Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about LORE Motorcycle Education:

LORE Motorcycle Education offers a unique experience for both novice and experienced riders. Many users have reported positive experiences, praising the supportive and knowledgeable instructors who focus on building confidence in their students. Specific instructors like Steve, Tara, Tony, and Hai have received glowing feedback for their patience and ability to adapt coaching to individual learning styles.

Students appreciated the practical, hands-on approach to learning, with many highlighting the structured exercises that build on each other, making it easier for riders to grasp essential skills. Great communication skills from instructors help in conveying complex concepts simply, ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, can learn effectively.

However, some users have raised concerns, suggesting that the course may not be suitable for absolute beginners without prior motorcycle handling experience. A few reviews indicated dissatisfaction with teaching methods, particularly regarding instructor communication styles. Some felt that additional support and personalized attention were lacking at times, which could lead to stress during the learning process.

In summary, LORE is recommended for those looking to improve their riding skills in a supportive environment, particularly for riders who already have some experience or foundation in motorcycle riding. For complete beginners, it may be beneficial to gain some preliminary experience or seek additional personalized instruction before enrolling.

Fantastic experience: I feel bad to see so many negative reviews as I had a wonderful experience here. Steve Miller Time and Princess Diana were absolutely amazing and helped me get through a rough start to my second morning, thanks to their words and coaching I passed with my full endorsement I appreciate them so much.

Fantastic experience: To find this place, you need to try. As soon as you turn onto this very street, drive along it, and the building will be on the right, as if in the depths. And there will be a large area with cones for practicing tricks.

Fantastic experience: I ride a moped but found the motorcycle experience to be a lot more challenging. I got overwhelmed a few times, and Tara, Tony, and Cathy were supportive of going at my own pace, and forever encouraging and celebrating every student's progress. I'm grateful to them, and so happy I went outside my comfort zone to get riding!!

Fantastic experience: Recently just took the course, all the instructors were very pleasant and very helpful I’ve had a little bit of experience on a motorcycle before attending the class but it was an awesome and fun experience! Josh Christina and I can’t remember the other guys name but he was from Vermont we’re hands down the nicest and most patient people and they cared a lot for our safety especially since it was raining on both days, if your looking to get your endorsement for Maine I’d highly recommend LORE. If I had an opportunity to see them again for a future course I’d gladly take it again!

Negative experience: Note: I enjoyed my classmates and the instructors but I need to write the review that I wish I would have read before attending. To be brief- The class seems tethered by liability to, what seems to be, a franchised system that emphasizes things you probably already know like, drive sober and wear a helmet but fails to even mention a laundry list of every-day motorcycle specific, real world stuff. Things like lane-splitting and riding with a passenger *all things that have been discussed in other basic riding classes that I've attend in other states. FYI The classroom section is available online for just $20 but in 5 hours it's somehow less informative than many half hour YouTube videos that I've stumbled upon. If you're a new rider, or new to the road, you'll need and should seek more extensive instruction than this. Ex, You may be lucky enough to not be hit by a truck in you first month but you will need to know how to pick up your bike without hurting your back. Like, rent a scooter and take the state exam then you'll be free to seek more extensive -and probably cheaper- formal education and practice that will help you avoid problems on the open road.

Negative experience: DO NOT use this company to learn how to ride motorcycles if you have no prior experience! I paid for and signed up for this class because I don’t have any experience riding motorcycles and wanted to learn. I was the only one in the class that didn’t have any prior experience, for the record. I was asked to leave after having difficulties with sharp turns on my first day, and being stated on line, I will not be given a refund because I was asked to leave. I was spoken to like a child by the main instructor on my first day and belittled. I’m now leaving a review to let everyone know if you are a beginner DO NOT use this company! Anyone else would be better and more patient than the instructors that work for Lore. Hell go to Harley. They were way more respectful than anyone at Lore.

Negative experience: IF YOU’RE A WOMAN, DON’T GO TO LORE. I took the rider course with Lore last fall. My dad was an avid rider when I was little and it’s always been something I wanted to do. We had two instructors, one was great. The other, Hai, was aggressive and liked to yell, A LOT, but only at myself and the other woman in the course. We were riding the same as the men. Not only did it make it not fun, but it was an unsafe, stressful learning environment. I wish I had read the other female reviews about Hai before taking the course. It would have saved me time and money. I’m going to a different school this summer, some misogynistic instructor with a Napoleon complex is not going to keep me from reaching my riding goals. See you on the open road ; )

Fantastic experience: All around excellent experience. I had had a license years ago and really was annoyed at having to take this but learned things I had not thought about in the past. Instructor's were great and made the whole time a fun learning experience. I would say as a tip for those that have literally never touched a motorcycle you might want to at least go over some basics if you have a friend that has one.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this course for any bikers. The way the course was taught was extremely helpful for new riders because it started with the basics, then worked up to build on each skill gradually. The instructions were great at giving specific pointers for what each rider needed to improve on for each skill. I will take the skills and lessons I learned during the class with me on each ride. Thank you Hai, Frederick, and Barbara!

