Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about Gainesville Motorcycle Safety Training School:
Gainesville Motorcycle Safety Training School offers a comprehensive and highly recommended motorcycle training experience, tailored for riders of all levels. The instructors, including Kenny, Brian, and Mike, are known for their professionalism, patience, and dedication to student safety. They ensure that every participant receives the attention they need to build confidence and improve their riding skills.
Some highlights of the school include:
- Expert Instruction: Instructors are knowledgeable and attentive, providing clear guidance throughout the course.
- Hands-On Learning: The training includes practical riding exercises where students can practice on their own motorcycles, enhancing their comfort and skills.
- Positive Environment: Many students appreciate the supportive atmosphere, where instructors encourage questions and provide constructive feedback.
- Flexible Options: Personalized one-on-one sessions are available for those who prefer more focused instruction.
While the school has received some criticism regarding the volume of communication during lessons—primarily due to the noise of multiple running motorcycles—most reviews emphasize the necessity of clear communication for safety. It’s worth noting that the instructors occasionally raise their voices to ensure all students can hear essential instructions amidst the noise.
Overall, Gainesville Motorcycle Safety Training School is a great choice for anyone looking to obtain their motorcycle endorsement. Despite some mixed reviews, the majority of students leave with a sense of accomplishment and readiness to ride safely on the road.
Gainesville Motorcycle Safety Training School: Reviews
Positive experience: If you have never touched a bike, I would not recommend this place. If you do not like being yelled at as part of the learning process, I do not recommend this place. I ended up finishing my MSF at another location in Orange Park where they communicate without being yelled at. Kenny was the instructor and still works there (he owns the business). Patrick was helpful and does his best but not enough to overshadow the rest of the experience.
BT, thank you for choosing GMSTS, initially to gain your motorcycle safety endorsement. We also want to thank you for sharing your review. As stated in other reviews, our coaches will sometimes have to use a higher tone in their voice in order to be heard over 11 or 12 running motorcycles. We sincerely regret that this was offensive during your training time, but we are glad that you were able to follow through with getting your endorsement and additional safety instruction through another provider. Ride safe.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff. Very patient and willing to work with you. Even if you need to walk out the path and be more hands on. If you feel more comfortable one on one they have those options too! Be sure to check this class! Highly recommend! Be willing to learn and they can have someone riding in no time! Before I forget to mention they have a course you can practice with your own bike! Best price around too! Was worth traveling over an hour from the ocala national forest!
Fantastic experience: Mike L, Brian, and Kenny - excellent course and well taught. Instructors were professional and direct in their teaching and the objectives. Also focused on each person on safety and awareness of motorcycling.
Fantastic experience: Great place to learn to ride. The instructors are great, and Brian specifically doesn't waste any time at all. You'll get everything you need and still leave early both days.
Fantastic experience: Great experience. Only yelling was so that instructor could be heard. 9-10 motorcycles running at the same time. Helmets on. Yeah.. instructors have to be heard.
Negative experience: Well the good news is I passed and got my endorsement. The bad news is “little Mike” is an egotistical jerk. If you don’t understand the task or if you have a question, he rolls his eyes and acts like it’s an inconvenience to help you understand. He speaks in a condescending tone like first time riders should just know what to do. Crystal river harley does the class for the same price and is free for military and first responders. I can’t believe I paid to go to this class when I could have done it for free with better customer service. Big Mike was great though.
Fantastic experience: Kenny and Bryan were both fantastic coaches. I will recommend to anyone who needs their endorsement.
Fantastic experience: our class was with instructors Brian and Mike and they were both so so helpful, knowledgeable and kind :) Brian was very patient with us new riders and clearly cares a lot about the students. i’m so glad i decided to learn to ride here!
Fantastic experience: I didn't realize when I renewed my license during covid that my motorcycle endorsement wasn't on there. This class was recommended to me and I was hesitant at first. I'm glad I took the course as I realized over the years I've had some bad habits and apparently some new things I need to learn and practice the instructors are knowledgeable and they help you understand what you're doing wrong and what you can do to correct it.
