Experienced Instructors and Rigorous, Real-World Training
DCS School of Driving has established itself as a premier institution for aspiring commercial drivers in Pennsylvania, offering a comprehensive 200-hour program that blends theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience. Founded in 2009, the school is renowned for its highly experienced instructors, particularly David and Bob, who are frequently praised by students for their patience, deep industry knowledge, and dedication to safety. The curriculum is designed not just to help students pass their tests, but to prepare them for a successful and long-term career in the trucking industry, with many graduates reporting immediate employment with major carriers.
Flexible Scheduling and In-House Testing Convenience
Understanding the demanding lives of its students, DCS offers flexible class schedules, including both day and evening options, allowing working professionals and parents to pursue their CDL without sacrificing their income. A significant advantage for many students is the convenience of taking their CDL road tests with certified examiners on-site. This eliminates the need to travel to external testing centers, streamlining the certification process and providing a familiar environment during the final assessment.
Hands-On Learning with Standard Equipment
Students consistently highlight the school's commitment to teaching the fundamentals of manual transmission driving. DCS utilizes standard shift equipment, ensuring that graduates are proficient in the art of driving heavy trucks with manual gearboxes. The training includes ample time in the yard and on the road, covering complex maneuvers such as backing a tractor-trailer and parallel parking. Instructors are known for providing personalized attention in small class sizes, offering extra guidance and real-world survival tips that go beyond the basic requirements of the state test.
- Comprehensive Curriculum: A 200-hour course covering both classroom theory and extensive behind-the-wheel practice.
- Top-Rated Instructors: Staff members like David, Bob, and Chris are commended for their expertise, patience, and professional demeanor.
- On-Site Testing: Certified third-party examiners are available at the facility for convenient CDL testing.
- Career Support: Strong connections with local and national transportation companies help graduates secure jobs quickly.
- Flexible Payment Plans: Affordable tuition with transparent financing options and no hidden fees.
A Professional Environment Focused on Competence
While the training is rigorous and demands a high level of commitment and attention to detail, this is widely viewed by students as a strength rather than a drawback. The school maintains high standards to ensure that every graduate is a safe and competent driver. The owner, Chris, and the instructional team are noted for their integrity and for treating students with respect, even when correcting mistakes. For those willing to put in the effort, DCS School of Driving provides a solid foundation for a rewarding career in commercial driving.

Fantastic experience: I attended DCS in May of 2024. At first I was not entirely sure how it was going to go. I came into class already having a Class B CDL I was just upgrading to a class A. After my first meeting with the owner(Chris) I knew I wanted to go there for school. I loved that they had all standard shift equipment keeping the art of driving alive. Once class started you jumped right into the book work. I could tell from the beginning that the instructors knew what they were talking about and were well experienced in the field of truck driving. Already having some experience driving class B vehicles I had a little bit of an easier time on the book work side of the class, however if you pay attention and participate in the classroom it will be no problem to pass all of the necessary testing to graduate but also to have a successful and safe driving career. As far as yard time and on road instruction I feel this was done in as safe of a way as possible. Any time you take students who have never handled a truck and or trailer it can be a little unnerving for both student and instructor. So long as the student pays attention and listens to instruction all goes smoothly. Learning to drive TT is dangerous business so attention to detail is necessary for success. So PAY ATTENTION AND LISTEN. I feel as though this schooling and training prepared me well to be able to pass road tests with employers and start a career in the trucking industry. Not only did the instructors teach you how to drive well, they also give you advice on interviewing and types of jobs you can get after graduating. The instructors are all no nonsense real drivers with experience and knowledge. They all get 5/5 from me. I’d recommend this school to anyone who has common sense, a willingness to do what it takes to learn, and to actually study and do the work necessary to obtain the knowledge. Instructors at this school will act as many employers in the industry.. they’re not going to hold your hand and lead you to success without you doing the work. If you’re lazy and looking for an easy time where you are given everything, this ain’t the school for you. If you want to actually do the work and earn it, you’ll love this place. If I had to pick schools again, I’d choose this one every time.
Negative experience: Do not waist your time with this school. There are other organizations that offer better when is come to in class learning. The instructors are a joke. Dave and Chris are worthless. I was told by one of the instructors that I didn't deserve to have my CDL's, that's not something a instructor should say to a student who I learning or is challenged by something new. Dave is all about friends and if you are on his good side than you are golden, of you are a student who is having trouble he will treat you like you don't belong. The school worked with me and bu I felt the expectation of my success was low. I got my CLD by going to another organization to take my road test (that should tell you something there) and I was successful. DCS told me I wasn't cut out to drive but another examiner told me I had what it takes to drive. Do yourself a favor do your research first and go with a school who's staff aren't douchebags. DCS just wants your money so if you aren't on their good side they will try to fill you or put in a bus rather than helping you get your class A. Knowledge is power. Everyone's experience will differ I'm just sharing my experience.
This is an individual who should not be on the road. Definitely not in a truck, probably not in a car. Normally a student needs no more than 20 hours on the road and 24 hours in the yard to be ready to test.
This student required over 40 hours in the yard. After nearly 16 weeks (we allowed him to come back because he was struggling so much) he still doesn't know the names of his instructors -- 'Chris' doesn't even teach the evening class. (He will probably edit his review, but the original says "The instructors are a joke. Dave and Chris are worthless.")
Any individual that attends class for 16 weeks and can't be bothered to learn their instructors' names -- you can guess how well they were actually paying attention in class.
If the person who told this individual that they didn't deserve their license is who I believe it is - the one who he couldn't be bothered to learn his name - this is an instructor with over 30 years over the road, millions of safe miles of driving, and an entire binder filled with accolades from his time instructing with one of the most successful national carriers in the US. If a guy like this tells someone that they don't deserve a license, that is coming from someone who KNOWS what he is talking about.
As for what it tells you that he went to another location... It tells you that he could not pass a test with a State Certified Third Party Examiner. This was an individual trained to administer Driving Tests, NOT ONE OF OUR INSTRUCTORS, that confirmed that he should not be driving a truck. He did get one point correct: We did try to help him get his Bus license so that he would be able to have a Class B and get work. But as they say, no good deed goes unpunished and a perfect example of blaming others instead of taking responsibility for your actions.
If you come to DCS expecting that we will just hand over a license and put you on the road with 80,000 pounds behind you, driving next to people's families over mountains and in bad weather... then yes, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. If you are looking to learn what it means to be a real driver, not just a steering wheel holder, and you are willing to listen and to learn and put forth the effort needed to be really good at a very difficult job, then we want to be the ones to help you do that.
Positive experience: Dcs school of trucking was a success. Both our instructors, Dave and Bob were to amazing gentlemen the knowledge that we received while there was just fantastic. They believed in us just as we believed in ourselves we were determined to get through this corse. Dave I appreciate everything you’ve taught me and all the extra time you allowed me to get behind the wheel. I will take what I learned to the next level. Bob I learned so many survival tips and techniques from you that we learned that I might be able to pass along to help others. Despite being in the freezing weather outside we made it to the end. Once again I thank you Dave and Bob job well done!
Fantastic experience: very patient, very good school lots of experience and survival tips, i will suggest this DCS school to anyone that wants to learn.
Fantastic experience: great school, night class instructors David and Bob are the best instructors you could ask for.
