Negative experience: It feels like they are only trying to make as much money as possible and they have an incentive to fail you. The cost for a driving test is a non-refundable $70 if you bring your own car or $100 to use theirs, which they don't say anywhere on their website for some reason even though it's a flat rate per test. I went on a Thursday morning, paid, and sat and waited for about half an hour. There was a sign saying if your phone makes any noise at all while testing it is an instant fail, which is a bit harsh, but maybe with benefit of the doubt they have a history of people using phones on the road test. Then the instructor called my name and started walking out and didn't even make eye contact or say his name. First thing they did is test my vehicle's lights, which is fine. Then we got in and I quickly tried to mention 2 issues my vehicle has with running rough just so my instructor is aware, but instead of appreciating my warning, the instructor said it's "better not to tell him" and if I say too much he would "have to fail me". So, for example, if my car starts having weird RPM issues for a few seconds during the test because it is in need of a tune up, you would rather find out while it's happening instead of knowing beforehand? Seems like an easy path to fail me or say it's running rough due to my actions. I failed for instances of stopping past a stop sign and stopping in a crosswalk, which I will not deny was my fault, but the instructor then had me drive straight back to the testing center, instead of finishing the test. I paid $70 for a full test and did not receive one. I would expect to at least finish the whole test since it's only 20 minutes and then receive feedback on other things I may have missed. Now, if I go back, it's easy for me to fail on a later part of the test that I didn't know, but I still have to pay $70 every time. I left the test feeling like I paid a lot for a 20 minute test and received a 5 minute fail with little constructive criticism.

Negative experience: I'm very disappointed with this place. My distinct impression is that they're only out to make as much money as possible. Took test twice, first time the issue was parallel parking. No comment about anything else. Second time there were issues with signal usage and mirror issues and other items that were not mentioned on first test. Would not recommend to anyone, had better testers at 16 years old

Negative experience: ROBBERY they didn't explain nothing to my friends wife. She's no even from the states and didn't explain the rule or anything. $100 gone less than 30 sec. I would never recommend this place to no body unless you wanna get robbed. Stupid business needs to get shut down.

Fantastic experience: PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!! PART 2/2 I went into the driver's seat and Tanya went into the passenger seat, she explained all of the car's functions and how to use them like the headlights, the park reverse etc, and how to adjust the mirrors. she then let me know that I'd be driving all the way to Girdwood and through the highway. At this point, I was terrified and extremely nervous, I was shivering. Tanya saw this, and she looked at me, kindly told me it was going to be okay, that I can do this, and that she will be here to help. She assured me that she can take control of the steering wheel, she can brake or accelerate since she has pedals on the passenger side as well, and if I ever need I can find somewhere safe, and breathe. If it wasn't for this, I would of never got through it. She was so reassuring, I trusted her and she helped calm my nerves a bunch. I went on the road, she gave me constant advice and help, she told me where to go and what to do. By the time I knew it, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. She helped me get onto the highway, and merge, and I was really driving!!! She made sure that I was comfortable, and kept reassuring me on how good I'm doing, and that I'm really driving! I was so happy. I ended up driving ALL the way to Girdwood, and then back. I entered and exited the highway all the way from and to Girdwood on my FIRST EVER DAY ON THE ROAD. I drove back to my house. I hugged Tanya and thanked her, and I was READY for the next three days. During the next three, I went over techniques like Parallel Parking, Roundabouts, and driving in general. During the next days I drove to Flat top, point woranzof, and cincaid. It was scary at first but felt so much easier and I confidently drove there! On the fourth and last day, Tanya let me know I'd be practicing parallel parking one last time, and that I'd take the road test (driver's test, 2 attempts included in the program). She let me know she believed in me. I was scared, I was nervous, but I passed. After three days of driving, my first three days of driving, I passed my road test. I got my drivers license on the very same day from the DMV. I passed with 96/100 and the entire road test was a comfortable and nice experience. My instructor was Jacob for the road test. I thanked Tanya, and I will never forget her. I was about to genuinely cry when leaving the student car and walking to the DMV to get my license. This school was able to take ME, someone with on driving experience on the road, to getting my license on the FOURTH day of driving. I thank my Instructor Tanya for being so kind and genuine, I loved being your student driver. And thank you to Jacob for the comfortable and fun class. Thank you to the employees at the school who were KIND AND HELPFUL TO ME. Im so happy and proud to say now that I CAN DRIVE!! If you want to learn to drive, and a comfortable experience that will leave you confident, happy, with kind people. PLEASE COME TO THIS SCHOOL. IM GENUINELY SO GRATEFUL FOR THEM!

