Positive experience: I was going to get a motorcycle license, so I registered on MSS. I paid $398 on 02/22/24. They can provide motorcycle learning and issue a temporary road-ready motorcycle license after the 14-hour course. . I went to participate in their course offline on 03/30. Half an hour after the course started, the instructor thought that I did not understand the proper nouns related to motorcycles and banned me from participating in subsequent courses on the grounds of unsafe driving. He asked me to find a translator in 4 I took the course again on 6/24, and I confirmed again and again that the new course was on 4/6/24 and was free. So I signed the contract. I called the MSS office on Monday, 4/1/24, and asked to change the course time to 4/6/24. The office told me that if I wanted to change the time, I would need to pay the entire bill again and the time could only be chosen in the middle of the week instead of mid-week. On the weekend of 4/6/24, when I raised a objection, they said they could give me a $150 discount. This is an outright scam. So in the end they refused to provide me with services, which violated the Consumer Rights Protection Act, and privately deducted money from my savings card on 5/15/ and canceled the bank's claim, which was an invasion of consumer privacy. finally they help me to find out what should i do next

Fantastic experience: I took a private 2 hour lesson with Joel at their Bronx location yesterday. I already have a motorcycle license but had only driven a scooter and was very nervous about shifting/clutching/using my feet/etc - all of the stuff that it turns out makes driving a motorcycle really fun! Joel is an excellent teacher. He knows how to effectively communicate ideas. He’s super positive and high-energy without being silly. He was able to anticipate the things I’d be stressed about and defuse my nerves about them. And he backed off and let me do my thing when I needed some time to just ride around a bit with his new info in my head. There was a crazy downpour of rain for about ten minutes in the middle of the lesson so I ended up indoors with all of the group class people for a bit while we waited it out, and they were clearly all having a good time too. I highly recommend these people. I’ll be back!

Fantastic experience: I recently took a course with the instructors at the motor safety school, and I couldn't be more satisfied. Their expertise and experience as motorists are evident in every lesson. They quickly identified and helped me correct my bad riding habits, providing clear and practical advice. Thanks to their guidance, I feel significantly safer and more confident on the roads. I highly recommend their training to anyone looking to improve their riding skills and road safety awareness.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience. Ali and Dmitriy really know how to teach and really do care about making sure you know what you're doing before you go out on the street. They make sure you understand what's going on before they move on and if you don't you'll either be there till you do or you'll be doing push ups like I was for forgetting to turn the bike off hahaha. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to ride or just wants to have the skill of riding a motorcycle under their belt. The money was very well worth it and I've learned a lot of things I would've never even thought about. And they provide the bikes so you don't have to worry about messing yours up (if you have one), you can feel comfortable destroying one of theirs!

Very recommended for anyone who cares about own safety, getting the right skills and riding motorcycle in New York hectic environment, and believe me, all the instructors know what they are talking about!! I can not stress enough on how important these courses are, instructors really do care about each and every rider and want you to succeed, providing you with the right knowledge and reality check!!! Thank you guys for your dedication and "Jimmy's voice in my head from now on :) " when riding a motorcycle :) I see you on intermediate/advance course soon!!

Fantastic experience: I took Motorcycling 101 as wells as MSF BASIC RIDERCOURSE last weekend and I have to say it was a great experience. Instructors Neville and Eli were great, patient, knowledgeable and gave instructions that were easy to follow. Overall I'm very happy that i completed the course and got my waiver. Had a lot of fun learning and can't wait to get my own motorcycle. If you're looking to start your motorcycle journey look no further!

Fantastic experience: Just had my first private lesson at the Lehman College location with Gary. I came in with zero motorcycle experience and left excited to come back in the spring for more lessons and other courses offered. Gary was very knowledgeable and patient, with his guidance I was able to have an very informative and enjoyable experience. I wish I had learned of the school sooner, I will definitely be back in the spring to get another lesson with Gary or Yoda.

