Heights Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Worst experience I can imagine. Classroom instructor was erratic and only vaguely coherent. Older gentleman with a tendency to show the same video in multiple classes, suddenly bang on desks and shout as he rambled through odd monologues about the military while almost never touching on actual driving education . From the other reviews in the past year or two I’m actively worried this instructor is also doing behind the wheel and there’s no way I will subject my teen to that with him. Classroom had no (or minimal) AC in summer. Website information was consistently inaccurate about schedules and even the general process. Example 1 - website said one day at this location was class #1 which my teen needed, but it turned out to be class #6. Example #2 - enrollment email stated that after taking 2 of the 8 in person classes a driver could begin scheduling the 8 hours of behind the wheel, however on the phone we were told that couldn’t be done until all in person classroom time was complete. I cannot fathom how this was $500+
Hi John,
We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. This is not the experience we want for any of our students or their families.
Please give us a call at your earliest convenience so we can speak with you directly and make things right. We take feedback seriously and would value the opportunity to discuss this further and resolve it.
Thank you,

Negative experience: SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION!!! Just use SafePass Driving school if you can, they had decent customer service and are willing to work with you. But THIS school is definitely not a good choice, seeing as though I had issues before I could even get started. Customer service is AWFUL!!! I’m not sure where to start but I will definitely say this school is NOT professional! I was looking for a school that could get me scheduled for behind the wheel lessons before my Temporary Permit expired. I found this school and took a look to see if they were able to do that but at the time, the very rude person I spoke with said they had no times available that were within the timeframe I was looking for. They had a nasty attitude and when I asked for a refund she said she would get that sent through to the person responsable for handling those process. 7 days later I call back in to get an update and the next person I got ahold of says it was never requested and that there WERE times available that fit my timeframe just fine. I’m obviously frustrated but remain professional, never swearing and asking for at least an email confirmation letting me know it was actually requested this time since I had found another school already and she proceeded to give me very vague responses and get upset. Not only did she rudely place me on hold after being faced with questions she as an employee SHOULD have had the knowledge to answer but when I asked for the email confirmation she told me it was policy to not send anything like that out, AND THEN FOUND A WAY TO SEND THAT TO ME ANYWAY! So now after being frustrated and lied to, I await for the person that handles refunding to actually look at the request which could be days, weeks or even months away because I also could not be given a time frame for that either.
Thank you for letting us know your experience with us at Heights Driving. We are sorry we could not at first accommodate your time to when you wanted your lesson to be completed. Our staff did work on finding lessons that would work with your time and offered them to you but you turned them down and requested a refund. We did refund you for the lessons and sent you a conformation email. We are happy you found other arrangements for your driving.
Negative experience: Joe Dixon is absolutely a joke. I would not recommend him at all.
Negative experience: literally the biggest waste of money of my life. i had an old black guy i don’t remember his name but he was very unprofessional. he took control of the wheel and the brake entirely too much. there were times i wouldn’t even put my foot on the break but the car would stop. he was very ignorant and rude to me the entire time but didn’t act like that with other students. i hated every single second of it and i will be following up on this because for 550 dollars of my hard earned money i learned NOTHING.
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible. Teacher is totally incompetent and has no idea what’s going on. Nobody there has any idea what the class is actually for or what it will actually do to help you. One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a long time.
Fantastic experience:
Fantastic experience: After completing her online course, my daughter had a great (in car) driving experience with Heights Driving School; she was able to passed the maneuverability and road test on the first try! Her instructor, Joe Dixon, was prompt, kind and courteous. Needed to pick up her completion certificate immediately prior to her test and were able to do so with no problems!
Negative experience: Mr Joe Dixon was my driving instructor. He took control of the wheel multiple times. Slammed his hands on the dashboard when I made a mistake. Constantly told me points would be deducted on the real driving test for mistakes I make. Reminded me many times if I do something wrong, “i will fail”. Horrible experience. I highly do not recommend.
Negative experience: most unorganized place i have ever been to in my whole life! mr dixon is erratic and bangs on desks, screams, and reinacts fighting moves constantly. he makes racist comments & DOES NOT TEACH ABOUT DRIVERS ED AT ALL!!! if i coukd get my money back or switch my instructor, i would. this is the worst driving school ever.