Fantastic experience: PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!! PART 1/2 Before I get heavy on the details of my experience taking the Student Drivers Learn To Drive Program, I want to first briefly summarize some information about myself. I am a twenty year old male and I have always been afraid of driving, especially because I know that one mistake can be devastating under bad circumstances. I had never touched a steering wheel until 19, and I had only drove 3 times in total beforehand. All three times were in parking lots, and I had never been on the road. This horrible driving anxiety that I had affected me in so many ways. It was always embarrassing to have to let other people know that at my age, I had no license, and no permit. (I had gotten my permit in June), but beforehand everyone would laugh or be confused as to why I didn't even have a permit. At the same time, working was limited for me, I could only work at places I could walk to, and that is exactly what I have been doing. MY DETAILED EXPERIENCE OF THE "LEARN TO DRIVE PROGRAM". 8 HOUR CLASS: The first thing that will be taken is the 8 hour defensive driving class. Within this class you will be learning information about driving, the car/vehicle itself, and how certain circumstances must be dealt with. Before going into the building I was scared that I would be one of the only people there. I don't know why, but I was also sure there wouldn't be a lot of people around my age. I was wrong. The room was absolutely filled and most of the people were around my age or younger. There were two older women, one of them having her daughter as a translator to be there. Our teacher for the day was JACOB. When I tell you that this man is AN AMAZING, ENGAGING, AND FUN person, I am not lying. He immediately had all of the classroom pay attention, and get ready for the LONG class. He had our groups of tables come up with names, or assign one ourselves. Most groups did not pick their own names, he assigned them haha. The class had a ONE HOUR lunch break. Jacob put on some music, and people were free to eat inside the classroom, many people doordashed as well. The class went by extremely fast and by the end of it you are given a certification paper of your Defense Driving Course today. This can get you a discount on car insurance. The class itself was long, however went by really fast, the people were funny, nice. and during lunch I had a blast while talking to other people who are like me, learning to drive. The class is so rememberable, I can recall the group names, The back group, blueys, pooh bear(that was my group lol), the nerds, american hand sanitizers, and da cherries. 4 DAYS OF DRIVING : Once you are done with the class, you have four days of dedicated driving lessons with a one on one instructor in one of the provided cars from the school. One or two days before your lesson, you are supposed to get a call or text from your instructor to talk about your lesson. I had a minor problem here, my instructor never called or texted me, and when I called the school to ask why, they said they had my number with 307 instead of 907? I was confused since I remember putting 907 and I had a picture of it as well on my information paper you had to fill out in the beginning of the defensive driving class. None the less, they fixed my number, and were extremely kind about it. The day finally came where my lessons were taking place. My lessons were scheduled at 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, I was terrified, I was excited, but most of all, I was NOT EXPECTING what would happen next. My instructor Tanya came out of the car, affirmed who I was, and kindly asked how I am. After that, I assumed I was going to be taken somewhere to learn the basics of driving. I tried going into the passenger seat, but Tanya laughed a little and let me know that I'm actually going to be driving! I genuinely thought she was joking until it was obvious she wasn't. Get this, I had no experience at all in driving beyond a parking lot. I had only drove 3 times, and I had extreme road anxiety. (PLEASE FIND PART 2 HERE, MY REVIEW IS TOO LONG! )

Fantastic experience: Rick answered questions, gave straight forward instructions, gave suggestions, and gave excellent feedback helping with road confidence. My daughter felt so much better about driving after this and has more confidence on the road.

Negative experience: Business shut down w/o notice. They rescheduled my teens driving class twice before they decided to shut down. Wasted our time and plans. I need a full refund.

