyone in harm’s way. Their safety is number one priority. On occasion students do participate by filling the gas tank which takes less than 5 minutes. During this time we discuss fuel mileage and how to calculate along with the reasons. There are many students that have never filled a tank before nor knew how to calculate mpg and the reasons of calculating. All students do receive highway time. When a student is uncomfortable and not able to maintain a constant speed of 35-40mph, I will not put them or others at risk. As part of the learning process, students have limitations and comfort levels and we would try again at another lesson, which we did. When students are picked up at home (and live a distance out like your son) and they are about the 6th or 7th student driving, there are times that a lesson may be pushed back a few minutes like your son’s was. That day there were other students ahead of him that were delayed for various reasons such as road construction, farm machinery on the highway, or the prior students were late to their lesson. I texted your son at 1pm to let him we would be there between 1:15-1:30 (his appointment was to pick up at home between 1-1:15) we pulled in at 1:20. He was picked up 5 minutes after the original time frame. He still received all his drive time. If you had a concern you could have reached out prior to the end of his completion.