Negative experience: This school is very unorganized, they dont have enough staff ro whatever reason it is very difficult to schedule the driving lessons. If I could I would take my money back and look for a private person for the driving hours. You can schedule only on one day at one certain hour and the online page is horrible, if you can not do in that day, it gets delayed yet another week and so on for months and months.
Negative experience: The teacher only talks about his own personal opinions on political, crime, and police issues that don't apply to the class. He often makes erratic fighting moves and hits on his desk and other objects which are anxiety-provoking. I do not suggest going to this class.
Negative experience: If you give them 0 starts I will give them 0, this is the worst driving school ever they take long to process your payments and also the driver instructor is very loud and judge mental he will literally sit up and tell how he was different from other people and how he much way intelligent then more people and also they take the longest to schedule your in cars, definitely don’t recommend.
Negative experience: Very rude and sarcastic. They try to make you feel like you're stupid for asking questions. I don't even want to sign up.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional. They take your money and leave you hanging by a thread for months. They make it impossible to schedule and they’re all so unorganized. Please take your money and TIME else where. They will tell you schedule dates that aren’t true and make you pay fees after you’ve already paid $400. There in car classes are very unorganized. PLEASE TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE
Negative experience: Takes a very long time to get back to you and when asking questions they seem annoyed, I took my money elsewhere
Fantastic experience: Vicky was very repectfull and helpefull even if the question I had was stupid she took time to explain it very detailed and prompt I recommend this class to anyone needing a remidial class this is the one
Thank you so much! We'll pass this on to Vicky. Heights Driving School appreciates the opportunity to assist you in furthering your awareness of traffic laws & best driving practices. You are keeping everyone safe on the road. We wish you memorable journeys & safe travels.
Fantastic experience: My experience with this driving school was amazing. I took a 4 hour class and my instructor was awsome she helped us understand the information she was teaching us way better she was super nice and friendly and she just made my day i wasn't so nervous anymore then when i first walked in and there was a small class of girls so i felt comfortable. Thankyou soooo much Vicky for being the sweet and kind person that you are.
Thank you so much for allowing Heights Driving School to help on your driving journey. Safe travels while you make wonderful memories on the open road!
Positive experience: Get a load of that second floor cantilever over the lot.
Fantastic experience: Vicky was my instructor and I cannot say how great she was. I was lucky enough to have a one on one session with her and she made me feel very relax and helped me with all questions. I wish I could give a higher rating cause that was a 10/10 experience.
Thank you so much Eric! We will pass this on to Vicky. Safe travels on all your great adventures.
Fantastic experience: Thanks again..
Of course. Thank you for choosing Heights Driving School
Fantastic experience: I want to thank Heights Driving School very much for their helpful assistance to me. I failed my first attempt at my driving test at the end of January, and being over the age of 18, had to enroll in the Adult Abbreviated class. Although I was not thrilled about having to do so, the folks at Heights Driving School made the whole process very simple for me. I took the 4 hours classroom time at the Lee Road location with Vicky as my teacher, and she was very personable, easy to talk to, and a good teacher, making the experience much better. I took the four hours of in-car time with two separate teachers at the Parma location, CC and Jim DeFranco. Jim especially was helpful to me in teaching a surefire method that helped me pass the manuverability portion of the driving test, and just today I passed the driving portion; I am now a licensed driver. Thanks again to this school for making the process go smoothly for me.
Thank you very much Jeff! We are dedicated to helping our clients achieve their goal of becoming safe & competent drivers. Enjoy your driving adventures & journeys.
Negative experience: My daughter had a very poor experience at this driving school, rude administrative staff, very hard to schedule. The on road instructor was adequate and prompt. The classroom time was poorly executed as well. My other children will be attending other schools in hopes of finding competence and friendly service.