Positive experience: Paid close to $1k for driving lessons for my teenager. Closed up shop without a phone call or a refund? I’m hoping if and when they re open we will get a full refund! Editing to add that I did get a full refund. Frustrating few weeks of uncertainty but very happy for the refund!

Fantastic experience: I took Drivers Training with Nicole. She is one of the best and really makes u fell like she is your friend. She knows what she is doing and i learn stuff that I did know but make it better and easier.

Fantastic experience: The road test is a bit pricey but worth it. The instructor makes sure you’re ready and comfortable before the test which is honestly such a good thing for nervous teens. The test is pretty much a guaranteed pass unless you are genuinely a TERRIBLE driver. (Practice before taking the test!!! Remember the test is $70-$100) The parallel parking does not need to be perfect, as long as it’s in the parking spot and you don’t hit anything. To anyone who plans to take their road test here, good luck!

Negative experience: The driving instructor Jose is extremely rude. His tone of voice is very discouraging and disrespectful and today he ended our class 20 minutes early at 9:45 He also does not help at all most of the time he just sits and doesn’t say anything. I would like to contact whoever is in charge to do something about this.

Fantastic experience: Consistent on reliability and customer service friendly. Great hours. I called and left a message, all though the answering service answered my question, they returned me call promptly.

Negative experience: Do not go. They Forcing me to pay $300. I had my permit for months Prior and passed both written test. I drive with my Dad all the time and they still try to find the smallest thing to not pass me because the color of my skin. I should've known the first time.

Fantastic experience: I signed up for the instructors class, driving practice and the drivers test. The instructor class was really helpful, it taught me things I didn’t know about and those things now are common sense to me. The driving practice was very very helpful. My instructor was Nicole and I felt so comfortable with her because she was helpful by giving advice and really kind too. And for the drivers road test I didn’t get his name but he was very helpful after taking the test buy giving pointers on how I can improve. Overall great experience, 10/10!

Fantastic experience: Took my grandson in on his 16th birthday to take his driving test. Zero waiting time and awesome staff. Go to their website and read over all their info on road test. Everything you need to know and practice before the test. 12 steps to pass including diagram for acceptable parallel parking. They even have cones to practice. My grandson passed and practiced everything required from their website. Their is even a UMV office in the back of the same building where your get your picture taken and new drivers license. No waiting in line hours in the state DMV.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff, calming effect when tacking driving test, he talked to me very polite to remind me of what I did that was incorrect.

Negative experience: I took a J-1 visa holder here to take a road test. The visa holder had been in the United States less than 90 days, had a valid international license, and had proof of recently passing Alaska’s written knowledge test. The J-1 visa holder was therefore already a lawful driver in Alaska allowed to take a road test. They nonetheless claimed she needed a permit to take a road test, but then said she could test anyway, but it “could be flagged by the DMV” who could “void the test.” This is entirely inaccurate. Permits are not required for those over 18 who are currently lawful drivers. And if it were correct, then they shouldn’t have administered a test. They were evidently aware of their wrongdoing, as rather than risk trouble with the DMV, they failed the poor J-1 visa holder for supposedly not getting the entire car within cones set up for parallel parking. This “failure” involved cones surrounding a half-plowed mess, and the J-1 visa holder, a non-native English speaker, didn’t understand what she was supposed to do, as the tester explained only in rushed English. Everything about my interaction with this business wreaked of their ignorance and money-grubbing, served with a subtle side of bullying. I recommend looking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I took road practice with teacher Jacob for 4 days. I highly recommend it to people who are having a hard time to start driving and hesitating to enroll the school. The Teacher was very patience and gave me lots of self confidence, encouragement. I learned how to drive based on safety and road traffic condition. I appreciate to teacher for all.

Remember to fill out a driver license form and bring $20 to get your photo taken at DMV. Be prepared to take a vision test again too.

Negative experience: They charge 100 dollars per test. If you fail you don’t get your money back and have to pay another 100 every time. This is a scam. Go to the dmv and wait to take the test if you need to wait.

Fantastic experience: I signed up for driving lessons and had Jacob as my instructor. He was very patient, informative, and encouraging. I felt at ease driving because he walked me through the steps, and corrected my mistakes in a calm manner without chastising me (an unfortunate experience I had with my initial instructor ). Jacob’s profound way of teaching student drivers was the very reason reason I was able to pass my test with confidence.

