Arvada Driving School - now a part of Coastline Academy: Reviews
Negative experience: Do not purchase the 6 hours of driving with your class. They expire after one year and if you're signing up for the class you're likely a year and a half out. We had to purchase the driving part twice.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Jonathan. It is correct that our driving lesson packages include a one-year expiration from the date of purchase, which is outlined in the enrollment agreement all students review at sign-up. That said, we understand that scheduling may sometimes extend beyond that timeframe, and we are often able to provide extensions if/when requested.
We’d be happy to review your situation directly. Please reach out to us at1-800-489-1896 and ask for Paige or Ashley so we can review what options are available to make this right for you.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with this driving school, it was exactly what I was looking for. My instructors, Karri, Ladean, and Nancy, were clear, direct, and very supportive. Thanks to them, I feel much more confident and comfortable behind the wheel. I would definitely recommend this school and would come back if I ever need more lessons!
Bianca, thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re so glad to hear that your experience was exactly what you were looking for, and we’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Karri, Ladean, and Nancy. They’ll be so happy to know they made a difference. It’s great to hear you’re feeling more confident behind the wheel! We’d be glad to have you back anytime. Safe driving!
Negative experience: We signed up our 15 year old when it was Arvada Driving school and they got bought by Coastline. Coastline is terrible. It's really hard to schedule driving sessions. You can't make updates online and have to call them. It gets routed to a national call center with no local knowledge. I would look elsewhere for driving lessons.
 Thanks for your feedback.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. While our support team does consist of individuals located in all 9 state we service, any support member you connect with in a phone call is trained to assist with Colorado-specific requirements, including those in Arvada. We understand scheduling can sometimes be frustrating, and we are always open for feedback on how we can improve to make the process easier for families. If you or your student do still need assistance in scheduling services, please feel free to reach out via text at 1-800-489-1896 with ATTN to Paige: I hope to have the opportunity to better support you moving forward.
Negative experience: Purchased our package under Arvada driving school. They were soon purchased by coastline. We have been very unhappy so far. They tried to force us to purchase additional driving lessons, saying that their policy was different than Arvada driving school and that our package expired. As we tried to schedule my daughter’s final road test, the facility changed her appointment saying that they were closed for two weeks for a state audit. So she now has to wait a couple of weeks. Her instructor told her that we could schedule an appointment at another driving school and coastline would cover the final road test fee, but they have refused to do so. The instructors are friendly, but the school has gone downhill, unfortunately. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere.
Hi, Jason. We're so sorry for the miscommunication. It seems that the wrong thing was said about covering the cost of a test at another school. You're right—us being closed for two weeks put a burden on our students, and we're sorry for that.
We try to do our best every day to provide the community with a stress-free experience, and we fell short here. We're making some meaningful improvements to our operations in the very near future, and we're optimistic that this won't happen again. Thank you for your time.
Negative experience: Impossible to schedule anything. When things did get scheduled they were canceled. This place has caused nothing but problems and I'm aiming to take my drivers test elsewere. Avoid this driving school if at all possible because it sucks.
 Hi Jessie,
Thank you for choosing us to provide your student with six hours of driving instruction. We're sorry we couldn't schedule the road test on a suitable date, but we’ve processed a refund for the test we were unable to arrange.
If you need any assistance in the future, please feel free to reach out directly and ask for Paige.
Fantastic experience: Great place highly recommend
Thank you, for your 5-star review Matthew
Fantastic experience: I have had 2 sons go through them and get their licenses. All the lessons seem to have gone well and the boys learned what they needed to. I did have an issue with waiting for lessons with my second son's lessons. I was told the classes had expired. But Coastline made it right in the end and my son completed his lessons and test. All the same, be cognizant of expiration dates if you are going to do something like make your son get their eagle before getting their license.
 Thank you, Randi.
We are pleased to hear your overall experience was positive and your sons were able to benefit from the driving lessons. We are certainly flexible and are always happy to work with families when it comes the credit expiration policy, and we are very glad to hear that we were able to resolve any concerns.
Thank you for your 5-star review.
Positive experience: Edited to add....Coastline reached out and rectified the situation. They actually offered more than what I asked and paid for. Thank you, Coastline! Absolutely horrible business!!!! I paid $600 in May of 2022 to arvada driving school for my sons lessons. I paid for classes at 14 1/2 as well as 6 hours of behind the wheel training and his driving test. I have since learned that a rescheduled appointment came at a cost of $159 additional!!! Never have I been told that i would be charged for a rescheduled appointment. And I've spoken to several representatives as well as 2 instructors since then. The people at coastline have refused to send me documents stating that i agreed to this absurd reschedule fee. This business is very unprofessional and deceptive!!! I do not recommend putting your money into this business, especially since the whole process is a very long one.
 Hi Aimee,
We appreciate you reaching out and allowing us the opportunity to make it right! We were able to schedule your son's remaining lesson at no additional cost to you as well as discuss potential road test times for him for a future date.
Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything more we can do to best support you and your son.
Negative experience: I almost t-boned a student driver this morning because they were instructed to illegally turn in front of me. I entered the parking lot where the school is and had the right of way. An instructor had a student turn in front of me (coming from my right and turning left in front of me). I threw my hands in the air and the instructor did the same back to me! He was in the wrong and is teaching people incorrectly!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Becca.
Fantastic experience: A good deal for the money, but--more than that--the instructors were all kind, encouraging, and helpful! We had four daughters go through their program and highly recommend it!
Thank you, Elizabeth!
Negative experience: So disorganized. They watch videos and take 10 breaks throughout the 8 hours. They tell you they will mail you stuff but never do. The kids had 1 class and at the beginning of 2nd class they made them take the permit test. Set up for failure
We're sad to hear this was your experience.
