Welcome to A & J Driving School LLC, a proudly woman-owned institution based in Manchester, New Hampshire, dedicated to shaping confident and responsible drivers. With over 15 years of certified instructional experience and AAA certification in Driver Improvement, Mrs. Alison and her expert team bring a passionate, safety-first approach to driver education, tailored to students of all learning abilities.

Comprehensive Driver Education
Our flagship course meets all New Hampshire state requirements, offering a balanced mix of 30 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours of behind-the-wheel driving, and 6 hours of observation. In-person theory classes are held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with an additional session on Wednesdays during the final week. Students also complete two weekly driving sessions, scheduled at times that accommodate their skill levels and availability. Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early registration with a deposit is highly recommended.

Eligibility and Preparation
To enroll, students must be at least 15 years and 9 months old by the start of the course (or 16 by the end). Before joining, students are required to complete 5 hours of supervised practice with a parent or guardian and pass a vision screening (20/40 vision in both eyes, or 20/30 in one eye).

Driver Improvement Services
We also offer a First Offense Driver Improvement Program for traffic offenders seeking point reduction. This 6-hour course runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and costs $50. No pre-registration is required, but walk-ins are subject to availability.

Fantastic experience: Harry’s is a great driving school and I genuinely feel like I learned useful driving skills, Alison did a great job keeping us on track and Chris and Jane were amazing instructors, they’re lovely people.

Fantastic experience: Excellent school. I ended up just barely securing a spot last minute. All the other driving schools were booked up for months in advance and I’m very grateful I came here instead. The owners are a family of great people with a lot of patience to offer courses for students and adults learning to drive, foreign speaking drivers etc. Alison (daughter of owner) is typically the main instructor of the classes and she does a wonderful, thorough job of explaining the risks and rules of the road, and practical driving knowledge. Not only from a straight textbook narrative, but really putting each instruction into real life situations for her students to understand better. Along with Alison, there are two other driving instructors. Harry’s does a great job of making sure everyone has a chance to rotate with different instructors and vehicle sizes. From my personal experience, I really enjoyed having all three instructors at different times during my learning. Jane (mother/co-owner) focuses on practical driving and taking routes that are designed to help you with real life tasks that you’ll typically have to do once you get your license (banks, gas stations, drive-thrus etc.). Alison and Chris really work on technicals like parking, maintaining lanes, speed control, highway driving etc. All the instructors are great and no matter who you have you’ll still feel prepared and fully equipped to go to the DMV after completing their course. Definitely would recommend to any family looking to send their child for an all-encompassing driving program!
