ABC Training & Testing: Reviews
Fantastic experience: We had an excellent experience with the road driving test conducted by ABC Training and Testing at the Walled Lake location. Despite the heavy rain, the examiner, Brian, arrived promptly and completed the test with professionalism. The test taker, who recently moved from Japan, greatly appreciated Brian's efficient use of the translation device. Furthermore, Brian's ability to speak some Japanese words added an extra layer of support during the road test. The office staff, Becky, was courteous and responsive throughout the registration process. We recommend ABC Training and Testing at the Walled Lake location. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: We had an excellent experience with ABC Training & Testing! The driving examiner named Brian was very helpful and kind. We failed the first driving exam due to nerves and lack of parking practices. However, the second time we were able to ace the exam without any major issues! If you are an expat from Japan, I highly recommend doing your driving test @ the Walled Lake Location! Also, Becky who did all the scheduling for us was so accommodating and friendly! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: After a misunderstanding on my part, ABC Training was gracious enough to help me have some hours behind the wheel. I can't remember my instructor at the time in 2018, possibly Becky? But I am grateful for them for helping me continue my learning in driving.
Negative experience: I forgot to leave a review on this a while ago, but it’s stuck in my mind still! I took my test with an older guy. I was waiting to turn down a road and waited a while because I’m a new driver and hesitant! The man proceeded to yell at me and said go and called me an idiot. I started crying then called me a crybaby as well! That is straight up bullying me and unprofessional. Don’t deal with new drivers if you are going to bully and belittle them. If you have a young girl or are one I do NOT recommend coming here. What a joke that guy is
Fantastic experience: I am Chris, I had a wonderful Road driving test with ABC Training and Testing located at 7290 B Drive N Battle Creek with Ashley by name they very reliable company for driving test and affordable and they give instructions to help you obtain your driving license, I recommend anyone who want get driving license to use ABC Training and Testing. God bless America.
Fantastic experience: Made getting my motorcycle endorsement a breeze. Everyone I spoke to was nice and helpful. Scott, the person that administered the test (who was awesome), said I probably couldn't pay for my new license with endorsement at SOS until the next day due to how the state's system works, but ABC had the info submitted by the time I got back to the office and I was able to order my new license within the hour. 10/10 service.
Fantastic experience: Our driving instructor was amazing I would and have recommend this place we did ours in battlecreek at harper creek school
Positive experience: Just finish my cdl course . Scott , Bill , and Glen are stand up instructors as well as examiners. The answer all your questions and get you ready for the road. No this course is not a given you most work for it . But what in life is truly given thank you all for you help
Positive experience: I took the CDL training with Scott and he's a awesome calm instructor and has patience with you as long as you listen and not a real dummy. He gives you all the tools you need as long as you can listen. I never even been inside a semi truck and by the end of the course I'm ready to go trucking. Bill is another awesome teacher too very calm and explains everything and both are never afraid of answering any questions you have no matter how many times you ask. Glen was my tester and he's another good guy. You will have to earn your CDL they give you all the tools needed it's up to you to use them. ABC is a good honest school and glad I went through it for my CDL license.
Fantastic experience: Ashley was awesome; so nice and professional! Glad I chose this company.
Negative experience: How do you schedule a road test on Saturday only to be closed on Saturday and leave no way for anyone to contact you?
Fantastic experience: Driving test went smooth and peacefull, great time, awesome oficer, definately recommended
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing thank you Brian does a great job very patient
Fantastic experience: ABC in walled Lake was very good would definitely recommend
Fantastic experience: Took my son to take driving test. The person giving the test was very professional and friendly. I recommend their services. 11/27/23
Fantastic experience: I visited the Walled Lake location, and the evaluator was a super nice person with me, everything was explained properly, i was able to get some good Michigan driving tips from his side. I will recommend ABC training and testing to my friends for sure.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly
Negative experience: After completing both of their segments and nearly $500 later. The first thing they test my kid on was parallel parking. After the first 5 minutes I was told my kid failed! Now I need another $65 to test again. I smell a scam!
Fantastic experience: This school is amazing they are fair but firm if you are not able to pass the classroom parking skills or the pre trip inspection as well as the driving they will not let you move forward to test for cdl. They will absolutely give you all of the knowledge that you need but you will be the one who has to apply it. The future is in your hands just listen to the instructors and learn from them to show you and you will be on your way to a great career
Fantastic experience: Had my CDL driving test here. They did a great job and explained things properly. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. Thank you guys!!
