160 Driving Academy of Monroe

Negative experience: I started this school with hearing nothing but good things from everyone in the company. I paid the full amount up front, got absolutely no information from my point of contact, started the online schooling, after i was told a different start date than my contract stated. I then started on the correct date. I finished that got my medical card and permit which i reached out and got no response on my next step. I then found the yard in tannersville which i had no information on what or where to go from anyone. I get there just to find out i’m on a wait list which i was not informed of. And now i have to wait a minimum of 3-6 weeks to start my yard training. This school seems like a severe scam to me and i would not recommend it to my worst enemy. Absolutely terrible experience..

Negative experience: Honest review first Morgan is very nice and caring however the instructors are not. Ed the instructor manager walks around doesn’t take people out you are in a class 4 weeks he takes you 2 times only for 15 mins. John is great trainer but he doesn’t know how to deal with certain students that have learning disorders he should be more understanding. Dan is ugh ok but he doesn’t take you out a lot just in a lot backing up and down. Jim if he would get off the phone and try to actually teach people would be great all he talks about is the toys he has and on the phone and he doesn’t go out at all just his students backing forward and backwards all day. Gary is blessing great person. And this school is not accredited. Roehl trucking doesn’t accept this school as a school so you cannot get a job with them. Only option is Swift that will hire you. They need better instructors one’s who actually care about the student. Remember students pay you to teach them not just take the money and it’s not cheap. All that money and 4 weeks I had instructions for only 4 days out of the 4 week period pasted and learned all buy myself because I was left in an automatic truck because I couldn’t get down the manual part and was left with no instruction just left on the truck to go backwards and forwards for 3 weeks I trained myself. And passed myself first try. I thank Myself on how to drive a truck.

It’s not just about passing a test — it’s about learning how to do this job the RIGHT WAY. And I capitalize that because this career is no joke. The responsibility we take on behind the wheel is real, and 160 prepares you for it fully. Out in the yard, I was fortunate to be trained by three incredible instructors: Ed, Dan, and John. Each of them brings something unique to the table, but together they represent the gold standard of what CDL instruction should be. They don’t just teach you how to operate a truck — they teach you how to think like a professional driver. Whether it was the mechanics, the road awareness, or the daily habits that keep us and others safe, every lesson had a purpose. For me personally, Ed was my instructor throughout the full three weeks. Some days everything clicked — the truck felt like an extension of me. Other days, it didn’t go as smoothly. But that’s where the real value came in. Ed created a space where it was okay to make mistakes — as long as you learned from them. He reminded us that no matter what happens, the rules of safe driving never change. That mindset carried me through the ups and downs. Before scheduling yard training, make sure they can get you in with an instructor that you can stay with the full three weeks. My instructor was Dan. Can’t t recommend them enough and also the fact they are the only school around that still train using manual transmissions. Fantastic experience: I signed on to 160 not knowing what to expect. I've heard crazy stories about CDL schools and how they just want to push people through. This was not the case. The staff here, Nick, Jim, Ed, Dan, and John all truly want to make sure that you get the proper skills and succeed!!! The staff are not going to simply push you through. You're gonna work for your CDL and develop your skills. And that's a good thing! If you want to get your CDL , and you're serious about it. Give 160 Tannersville a call. He deserves more than 5 stars His patience and compassion for what he does, makes this training a life changing experience. Don't get me wrong, it takes a lot of hard work in a short period of time. Positive experience: Amazing instructors! The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that the course was supposed to last 5 weeks, but I had to wait almost 4 weeks just to get my practice schedule, making the whole course 8 weeks long. P.S. Dan is the best instructor at 160 Academy NCC Campus!

Fantastic experience: In December never thought I’d see myself going for a B license let alone an A Cdl, circumstances for my business changed temporarily loosing the only Cdl driver we had so I decided to give it a try to get My Cdl license which would even help our business even more. Learning how to drive a tractor trailer in itself was challenging let alone in a 10 speed manual one. I really would like to thank my instructor John. John really loves his job working and teaching students, he has a heart of gold and patience of a Staint! I learned so much from John and the other instructors Ed and Dan while I was there. I recommend anyone who is looking into schooling for truck driving to call this school because they aren’t going to treat you has a number but a person and make sure that only your best comes out while learning how to drive! Fantastic experience: I own a construction company and had been looking into getting my CDL for a while to save on transportation costs for equipment. One of my biggest setbacks was usable time. 160 made the process quick and painless while working around specific issues that come with running a business. Whether it was taking time to talk to a customer, coming in late, or having a to take a day off all together. All the guys there were exceptional. More than anyone I'd like to personally thank my instructor, John. He went above and beyond to make sure we were prepared for our test. Seeing him get flustered with someone was a rare occurrence but if it happened, you knew there was absolutely zero malice in it. It is because he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Teachers tend to forget what it was that made them want to teach, he will never have that problem. In today's world, that's a rare trait and I have a lot of respect for him bc of it. Another individual I'd like to acknowledge is my examiner Gary. I only had brief interactions with him but in that time I gained a vast amount of respect. I was nervous in the beginning of my test thinking I was going to miss a gear or make some other dumb mistake but within the first two minutes of talking to this gentleman my nerves were at ease. At the end of my test he asked if I minded waiting a few minutes so we could talk. After that conversation I realized I should have been the one asking for his time. Both of these guys are a wealth of knowledge and I'm thankful for their patience and time. The only other advice I can give is that if Dan walks in front of your truck beep your horn. It's going to scare the sh$t out of him and be funny as h3ll.

