Positive experience: They will help teach you the basics of passing your cdl exam. Nothing more, nothing less. You will start out in groups of 4-5 new people. It seemed like each week there was new group of people starting. The trainers will show you once or twice how to do a certain maneuver in the yard and after that, it’s pretty much up to you to teach yourself. Luckily I had a good group of people I started with so we all helped each other out and critiqued ourselves in the yard. They say you get 10 full hours of behind the wheel time on the road which is a complete lie, I got more like 6 hours of road time. But in the end I was able to pass my cdl exam and that is all that matters. Overall it’s a good school but I think I could have gotten some more hands on training one on one with the trainers more for price I paid to attend this school.

Negative experience: This is a scam. They say the state requires 120-160 hours to get your CDL-A. That's an absolute lie! There's a school at the Batavia, OH test site that is 2 weeks long and $3500 and you get your license. I would never recommend this school. The only positive thing is the instructors are cool.

Fantastic experience: The instructors were awesome! They were patient, down to earth and helpful thru the whole training. And believe me, i needed HELP! There is no such thing as a dumb question and they mean that here! Your first morning you may feel you're among strangers but by lunch time you're among a rock solid team where everyone helps one another!!

Fantastic experience: Someone coming with no trucking background coming to this academy has giving me the confidence and can do this attitude for my CDL’s. The instructors are very knowledgeable and have on road life experience. They supply you with the knowledge, give you the space, on hand if/when needed and it’s up to you to succeed. Great experience!!

Fantastic experience: They have been short on trainers lately. However, the trainers that have been present are very knowledgeable and personable. It is not a school for babysitting, students attending this school should be self motivated. They give you the tools to succeed and they leave it to you to use them.

Fantastic experience: Ok let me start off by saying it's not what I expected as far as training grounds. ok. gravel all the way around, porter potty outside, you know small stuff per say to a person's view. but I will say this, Keith, Brad, Chris, and Oskar are all fantastic trainers. They know what they are talking about when it comes to a Semi listen to what they have to say. yes they all teach differently, but I guarantee you by the end of your training, YOU WILL KNOW HOW TO PRE TRIP, AND DRIVE. if you don't like being outside in the sun and on your feet all day, then find somewhere else to go. other classes are there(1 week, 2weeks, 3 weeks.) everyone was friendly and helpful. you learn by not only the instructors but also by bouncing off the students there as well. is it consistency no but you will have it down packed by the time you leave. don't get discouraged or panicked. if you need help, Keith, Chris, Brad and Oskar ARE THERE TO HELP YOU. DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK THEM FOR HELP OR TO GO OVER ANYTHING. I was absolutely nerve wrecked on my day one, but immediately Keith helped me to just calm down and so did Brad. just remember, if you want your CDLs, you must put in the work as well. just because you don't think the conditions are nice or it's not to your liking, then obviously you don't want it that bad. Do your homework. practice at home, on the road in your car, at work, wherever you are. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. WORK FOR WHAT YOU WANT. GET OUT THERE EVERYDAY WHILE YOU ARE HERE AND FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THESE TRUCKS. YOU WANT TO CONVERSATE FINE, BUT DO WHAT YOU CAME TO DO, GET YOURSELF READY TO BE A CDL HOLDER. AGAIN , I THANK KEITH(BIG MAN ON CAMPUS), BRAD( FUNNY LAID BACK GUY), CHRIS( AWESOME TEDDY BEAR GUY) AND OSKAR( THE KNOWLEDGE BEAST). for all the wonderful info they provide.

Positive experience: 160 Academy Cincinnati is for previous truck drivers it will be easy but for beginners you must have a quick learning attitude: 2 instructors in classroom give a quick refresher for written test and then 2-3 instructors will help you practice passing the test in the truck Yard until your final day to test with their truck to get or renew your CDL. The classroom instructors aren't trained to adjust instructions that cater to different individuals, its a one size fit all, that's in the classroom or online instructors are a hot mess, was kind of unorganized: However in the yard which is an outdoor classroom=Port-o-potty and picnic tables, only thing missing is a barbecue=YOU ARE OUTDOORS no exceptions. So by that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the outdoor extremes of rain with no real shelter and that cold was horrible for pre-trip inspections...but 5 stars for very close to real with a trucking company. Yard instructors teach great especially "Jim" he is the best & then there is Tiny" in Cincinnati, really knows how to cut the icing and get to the cake of learning and the focus of passing the CDL test as well as Tiny who is a dear sweetheart & drill drill drill on corrections, he won't let up but that is good. I give them all in the yard a thumbs up, Ray a little rough but trucking is a rough industry so if you cannot take Ray's approach then you might not be fit for trucking. I give the classroom a thumbs down!

Negative experience: I got my CDL A Permit back in March, and I applied for this school in April or May of this year. I ignored the reviews and have literally invested my last into getting my license, transportation, daycare, etc. situated, so I can start school. I’ve been offered a good amount of jobs, which I have turned down because I was under the impression that it could take up to 2 months MAXIMUM, to start. My permit expires next month and I am still waiting to start this school. I’m no longer holding my breath. This school seems very unorganized and unprofessional, so I’m not convinced that it will be any different after beginning the course.

Negative experience: Stay away from them one of the worest school ever , I joined this school after i fooled with the reviews online which i discovered that it’s related to another branches not the one in cinncinati , they have 3 truck you’ll not get enough training you’ll stay the whole day so you can take 10 min over the wheel , instructer was rude and when i complained that they have 3 old trucks and too many student and am not coming everyday for 10 or 15 min over the wheel , yael israel the OM told me you wanna take money back or continue i request to take my money i was paying $4750 cash in advance and they return to me $2000 For 3 days in the driving 10 min everyday so i was staying there every day 8 hours in the sun just to took 10 or 15 min driving. They just open this branch from 6 months and i got shocked while i was in the training period when i heard that they celebrate with the 1st graduate after 5 months from opening so i took the $2000 and i got real training in another school and got my license a piece of cake If you’re in cincinati i would recommend to contact Napier or butler tech

Negative experience: As I've known that this school couldn't have most of students successfully graduated and gotten their CDLs after the scheduled 4 weeks or 160 hours study and training. Some students disappeared and quit their study and training. In order to get driving skill practice, some students have to stick there for several months, but were still hard in their CDls tests in BMV. The school didn't follow the training contract and give students enough time and chances for their necessary driving skill training and road driving practice. The trucks used for training students were very old and often couldn't work normally, and they often need to be fixed. One road training instructor was picky and rude, and didn't speak standard English. as well .
