Jordan Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: I am a parent, this driving school instructors can significantly hinder a student's ability to learn safe and effective driving skills. Also Students don’t need 2h30 from 4pm to 6:30pm for this class because they end up not finishing their school assignments on time, one of the instructors you can hear kids talking in the back during the class session that is supposed to be quite and calm, and I am wondering why the reviews are 2.8 stars from 5,beside, here are some common traits or behaviors that might characterize a poor driving instructor: 1. **Lack of Patience**: An instructor who gets easily frustrated or angry with students can create a stressful learning environment, making it difficult for students to focus and learn. 2. **Poor Communication Skills**: If an instructor cannot clearly explain driving concepts, techniques, or safety rules, students may struggle to understand and apply what they are being taught. 3. **Inconsistent Feedback**: Instructors who provide inconsistent or unclear feedback can confuse students, making it hard for them to know what they are doing right or wrong. 4. **Lack of Professionalism**: This can include being late to lessons, using inappropriate language, or not taking the lessons seriously. Such behavior can undermine the student's confidence and respect for the instructor. 5. **Over-reliance on Fear Tactics**: Some instructors might use fear or intimidation to try to teach, which can be counterproductive and lead to anxiety or a lack of confidence in the student. 6. **Inadequate Knowledge or Skills**: An instructor who lacks up-to-date knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle mechanics, or teaching methodologies may provide outdated or incorrect information. 7. **Neglecting Safety**: Safety should always be a top priority. Instructors who do not emphasize safety or who take unnecessary risks during lessons are failing in their primary responsibility. 8. **Favoritism or Bias**: Showing favoritism or being biased towards certain students can create an unfair learning environment and demotivate others. 9. **Inflexibility**: Instructors who are not willing to adapt their teaching methods to suit the individual needs of their students may not be effective in helping all students succeed. 10. **Lack of Encouragement**: Positive reinforcement is crucial in learning. Instructors who do not encourage or praise students for their progress can demoralize them. If you encounter a driving instructor who exhibits these behaviors, it may be worth considering finding a new instructor or reporting the issues to the driving school's management. A good driving instructor should be patient, knowledgeable, professional, and focused on helping you become a safe and confident driver.
Negative experience: Mr Walker, one of the behind-the-wheel instructors, is extremely rude and aggressive at the point where waiting for the classes isn’t even worth it.
Negative experience: Fail to mention that it is over 6 month wait before in car can be taken when called informed of this information we are on month 9 and still haven’t completed this portion my son will be 18 soon waste time and money taking class
Fantastic experience: Sure some teachers we're bad but Mr.Rodman is a Legend
Negative experience: I see why their texting is low I was behind a student driver today she literally ran a red light it was red but yellow and she turned anyway with instructor in passenger seat
Negative experience: We have had an awful experience. The class was remote in January. The teacher would sign on up to 40 minutes late. She once told the students "you need to give me a break I was out late last night". Most classes involved her assigning the kids a topic to research themselves and then teach the class. She did very little teaching herself. We are now nine months later and finally got a call for "on the road" for a week we are out of town. We were told we would be called again in December, since we are unavailable this one week. Waiting ONE YEAR for the on the road portion is unacceptable. The people who call are very rude. I would stay far away from this company!
Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic experience with Jordan Driving School when my teenagers, aged 15, attended their classes (2022-2023). Their instructor was Tommie Lockhart. The classes took place at Olympic High School, and their behind-the-wheel practices were at Palisades HS. From the enrollment process to the moment they received their permits, everything went flawlessly. I would highly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: Excelente allí hizo sus clases mi hijo
Negative experience: Awful, and appears to me that they pick and choose as to when they let rules apply. My son was there maybe 1or 2 minutes late due to having to get there in an Uber. They closed the door on him as he was making his way to the front of the building at Butler H.S. This is a long walk way but if you see the child walking or running towards the door why close it on him? Yet the first day I remember a child be walked into the building by the parent at least 45 minutes late. My son was dismissed from the program because of his no more than 3 minutes tardiness. I spoke to the white male in charge and he refused to make any exceptions! I’m sure my 6’1 ft black son was not of his liking. I believe that is the reason why he refused to let him in the building! I had to drive to pick him up as he stood outside of the building for at least 30 minutes!
Negative experience: Awful experience with this school. CMS should really re-evaluate their partnership with them. They don’t have enough staff to keep up with the the demand of student drivers. We have been waiting over 7 months to take the behind the wheel portion. My son is going into his Sr year with no license. I should’ve went private from the start and my son would’ve had his license by now.
Negative experience: Got Covid 19, it was better than Jordan driving school.
Negative experience: CMS should revaluate their partnership with this company truly the worst experience.