Fantastic experience: My wife came here for the third time and finally passed. All 3 times were with different instructors and I just wanna say a special shout-out to Jose, not because he passed my wife lol but because she was telling me that he kept her calm and was being a great teacher so thank you Jose.

Fantastic experience: Proven to be 1 of the best! No need of simulation to learn how to drive. Attend the classroom instruction, and get behind the wheels! The instructor I had was awesome! She was thorough in making sure all the safety skills, road test routes, and traffic rules are covered! Instructor made sure any surfaces you touch in the car are sanitized. So, no worries about cleanliness and sanitation as they are on top of that! Danica and Jacob are the best I had during this “learn how to drive “ journey. Thank you Driving Educational School. Negative experience: I heard many people saying if you fail your first try you won’t have to pay including with your 2nd try but the first time I went and I fail they still made me pay?? Soooooo am I hearing false information or are they lying about this ?? And when I went to this place I didn’t have my own car so we took one of the employees car ?? Is this even allowed? It wasn’t even a student car or label as a STUDENT CAR . THIS PLACE IS BAD ! They will eat your money even if you fail on that first time !!

Fantastic experience: In business since 1978 this is one of many fine driving schools in the Anchorage area. ASD parents, remember to ask about getting credit for you child’s coursework there. I believe that any classes taken between June 1st and throughout the rest of the school year might be eligible for credit. Also, another potential benefit, remember to keep all records to give to your insurance company to take advantage of any discounts. It isn’t cheap to get coverage for teens!

Negative experience: They weren’t clear with their instructions, he told to park between the 3 cones and then when I said I was done, he said you didn’t park between the inside 2. If he told me to park between those 2 I would have passed so he wasn’t clear with his instructions.

She was good at communicating, and she helped me become confident while driving . Ive learned a lot during the 8 hours of driving. Fantastic experience: If you're trying to get your license, COME HERE! Had a very welcoming and comfortable experience! I was so nervous for my road test but the moment I entered the building with my wife (who was also taking a road test), we were greeted by Joy, who was working the front desk. She was very friendly and answered every question we had. Her answers helped calm my nerves. Then, I met my driving instructor, Tim, who was also very friendly, calm and laid back. The road test is $70 but trust me it's worth it! Friendly, easy-going staff and the road test was really fast! When Tim told me I passed, I was so excited! My wife also had Tim as her instructor and she passed too! Before you take it just make sure you practice your parallel parking, your stops, merging, switching lanes and instruction following. Highly recommend this place to everyone, ESPECIALLY to those who are extremely nervous about their road test.

Fantastic experience: I went here to take my road test, and everything went smoothly! Right when I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff. The lady at the front desk, Joy, was very kind and made sure that all of my questions were answered before my road test. The test only cost $70; it was very quick and easy! The examiner, Tim, used simple directions and gave helpful tips after telling me that I passed. Overall, the staff did a great job at making me feel comfortable! Fantastic experience: When I had failed the first time, the examiner had given me a few tips and had helped me to be better. After 7 days, I took my test again and I passed even with a different examiner. They’re very professional and confident with their job! It was a great and awesome learning experience and I got my license the same day I passed. Definitely recommended to anyone. Just be yourself, don’t be nervous, and know that every move that you make when the examiner is in the car are graded. Thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: Signed up for the class after i failed my driving test at the dmv. My instructor was dave and he taught me a bunch of useful things during my 8 hours of driving with him. Then after finishing the 8 hour driving class i went to the 8 hour driving instructional class and during lunch i took my road test with Jose i passed my first attempt.I highly recommend this school.

Negative experience: My wife is trying to get her license and the man name Jose(?) Told my wife to stop when road was clear, and wanted her to stop in the middle of the road on a right of way. She refuses to complain, so I will make the complain about this man. He SHOULD NOT be an instructor and must find another occupation. She's had to take it twice now and now they have lost credibility. They even had a learner instructor come with her and all they did was talk.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience with drivers test, highly recommended We took both our Au Pairs from South America, English is their second language, here for their drivers test. Drivers' Educational School, Inc. was very accommodating and patient. Recommended if you have a driver with English as second language as they are much more accommodating than the DMV and UMV.

