Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about 160 Driving Academy of Cincinnati:
A Fast-Track Path to Your CDL Career
160 Driving Academy of Cincinnati offers an intensive four-week program designed to prepare students for the Class A CDL exam with a strong emphasis on safety and professional readiness. The academy leverages a dedicated student application for real-time feedback and personalized analysis, supporting a curriculum that aims to equip graduates with the skills needed for a competitive salary in the transportation sector. While some locations also offer Class B certifications and Hazmat endorsements, the core focus remains on transforming beginners into confident, job-ready commercial drivers.
Highly Rated Instructors and Supportive Staff
The most consistent praise from alumni centers on the exceptional quality of the teaching staff. Instructors such as Joe, Dennis, Keith, Brad, Chris, and Oskar are frequently highlighted for their patience, deep industry knowledge, and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure student success. Many reviews describe the staff as friendly, down-to-earth, and incredibly helpful, creating an environment where asking questions is encouraged. This personal touch is often credited with helping students overcome initial nerves and build the confidence necessary to pass their tests.
Hands-On Training and Peer Learning
The training methodology combines classroom theory with significant practical application. Students benefit from a collaborative learning environment where groups work together, critiquing each other’s maneuvers and supporting one another through the challenges of operating large vehicles. While the training involves rigorous practice in the yard and on the road, the academy emphasizes a "self-motivated" approach. Instructors provide the tools and initial guidance, but students are expected to take ownership of their learning, practicing extensively to master pre-trip inspections and driving techniques. This intensive, hands-on style has resulted in many students passing their exams on their first attempt.
Realistic Conditions and Student Responsibility
Prospective students should note that the training takes place in a realistic, outdoor environment. The yard is unpaved, and training occurs in all weather conditions, which some describe as a "dust bowl" or challenging due to heat and cold. This setup is intended to mimic real-world trucking conditions, ensuring that graduates are tough and adaptable. However, this also means the experience is not for everyone; it requires physical stamina and a proactive attitude. While some reviews mention logistical issues or older vehicles at certain branches, the majority of students appreciate the authentic, no-nonsense training that prepares them for the demands of the trucking industry.

Positive experience: They will help teach you the basics of passing your cdl exam. Nothing more, nothing less. You will start out in groups of 4-5 new people. It seemed like each week there was new group of people starting. The trainers will show you once or twice how to do a certain maneuver in the yard and after that, it’s pretty much up to you to teach yourself. Luckily I had a good group of people I started with so we all helped each other out and critiqued ourselves in the yard. They say you get 10 full hours of behind the wheel time on the road which is a complete lie, I got more like 6 hours of road time. But in the end I was able to pass my cdl exam and that is all that matters. Overall it’s a good school but I think I could have gotten some more hands on training one on one with the trainers more for price I paid to attend this school.

Fantastic experience: It's a great school very hands-on and I really loved how the working with the instructors great school would highly recommend and Joe was a great help
Negative experience: This is a scam. They say the state requires 120-160 hours to get your CDL-A. That's an absolute lie! There's a school at the Batavia, OH test site that is 2 weeks long and $3500 and you get your license. I would never recommend this school. The only positive thing is the instructors are cool.