Fantastic experience: Took the class a few months ago and just forgot to leave a review till now! The trainers are well knowledge! They not only go over every detail, they answer all your questions, show you how they expect to ride the course! They are very down to earth guys who ride as well and just not some teacher who read a book an teaches you! Made getting a license such a good experience! Thanks guys! Ride safe and hope to take some more advance classes in the feature
Fantastic experience: Best motorcycle training school! The instructors, Mike and Patrick, are absolutely great. They ensure you understand the requirements, are there to answer any questions you may have, and support you immensely along the way. They remain calm, never scream even if we make mistakes, and coach you all the way to success. Thank you really much!!!
Fantastic experience: pat and mike are some of the most kind and patient gentlemen i’ve met and they made the class enjoyable and fun, while making it serious and a great learning opportunity. appreciate everything you guys have done and totally recommend taking classes with them.
Fantastic experience: Amazing! The instructors Mr.Brian & Mr.Kenny are AMAZING! They make sure the every individual is helped at their skill level. Very patient, kind, but stern due to safety is their number one goal. The one on one class was so great, it helped me mentally prepare for the class!
Fantastic experience: Kenny and Brian were excellent coaches. Class was fun while also learning. I would highly recommend taking this class at this school!
Fantastic experience: Kenny and Brian were amazing. Made the experience and went above and beyond to teach. I recommend coming here if at all possible for your BRC.
Fantastic experience: The class was fun because both Kenny and Patrick did a great job making you feel relaxed and joking when appropriate, but serious when needed to be. They are both very knowledgeable and I highly recommend this class if you are getting your motorcycle license. Patrick could teach a Fox how to drive a motorcycle.
Fantastic experience: Definitely a 10 out of 10. Will recommend this place to everyone. Kenny and Patrick were really supportive, patient, FUNNY and weren't afraid to let you know if you were messing up but would always follow up with how to fix it and some motivation to keep going. Thank you Patrick and Kenny!
Fantastic experience: My perspective comes as a rider with past experience. The review should still apply for new riders, as there was no preferential treatment based on knowledge or experience. My first contact was with Kenny. We spoke over the phone and via email. He was very responsive and efficient in answering my questions and addressing my concerns. I have disabilities and these were discussed and addressed in a professional and caring manner. Big Mike and Little Mike were great instructors. They made sure to verify that everyone was aware of what was required. They kept it a light hearted yet professional experience. They answered questions and gave advice in how to properly correct mistakes. Vee was a kind and caring woman that helped during the exercise to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable. The facility, and environment were welcoming and clean. Water was provided to keep everyone hydrated. Breaks were taken to ensure everyone stayed healthy and alert. The equipment was kept safe at all times, with safety always being the top priority. This was a great experience, taking the basic rider course(required for the motorcycle endorsement). If I ever needed their services again, I would happily return. The entire staff felt like a well bonded family and it was a great atmosphere and experience overall.
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience! Instructors are knowledgeable and take their time explaining the trainings and exercises. You're able to ask questions throughout the exercises and they will make sure they answered your question. It is a safe and fun experience and it really allows you to get comfortable on a motorcycle. I would highly recommend anyone that wants to get on a motorcycle to take the MSF course here.
Fantastic experience: I had the best time! They make you feel accepted and supported no matter what level you’re at, while making sure you know what you’re doing wrong haha. A wonderful experience :)
Positive experience: One of the instructors made sure to spend 10 minutes telling us about how he doesn't have time to use the preferred name of a transgender person who took the course previously, which also happened to be shorter than the person's government name. This seemed a bit silly but other than that the course was informative and I enjoyed having the opportunity to refine my skills on 2 wheels before I got on the road for real.
Fantastic experience: Just finished up my safety class couldn’t be happier great bunch of people very dedicated to teaching I would highly recommend anybody wanting to get into any type of riding give these guys a call
Fantastic experience: Great trainers professional and fun very informative with good understanding of professional riding and riders with effective training techniques that work I would recommend this training course to all riders who take safety seriously
Fantastic experience: Ken and Brian were OUTSTANDING instructors who are passionate and knowledgeable about motorcycle safety. Exceptional customer service from start to finish. I highly recommend this school.