Fantastic experience: Hi, I would like to thank all the staff in ABC Training &Testing , which they helped me the last few days to get this urgent appointment for the road test having been living in Lansing, MI. Also I would like to thank all the people which they have conducted the exam for me, and a big thanks mainly to Mr. Scott, the honrbal gentleman who did the Road test for me in a very professional and friendly way. Thanks all again ABC and best regards. Waseem Hajjar.
Negative experience: They’re very misleading and bad at communicating. Wasted money, and wasted time. I warn you now, go somewhere else!
Negative experience: Do not come here. Will fail you multiple times just to take your money
Negative experience: I went to them twice and the first time around, I failed because I wasn’t ready. The second time I had a woman who was rude and condescending. She kept giving superficial reasons as to why she pointed me and refuses to explain further why I asked her. I even asked a police officer about it all and they agreed it was superficial and unprofessional. Do *not* go through this place. Unless you’re lucky enough to get the guy there. At least he was professional about it the first time around.
Fantastic experience: I took my test at the Meadows rd novi location and was exceptionally impressed. I was nervous and had fear in me thanks for the flexibility and good communication from the examiner I passed my road test
Fantastic experience: I passed
Fantastic experience: ABC Training and Testing is an amazing test center. I took my test at the Jackson location and was exceptionally impressed. I had failed previously at a different place in town so I was really nervous but ABC made my fears go away. I took my test with Ashley and she was great! She gave me great feedback to be a safer and better driver and I passed. I really appreciated how calm and friendly she was since she really helped calm my nerves. We also had a good conversation which really made the test just feel like a regular drive. Thank you so much ABC!!
Fantastic experience: I took the CDL course with Scott. I’ve never stepped foot in a semi before this class. Scott was patient and professional. It was a fun class. He explained everything well. From the semi to the trailer to the test. I was able to pass the inspection, parking, and road test on the first try with minimal points. Bill, the tester was professional and explained everything he wanted me to do in detail and answered any questions I had. I would highly recommend this course to a new person trying to start a new career in truck driving.
Fantastic experience: ABC Training is very professional in all aspects of CDL training and testing. I just finished my training and testing in Jackson Michigan and could not find any fault with this company and staff
Negative experience: Pretty sure my instructor was under influence of drugs or alcohol. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Fantastic experience: I completed a road test with Bill (who is a staff member at ABC) in Jackson today. Bill was exceptionally friendly and very professional. Bill created an ideal testing environment, and had a great personality which helps to calm the nerves during a test. The price offered by this company was also very affordable. I had several questions prior to the testing date and the company responded to my emails very quickly. I highly recommend this company (as well as Bill) for all of your road testing needs!
Fantastic experience: I took my road test twice at the Jackson location. The first time I botched the parking. The second time I passed! The tester was very nice. Communicates very well. I typically get very nervous driving but he made the atmosphere very comfortable! I’ve recommended this place to my friend to take her road test!
Fantastic experience: Donna was super nice! I did not feel anxious driving with her at all. I was very nervous going in to the test but it ended up being nothing to get worked up about. It is important to come prepared and feel confident in your driving ability, but in my experience she isn't going to trick you- she just made sure I was able to safetly execute the different maneuvers needed to safetly drive a car, which is very important!
Fantastic experience: Bill was an amazing instructor ! Glad I chose ABC to take my drivers test !
Fantastic experience: The lady we had was very sweet and wanted to make sure my daughter was completely capable of driving alone. I will definitely be going back to them.
Negative experience: I think that this company needs to fire the instructor "Donna". She didn't even let my fiancé out of the parking lot after saying he failed parallel parking because he pulled the up to straighten out a little better. She said that's 2 points for pulling up too many times.......my fiancé has been driving for 30 years and only had to take a test because he didn't have a license in the U.S.! I DO NOT recommend this company to anyone if they continue to employ a person like "Donna". I will be demanding a refund.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience taking my test with ABC Training & Testing. The tester was very nice and did not make me feel anxious during my road test. Recommended!
Fantastic experience: As a road test examiner, I enjoy meeting all of the different people, and making the customer feel as comfortable as possible. I would never ask anyone to do anything illegal or drive an area that is not clearly marked with signs or pavement markings. Pass or fail, my job is simply data entry. I do not choose to fail customers, the test outcome depends solely on the driver. Thank you ABC for being an honest company that does its best to make your customers feel comfortable.