Fantastic experience: Best place in Pennsylvania to learn how to drive trucks hands down. The courses were very well laid out and easy to understand. On the yard my main instructor was Dan and he was the best instructor on the yard in my opinion. However no matter who you get paired with they will give you the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in your next chapter of life.

Fantastic experience: I'm a recent graduate of the academy at the Tannersville location. I must say...they do live up to their reputation as one the best. Morgan was very helpful in answering all my questions and he was helpful while giving me every tool that I needed from the beginning. The classroom course was very detailed and it surely helped me to pass my permit exam. Once I passed my permit exam and moved forward to yard training, my experience from the beginning up until the day that I passed my pre-trip test, skills test, and road test was one that I will never forget. I will always cherish it. Going into the yard was a brand new experience for me - I had never operated a tractor trailer in my life. Knowing the components of the vehicle, getting my skills down-pat, and driving the truck on the road itself was all foreign to me. Although I worked with each instructor a little bit, I worked with Jim the most. I can see why Jim holds the position of being the lead instructor - that man really knows what he's talking about. He had to be hard on me a few times, but it paid off in the end. He always told me to "breathe." He also told me that nerves are your biggest enemy in the truck. He was right - once I was calm and comfortable behind the wheel, it was like I had been an experienced driver and knew what I was doing and talking about. I'd like to give a major shout-out to Jim, John, Gary, Ed, and Dan for all teaching me in their own way, but with a level of patience, compassion, and confidence in me. And...I cannot forget, a major shout-out to Morgan for all that he does and how he helped me in my journey. He even believed in me when I was lacking confidence in myself and allowing my nerves to overcome me. They all believed in me and they believed and continue to believe in everyone else who walks in through their door. Fantastic experience: I went threw the program to get my cdl and I honestly have nothing bad to say about my whole experience. When I was originally trying to get into the course morgan was nothing but helpful on what I needed to do....I had so many questions that he always made time to answer for me. The actual driving portion was my absolute favorite part. I had Jon as my instructor and he was always very detailed, oriented and made sure we were always learning the correct way so when we passed and actually got.our cdls we would be successful. He was an absolute delight to have and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better mentor.... I passed my cdl yesterday one and done and I just want to say thank you so much for everything. I would absolutely recommend 160 to anyone that wants to get there cdl.

Fantastic experience: One of the greatest experiences and investments of time in my life. The course was challenging, exhilarating and rewarding. I almost didn’t want it to end. Not only were the teachers there amazing at their jobs but the other students I encountered were great people and I am still in communication with all of them. I attended 160 having no prior experience to driving a manual transmission vehicle and by the end of my 3rd week in the yard, I aced my road examination in a double clutch, 10-speed 48 foot flatbed 18 wheeler lol. Unbelievable. Throughout the course you find this confidence in yourself you never knew you had and the teachers definitely help to bring that out in you. They remain calm and informative even while you’re struggling to figure it out because in the beginning of my course I was so bad at clutching and I would constantly stall the truck. I even questioned whether or not it was for me. But the teachers believed in me. I wish I could do it again. One other thing… I do not strike anybody I meet as a ‘trucker’ type of person so I tell them all the time, if I can do it anybody can do it.

It’s on every one court day is set for my suit against this school based in Chicago who has dubious ways of cheating people out of their state of Pa funded tuitions.On January 19th I will be destroying them and their lawyers in Tannersville district court.Follow it person through the local new or social media.But don’t miss it!!!!

Fantastic experience: Words can't explain what great place this facility is. They are amazingly friendly supportive and extremely easy going and of course patient. They will first give you an evaluation which only cost 100$ and from there they will tell you how many hours or classes you need. These are real people with real driving school. You will learn on new trucks under 3 years old manual transmission. GIVE THEM A CALL!!!!