Negative experience: So disappointed in this driving school, CMS needs to reevaluate their partnership with this driving school. The instructor should not be working with HS students as his level of expectations from hormonal teenager is way unrealistic. They are very unorganized as no one is properly coordinating students on their schedules roster. I was told the day of classes my child wasn’t on the roster, then told he can come to class and then told he couldn’t be in the class and then told he could and then my child was kicked out of class. The level of unprofessionalism is insane. I will be reporting this school to the BBB, the superintendent of the CMS, as well as the department of motor vehicles commissioner.
Fantastic experience: Coach Eeps was my private instructor. He made it relaxing and stress free. Very talkative and personable. Makes driving fun! Highly recommend!
Negative experience: No actualizan su sitio web.
Negative experience: Has absolutely been terrible. First they never told me when and where I needed to get my eyes checked. When they did they told me they couldn’t get me into drive until july my birthday is in june. Then i went to get my eyes checked and the lady who was supposed to give it to Jordan never did. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone very unreachable and terrible communication.
Negative experience: Jordan driving school is horrible the communication is awful they don’t call you to inform you about anything and will just ignore you when you try and call them about btw which I have been waiting for 6 months.
Negative experience: My son had absolutely horrible experience with his instructor, Mr. Henderson. The instructor was constantly yelling at his students, grabbing the steering wheel while student was driving and was late to every single lesson. This instructor creates such an unbearable stress in the car that some students break into tears. Very disappointing, horrific experience. Don't sign up your kid with this instructor!
Fantastic experience: Coach Epps (private institution). He was amazing and made sure I was comfortable in every situation while driving. He did not make me do anything that I wasn’t comfortable with doing. Made the experience 10 times better. He was amazing!
Positive experience: Due to Covid there was a delay for my kids to start which was understandable. I did have to reach out to them first to get an understanding as to what to expect as we scheduled both classes a month before the shut down but they were very responsive and kept us in the loop after that. Both my kids were able to complete the virtual class and the behind the wheel course without any other issues. The driving instructor was very professional and informative. I will say I did not know the certificate that was to be signed by the school to be presented at the DMV office in order to take the permit test had a 30 day expiration date until I actually went to the school so that was some important information that wasn't thoroughly explained and it was necessary to know because with Covid you had to now schedule an appointment to take the test. So the first go round I picked up the certificate prior to making the appointment but couldn't find an appointment within those 30 days to take the permit test so that resulted in me having to go back up to the school to get another certificate. Other than that I have no complaints. My oldest now has his license and my youngest has his driving permit.
Fantastic experience: Coach Epps is an amazing instructor.
Negative experience: Poor communication, what’s the point of sending emails if they don’t respond.
Negative experience: I took the online class in JULY (2020) I have called 3 times and each time they tell me there going to call me soon... it is JANUARY 2021 now(6 months) and I have not received one phone call or any contact from these people. Mind you I took a time out of my day to do my eye check at the DMV and drive all the way down there to hand in all my paper work in September. I honestly don’t even remember what I learned. These people are so unprofessional and it just makes me so mad how long they are taking for me to be behind the wheel pls don’t waste your $60 and your time on these people !! If I cud give 0 stars I would.
Negative experience: Do not waste your money. Poor management and they do not return your calls. We paid for Driver’s Ed class well in advance of covid. When covid came around they held virtual classes which was fine but they made no provisions for the driving part. We have been waiting six months for behind the wheel and still not scheduled. I have left messages with the office and no return calls. Other driver schools are completing the class and behind the wheel working same month. Do not use this business.
Fantastic experience: They are a really good driving school to work with
Negative experience: After ready the complaints i don’t think I will be going here does anybody have any recommendations on a better school.
Fantastic experience: I had Coach Owens as my drivers ed teacher for the BTW portion, he was a great teacher and hilarious. Taught me everything properly and made me confident enough to drive on the road!
Negative experience: Very unorganized.
Fantastic experience: I had driving instructor Mr.Owens and he was a great teacher I learned a lot and still had fun in the process. I recommend taking drivers ed at pc.
Fantastic experience: Lewis Owens was the best driving instructor. He made me feel comfortable and not stressed out about driving. He told funny jokes to break the ice.
Fantastic experience: I go to Athens Drive and I had Coach Ray, i overall had a good experience and i learned a lot!
Fantastic experience: My instructor Maurice Frink. I attend Thames academy. Very straight forward, observant, and informative. Amazing teacher.
Fantastic experience: I drove with Bake at Southeast Raleigh HighSchool. He was a very good teacher I recommend him !
Fantastic experience: It was good
Fantastic experience: Dymyr Mack Mr.Hunter was the best at Middle Creek High School and easily got me through the class and behind the wheel
Fantastic experience: As a person who was scared to sit in the drivers seat Ms. B helped me to get over my fear and drive safely.
