Austin Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Not only is it next to impossible to get them on the phone when we drove over there they were still closed to lunch almost and hour later than they said. And when we did get in the receptionist rolled her eyes and sighed at us.
Negative experience: Really regret signing our daughter up here. They are so overbooked with students that it takes over a month to get her in for a single driving lesson. Her first lesson they didn't even let her drive because they had overbooked it so she just had to watch other students. Calling the corporate office I was informed that they don't share resources with other locations, so if we wanted to get her into another location for a driving lesson we wouldn't be able to get her scheduled at the old location anymore. I strongly urge looking at other driving schools that let you schedule at multiple locations. Our daughter has been "going" to this driving school for almost six months and still barely understands how to drive because there are so few lessons available. As for the instructors, her classroom instructor was nearly always late. We also had a payment issue with the corporate office that they never resolved, we had to go around in circles for weeks and eventually just gave up. This place is a mess
Fantastic experience: Great interaction with office staff and instructor/evaluator. We did the test only and went very well. Mr Reyna was a great evaluator for my son and provided feedback after.
Fantastic experience: We are very thankful with everyone at Austin Driving School Huebner Location. Mr Reyna, Samantha and all the instructors are great. They are very professional and courteous. I currently have my 2 daughters as students and we are extremely happy and satisfied with the results. They are really learning how to drive responsibly. If your kid does not pass the test at 1st or 2nd attempt, it's because the kid is not ready. They have the big responsibility of put knowledgeable and responsible people behind the wheels.
Fantastic experience: The employees here are so helpful in navigating the DPS process for new drivers. My advice is to have your teen do their lessons and drivers ed here vs. the parent-led option. It’s so much easier and I feel more confident with my kids behind the wheel.
Fantastic experience: My family's experience with this location of Austin Driving School was fantastic. We did not know how to navigate the various requirements for our student driver and the school provided the classroom and on-the-road experience my son required to be a strong new driver. Some folks may get frustrated that you have schedule one lesson at a time, but when you see the sheer volume of drivers they serve it makes sense to limit it so everybody has a chance to get their lessons scheduled. The staff is friendly and encouraging and they make every effort to make sure students are successful. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
Fantastic experience: Всё прошло, как по маслу! Крайне рекомендую эту школу, молодцы!
Fantastic experience: I took my test with Mr Reyna, and it was great. He was very informative and nice, and he answered all of my questions. I saw some bad reviews on this location, but in my experience, it was great!
Fantastic experience: Used it twice. Great instructions and people. Very happy with their service. Huebner Rd Location in San Antonio.
Fantastic experience: My daughter took the 4 week driving course and then 6 months later tested with Mr. Reyna. The course was engaging for my teen. After each class we would have great conversations about was covered. The course and driving and observation hours that went along with it gave my teen confidence and laid a great foundation for her driving knowledge, skills, and awareness. The testing day was efficient and came with great feedback. My daughter was nervous and Mr. Reyna answered all of her questions and gave her great feedback. The office staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the process. The schedule worked around ours - with evening and weekend options.
Fantastic experience: Signed up my son for driver's education!!
Negative experience: Mr Reyna seemed to want to fail my son to get us to pay again to retake the test. Took off points (-7) for turning left too slow, and a few other odd things. He failed him by 1 point. We declined to pay again. My son went to the state and passed easily. Much better and less expensive experience. I’d recommend avoiding this business.
Austin Driving School would love for every one of our testers to pass, which is why we provide two attempts when you pay to test with us. Our examiners are teachers first, and never wish to fail anyone who takes their road test with us. Unfortunately, not everyone will pass within their two attempts. We do grade based off of the criteria set forth by the Department of Public Safety. Our goal is always to provide detailed feedback after each failed test, so that whether you re-test with us, or at a DPS office, you will pass. We apologize if you had a negative experience with us, but we are glad to hear your son passed his exam, and obtained his license.
Fantastic experience: To preface this: I have anxiety, and nervousness behind the wheel. I was anxiously dreading having to deal with an instructor who I wasn't going to enjoy being around, However, I was pleasantly surprised most thoroughly by the instructor I had. My Instructor was Ms. Andrea, She was a wonder of a teacher, and was super kind/respectful which helped my anxiety along with making me enjoy learning from my classes. I also must say that any negative reviews that you see must've gone to a different place because I had no disrespectful behavior or issues whatsoever. My exam handler Mr. Reyna was calm, professional, and patient. I honestly couldn't of asked for a better/more respectful or professional experience. They were both fantastic, and I whole heartedly recommended this place for learning how to drive or just becoming more comfortable behind the wheel. 10/10 Communication, Professionalism, Respectfulness, and Patience.
Fantastic experience: I love it! the instructor super nice. I would highly recommend them to my friends and Colleagues.
Fantastic experience: After a pretty terrible experience at DPS, we brought my son here for an hour of practice driving and then his driver’s test immediately following. At DPS it was stressful and cold. Here, it was peaceful and they put my son at ease. I recommend any parents bring their kids here to practice and test!
Fantastic experience: We did parent taught driver’s education with all 3 of our children. For the last 2 we used Austin Driving School for the final Behind the wheel driver’s test. I cannot recommend them more! With COVID limiting the availability of appointments at the DMV, this made this opportunity even more appealing. Both of my sons testing with Austin Driving School had positive experiences and they even made our appointment at the DMV to go get the license. They reviewed all paperwork and made sure we had everything in order after the test to have an easy trip to the DMV. Thank you for your excellent customer service! I highly recommend!!!
Negative experience: Horrible instructors (especially Mr. Reyna)! They had a very condescending and insulting behavior. They had zero patience for new and nervous drivers. They charged me for seven classes but only scheduled 3, and did not give me a refund. They schedule drives one month apart. I would not recommended this school for anyone.
