I am writing to address the concerning circumstances surrounding your recent driving test appointment with Steamboat Driving School (SDS).

Upon arriving at the appointment, you did not have a valid permit, and your vehicle was not equipped with an Interlock device, which is a prerequisite for most applicants seeking to reinstate their license following a DUI conviction. Additionally, you lacked knowledge of the reinstatement process and requirements.

Furthermore, the confirmation email sent to you nine days prior to the appointment explicitly stated that a permit was necessary. SDS’s website also stipulates that “It is the customer’s responsibility to be aware of the requirements to be eligible to test.” Additionally, applicants with a “Restricted Permit” are required to conduct the driving test in their own vehicle equipped with a functioning Interlock or Smart Start Device.

When SDS inquired about the necessity of a permit, you exhibited significant distress and agitation. I calmly explained that I was unable to conduct a driving test without a valid permit. As my vehicles are not equipped with an Interlock device, your vehicle would be required to be driven for the test. At this juncture, you became highly hostile, and I considered contacting law enforcement due to your irrational behavior and belligerence. Asking you to depart was motivated by my own safety and well-being.

It is important to note that SDS did not collect any payment from you. There was no electronic exchange of payment for your test. SDS did not receive any Zelle payment, nor did SDS need to refund a payment that was never sent.