Negative experience: (If there was an option for zero stars, that is what I would select for ABC Testing). I would seriously consider doing your research on Road Testers prior to subjecting your young driver to the Road Test. From what I have heard, there is a wide range of what specific testers find acceptable vs what they will fail you on. There are also other considerations. One Tester allowed multiple tries on the parallel parking portion of the test prior to failing the driver. The route chosen for the road portion of the test is also critical and that is where I have a problem with ABC. "Donna" was the specific person administering my son's test in Novi, MI. She seemed professional at the start but had this way of making it seem like she was "waiting for him to make a mistake"--almost baiting him into a mistake. This didn't bother him. She directed him to I-96 westbound from Novi Road. She then directed him to "exit the expressway at Beck Road and Turn Left" (exact words). If anyone has ever experienced this interchange, it is known to be one of the most confusing/difficult in the state of Michigan. It isn't the standard cloverleaf design that you will see on 99% of Michigan freeway interchanges. When making a left, you are crossing over multiple dotted lines going in wayward directions. For a young, inexperienced driver this seems like a ridiculous place for road testing. My son was failed because he "exited the expressway at Beck Road" (as instructed), and followed the confusing dotted lines back onto the expressway which happened to be to the left (remember her words... "and turn left'). We arrived back and she then proceeded to nitpick him about (a) not turning his head to the right and left when crossing intersections on surface streets--even though I clearly saw him looking to either direction each time; and (b) not seeing the "back side of tires on the car in front" when stopped in traffic--even though he is nearly 6'3" and could very well see the backs of the tires vs her sitting in the passenger seat which she reclined back when she entered the car for some reason at maybe 5'5"!! This outfit is clearly looking to grab your $60 and force a retest--hoping you will ante up another $60 to them. Some Road Test places will also cut you a break on the 2nd test if you fail the first--ABC doesn't do that. They will want to charge you the full $60 for every administered test. Following the road test, we went to the Novi Police station and talked to an officer about the interchange and he confirmed that my son's turn was illegal--which I don't doubt. However, he also said this....."Your Road Tester took a 16 year old, new driver to THAT interchange?" So BUYER BEWARE when choosing ABC Training and Testing. And if you see "Donna" waiting for you in the church parking lot--hang onto your $60 and reschedule with someone else. Attached is a picture of the interchange at I-96 and Beck Road.
Negative experience: I would definitely stay away from ABC. Our female tester failed my son twice for a few very small things. She wanted him to stop further from the car in front of him. He stopped about 1/3 of a car length from the car. She said he didn't turn his head enough side to side when going through a green intersection. She stated that he entered the turn lane too quickly and finally didn't turn his head enough when changing lanes. These are all simple things that should have been used as teaching moments, not failures. After $110 lost, we are going somewhere else. I recommend you do the same.
Negative experience: Worst company for doing a driving test. They fail you in parking so that you come back again and pay another $55. Stay away for your own good
Fantastic experience: Bill was great to work with for both of our daughters. He was patient and clearly explained the testing to each of them. He did a great job on the road test giving them directions well in advance of turns. My daughters were nervous and he put them at ease. I highly recommend this company.
Fantastic experience: Bill was a very friendly and helpful instructor who gave amazing instructions and insight into how I can improve as a driver. Would highly recommend over other testing alternatives in the area.
Fantastic experience: This is the best School ever to those who want to be good driver, and been safe in the road, They have amazing trainer Scott he is very good. And my tester Bill was amazing!.Thank you to ABC Training &Testing♥
Fantastic experience: Excellent!! I highly recommend ABC
Fantastic experience: My experience was great! My tester was friendly and my test overall went smoothly! I would highly recommend this company for testing.
Fantastic experience: Ashley was great. Clear and concise instructions during testing. Reviewed areas for my son to work on. Overall great experience.
Fantastic experience: Took my drivers test today with Ashley! She was amazing! I highly suggest her! My family had me a bit nervous but she explains perfect and we had great conversation the whole time which made me not nervous at all!. The test itself was not at all as bad as what i thought! Im so glad i went thru this place!
Fantastic experience: I’ve used ABC for a road driving test for my child and very pleased with their service. The customer service person answered my call was super helpful explaining what’s involved, ams scheduling the test appointment. The day of testing I’ve arrived at the location 15min early (was told be there 5min early), and the instructor was already there, cones all set up ready to go! The instructor who’s conducted the test was great too. She clearly explained what’s expected in professional and friendly manner. My child was very nervous taking this test but the instructor’s personality, how she explained and tone of voice really helped. Thank you ABC! I’ll definitely seek you help in few years.