Negative experience: Walked into used the DMV services, girl at the counter very snooty "We DON'T do DMV services, we never have. DMV is the only place that offers that, we are a driving school!" Perhaps a little training on the business end is needed to let staff know what services offered, as well as some customer service skills. Horrible person to have on the front line of a business as it gives a bad impression and may not properly reflect your business.

Fantastic experience: The instructors are helpful and you can learn in a car that they provide. They have a designated area to practice parallel parking and they give specific instructions on what you need to do to improve.

Fantastic experience: I did the walk in road test and used their car. The car drove great, the first time I took the road-test I made a big mistake and knew I messed up and the instructor still had a wonderful attitude and when we got back he was clear on what I needed to work on and where my mistakes were. I passed the second time, and with a different instructor he had a great attitude as well and was clear with instructions and made me feel at as ease as possible, knowing I was a little nervous because it was a test. Staff at the front desk was very helpful and an amazing attitude. She went through what I did wrong last time and showed me visually THE Double Lane roundabout on Dowling, and made it very clear, I have it down pat now. I am sorry to say I wasted money on a different drivers school improvement course only because it was cheaper, it was a poor experience there and if I had to do it all over again I would have chosen this school. Amazing job guys and Thank you Drivers Education Inc!!!! :)

Negative experience: Can I put no star for them? Very unprofessional on other services except driving related. They should review their training procedure and attitude issue.

Positive experience: I went to this place twice and failed both times. I understand I still need some practise to become a safe driver but I would like to leave my review about the expirience with this company. First test the instructer who tested me was a nice lady and she made me very comfortable and confident. I actually could not pass by just a point and over all was so happy with her that I booked another try in a week. It is more expensive than the DMV but they are open on a Saturday AND you dont need an appointment so I went for it. However my 2nd expirience was bad. First I was told that I did not pass my parallel parking last time- which was not true because the lady instructor told me I did a good job on it. Second I did not get the man who was going to test me but he was very unprofesional. He looked at my papers and made a comment about me not passing the first time. Then because I was using my personal car he made a comment about it not working well in reverse- his comment was that the car must not like me. When he inspected my car he did not do the same sort of inspection as the lady did the week before. On the parralel parking he did not ask the same requests as the lady did the week before. I do believe that the test needs to be performed the same way and not have changes in what you are asked to do. Also when we were leaving the parking lot he asked me to do a left turn on road. I waited for a proper gap in traffic and when I took the turn he yelled that i did not wait long enough and grabbed my wheel off my hands making me loose control over the car. I deffiently used my mirrors and also did not hear anyone blowing their horn at me but lets assume it was my mistake. From that point forward he basically did not perform the test. He did not say I failed and ask me to go back but he made me go trough the same rout like the lady did except I know he was not paying attention at my driving because I was going trough a school zone and I slowed my speed and he asked me why I am slowing down. He also did not take any notes of my driving at all. When we returned at the office I got out of the car he did not even take the time to look trough the score or tell me why I failed (although I know he failed me for that turn). All he said is- try again next week and also he tried offering me their short class with a road test in the end for $300. Over all it made me feel like he did not do a good job explaining to me. Did unecessary comments and tried to basically sell me their services in the end. I already spent $150 so i dont plan on spending $300 more with the same place. Thank you very much. If you decide to choose this company I would reccomand you book your test and request their female instructor for it. Otherwise you may end up with a rude employee who fails you without explaining much. So 3 stars from me because of the female instructor otherwise it would have been one. Good luck to all of you.

Fantastic experience: I stopped by to do the road test with no prior appointment and was on the road in 10 minutes! The girl who was testing me was very nice, easy to talk to and gave me clear directions. The test took about 25 minutes and I passed! Even though I ran over a curb while trying to back out of the parking lot due to being extremely nervous - I still passed! I definitely recommend this school to take your road test at because I had a great experience with them! Be careful on the roads! ;)

Negative experience: Overview of what was expected at the beginning of the drivers test was not the experience of the the actual test. Went there with three of my children and was fine however with my fourth child it was a terrible experience. the instructor "Ben" was out of line.
