Hutto Driving School

Negative experience: This school makes it impossible to schedule the driving sessions they promise. After a year, my son has been able to go out once out of an offered 7 sessions. Absolutely would not recommend.

Negative experience: It's great that Hutto has their own driving school. However, it is a little pricey, especially when it takes months to get the driving portion scheduled due to lack of staff. Got students signed up last year but this month is the first time one of them were able to get driving scheduled. Also, hours are not conducive to school schedules. At this point, it's too late and we'll have to do most of the driving as self-taught just so our students can get their license before their 18th birthday.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this driving school to anyone looking to learn how to drive. My kiddo passed his driving test on the first try and couldn't be happier with our experience at hutto driving school. And the customer service is on point!

The instructors were not only patient, but also very knowledgeable and thorough in their teaching. They truly care about their students' safety on the road and provide the best information and training to ensure that. Fantastic experience: This was the best experience for a drivers school program for my daughter. I recommend this school for anyone. They’re so sweet, great with communicating and understanding and very helpful. They really are a 5 star company. Truly awesome.

Negative experience: Natalie over the phone was super pleasant. I was ready to book an appointment for my daughter to get private lessons. Before I called I read all the reviews of there staffing issues but decided to give them a chance anyway. Those reviews were not lying at all! There staffing issues are atrocious. “One staff member is out because of a family issue”. They don’t know when they will be back. “The other staff member is taking next week off so they won’t be available” and then when they do have availability it’s during school hours which would mean my teenager would have to miss school to attend. I’m sorry but as a business owner I don’t know how you can run a business like this. How confusing this phone call was!

Fantastic experience: I enrolled my son into this school as a friend highly recommended it. I am so glad I signed him up to do a 3 lesson adult class. The instructors were amazing, they really made him feel confident and poised behind the wheel. He really needed practice with parking most of all. Glad to say he took his road test and nailed it!! Thank you so much for all your help!

Negative experience: I won't recommend it to anyone.. They keep cancelling the lessons and ask you to reschedule it which is inconvenient to anyone.. Another thing is they have very limited spots. so, it's very difficult to book a spot convenient for you. No value of customers.. I had a class scheduled at 1 pm and the instructor cancelled it at 12.30.. They are not serious about their business.. Very bad experience.

Negative experience: So I’ve been trying to get in touch with these people and they never respond. My daughter has her Permit and now we are going to phase two the driving part, I need more info on your 14 hour behind the wheel. Could someone help

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Hutto Driving School!!! Before going there, my daughter did the parent taught drivers ed. She needed additional support, and HDS offered us the supplemental teen course. After the first lesson, we had a much more confident and happier driver. The same happened over the next 2 lessons. Then she took the driving test there. She worked with 3 instructors, and they were all so patient and thoughtful in teaching her more road skills. My next driver will be doing 100% the driver’s ed course there. It’s an amazing program!

Fantastic experience: We were very happy with our decision to go with Hutto driving school. Their communication was great, they worked with our multi- family household, and they really held our young learner responsible and treated him like a young adult. He loved the feedback and praise that came from someone other than parents after his behind the wheel lessons. The classroom portion was easy to knock out in a month, and the behind the wheel was flexible so we could fit it into our busy schedule. Would definitely recommend and will use again with our next kiddo!

Fantastic experience: My daughter enjoyed her time learning to drive here. The instructors were very patient and always told her what she did or didn’t do so she could learn. Well worth the money

Negative experience: My wife had signed up for "BTW 7 hrs + Road Test". Ultimately she couldn't complete the course because there were no slots open for scheduling a road test via Hutto Driving School. Ha! Their website quotes "Don't want to wait for an appointment at DPS to get your license? Now you don't have to! Hutto Driving School is now authorized to offer the Road Test." Based on our experience, the wait time at Hutto Driving school is much worse than trying to get an appointment at a DPS yourself. There are many advantages to ditching the "Road Test" option they offer. 1. DPS locations have started issuing same day appointments that we can claim "online". Yes, folks! No more standing in queues at 6AM in the morning to secure one appointment slot. Just login to the scheduler early in the morning you are ready to give the test and check for appointment slots at any of your nearby DPS locations. It's not that difficult! 2. You are going to practice more hours with your car than with the one provided by school. Specifically, for challenging driving tasks like parallel parking you may need to practice a 100 times before you are comfortable. You won't get enough practice with the school's car. So you are better off taking the car you are familiar with to the test! 3. If you know which DPS location you want to take your BTW test at, you can familiarize yourself with the area. Heck, you can even take your car and practice parallel parking at the location after hours and on weekends. Practice can't get any real than this!

Negative experience: My son couldn’t get his last 5 driving classes due to always being short staff there I paid in full and he turned 18 and now he has to go do a 6hr class I have to pay for more money all because they never have availability for after school they have to many students to accommodate their driving time

Fantastic experience: I was a student at Hutto Driving School and though it was long it was very helpful. They went over the basics like need for safety, and defensive driving when driving and even offered a hands on experience in changing the tires to a car. Also, they were very kind to me like when I needed to get my driving test done because the DPS in my area kept on messing with me and over 7 attempts we gave up and asked the driving school if they could and they did and it one took ONE TIME and it work. 10/10 recommend people trying out the school also in case you get hungry there are some food nearby.