Fantastic experience: I know theres a lot of mixed reviews but just hear my story out and maybe it'll help you decide (Driving Instructers Name is included at the end, scroll down to the ☆'s if you dont want the entire story) Im 20. Ive been in 2 terrible accidents (I wasnt driving) and for 5 years ive been terrified of driving. I got my 1st permit around the time i turned 18. I practiced a little bit during the time i had my permit the first time, but never felt confident enough in my driving to schedule the road test. So i let the 1st permit expire for almost 2 years. A few months ago, i went and got my 2nd permit. I needed my license now more than ever, so i was trying to stay positive and told myself i need to power through it. I had a phobia of driving on the highway. It took me about 2 months before i even tried, and when i did, i had a full blown panic attack the first time. Thanks to my support system, i eventually practiced enough to somewhat get over my fear. Then i started freaking out over my parking because one of my friends went to do her test and didnt even get passed her parking test. I went another month id say, and finally got enough guts to schedule my test. ☆ Because of the mixed reviews, i was super nervous. I had people telling me ABC was great, and other people telling me it was terrible. But it seemed like my only option. I figured id roll the dice and hope that ill get a nice instructor. Making the appointment was super duper easy. They asked me if i wanted it scheduled the week i called, or the next week. they also gave me options on the time. I picked tuesday, the 24th at 1:45pm and we met at a local store (Sears) ☆ The instructer was there on time. He asked me if i had been waiting long, which i replied with no, he chatted me up about the weather and told me about some huge sale going on at sears and to definitely check it out if i had kids. Which made me feel at ease. he made me feel very comfortable talking to him. he was professional but not stuck up. He explained everything in detail which i was grateful for considering i was nervous and my mind was racing which made it hard to understand directions. ☆ He checked my vehicle (made sure everything worked properly) and we proceeded on to the parking segment. i passed. We then got on the road and started driving. He gave me clear cut directions in advance and he was a very sweet man. He made me feel extremely comfortable and confident in my driving. The entire time i was so nervous (which im sure a lot of people are during their road test) but he definitely made me not so nervous. ☆ Anyways, my point is, i had a great experience with this company. I have bad anxiety and couldnt stop thinking i was going to get a terrible instructor (based on the reviews) which i guess can happen. If you are considering this company, please take in consideration that people can post bad reviews just because they failed. Or maybe they did get a bad instructor. Regardless, my instructor was amazing. his name was Bill P(itt) - i cant really read his last name from his signature well - and if you can request somebody, definitely request him. he was delightful
Negative experience: Does not return calls at all! I called and left a messages and phone number. Also called next day and nobody answered.
Fantastic experience: My instructor was beyond kind and made things much less nerve wracking for me while I was testing. It was an overall great experience and I’m glad I chose to use abc.
Fantastic experience: He was very patient and understanding. Spoke very clearly and gave great directions. I recommend him to everyone when they want to go for testing. My niece will be testing this summer!!! I’m
Fantastic experience: Absolutely pick this drivers testing & training company. A+ all around. Friendly, Courteous, Professional is what we encountered today 1/23/2018. My grand daughter was tested for her drivers license. Thank You ABC for treating her with respect and care. K.M.D.
Negative experience: Stay away. I tested for a CDL WITH them twice. The first time I was failed as I did not hit all the key points in the pre trip inspection (even though the guy told me he was impressed on how much I knew about the trucks...?) But I said fair enough. So he advices I go back and study the back of the book then sign up for a pre test walk through right before my test. So sure enough I do and have to pay additional. So they give me my appointment time at 9 (which was written in an email) and I show up to do the walk through and retest. Well when I arrived they told me I missed my pre test training and couldn't take the test would have to reschedule. I called the owner and she said that I she believes her employees and not me even though I had forwarded her the proof of email from her secretary. So I then she decided to send me a bill in the mail for the services they never provided. I sechulded a test with another vendor and passed the first time no problem. I am a career fire fighter who's drives a fire engine daily, but yet was told my competency in a pre trip inspection was not good enough. This company will fail you for more money and is very disorganized
Fantastic experience: Very professional tester, everything you need to know comes in the manual you receive at the SOS office. Just make sure to read and practice and you'll be alright.
