Fantastic experience: The best beginners course! Coach Jason was phenomenal. He was very fair, knowledgable, and pleasant to be around. Having never touched a motorcycle before he made me feel at ease and confident even during my bloopers. Don’t listen to the bad reviews, Total Rider deserves higher scores!
Negative experience: This course is advertised as beginner-friendly with no prior experience required — that is completely misleading. The reality is that students are pressured, belittled, and even sent home after only one or two mistakes. Rather than providing support, the instructor creates a high-stress environment by yelling, pointing in students’ faces, and publicly shaming them for struggling. It felt more like hazing than a learning experience. Several students were humiliated or discouraged to the point of leaving — one woman was talked into quitting and left in tears. Another student didn’t return after the first day due to the embarrassment he experienced in front of the group. Even after completing the course and receiving my license, the instructor handed me the paperwork while saying, “You are not ready for the road,” which speaks volumes about how demoralizing this program is. If you’re looking to learn how to ride and build confidence, I strongly suggest you consider other schools. This should be a last resort — and even then, proceed with caution. I also recommend reporting any negative experiences to the Better Business Bureau, as complaints to the school itself are ignored.
Fantastic experience: Took the BRC class twice within the past two weeks. Both times, Jason was my Instructor. I had never operated a motorcycle before at all. I definitely recommend the course as it teaches you some good skills for every day riding. But, I'd double recommend the course with Jason. He is very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and teaches you how to complete the course to the absolute best of his ability and yours. The class was fun, although hot with no shade. So, if you do take the course be double sure to bring plenty of cold water to drink and some quick snacks. All in all it was a great experience and I have no regrets taking this course.....twice!
Negative experience: This school cuts corners when it comes to curriculum and when I brought it up to them they said I was just mad. They also don't train you for the full time they have listed. My class ended 1.5 hours early because the instructor had some place to be.
Fantastic experience: Jason was absolutely phenomenal. He was professional, knowledgeable, and a fantastic teacher. He really helped ease all of our nerves, especially those of us that had never been on a bike before. I would recommend a class with him specifically to anyone. You’ll have a good time, learn a lot, and feel so much more confident about your riding abilities.