Negative experience: Saw one of their instructor on the phone while teaching some kid!! Bad example!!
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We take safety seriously.
Fantastic experience: A one stop shop for getting a driver's license. I paid for the gold package and was very happy with the level of service, especially during a pandemic. Driving tests are no longer administered by the DMV so let this school take care of all the details.
Thanks, Chris!
Positive experience: Educational and great teachers, but can be boring at times. Other than that, I would recommend!
If you have any feedback for how we can make things more engaging, please let us know!
Negative experience: I'm sorry to say that I regret having my son go to this school, and especially that we went with the in-person option. The 8-hour sessions are a series of quiet time to read, watching videos and doing worksheets or quizzes. There was lot of "down time" and, from what I can tell, very little interaction between the instructor and the students. We did not do the "behind the wheel" (BTW) part, so I cannot speak to that. If I could go back and do it again I would probably look elsewhere, or choose the online version (which would require half as many hours of my son's time).
Jeff, thank you for sharing your concerns. Although we can't change your experience, we can use it to improve our services going forward.
Fantastic experience: Excellent experience with everyone
Yay, Jerrie! Thank you for the kind review.
Fantastic experience: Staff was amazing. Very friendly and easy to get along with. The instructor i had on my test was very easy to drive with.. Would definitely recommend this place!
We're glad you had a great experience with us.
Negative experience: They treat students like inconveniences. The “Instructors” are either rude or don’t give any instruction at all. A joke of a school.
We're sorry to hear about your experience. We appreciate you voicing your concern and will address them.
Negative experience: I had the pleasure of following a student and teacher from the school all the way up lookout mountain road. It was extremely questionable that the teacher had a student driver who could barely handle a car driving up a mountain road in a thick heavy fog with very low visibility. Poor choices aside, the teacher clearly was giving the student little or no direction on how to actually drive. The student was breaking in nearly every turn and swerving all over the road. A little bit of minor instruction could easily correct that behavior and help that person be a good driver, but instead the teacher would rather just sit there and get nauseous while allowing this person to go out and endanger themselves and other people.
Thank you for voicing your concerns.
Fantastic experience: I wasn't taught how to drive at this location. All I have heard from people is that their cars are really slow and small. It could be just me, but kids nowadays want the newest, best, and fastest. Which makes sense why car insurance is through the roof.
Fantastic experience: This place gets teenagers...I have heard the classroom part is a little boring, but you could always do it online. For the BTW lessons, I can't give enough shout outs--easy online scheduling, will pick up and drop off your kid at their school, your home (if you live in the very large pick up area), or the school. Here is the best part, they send a TON of reminders starting a few days before the lesson (because they get teenagers). In addition to the email reminders they called my kiddo. When it came to her driving test--again, email reminders including what she needed to bring. Then the night before the instructor called her talked about the test and made sure she knew exactly what she needed to bring both for the test and the DMV after. Then on the day of, a detailed email to the parent with the same info. I think most of the instructors are teachers or have other jobs so you can't always get them by phone during the day AND if you email you will have a response before you know it. Highly recommend Arvada Driving School!
Thank you for the recommendation!
Positive experience: Kinda spotty on picking up the phone and when their hours are but besides that decent people
The Instructor went to the student's house, the student was at Arvada Driving School. Lesson was delayed, went from 3:45-5:45pm.
Negative experience: Disappointing! A little deceiving, they don't care to take your money, later to find out they have a "Pick Up Area" no where on the website or on the paperwork my grandson received after taking his 32 hours class, talks about their "Pick Up Area", as a matter of fact that paperwork says "we will pick you up from your home" NOT TRUE! Nobody cared to let us know when we registered if we were ok having to take my grandson to the school to get his driving lessons. I think that is deceiving. I wouldn't recommend this place!

Fantastic experience: After an incident with a group of cyclists and one of the school ‘s instructors, the owner, Ben, took steps to make things right, including additional training for his driving instructors around Share The Road laws. Mistakes happen. How we choose to respond, learn, and grow from them matters. The owner of this school took real action and it is SO appreciated! Kudos, to Ben!
Thank you for your understanding, Helen.
Negative experience: If you want to learn how to road rage and ignore the law this is the place to go. I used to certify CDL instructors and I would fire an instructor who behaved as unprofessionally and unsafely as the one who was reported to the Arvada police and Jeffco sheriff. That instructor was pounding on windows and screaming at bicycle riders all while insisting that the poor student ignore the 3 foot to pass law.
The Instructor involved in the incident resigned his position 2 days after the incident.
Fantastic experience: They help me get my license when I was 17 years Old I appreciate them..
Negative experience: You guys need to “educate” your instructors how to share the road with cyclist. Believe it or not there is real Colorado laws in place regarding just this. Look it up!
The Instructor involved in the incident resigned his position 2 days after the incident.
Fantastic experience: Arvada driving school has been wonderful Ben the owner has helped me a lot thank you so much.
Thank you, Gaven!
Fantastic experience: Get done at your own pace.
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Quick and simple.
We appreciate your review!
Positive experience: Thank you for simple. Easy to understand.
Thank you for choosing us!
Fantastic experience: Arvada Driving is simply the best driving school in the state. They show true passion for making sure their student drivers are well educated about the law and best driving techniques. I've looked around at many of the other schools and even attended Drive Safe, all they cared about was getting my money. When I took the test at Arvada, the instructor told me they wouldn't take my money if I failed! Awesome right there! The instructor was so amazing and encouraging during my test. Thanks again Arvada Drive!
