Howard Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Save your hard earned money and do not give it to this "school" .They have only one person teaching the class. The "instructor " is grouchy and disrespectful. He did not repeat his instructions. Instead, he constantly complains and murmurs . There was NEVER positive reinforcement. He did not have a teaching plan, breaking the skills into small tasks. There was zero empathy, respect or positivity, even though the company says that they know how to educate nervous and adult drivers. When I asked for my money back from the classes that I did not received as no one in their right mind would take another lesson after the first one. They REFUSED to give me my money back. The cynicism they have is to have you pay ahead of time and then say that you will not be refunded after 72 hours. How are you going to know if the lessons are useful or not after 72 hours of paying if you have not taken any of those lessons? So , he is getting paid to disrespect students for 2 hours and then not seeing them again as NO ONE in their right mind would go back to that "school ".
Fantastic experience: I have tried several driving schools, but Howard's Driving School is the best one out of them all, there is no comparison, the instructor is very knowledgeable and passionate about teaching you why you do what you do.
Thank you and may GOD BLESS you.
Negative experience: I wish I could give this business zero stars, do not trust your children with this Driving school. The business owner has a horrible system of keeping track of students hrs and attendance. Do not waste your money with this individual as they are a borderline scammers. I will be reporting to the Secretary of State.
Sorry but it’s a regular sign in sheet and you fell to sign in because you were not there. You simply missed to many days.
Fantastic experience: W teacher, my homie
Negative experience: Very poor communication and not a good investment. Lost money and my son will need to get training elsewhere. Nice teacher but program needs huge improvement.
Fantastic experience: I strongly recommend Mr. Javier very good instructor and always patient and makes sure the student learns the right way to drive and achieve their goal. Alex is a very good instructor and very patient, teaches the student to gain confident when learning to driving
Negative experience: Left many messages as instructed by the answering machine different days, and hours.no call back at all
Fantastic experience: Love it!
Fantastic experience: It was a very interesting experience. Much more informative about random, useless slightly illegal stuff than anything I've ever done.
Positive experience: Such a good driving school! Mr.Howard was such a good teacher and prepared me so much for the test.
Fantastic experience: Great teacher easy to come to ask questions about anything about the class great humor in the class
Positive experience: Great place and convenient location! Teacher made the class easy to down with stories and jokes. Main concern was actually explaining the material, and staying on task with the topic at hand. Otherwise, it was definitely an experience to remember and taught me much!
Fantastic experience: I recommend this place if you are looking for a driving school.
Fantastic experience: 10/10 imma recommend this to EVERYONE I know!
Fantastic experience: Amazing teacher with lots of stories and makes sure we understand the topic of discussion.
Positive experience: I had a great experience and learned so much. It was really helpful and now I’m ready to get my permit and then my license.
Fantastic experience: Great place . Funny teacher
Positive experience: I had a great experience there, and the teacher was very nice and supportive.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this driving course for several reasons. This isn’t just any driving course where a teacher sits there and forces you to learn. The instructor really connects with the student and tries to get the message across and is always helpful. Not only is the teacher helpful, but is constantly nice and likes to tell jokes. I learned things I don’t think I’d learn in a Normal, oriented driving class with 15 other kids. Some people are in here bashing about the kids being there while they’re being taught? they're kids! They are one of the most respectful kids I’ve ever seen. Howard driving school offers a unique way of teaching, but he gets the job done. Highly. Recommend.
Fantastic experience: Best teacher ever! Always looked forward to class. This is the place to go
Fantastic experience: Very informative, really great teacher.
Fantastic experience: Super chill dude, really good place to learn how to drive. I highly recommend it because I used to be very inconfidnet driving but now I feel very confident.
Fantastic experience: Very good school and very informative. The teacher is very funny and keeps the class entertaining.
Positive experience: Good class, teaches what you need to know, Mr.Howard is a fun teacher.
Fantastic experience: Really chill and educational.
Fantastic experience: I just finished in car with Howard Driving School and it was fast and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend attending his classes and I feel prepared for taking my license test!
Fantastic experience: Mr.Howard is the best! You should definitely do drivers ed here!
Negative experience: I have been trying to get my driving certificate to the DMV so I can get my liscense but this driving school hasn't put my info in online. I have called twice now and they've said they did, but whenever I go to the DMV they say I never even completed driver's education. This place is horrible. Don't go here.
I am sorry you are having problems getting your driver’s license but you haven’t stated the true reason for your problem. According to our records you were enrolled in 07/14/2015 classroom and behind the wheel program but you only completed the classroom portion of the program, this is why you didn’t get a letter of completion from the Secretary of State. You never completed the whole program. State law require the completion of both classroom and behind the wheel, (Completion of Driver Education Training: Upon successful completion of the classroom and behind-the-wheel portions of driver education through your local high school, the Secretary of State’s office will receive notification and add a notation to your driving record. Found in the Illinois GDL parent teen driving guide chapter 5, page 23.) This was also given to everyone in class. Now that you are 19 you no longer qualify for that program and need to fulfil the requirements for the 18-20 old program which states that you need to take 6 hours of classroom unless you passed a 30 hour class in high school and have a transcript to prove it from the high school. Do I have to take the Adult Driver Education course if I took driver education in high school?
No. If an applicant provides proof of successful completion of a high school driver education program to the Secretary of State’s Office, they will be allowed to apply for an Illinois driver’s license without taking the Adult Driver Education Course. Acceptable proof would be a certified transcript from your high school showing a passing grade. Founded in Adult Driver Education FAQs Driver Services cyberdriveillinois.com. Yes according to our records you did call us twice. The first call you asked if we could give you proof of taking the classroom and I said yes and typed a certificate. I told the person that came to pick up the certificate that the people working at the front desk of the Secretary of State would probably not accept the certificate and say that we didn’t put your information online, that at that point you should ask to speak to a supervisor and if the supervisor don’t help you call me from there and give me his name and I will have the DMV teen department to call him and get your papers processed. The second time I talked with you, you said that the person at the desk told you I did not put your information online and I asked you did you ask to speak to a supervisor and you said no. So I asked if you had a fax to send me a copy of your certificate and you said no, so I said on Monday when I am back in the office I will type another certificate for you and send it to my field representative and maybe he can help you. Right after I agreed to help you and hung up the phone you write this review but I still kept my word and typed and sent to my representative a copy. Since I have not heard from you again I guess my field representative was able to help you. Only the local high school has access to the State computer system through the board of education. There is no private driving school that can put anything online, because we do not have access to the State computer.
Negative experience: does not teach. puts on slides for a minute each and you have to manage to teach yourself. i payed $80 for this bs class. Would NOT reccommend.
Fantastic experience: I took a 6 hour driving course with him. He was fine, he got us (the students) through it. Thanks Howard :)
Positive experience: Dear owner of Howard Driving School, I do not know you and I have never been to your establishment, but I just want to write to make you aware that every response you're sending to people is getting posted publicly for the entire world to see. And as Kiara Banks said, badmouthing former students really doesn't make me want to come to your business. I would be laughing right now about how unappealing it makes your business look, but it's probably not very funny for you. I'm sure you run a very fine business, but for your sake you may want to get your Public Relations problem under control. Respectfully sending my business elsewhere, David
Negative experience: The place is really unprofessional. All they do is show you videos and make your read things out of a power point but no explanation is given. The staff have their own kids playing around in pj's. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Negative experience: Worst service ever, surely won't be recommending this place. I did a 6 hr class there in order to get my driver's license and they couldn't even provide me with my completed certificate because they had no ink,,really? Not to mention the place is so unprofessional, the staff had their own children there as well.