Fantastic experience: I ca’t say enough about Gainesville motorcycle safety training. Simply the best. I attended with my son and we had so much fun that I gave the class to my youngest so for his birthday . The instructors are well trained and super professional but with enough humor tho make the class fun. If you want to take a motorcycle class, have fun and really learn these are the folks for you.
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much for teaching me how to ride. Thank you for helping me and believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. This has been an experience that I’ll never forget. I will be much safer and confident as I carry on with motorcycle riding. I will recommend you every chance I get! I highly recommend private riding classes if need be. This is where I was able to work on the specific skills I needed to improve. Thanks again, especially Kenny and Patrick!
Fantastic experience: My son and I took this class as new riders, we had no idea about bikes. Daren was great teaching in class, Frank and Mike was awesome!! Yes they have to yell it is very loud with 12 engines going all at the same time and they do not use a bull horn. Kenny was great too and kept us laughing. We would recommend this class to anyone especially if you do not have any experience. Frank and Mike I thank you especially , y’all’s Was my biggest cheerleader FYI my son and I both received our endorsement….
Fantastic experience: Great class whether you’re a new rider or an experienced rider getting legal. All you need to know is how to ride a bicycle and you’re ready to take the class. It’s 1/3 class, 2/3 riding and it’s interactive and fun. As an experienced rider I learned some things that will make me a better rider. Have fun and get legal!
Fantastic experience: This is the place to go to learn how to ride. I have my fair share in riding motorcycles and this class taught me a lot. The Coaches are very helpful and they make the experience enjoyable.
Fantastic experience: Awesome class, yea they yell it's so you can hear them. Listen to the instructions from instructor's and you will do fine. Safe riding everyone.
Fantastic experience: I never drove a motorcycle before. I went Saturday, started with basics. On Sunday I passed. Staff was patient and friendly it was a fun weekend definitely see these guys for your license
Fantastic experience: I went into the 3 day course with 0 experience on bikes and almost no experience with manual cars. I left with perfect scores on the driving and written test. I paid attention for sure, but I mean this as a testament to the school's teaching practices. The coaches here are very patient, excellent at tutoring, and they didn't cut corners just to pass people either. They're just really good at drilling the skills into your head.
Fantastic experience: I've been riding for many years and procrastinated taking this course, it was time to be legal! I have nothing but good things to say about Darren, Brian and Mike. These guys have our best interest and safety in mind when teaching this class, if you have thin skin and loud voices scare you than this may not be for you. If you want to learn the basics safely and have no problem LISTENING than this is the class to take. Thanks guys for a great experience. BTW leave instruments in your vehicle as others are here to learn to ride not play the Saxophone...lol (the guys know)
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed taking this course! The only previous experience I had was as a passenger and I have never driven a manual car. The instructor through the academic portion made the material interesting and relevant to what we'll experience on the roads by using personal stories and decision-making scenarios. Kenny and Pat, instructors of the riding portion, made learning to ride feel like a natural progression. They encouraged questions, were attentive to what students needed to specifically do to improve on skills, gave plenty of breaks to make the heat bearable to include providing gatorade and cooled water, and overall were phenomenal instructors. There was no disrespectful yelling and only ever raised their voices to speak over the many engines. I would recommend this course to anyone with no doubt that they would have a pleasant and safe learning experience.
Fantastic experience: Just took my class this weekend, Very positive and goal is for you to learn and pass your class. Don't get all the yelling negative reviews... In order for you to hear them they kinda gotta yell with noise of motorcycle, so dont take it personal just listen and learn. I am a new rider and recommend it to anyone. Went from meh on first day to ok I can do this on second.
Fantastic experience: Just took my class and these guys are great. We rode in the freezing cold while it was raining and the instructors still had a great attitude the whole time. All the bad reviews are probably from people who are way too sensitive. There were people in my class who weren’t listening and making things unsafe for everyone else, so of course the instructors are going to “yell” and raise their voices over the loud sounds of the bikes. They give you feed back on things you do wrong, and if you continuously make the same mistake then they will make it a point to be a little tougher on you so you can gain that confidence in yourself. They just want everyone to be safe and listen to instruction. Don’t take everything so personal because they are not there to pick on you or single you out.