Hi, I am sorry to hear about your experience. Can you please contact me to provide more information 512-280-4499, or [email protected]
We do have availability for driving appointments much more frequent than 1 month.
We will gladly refund any tuition that was not used with our school.
Monica Reyna
Fantastic experience: 1000% Recommend, they are very patient people and taking driving lessons with them are really fun and helpful.
Thank you for your 5 stars Carlos, we appreciate your review.
Negative experience: driving instructor is bad
Fantastic experience: I was an inexperienced driver before I attended this place. With their help, I learned how drive very well,& even go on a freeway! DPS road test was amazing and passed the first time. This place is wonderful, and I’m greatful for what the staff have done for me!
Fantastic experience: We experienced great customer service; very nice and helpful with scheduling a driving test. Appointment was on time. Polite staff reduced stress for me and more importantly, my child. Very fair with test. Gave us constructive feedback on things our new driver should continue working on. Granted this place is uber busy and it seems people are calling nonstop, but we got exactly what we needed. Honestly, I’m very surprised by the negative reviews. That was not our experience at all. Very positive and would definitely recommend.
Negative experience: This place should be called the "NOT" driving school! I called to enroll my son in the driving portion of the program since he completed the 32 hour classroom instruction online. What I was told is that right now they are only scheduling drives about once a month. Process that for a minute, once a month. A teen will not even retain what they learned by utilizing a once a month drive. Furthermore, it would take 7 or more months to finish 7 hours of drive time! INCREDIBLE I asked about private lessons, but was told it would be the same-once a month. I called corporate to find out why this office either A) took on more clients than they can handle or B) insist on keeping fewer instructors to keep profits high? Because if this business was being run in an efficient manner, this wouldn't be an issue. Additionally, while speaking to the corporate office I was told that teens could not utilize the private lesson method. Since my review is not the only review regarding scheduling, this is can be seen as an ongoing business practice and not an anomaly. If you have a teen that needs driving lessons, save yourself frustration and aggravation and look elsewhere. We are a military family and I can say that in Georgia (where we PCS'd from) the driving schools were fabulous and our daughter had scheduled lessons twice a week, one-on-one with an instructor. This is shameful.
Negative experience: Worst experience I can imagine. I was given incorrect information over the phone, was told (and paid) the wrong amount, and now I can't get any driving appointments. I was told, "Everyone makes mistakes." This is true, but good businesses make it right. The mistakes ADS made has caused my daughter to not be able to start driving practice for over a month (and counting). I am still currently waiting to get an appointment. The secretary said she would call me when appointments open. This did not happen. I was told to call at 9AM. They are closed. I called and left messages. No response. How do they not know the driving schedule for the next week? Poorly run business at best, but they know they have zero competition and don't seem to care. I have paid hundreds of dollars and still NO driving lessons. NEVER AGAIN. I will drive across town for my next child to take lessons elsewhere. I can't comment on the instructors.
Negative experience: very bad customer service by front desk , just wanted us tosign a contract without giving us any info regarding the school and all the hidden rules , please get all info before signing its a scam , girl name andy was very rude and kept saying sign the contract and its the best school in san antonio ,, be aware
Fantastic experience: Richard is an amazing teacher ! Very satisfied customer!
Negative experience: It’s 9:20am just got off the phone with a short and snapping women. I have no reason to give a customer or potential customer a attitude. I had asked about obtaining hardcopy drivers handbook, I didn’t know that’s wasn’t possible. could have been nicer, and told that information in a more polite way. Look we all get busy but learn some manners on the phone, it’s embarrassing to your company!
Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying that I had been struggling to get my license for about two years for a number of reasons. The person I had been learning from previous to seeking a such driving school wasn't the best teacher.Once their car didn't pass inspection. We were late once. Tried to get a rental once but I couldn't drive it. My work got in the way once. It felt like the universe was against me. ((((*。_。)_ Anyway I decided to just find a driving school to rent a vehicle from. I called around and it seemed like no one was in that business. I was hopeless until someone suggested Austin Driving School. ( ゚∀(・-・) I called them up and they gave me a quote. They gave me a day to think about it. I really appreciated that. I called back the next day, paid over the phone, and discussed the details of my road test appointment. The day of the test the instructor arrived exactly when they said they would. We had a 45 minute lesson. They took me almost the exact route I went during the test. They went over all the key maneuvers including parallel parking, which is something that I've never done successfully before. They encouraged me a lot. ( ^ -)人(^_^ ) The whole time they were very patient with me and attentive. The whole process was pretty much stress free. I do have one gripe. The phone number for that location in Google Maps goes to the main office in Austin rather than the office here. 「(゚o ゚) So, in conclusion, it was well worth it. And, I am a very satisfied customer. Oh yeah, I did pass the test. (/_^)/ . I can't say they taught me everything, but the devil is in the details they say. Rock out \m/…(>.<)…\m/
Negative experience: Very very difficult to scheduled drives with these people. They make scheduled times then don't tell you their instructor canceled until you get there. They promised to pick my teenager up from school on classroom days and driving days but don't..I would advise looking elsewhere
Negative experience: If there was a minis rating i would give minis 5 to them. The manager Ester is not only difficult to deal with but also rude. and when ever i called for my appointment she didn't have time slot available and when i called during her office she refused to talk as she was busy with something more IMPORTANT. During the lesson she didn't give the full time as she had a bunch of excuses. i took me two months just to finish 4 lessons of 1 hours 30 minutes each
Fantastic experience: I had such a great experience at Austin drivign school. The teachers like Mrs. Mendez were very nice and extremely helpfull, and the driving instructers like Mr. Reyna were very social and are very good at their job. I highly suggest Austin as a place to enroll.
