Motorcycle Rider Training: Reviews
Fantastic experience: We took the safety course this past weekend and learned so much. 8/10 people in our group were together. We had a mix of new riders, never been on a bike riders and some with experience. We ALL learned something and we all passed, thanks to the instructor’s guidance, constructive criticism and patience. The bikes we were on were old, but well maintained and made for a perfect learning bike that was small and easily managed. We all had our mishaps, but the instructors did a good job explaining what we did wrong. I love the fact that before each exercise they explained it, then one instructor would jump on a bike and show us what we should be doing, and then pull up on that bike and show us closely how they handled the bike. It gave us the perfect learning opportunity from all angles. I’m glad we got to go through MRT as I have heard horror stories of other safety courses in the area and the instructors really care about the safety that they are teaching us.
Negative experience: I had to drive from Fort Wayne to Peru because they have no classes in Fort Wayne now. I was to meet at 6am in the dark. The address was the wrong address. Nobody else could find it so we waited until a guy showed up and made us follow him to an abandoned parking lot. Their motorcycles are about 35 years old, not joking. They’re junk. The bike I was given had a bad clutch and died. The “sidekick” said, “Oh yeah that’s the bike that needs fixed” and the instructor walked over and said, it’ll be just fine. The instructor was worse than the drill Sargent from Full Metal Jacket. I have bad ADHD. He told me to stop putting my hands on the steering wheel even though the bike was off. I was trying to concentrate on the difficult instructions and wasn’t paying attention therefore to him. He got in my face and SCREAMED right in face!!!! Remember, I paid in full for this class. They would take tiny little cones all over the parking lot so I was confused on which one to do first or second because they had 6-8 setup and they all looked the same. I’ve ridden racing 4 wheelers for years so I know how a clutch works. I complained about my bike and I was told to shut up. Why couldn’t they give me a different bike because I paid with MY money so I should get to choose the bike, not them. I skated by each obstacle when I wanted to tell them that all their damn courses look the same because they used Dollar Tree markers and setup way too many courses at once. I got to the last obstacle which was doing a pretty sharp U turn and exiting like a figure 8. There’s a professional motorcycle driver on YouTube that went to a course just to see how good he still was. He did fine but the instructor told him to try doing the U turn in 2nd gear because your bike won’t be as shaky and you can be more smooth on the clutch. So, at practice I was failing the U turn because I had a worthless bike with a bad clutch so it was jerky. So, I remembered the YouTube instructor and I did the U turn in 2nd gear and it worked!! So much better than 1st gear. I thought I passed and then found out we had to do everything one time for the instructor. I came into the U turn and did it fine but my points were docked and I was yelled at for not doing it in first gear. Why does it matter??!! I did it, that’s what matters!! He forced me to do it in 1st gear and I couldn’t. So, after wasting all day being treated like crap, out hundreds of dollars plus a hotel room and food, because they’ve advertised for years that they’re looking for a place in Fort Wayne. Not true. They’re trying to get customers from Fort Wayne like me. I went to Ehlerding and asked a bunch of questions. I learned that I would be driving a Harley. The guy promised to not yell at me and he also said there’s nothing wrong at all with doing a U Turn in 2nd gear. I easily passed his class and passed my test. Do NOT go to this crappy place in Peru. Maybe he was going through a divorce and losing his kids because that’s the way he treated me. Don’t waste your money or time on this crappy program. I believe they were kicked out of Fort Wayne because another approved place is where they used to be.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn how to ride. At any skill level, you will learn something in the class. You might also hear some great stories from class mates.
Fantastic experience: So glad I took this class. Ed and Chris were great instructors. The instructional knowledge was second to none. They trained on actual day to day situational skills while insuring everyone stays safe. This class will help anyone no matter what your riding level is. I am a brand new rider and really needed a class like this not only for the instructional aspect but to get a better familiarization with PROPER RIDING skills. I know people that have paid twice as much and did not get half the training of this class.
Fantastic experience: Excellent class and would recommend to anyone that needs their endorsement, whether they have previous riding experience or not. I had zero riding experience coming into the class and was able to walk away confident in what I learned.
Fantastic experience: This course is great the rider coaches are there to help you. Ask questions they will help you out
Fantastic experience: They definitely taught me how to safely operate a motorcycle. I had 0 experience before the class, and I was able to see the end. However, I did fail the skilled test the first time. They let me retest, and I passed. My only complaint, which I don't know if its state recommended or what, but they had small groups read and present the book information. In theory I feel this works well, but in reality I think too many people are focused on what they're going to present, that they miss others presenting. All in all; a good experience. Darryl and Dorinda work with you, but only if you're willing to work with them and listen. Don't be afraid to do what they tell you.
Fantastic experience: I was a newbie motorcycle rider with only 2 (3 min) trips on a motorcycle, after 1 on a dirt bike in the yard just in prep for the course and I passed the riding part with flying colors due to the great instructions from our instructors. It was a very insightful course and I left feeling more confident about riding. Ed and Jacob did a great job teaching! This course is for newbies or people with experience that want more technical training and your endorsement. I highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: The trainers was the best and the experience was a good one. Even though I have been riding for many years I learned some new things
Negative experience: Don’t waste your money and time at there. Here is my story of this horrible place. Me and my two friends went there and attended the classes. We have zero experience of ridding. Even the first day of ridding, the instructor kick one of my friend out. They are not patient. My friend don’t even have a chance to take a written test. The last day, I wasn’t realize until they gave me a bike. I thought that bike was the bike that I drove on the previous day. It was a really old and broken bike. I told him to switch a bike. After then, he kicked me out. I don’t even have a chance to take the exams. There are the two students drop the bike and lost control of a bike. They keep let them attend the class. Discrimination is going on that place. My other friend is great at ridding. He said he passed the skill test easily. But, he failed at written test. So, they don’t give him anything. The people who attend the class, they came with bike. They already knew about driving. If you are new and beginner, I don’t recommend for this class. In my group, there is 10 people. Four people failed. So, its only 60 percent of passing. If you failed one of the test, you automatically failed the course. Don’t waste your money and time there.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic truthful trainers. Not afraid to tell you what you need to work on and then help give you tips to get it right. This course is not a easy A. But helps beginners like me learn the basics and be safe. You listen to what they are telling you and focus you can earn your endorsement too. I had huge doubts about even trying and so happy I did. Thank you to Pam and Chriss.
Fantastic experience: I love this place! I went from knowing absolutely nothing about cycles and being very nervous to feeling fairly confident and walked out of the BMV after the three courses with my endorsement!!! Instructors were totally focused on me acquiring the basic skills to be a competent rider.
Fantastic experience: I took the Basic Rider Course and think this is an excellent class for someone new to riding, or someone who has some experience but needs to get their endorsement or wants the insurance discount. This course teaches all of the basic fundamentals of riding, and riding safely. I would absolutely recommend this course, especially for $100 when some can cost up to $300.
Fantastic experience: Great instuctors and a fun time, would recommend.
Negative experience: I was turned away without refund for a skills test because I didn't have turn signals on my bike. I've done my research, asked the police department and BMV both if my bike is street legal without signals and they said I was fine. I emailed instructor and told him I'd be more than happy to bring an officer to tell him as such so I can rightfully take my test, but I got no email back. I called the other place in town that does the test and they said I'm fine. So with that said, I'm getting testing done elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: This is the best place to do your mc class fun and my instructors pam Huss and Kasie Nagy are great i would recomend this class to everyone