Negative experience: Not professional. I am a big guy.. But I am nerdy and safety oriented so I was nervous.. I was probably having a bit of sensory overload. The instructor took it upon himself to teach with a typical toxic "macho" persona and yell constantly when I made mistakes. They did not provide a healthy learning environment nor helpful feedback besides "do better". Too much of the "ride or die" attitude.
David, we apologize that you didn't have a pleasent experience. There have been some changes made. Our goal is to have a safe and controlled environment. I hope we were able to help you achieve your needs at the time, if not please give us another try.
Fantastic experience: Just took and completed the course. Had a blast on both days. Mike and Brian, the two rider coaches we had were great. They took their time and taught the riding course great, helping each student as needed. I've been riding for years but never got licensed and had picked up a few bad habits over the years and they pointed those out to me and helped me correct them. I will highly recommend taking this course. You'll have a blast.
Negative experience: I was very unhappy with this school. For reason number one 15 students were in my class with only two instructors, reason number two the instructors were yelling and getting very aggravated with the the first time riders. I did finally get my endorsement but only when I went to another school and paid another fee to finish the course. I would not recommend this school for any beginners and I would have rated a 0 but Google would not allow it.
I am sorry to hear that you had an unpleasent experience. I am not sure it was with this company you took the class because the state of Florida only allow 12 students at a time on the range. If we were speaking loudly it was to speak over 12 running motorcycles. This class is for new riders and we understand that. Our goal is to maintain control of the class while producing an environment that is conducive for learning and safety.
Negative experience: Called in to just get an idea of how things work with them and as I said “Hello sir how are you doing today” he responds “Yes sir?” I went on to say “Hope you find yourself well today” . “Um yes sir” . Dude if you can’t properly answer a phone call and respond respectfully. Just Shut down the business. That’s proper Etiquettes then go somewhere bro. No reason to hand money over to someone that doesn't even Respond respectfully.
Negative experience: If you run into an issue and need to cancel your registration or contact Jayson or Callie, good luck. The terms and conditions state that you can cancel your registration for a full refund if done outside of 72 hours before the class. If you need to reschedule within 72 hrs before the class, you'll have to pay a $100 fee. Approximately 168 hrs before my class, I called and emailed to cancel. No answer, no call back. 120 hrs before my class, I called and left a voicemail. No response. Repeat this daily, plus a couple of emails, until the day of my class. No answer, no response. I show up for the Thursday evening in-person class so that I can speak with someone and get my refund. No such luck. The instructor is a different person. He called and spoke with Jayson in front of me while I was there, which resulted in me being told that I would have to pay a $100 rescheduling fee or not get a refund. I called Jayson 1 minute later and got no answer. Called Callie, no answer. They have essentially stolen $200 from me because there is no way for me to get in touch with them. No accountability. No professionalism. I planned to cancel, get a refund, and reschedule with them in a few months. Now, I will go somewhere else and recommend that others do the same.
Hello Adam. I hate to hear your experience with this company was not the one that you would have wanted. The company is now under new ownership and we strive to return phone calls and written correspondence in a timely matter.
Fantastic experience: Great place to get your motorcycle endorsement
Fantastic experience: Great place, awesome instructors. 5/5 would recommend because I'm ready to ride!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience. The instructors broke my bad habits from riding in the past and taught me many new things. At times they might seem like they are rude or condescending, but as long as you follow their instruction exactly you shouldn't have a problem. Make sure to ask questions if you are unsure about an exercise or you will most certainly feel like an idiot when you do it wrong.
Fantastic experience: Really cool guys. Down 2 erth. Very knowledgeable. Straight forward. All around great time there
Negative experience: The range instructors are clowns. Classic motorcycle tough guys. Bowed up chest, talk down to you, roll their eyes, shake their head, laugh at you, etc. I dealt with it alright, but if you are someone who likes a dialogue when learning something new, look elsewhere. They should call this place "fragile egos and beer guts" motorcycle training. They apparently read the "yelling" comments because they mentioned it in the class. However, they're too dense to realize it isn't about the volume, its about how you talk to people. Cringe.