Fantastic experience: This course is so good for anyone looking to drive a motorcycle. The knowledge and compassion these teachers have is outstanding. They worked diligently with me on different occasions and even though I didn’t leave the class with my license I took the knowledge they taught me and within just 5 weeks of having my permit I took my driving test with DMV and got my license. Thank you everyone for your compassion and lessons on everything. I take everything you have taught me on the road with me every time I’m on my bike.

Fantastic experience: Was nervous at first but the instructors care a lot about you and want to make sure you get things right. Had a lot of fun and there’s no reason to stress over anything, takes practice to learn new things

Negative experience: Was very disappointed with comments made to me by instructor and the frustration from them as well. I didn't appreciate that time was cut by leaving almost 2 hours early on day one and day two was to arrive a hour later. Missed out on time being taught. And the statement "Go at your pace" as taught in video and told by teachers in class and on course, if felt is completely inaccurate. Im a brand new rider and needed a little extra time vs being rushed through each exercise. The whole experience wasn't a good one and a total loss of $400.00.

Fantastic experience: Excellent instruction from engaging and entertaining educators. I have never ridden a motorcycle before, and after two days of drills I feel confident that, at a minimum, I can safely get around. I happened to be in the class with the previous reviewer, and her comments are untrue. There was no yelling, etc... simply an inability to balance on the motorcycle. Hai, Barb, and John were excellent and supportive all the way through the class. Hoping to take more classes with them in the future.

Negative experience: If I could give a zero I would. If you enjoy being yelled at by instructors and being laughed at by classmates for not catching on as quickly for others this is the company and class for you. I was given the option to drop out or be kicked out. Everyone else in the class had experience and the instructors were pushing more to cut class time than take the extra time with people that needed it. Even when offered more money for one on one at another time/date. I called the office and they said they'd have the owner reach out to me about a refund. The owner called me and focused more on putting me down for lack of experience and said the instructors weren't the issue. I was told this was a beginners course. The instructor yelled at me while operating the bike so I panicked and dumped it. The instructor continued to yell at me. Avoid this company at all costs. If you truly want to learn to ride do it elsewhere. This is the worst experience I've ever had in my life. Not only has it sucked the fun out of wanting to ride my own bike, I'll never get on a bike again even as a passenger. Thank you Barbie, Hai and John for ruining something so fun and exciting.

Fantastic experience: This is my 2nd class with Lore at Biddeford. I was unable to finish the first class due to a health issue. I drooped out on 2nd day for medical, and Lore re scheduled me. Instructors in both classes were good, informative, and talked loud enough so we could hesr over our bikes engines. They want students to succeed but will wash out somebody not safe to ride. I highly recomment Lore. Instructors in both classes are very good

Negative experience: I think this could be a good course if you get good instructors and a functioning bike from the beginning especially if you have some knowledge and are already comfortable on a bike. It’s definitely more for auditory learners you are told how to do something once and you’re expected to understand from that point for us hands on learners doing it a few times to practice is not an option. You get to try an exercise 2 times that’s it and the second you mess up the gentleman leading the class would scream or make unnecessary remarks. It may be how some people learn but that certainly was not for me. If you want to learn or have any sort or encouragement about riding I do not recommend the class. I think they should offer a class thats less pressure, a beginners course where the only expectation is to learn. Due to the nature of offering permits etc it was rushed. I’m a quick learner but the course seemed to be set against me from the beginning. I started with a bike and we were learning the very basics I understood and was just getting use to it however the bike kept shutting down, mind you this was the section where we were to get a feel for the bike learn how to use the buttons etc. It was frustrating and when it would shut off it lead to holding other people up which was very annoying. Finally into the next section they switched out my bike (they did say it was the bike not me) however I was expected to be as smooth on it as the bike before but everything for knobs/switches was in a different place or had a different mechanism. It was really frustrating as each time anyone made a small slip up he would be screaming. For me personally that does not help me learn it makes me worse so it became unenjoyable very quickly. It was a shame because I know I really like it. Had I known I was paying $350 to be read a manual showed how to do it once, only have a time or two to practice all while being yelled at ... I certainly would not have done it. I feel like a more accurate representation of the class should be made. If they want to have more riders in that class performing well from the beginning they should have a basics course and bikes that function properly. Disappointed in the class I left early and I wasn’t the only one - most adults would not pay to be yelled at like a child for a new hobby they are trying to learn (the yelling wasn’t all safety related which I would understand). If you have experience, and work well from auditory directions and don’t mind being yelled at not taught then I’d recommend this class. Props to Diana who was the co-instructor she was a much better teacher, unfortunately I spent most of my time with the other guy. I’ll be practicing on a friends bike and retaking the class at another location.

