A-1 School of Driving has been a trusted partner in driver education for the Yakima Valley and Goldendale areas since 1996. We provide comprehensive, high-quality instruction for both adults and youth, ensuring you are fully prepared to hit the road with confidence. Our facility is conveniently located at 2506 W. Nob Hill Blvd. in Yakima, making us easily accessible for all your licensing needs.

We are proud to announce that we now offer digital knowledge testing on computers. To ensure a smooth experience, please create an account on the License Express website before visiting. For those requiring assistive mode, headphones can be provided so the exam questions are read aloud. Please remember that while we administer the Washington state-level written and skills exams, we are not the Department of Licensing (DoL). You will need to visit the DoL separately to have your actual license issued.

Our schedule is designed to accommodate busy lifestyles, with Monday through Friday hours from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday availability from 10 am to 4 pm. Note that we stop accepting knowledge testers one hour before closing. We also offer dedicated youth classes, with upcoming sessions scheduled for June 15th to July 15th, 2026, featuring morning, afternoon, and evening options on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. For any questions or to schedule your DoL appointment, please contact us directly at (509)-965-5874 or via email at [email protected]. Visit our office to start your journey toward becoming a licensed driver today.

Negative experience: Female driving instructor seems to be trying to befriend the students. Pretty odd. Also sounds like she constantly breaks for the students to "smooth out" the break. What!? Do your job and teach them to drive. Just unprofessional instructor all around. Shouldn’t be a need to text your students either.

We text students as a way to coordinate a complicated population and schedule. Sometimes the scheduling can be like herding cats. As far as the use of the brake we are specifically equipped with a brake for safety purposes and will use it. We are sorry you don’t feel like that is correct but if you would like to discuss this further you can contact Eric.