Fantastic experience: I’m a first time rider, and took the 3 day class. I don’t know if they cycle out ride instructors or not, but Brian and the other instructor (his name didn’t stick with me) were great. We had people who had never even sat on a motorcycle to someone who had been riding for over 20 years in our class. The ride instructors were great and offered up advice when they saw someone struggling (myself included). The only time I saw them yell at a student was when the student went off course and into the path of another rider. Keep in mind it was a “STOP!” Screamed at the top of their lungs, but they had to for safety. Darren, the night class instructor, like others mentioned - was absolutely the best. I walked in terrified of “the box” and the s-curves because my low speed skills aren’t great (the low speed exercises are HARD), but walked out with a passing score. Take the complaints in the reviews here with a grain of salt, don’t be a dirtbag, have fun, and you’ll enjoy the class.
Brian thank you for your feedback. It assists us on continuing to provide a quality product.
Fantastic experience: Just took this course last weekend. I had been very nervous after reading some reviews that said people felt the instructors yelled at them too much. I have to say in my opinion the instructors were first rate. There was no unnecessary yelling. Of course if you have 10 motorcycles running you’re gonna have to kind of speak up. But I thought it was professionalism from day one to the end. I also know that they work with people that need a little extra attention or help. Highly recommend this course and all the instructors thank you very much I had a great experience and I’m enjoying my endorsement very much.
Positive experience: The instructors were ok, but i would recommend less sarcasm when criticizing students.
Positive experience: Was a long time driver but apparently not the right way and thanks for the corrections, but instructors approach is discouraging and too much yelling to the point that you will want to quit, remember, we paid for the course and expected to learn after. Need to have more patience for instructors, I taught a bunch of students too and yelling, threatening, and embarrassing students is not always the right way unless you were from the military maybe! You might have all the knowledge to share but the effectiveness of delivering it defends on your strategies. Just talked to a former student of yours and he felt the same way. Kudos to Instructor Darren (hope spelled it right)Thanks
Negative experience: Im an experienced rider but the instructors weren’t very patient with the ones who weren’t and seemed very annoyed when they did something wrong. During the test they kept yelling at a driver to driver faster and she panic. Poor lady I felt bad for her. First time riders please find you a class who specializes in first time riders and who have good reviews of having patience with those type of riders. Good luck but not this place!
Here at Gaineville Motorcycle Safety Training School we have new ownership and more coaches. Our goal is to have the same patience with our students as we would with our own family members. We appreciate your feedback it helps us make improvements.
Negative experience: After passed all tests they still won't give the certification. Been trying to get motorcycle license for a year now and the owner jayson won't even contact us. Will be calling an attorney.
Negative experience: Was singled out because I am an experienced rider.. threatened to send me home twice via yelling the second time for not stopping at a cone and getting off the bike too early. Very unprofessional especially after the instructors rev lined a sport bike with aftermarket exhaust at 1020pm. This class has residential houses across the street.. I don’t think those residents appreciated that. Darin was the only cool instructor.
Fantastic experience: By far some of the best instructors I've ever met. I had never ridden a motorcycle in my life and they had me riding comfortably by the end of the course. I also have severe test anxiety and they worked with me and were so very patient and encouraging. As a teacher myself, I commend these guys. They really want to see you do well and go out of their way to help you improve.
Fantastic experience: The guys are great. Very friendly and trustworthy. They give you time to understand the concept and if you have any questions they are there to answer them. I didnt have much experience but taking the class left me with confidence.
Fantastic experience: These guys are awesome, I walked in with no experience on a bike and am glad I went here.
Fantastic experience: This is an excellent safety course and the instructors did a great job. Be prepared to listen and learn as that's why you're there and that's what you paid for.
Fantastic experience: The instructors are professional and knowledgeable. The facility is nice and the bikes provided are in great shape compared to other MSF facilities I have seen (they even have two 500cc Harleys for brave students).
