Negative experience: They sell a package and it seems booking driving is never possible. It is frustrating and I would NOT recommend this to anyone.

Fantastic experience: We are grateful for quality instructors like Brad Walse in the Western Springs office. He made it possible for James to finish his 8 drives within his original time period by joining this team. He gave James great encouragement and feedback on his drives and gave him the confidence to be ready for his driving test. Negative experience: Wish I could have enrolled our son but a terrible customer service experience over the phone chased us away. If I ask to speak with a supervisor, I don't see why they couldn't pass me over... I could do without the gatekeeping.

This does not sound at all like the typical interactions of our Customer Service agents so we would appreciate more information about your situation. Negative experience: Sold us a training package with eight drive time lessons. Not enough instructors to fulfill our contract. My daughter's new driver's license will be delayed by months. One year is too long to complete driver training. She began class August 2021, scheduling drive time is near impossible. She has not missed or rescheduled ANY drive times she has been able to secure. We are scheduled to finish November 2022 and counting... She needs one more drive time slot. Our older daughter scheduled her drive time and received her license on time, I don't know what went wrong with this company but it has been a nightmare. Hire more driving instructors, or sell less packages.
Without knowing more information about you or your daughter's account it is difficult to reply to your comments. Negative experience: Classwork was ok, but scheduling lessons is nearly impossible - they clearly have way more students than can be supported with in car lessons. If you enroll here, have fun checking the website 10 times a day, every day hoping someone can cancel so you can get a lesson in. Even if you try and get lessons the second they get released, it is hit or miss. Go somewhere else - that alone makes it not worth it. Edit with response- We never cancelled a lesson, ever. I had to grab lessons whenever I could find them, often with terrible times at top driver locations no where close to me. During my daily attempt to find times on the website, occasionally I found locations and times that weren’t as horrible and swapped them. Please let the reviewers know how many open time slots are open in the next two months right now. I really need to reschedule her last appointment to go to a wedding and can’t. Calling is useless. I stand by my earlier statement. Before you send your kid here ask them how many open slots are available at whatever location you are signing up for. I’ve gotten to see many parts of Chicago I never wanted to in order to get the required driving time.
Mr. Melchiors, we are happy that your daughter had a positive classroom experience - our instructor team in Western Springs is one of the best. Due to the many students who chose not to schedule their driving lessons over the last year we indeed had a backlog once they finally decided to complete their program. As a company we did many things to increase the number of instructor behind the wheel hours including cancelling classes, putting several additional programs on pause, investing heavily in recruiting and our managers have been out in the field as well conducting lessons.
When I review your daughter's account it appears she is on track to complete her program within the 9 month timeframe even though she cancelled several lessons. Best of luck to her and we wish you and the entire family a lifetime of safe, intelligent driving.
Fantastic experience: Top Driver was a great program for our son. The online classes were informative and easy to navigate. My son truly enjoyed his in person driving lessons with John. He was a very knowledgeable instructor who provided a calm learning environment and helpful feedback. Fantastic experience: My daughter doesn't take to people too quickly, so I was very nervous as to how her driving experience with Top Driver was going to go. Needless to say, my worries were in vain. Fantastic experience: I had Mr. Beedie for my classroom hours and all of my drives, and had a fantastic experience! Mr. Beedie as well as all of the customer service staff and other instructors were very helpful and attentive to anything I needed. During my drives, I would get easy to understand, specific feedback of things I needed to work on. And, even when I made a mistake, Mr. Beedie wouldn't get mad at me, he would just point it out POLITELY and we would continue to chat; I never felt discouraged by anything he said about my driving. Overall, I had a great experience at Top Driver, and would highly recommend them to anyone considering taking drivers ed outside of their high school!!