Fantastic experience: Took cdl- a with Scott back in 2010.....very knowledgeable and very calm with mistakes.....his training and tips have help me stay safe and accident free
Fantastic experience: My daughter took her test at the Jackson Crossing mall. I was a little nervous about the reviews, which is why I am writing one. There were two testers, they were running just a little behind schedule, but not a big deal. The man who tested my daughter was polite, kind, but very business like and professional when it came to the actual test. He was also personable and relatable. I think that taking driving tests is nerve racking for people and when they fail or don't do as well as they expected they often get very angry and write really bad reviews. It is important that people understand what they are going to be tested on and take the responsibility seriously. I applaud the testers for their grit in dealing with all types of individuals and appreciate that they can and do fail people that are not ready to be on the road. My daughter was very nervous and did make a couple mistakes, but the tester explained what they were and how she can improve. He was business like, but kind. His advice was spot on and actually helpful to her in the next few days. I could not do the job these folks do, and it is a needed job. I am glad they offer the service and I think many of the one star ratings are from folks who just were not ready to pass and did not realize it.
Negative experience: STAY AWAY.....I would never recommend this company to anyone. The test should be called a parking test instead of a road test. If you're not an excellent at parking they will fail you and you will never drive on the road you have 3 parking exercises I passed 2 including parallel parking and was failed wirhout any explanation and never made it to the road the tester only said i passed 2 out of the 3 and i fail i can try again tomorrow at another $55 they don't explain there point system or anything else. You must do everything perfect or fail this place is ridiculous.
Negative experience: Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Very inconsistent in their testing not to mention my tester was very inconsiderate and unprofessional. Instead of just telling me I didn't pass my pre trip inspection. He said "all I can tell you s that you flunked and wasn't even close. He would tell me I didn't need to go under the vehicle to point things out and then ask me what I was pointing at. Told me I didn't mention something when in fact I did. Two other people I know went to this company. One was told by the lady tester that he "was taking too long on his pre trip inspection and that they should have been on the road 20 minutes ago". Really! The other finished his pre trip inspection and his tester told him "I'm going to pass you but you failed miserably". Needless to say I went to Able Testing in Ypsilanti and was very pleased with their professionalism. Will definitely go back for other endorsements.
Negative experience: Very bad experience. I got a strong impression that they were looking for excuses to fail you. My son was failed for supposedly running a 'full-blown' red light. I was in the car and watching carefully, and there is no way I can agree with what the examiner said. The light was clearly yellow. The light turned yellow as my son approached the intersection. It would have been 'possible' to stop, but unsafe in my opinion, as it would have been a sudden stop and there was traffic behind him as well. I was nervous for my son, so I made a point of watching the light carefully--it was yellow the whole time he was in the intersection. Very far from "Blowing through a red light" as he was accused of doing. The examiner said he had no reason to fail my son--which makes it all the more puzzling why he would choose to do something like this. I felt they were just after the testing fees. Incomprehensible and disappointing that they would choose to operate like this. Just baffling.
Fantastic experience: Just had my road test today was very nervous but Mark was very nice, overall I had a great time with them i would recommend them to anyone!
Negative experience: First off he failed me for not turning the radio on for him, I did not get a refund for my 15 minute test and when I rescheduled two days later for an 8am test after I worked 10pm-6am he didn't even show up until 9 and then told me he wasn't testing me he was testing someone else. Worst service in my life DO NOT GO TO THEM!!!
Negative experience: The person even did not show off! I was waiting for there for 30 minutes, but the person was still not show off!!
Negative experience: Very racist
Fantastic experience: I forget the name of the man who tested me, but he was calm and knowledgeable. The test went very well, and I am so glad I went here! 5 stars!!
Fantastic experience: Great job, Bill was our tester and he was silent for the most part during the actually testing and outside of the primary testing he was very friendly and helpful over what needed improvement and what was good. I high suggest this company.
Negative experience: I am a motorist who just got cut off by one of their drivers. There were no students in the car - just the instructor on Spring Arbor Rd. at 11:19am 5.31.13. He then proceeded to cruise in the left hand lane heading eastbound between McCain Rd. and Brown St. at 10mph below the speed limit. Despite flashing brights and there being a clear lane for him to use, he elected to sit in the passing lane all the way to Brown St. THIS IS ILLEGAL! Do you want your child to learn how to drive from an inept driver? If so, ABC is the perfect choice for your student.