Negative experience: This School really need to hire new instructors, the current one Mr. Dixon while in class is talking about current news vs teaching Drivers Ed. , while driving if you make a mistake vs coaching you through the issue he grabs the wheel can you imagine driving and someone does this especially to a teenager who is already nervous. Once my daughter told me this I called the school and complained they suppose to talk to him but who knows. What I do know if anything happen with my child while driving because this idiot grab the wheel they will have a hell of lawsuit on their hands. I would not recommend this place to anyone
Negative experience: My driving instructor, Mr. Lee was a jackass. He assumed that I had already been driving for years, despite stating otherwise. Then he would tell me what to do and when I screwed up, but not how to improve. So he wasn't so much an instructor as a director and critic, only without anything constructive to say. He just was giving me the requisite number of lessons for my $350 and not going to bother with making me any better of a driver. It actually took me 4 years to finally get my license. I was not a bad driver, mind you, I just had no confidence or level of ability as a driver to pass the test. So I practiced without him. By then, passing the written portion was no problem, but passing the driving portion was shaky, and he never helped me improve on backing up. Again, he just seemed to think I had already been driving for years, ignoring that on our first outing I was perfectly content to drive at 5mph, because it was more than twice as fast as how I moved when walking (2mph). I don't know in what world people drive without licenses until they reach thirty, but this person is not in that world. Mr. Lee was terrible and I wish he hadn't been my instructor.
What an unfortunate experience! Mr. Lee is not employed by Heights Driving School. I would suggest you contact the driving school you did take lessons at directly, & discuss your issues with them. We wish you the best, drive safely.
Fantastic experience: My driving school instructor was very nice she was very helpful and just being and her class my made me feel proud of myself thank u so much Vicky
Thank you so much for your kind words, Marvis! We will let Vicky know.
Positive experience: I signed up for the 2 hours course just to get a better understanding of what I needed to improve upon. They helped me accomplish that the other reviews here are accurate especially about Mr.Dixon. He is very old school is all I can say. For some reason he believes that after he tells you something the first time your just suppose to automatically be able to do it like a reflex almost it’s like he doesn’t realize or even cares that everyone learns differently and at a different pace & if we all were able to pick things up after the first time we wouldn’t have needed to pay $139 for a 2 hour course. I did learn a lot but the way he talks to you makes you feel very discouraged his firmness didn’t really bother me it was the fact that he really does speak to you like your slow but also continuously says you have to practice which is obvious but yea for those reason. I won’t be paying for any other courses with them. It wasn’t that bad of an experience but I honestly dreaded the entire 2 hours I was in the car with him lol. Which is a distraction on top everything else you have to pay attention learning to drive is already frustrating enough.
Negative experience: I had my first in car yesterday with Mr.Dixon. I HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL! It was a terrible experience. He constantly takes the steering wheel, gets frustrated easily, constantly reminded me how I would fail by not doing stuff correctly and to be honest he made me feel inadequate and more nervous than I already was. I kept telling him I had few experiences behind the wheel hence why I enrolled in these courses and I only ever practiced on the parking lot. I was completely blindsided my going into the road already along with his attitude.I had to call the driving school to get me a different instructor. Also the scheduling is terrible. I have a month to a few weeks wait on my in car lessons when i paid for the adult courses. It makes absolutely no sense smh you can do better tbh but I pray this new driving instructor is pleasant or else we will have more problems.
Negative experience: In class instructions was a good experience for my son. In-car scheduling is extremely frustrating. This process should take 1-2 weeks, but this will probably take my son 1 month or more. The instructor did not show up for his first leasson and his 3rd lesson was cancelled. I would definitely avoid the frustration and unprofessionalism and pick another school.
Positive experience: I had excellent driving coaches Nate and Twandrea. I learned alot from them, they were very patient and great trainers. However Mr. Dixon was a terrible experience, he snatched the wheel, slammed the brakes, constantly reminded you how many points would be lost during driving exam. I will recommend no one drives with him.
Positive experience: They taught me how to drive and I haven't had any major car accidents yet so... 4 stars.
Thanks so much, Graham! Best wishes on your driving career. Be safe, and enjoy the road!
Negative experience: Had three lessons with Mr. Joe Dixon and it was an absolute waste of time. Felt like I have not learned anything, and he wasn't very helpful. I would choose somewhere else