Fantastic experience: Hutto Driving School, the best driving school around Austin, Texas. The school is small but has taught phenomenally. The teachers were not only kind, professional, and informative but they were also very engaging and made it more comfortable to learn. As a student, I’m glad I choose Hutto Driving School.

Fantastic experience: Just Got my Provisional License on the first try. Really Awesome Driving School! I lived 50 min so it was a little challenging but nonetheless the drive was worth it, this is the Best Driving School in Austin in my opinion. If you want people who will teach you the basics of driving behind the wheel while also going above and beyond ; this is where it’s at. Shoutout to Mr. Halstead & Elliot and Ms. Shelly, would 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic experience: Easy and a great way to get your child's drivers ed done. They worked with us to make sure our daughter had all of her driving lessons done before our DPS driving test.

Fantastic experience: Passed my drivers test on the first try. I took a 7 hour adult drivers ed course and took my test 2 months after completing it. I highly recommend the 7 hour course for first time drivers it was definitely worth it and I’m comfortable driving on the road and able to do it safely. Had my first drivers lessons in the end of August and I am now a licensed driver.

Fantastic experience: Awesome instructors, they taught me all the rules of the road, how to change a tire, what not to do, and most importantly how to drive.

Fantastic experience: As a former student of Hutto Driving School, I highly recommend this for any new drivers. Every time I drove with the instructors they were helpful, kind, professional, and encouraging. I gained a lot of confidence behind the wheel and learned a lot about defensive driving. Each instructor taught me different tips for safe driving, as well as how to react in different situations. Everything I learned has helped me feel more comfortable behind the wheel and I feel that my driving skills have immensely improved.

Fantastic experience: I attended a drivers course last year. Ms. Shelly and Ms. Angel were AWESOME instructors. They were extremely helpful and understanding. The first part of this course is learning road skills and how to drive safe. They having different activities to help engage students into wanting to be safe drivers. The driving portion is fun as well as they are very helpful when you begin driving. Hutto Driving School is DEFINITELY recommended, they are very packed on schedules and classes so make sure to sign up ASAP!

Fantastic experience: As a student who just finished their driving course, I have nothing but great things to say. The routes varied in difficulty and efficiency and were very beneficial to me as a young driver. The instruction and feedback from the instructors was very helpful. They were patient and very encouraging. I would highly recommend this driving school to anyone who asked.

Fantastic experience: They really are patient and push you to see how far you can go, while making sure nothing goes wrong. They will give you pointers on how you drive and even write down things as you go while upping the difficulty of the driving at the pace of your learning.

Fantastic experience: I was a student at the hutto driving school and the whole experience was amazing. In the beginning Mrs Shelly would give us pop quizzes to see how much we knew about road signals and what most signs meant and every class we had she would have activities related to what we were learning. For example, when we learned about drunk driving/ doing drugs while driving, she had goggles that represented every drug or alcohol level and we rode a small bike in a track she made and it made us realize how bad it is drinking or doing drugs while driving. Even though it was fun to do we also learned how much safer it is to just not drink while driving. And when we finally got our permits , they made my driving experience so much fun. They taught me how to be patient while driving with crazy drivers and they were very patient with me, even if I made a mistake they would make sure I understood what I did wrong and correct me and whenever I would make a good turn they would tell me how good of a turn I took. They are great teachers and I’ve had so much fun learning with them.

Fantastic experience: I tried to teach my son how to drive and we did not have a good experience. We tried Hutto Driving School and it made a huge difference. My son actually wanted to drive and did very well. He responded well to their patience (unlike mine). I highly recommend this school!

Fantastic experience: My son had so much anxiety about becoming a new driver, and was hesitant to try in class drivers education. However, he really enjoyed the classes and is now a licensed driver! The staff is incredibly nice, and very knowledgeable. We will definitely send our other kiddos to Hutto Driving School once they are of age.

Hutto driving school has been exceptional with customer services and communication with the student & parents. The staff worked around this pandemic and stayed on task to ensure that the students would complete their hours of driving. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Hutto Driving school did a great job with instruction and both in class and on the road. They always are very courteous and professional. Messages are answered in a very timely manner and they do a great job communicating with students and families class schedules and info. I highly recommend Hutto Driving School. The driving instructors are awesome!

Fantastic experience: My son took his behind the wheel instruction with Ms Shelly and it was a fantastic experience for him. He learned all the skills he needed to make him a safe driver and his mom a calm and relaxed passenger ;) He also really enjoyed all of the extra tips he got from Ms Shelly's experience working in law enforcement. I highly recommend this driving school if you live in the area and need peace of mind about your teenager getting behind the wheel of a vehicle!