Fantastic experience: I am a student at Vernon Malone College and Career Academy. My instructor Maurice Frink was a great instructor. He helped me learn the basics of driving and didn’t get too frustrated if it took you some time to figure something out. He was very helpful in my driving experience and if I were to do it over again I would love to have him as my instructor.
Fantastic experience: Mr. Thompson with wake forest high school was an amazing drivers instructor.
Fantastic experience: I drove with Coach Robinson at Panther Creek High. I had a great experience with him and I feel very confident in my driving. He made sure I was very comfortable and calmed me when I was uneasy. Overall it was a great experience!
Fantastic experience: i did it at panther creek high school with Mr. Robinson!
Fantastic experience: Miss sherry Pearce form East Wake High was a good driver instructor and she help me out a lot
Fantastic experience: I did drivers ed at panther creek with Coach Rob, he was a very good teacher and helped a lot!
Positive experience: Mrs Brockington was my teacher. It was pretty good I liked how it wasn’t that long of a time. Also we get good experiences driving on the road. Lastly I would say that you learn more in the car than in the class because you are doing it hands on.
Positive experience: It's alright they wouldn't let me go pee But I passed so it's ok
Fantastic experience: I have to pee
Fantastic experience: I had Darryl Robinson as an instructor, he gave me confidence to get on the road and be a defensive driver.
Negative experience: No wonder why the review is crap lol this place does truly suck. The classroom version was really pleasant and a police officer taught mine. I enjoyed that aspect but when it came to the driving portion, they cannot do their job properly. When I called, they asked for my name and I legit spelled it out letter by letter but it took a solid 10 mins just for them to get my name correctly. I’m not sure if the front desk had a hard of hearing or just really poor quality phones. After that they told me there was no way to accommodate to my conditions for scheduling driving and honestly looking at the reviews, I don’t know if I want them to teach me. Yes is cheap but is it worth it? No not really.
Negative experience: Want to traumatize your child? This is the perfect place for you then! The teachers can't even teach properly and don't even get me started on the behind the wheel! They yell at you as if you're a experienced driver taking them somewhere. It's not even proper criticism and at least 1/3 of students who took this probably cried cause of them. It should be a good experience that you can remember for a lifetime not one where you want to get it over with and remove from your memory.
Negative experience: DO NOT SIGN UP so disrespectful I called and told her that I wasn’t gonna be able to make it because I got in a accident and she hung up
Fantastic experience: My name is Scarlet Velasquez & I took drivers ed at Olympic High School with Miss. Pam Johnson. She’s a really good instructor & helps her students, with patience, through the whole process.
Negative experience: Are there any other options? My daughter wants to sign up, but I am terrified after reading these reviews?
Fantastic experience: My daughter was very nervous but Mrs Clark gave her confidence. Mrs Clark was so nice to allow my daughter to drive home in order to complete her time and also avoid the necessity to take the public bus back to the house. I am very please with the service and the fees are very reasonable for the hustle.
Negative experience: “I'm thinking I want to completely drop driver's ed at school. I have this really really intense feeling of dread about going to it today right now and I just don't want to put up with that feeling anymore.” This after only several days of class at a CMS high school. Jordan instructors rude, cruel, and generally awful teachers. DO NOT use these people if you have ANY other options. We’re going with a different one.
Negative experience: Jordan's Driving School is the WORST driving school! Lack of classes and slow to process. CMS uses Jordans Driving School so I felt it was best to go through them. My daughters birthday is Decmber so she was eligible over to start over the summer. I tried to find a summer class for her to take and none were ever posted, I assume they were full? I checked periodically at the beginning of school and finally found classes posted in November. I signed up for the next available which was in January, AFTER she turned 15..I couldn't believe they had such a minimal amount of classes and no order in which kids could sign up...kids 14.5 were taking spots older kids then couldn't get into. Then my daughter took the "classroom" portion in January in which the teachers were extremely rude and threatened to make my daughter have to reregister and retake the class due to not being able to get into the school because of locked doors. We were there early and once we finally found a way in she was less than 5 minutes late and they hadn't taken roll! Further complaints about the class include teachers skipping portions of the lesson to finish on time and stating that will be on the test but they didn't cover the material, nor could she take a book home to study. She completed the classroom portion and wasn't given any certificate stating that she passed or completed that part of the program. We had to just trust they did their paperwork correctly. We were told they would contact us to schedule the "driving" portion. I called the office repeatedly about scheduling this portion and was told not to worry, she's on the list to complete that portion in April. I was already upset that it was several months after the classroom portion! We finally received a call mid-April from a gentlemen that conducts the driving class, not a call from Jordans. We scheduled to have our daughter take the class May 1-4. We did not receive any email or confirmation this was our scheduled time and was told this was the only form of communication I would receive and she should plan to stay after school those days and I needed to pick her up at the school after the class ended. It is now April 29th, 2 days before her scheduled so I called the instructor to confirm our original plans he stated he has since retired and is no longer a driving instructor! I can not believe NO ONE from Jordan's nor the instructor called the cancel and reschedule our driving portion of the class! My daughter was planning to stay after school for to meet him and no one would have been there! The entire process has been extremely stressful and we are so disappointed. There are plenty of other driving programs available, which I have since learned about and know a ton of people who use those because of how bad Jordan's is!
