Shippers' Choice - CDL Training School

Fantastic experience: I was attending the Suffolk location. It's not bad class to attend at all. The instructors answers all questions and if they aren't sure they dig up the answer for you. My instructors were really nice, easy going and level head. Moe is the one who runs the range and tested me, I really enjoy his way of teaching. Unfortunately I didn't pass my test on my offset backing but I like the fact they will not shut you out and they will give you more practice time. I completed the January class.

Fantastic experience: I went to the November 2023 class and had the best time learning everything and the best classmates I've ever had to where our instructors all said that we were the most even class they've ever had and so far 4 out of 9 and counting have their CDL all ready I just wanna thank ed who is the range master if u follow his steps u should have almost no point on your pre-trip and Maneuvers. Mike who is a great out on the road he will keep u safe and also for people like myself who has never drove a stick before and I learned on a tractor trailer at 38 years old trust me u will be fine and moe and Jackie in the office too yall are great people as well so if your looking for a good school shippers choice in Suffolk is the best place to go

Fantastic experience: Ed the instructor will make sure you pass he’ll take you under his wing and coach you through everything and give you tips and tricks to better you also well tell you some funny and good life lessons stories his amazing and I’m thankful he was my instructor

Negative experience: I want it to be known that the actual process of being taught at the school is -passable-. Given that i can only speak for my own experience, this rating would have been higher by several stars if I simply felt like anyone on a faculty level literally communicated with each other. There is so much wasted time being done simply just to find out something as mundane as figuring out when a test/retest date is, and for the actual schooling itself, so much time is wasted on unequal road time. What I learned I appreciate greatly. But even under the long hours I was attending, the experience was greatly unequal. I hope eventually this changes. From equipment that is either unsafe to drive or has a seemingly never ending load of issues that put the learning process come to a halt, it feels like either funding or direction comes at odds end with itself. And this is a constant, mine you.

Fantastic experience: Just recently received my Class A CDL Passed on the first Try , I see a lot of mixed reviews honestly if you apply yourself and use what’s taught to your best advantage you will obtain your CDLS you have to want it ! I have to thank Mrs Rachel, Mr Mike and Moe were Very Helpful And Knowledgeable Also we had some trucks down here and there nothings perfect in life gotta take what comes at you !

Negative experience: At 8:55 AM it does not seem to be appropriate to practice driving a tractor trailer on a business route that only consists one lane per each direction. This puts the driving student at higher risk regarding commuters that are driving higher speeds to make it to work and likewise disrupts people's schedules that are tightly attached to the 9-5 workday schedule. (Not everyone can leave earlier for work) Luckily, It is not a school day as the route gets even more complicated at this exact time when Kilby Shores creates a back up in the road. Please reconsider using more appropriate route, like merging onto 58 instead of merging off onto Turlington rd. Suffolk has enough traffic issues as is. Thank you!

Negative experience: Shipper’s Choice doesn’t teach you the basics needed to be a safe tractor trailer driver

Positive experience: Hi I just passed my class b cdl test today and I owe it all yo mr.battle from day 1 he said if u listen and pay attention u won't fail and he was right he went Tru the pre trip like it was stamped in his head couldn't have had a better teacher when I come back for my class a I hope I get him again thanks so much appreciate everything 1 love

Fantastic experience: I just had a life changing experience at shippers choice in Suffolk. I received me CDL’s thanks to my instructor Battle he helped me out so much when I was getting frustrated he always picked me up and showed me better ways to attack my problem, we need more instructors like him. Shippers choice Suffolk let’s goooooo!

Fantastic experience: Nelson (recruiter) is great! He was able to enroll my husband in a class at the newport news location--which is what we needed. We also needed to be enrolled in a certain class so that my husband would be completed class before summer time began. Nelson was very professional, and very helpful.

Negative experience: Do not go to this cdl class they are unprofessional as I have ever seen. My personal experience with them I had the recruiter tell the teacher something about me and the teacher acted like I done or said something to him, an I don't know where any of it came from. Nelson is the recruiter name. Sorry guy Sorry people Sorry everything about them. Good luck if you try

Negative experience: Don’t advise anyone to go here this place is unprofessional been here and they have had 4 teachers within 2 months of being in this school doing weekend classes the guy that own this schooling he is very rude told me my personal problems had nothing to do with the school and why I couldn’t take the test they would call me on a Monday tell me to come take the test the next day and to take off work

Negative experience: Do not go to the school they have the most unprofessional instructors and people I have ever seen!!! They talk inappropriately about women and they let the women get away with Murder. You will be learning in very old trucks that are always breaking down. I think the way that I’ve been treated at the school is unfair and unjust so I will be writing about this every single day until I get somebody from the headquarters to contact me.I’m not asking for favoritism I’m just asking for fairness!

Negative experience: If u want to learn how to drive the rigs. Go elsewhere. Very bad quality education.