Fantastic experience: Couldn't ask for a better course. Majority of the class is on asphalt learning actually useful skills while being quizzed on your knowledge between evolutions. The entire course is organized and well thought out.

Fantastic experience: Holy smokes! I learned a lot and had even more fun! Instructors were amazing and made sure to explain everything clearly and made it super fun! They had an extreme amount of patients despite teaching this course for years and I would absolutely recommend this to a friend as it was recommend to me.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing course with even more amazing instructors!!! Josh and John were the best riding coaches you could ask for they are positive upbeat guys that give you the feedback and constructive criticism needed without creating a stressful riding experience. Barbra was outstanding going over course material while having a realistic level headed teaching style that also eases your nerves. Your skills will improve dramatically in a two day course, Could not be more impressed. I wish I could give them a 6th star!

Fantastic experience: As a car driver that has never rode a motorcycle, dirt bike, or scooter I am incredibly proud of what I learned in this course. Not only were Josh and Barb supportive from the start but they never made me feel incompetent about my lack of experience. It is absolutely the support of my coaches that influenced the amount of information I learned. I will be recommending this group to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Amazing and very professional coaches to help all skill levels excel in this class. Hai is an amazing coach and his knowledge and patience have made this course top notch and one I’d recommend to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Review of day 1 - expected (as in most classes) to sit and listen to lectures for 75% of the time. I was thrilled to find the instructors getting us on the bikes almost immediately. The exercises are carefully thought out to build on each other. The instructors are personable but push you to keep improving at every stage. So far, it’s exceeded my expectations greatly! Day 2 was equally great! Very glad I went with LORE. Instructors were fun and kind, but also pushed you constantly to be your best. Even after ending the class, I can still here them coaching me! :) Very appreciative!

Fantastic experience: Very professionally conducted. The information was given clearly and the steps were made simple. The staff is incredibly supportive and even though it is a lot of information it is presented easily and makes it so you can understand and comprehend otherwise complicated instructions and actions. 10/10

Fantastic experience: Barbra and Hai where great to work with. Very knowledgeable and where not afraid to give constructive feed back which I feel is very important when you are trying to learn a skill. They made the class fun and Hai's quirkiness kept me entertained and focused. High energy! Really glad I went through the weekend education with those two. There was an immediate difference in my ability to ride my 600cc Gsx-r the next day to work. Would recommend this school and location to anyone. Thanks Barbra and Hai! Hope to see you out on the road.

Positive experience: Lots of information, maybe too much for 15 hours. The instructors take the time to work with you at your pace and comfort level. I like how one of the coaches gave positive feedback along with an encouragement to try adding in another aspect; other was focusing on negative feedback and added to the stress of learning

Gabby Bisson 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Barbara, Hai, and Josh were awesome!!! If you want to learn how to ride properly they will show you with patience, encouragement, and discipline. They will make you want it and help you get it. Could not of asked for a better experience.

Fantastic experience: For those first time riders looking for a safety class to get your license, look no further. The instruction provided in this course was clear and constructive with a focus on building defensive riding skills. After two days our class had learned the basics on bike maneuvering, throttle/clutch control and advanced obstacle avoidance. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to learn and hone their skills, whether you're starting out or have ridden for 5+ years!

Andrew Gonnella 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Instructors were great, class moved at a good pace, much more time on the bikes than sitting in the classroom. Since you don't have a choice but to take the MMSEC class if you want to ride in this state, I highly recommend taking this one. Left the weekend feeling much more confident and capable, and much less likely to crash and burn on my new bike.

Shayne Correia 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: Had an awesome experience, way better than I had initially imagined. Even if you're a beginner, the instructors make it super easy to get riding. The instructors also clearly cared about making sure everyone passes, even went above and beyond with some 1 on 1 work with one of the students. Great job guys, definitely would recommend.

Justin Richardson 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: The Basic Rider Course is an excellent course that will teach you the proper way to ride. I've been riding a little before the class, but felt fairly uncomfortable on my bike. After taking the course I feel very confident on my bike. The day after the course I took a long ride and loved it! Instructors Willie and Terry are amazing. They know their stuff when it comes to motorcycle riding. After a few years on the bike I'd love to take an advanced riding course with Willie. I know the BRC is mandatory in the State of Maine, but if it wasn't I would still recommend that all new riders take this course through Lore!

Diane Baptie 7 years ago

Negative experience: Terrible I went through 5 motorcycles for various break down. Reasons as a new rider it was terrible the first words out of a instructor was “ I don’t want her in my group” related to I have never driven a standard and it made it worse every change of of a bike . Looking for my money back or another opportunity to work with professional instructors with bikes not breaking .