Fantastic experience: I saw a lot of bad reviews about this school, but I honestly don’t have a single bad thing to say. If I ever had a question, they got back to me quickly. They were extremely prompt about every scheduling, to the point that I didn’t have to wonder when/if something might be scheduled. Ms. Butts was my daughter’s instructor, and she was nothing but kind and professional with me. My daughter adored her. She commented multiple times about how nice she is, and how calming her voice is. I chose this school because of the convenience that they work within CMS’s system, and I would whole-heartedly recommend them because I had such a positive experience, and more importantly, my new driver had such a great experience.
Negative experience: Terrible but the only option
Negative experience: My btw instructor was extremely rude. He gave information contradicting the info taught in the in-class portion, only cared about his job, and would fuss at me for anything. He would often stop for 20 minutes for A SNACK BREAK! And the students weren't allowed to have food with them in the car. He refused to let us keep a reasonable following distance and instead had us 5 car lengths back. He bragged more about being the best instructor there than he did actually teach, and didn't even go over some of the required curriculum because he was worried about wrecking and losing his job. I've got many more complaints, but it would take forever to type them all. Just know that I would give this place 0 stars if I could.
Fantastic experience: I will update this review, but I just wanted to share that I had a positive experience on the phone with Jordan's Driving School. I called to check on the status of my son's behind-the-wheel scheduling. Everyone was very professional, they confirmed our contact information, and I was encouraged to call back if I didn't hear from the instructor by the beginning of next month. We had been told it would be 3 or so months and the start of next month will be within the three-month time frame, so that seems reasonable. My son didn't seem to mind the class (taken over Winter Break), and I've noticed that he mentions things he learned when he is with me in the car. I just wanted to provide this positive feedback. Hopefully it is a sign of a positive pivot on the company's part!
Negative experience: Daughter was to meet the driving instructor at 2pm today at Philip O Berry. I drove around the building several times because he didnt give exact location at the school to meet. It is 2:35pm and we've been here since 1:55pm and I'm waiting still. It is so unprofessional not to show or call. Waiting 30 minutes is being nice however I'm not feeling as nice. We are leaving!! Monday I will be filing a formal complaint!!!!
Negative experience: They don’t ever answer the phone
Negative experience: Dont answer the phone at all took the class in june and haven't took btw yet
Negative experience: This company is horrible my daughter took the April class and still hasn't received a call for behind the wheel and the excuse is they put the springbreak class before this class for behind the wheel ... I want my money back I should have just paid the cost for another school I guess you get what you pay for if I could give no star theirs would be -100
Negative experience: Another 1 for the record ! I didn't want to believe what others said but I encountered all the problems the others listed - months between 30 classroom hrs and driving and then they dont call u,, u gotta call them.......Pitiful Excuse For A Biz
Negative experience: This was the worst 30 hours of my life. I hate this place and all the teachers. They are just people that can't get any other job other than this. They are to poor to make any new videos so they use videos from the 90's. The teacher I had had no idea what she was talking about and I would not feel safe in her car. I wouldn't feel safe in that car with anyone. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The zoo would be a better place to take this class.
Negative experience: This school is terrible. It took 5 months in between the in class and behind the wheel. We literally had to put our hazards and horn on for everything. (Seriously we had to do that when pulling out of a parking space or overtaking someone.) The cars always break down too, my behind the wheel was delayed a month because the car broke down. When The instructor and I went to do a check around the car, I opened the hood and checked fluids, the coolant top was open and had barely any fluid in it, also it had 2 quarts too much oil. I guess thats why the cars always break down.
Negative experience: I have had 2 kids go through the program and they have the worst customer service and outdated system I have ever dealt with. They say don't call them, they'll call you to schedule Behind the Wheel but they never call. When you call them they say "Oh you were on our list to call this week." Really?! That's what you said when I had to call you with my last kid and what you said a few months ago to my neighbor." You can't schedule on-line, you have to wait for the instructor to call you and verbally give you dates and if you can't do those dates, you go to the back of the line. It's like scheduling something in 1970! There is more to my negative experiences but it's too much to type. Thank goodness I am done and do not have to deal with them ever again. If you can, go to a private driving school. Our driving instructor, Ms. Lee was great and we did like her. The only positive.