Negative experience: The first impression I had here was horrible, taking the first test at MSS. It’s not the facility itself but some of the instructors I dealt with in the Brooklyn area. I failed due to the miscommunication and aggressiveness of my instructors that day, most specifically the male instructor. I know I passed but was failed due to it not being to his liking. There was two classes in the other side their was instructor disrespecting there students. Verbally by cursing, such as stating they were F’ing stupid, etc. The second time I took the test, my instructor Yoda was absolutely amazing. He was calm and collected while teaching his students, very professional and respectful. I can say that he is the best instructor I U should write that u don’t appreciate the constantEspecially since U already told them u were not going to change the initial review u wrote harassment very much advise others to seek him out! Second chance I pass my test ❤️ Edit: I paid for this, naturally I have the opportunity to retake but you DIDN’T help me nor did so. The instructors were not knowledgeable at all and your company ‘accommodated’ me when they found out I was taking private classes elsewhere after being informed of the issues with the bikes your company provided! There was 12 people only 4 passed the exam, that’s how bad the instructor was. Let me make something clear You spoke to your instructors after I personally reached out to you that they were being disrespectful. It was unprofessional that your company was calling me after my initial comment asking for me to change the reviews . I don’t appreciate the constant harassment !

Motorcycle Safety School Office

Dear Jenny, After reaching out to you several times, we did try as best as we could to accommodate your concerns regarding the bike you rode, as well as your retest requests, which you and I verbally agreed was the best resolution to the situation. I do not recall discussing about instructors cursing at other students during the course, but rest assured that we do speak with our instructors to ensure we are constantly improving our learning environment per student feedback such as yours. Additionally, we are required to follow the DMV testing requirements. Although you felt that you may have passed, the instructors must adhere to the DMV standards and per the DMV standards, you received a failing score. I am glad to hear that you passed the retest. Please all me at 718-599-1079 if you would like to discuss further. David

Fantastic experience: Had an excellent experience at the Basic Rider Course with Boris. He was an excellent instructor; very patient, able to explain things in different ways, and valuing safety above all else. I learned a lot and feel confident enough to get my own bike and continue practicing!

Fantastic experience: The instructor Jenkins was very inconsiderate gentleman. Firstly, all the bikes were not same, he had all irregular bikes. So you don’t know what bike you are getting. Lastly, he doesn’t instructs you with the proper guidance. No one really understood what instruction he was giving. He wasted my time and energy. Keeps you waiting too for no good reason and denies at the end. He walks pass by you as if he never told you to wait. Honestly, i have been riding bike since I was 18. However, it is not Motorcycle Safety School fault. They are very concerned about their services. The people in the office also very nice and helpful. Thanks for solving my problem

Fantastic experience: All of the Instructors were very great at delivering comprehensible guidance especially as first-time riders. Very knowledgeable with years of experience of riding, and they definitely help with developing confidence for riding. After getting my license from them, going back to sharpen my skills as a first-time rider before I purchase my bike.

Negative experience: If you want quazi-military, boot-camp style training, this is the place for you. I took the MSF Basic Rider (crash) Course 2 which consists of two days (roughly 8 hours each) of training with a road test at the end and DMV road test waiver card if you "pass". (More on that quotation later) Be prepared to potentially be screamed at by your drill instru... I mean DMV Certified instructors for every error you make. Maybe some ridicule for not having the ability of perfection after and hour or more of experience. Is it your first time riding a motorcycle? Pff, too bad. Are you trying to keep your focus on the obstacle course? Good luck. The added bonus of the instructor's mind games might provide an unnecessary challenge. All that aside, I did learn some crucial riding techniques. The staff did provide a few important insights on correcting my techniques for riding on New York roads and highways in their classic cinema boot camp style (Think "Full Metal Jacket"). In my opinion, this course was too dense for the amount of time given to have a lasting effect. But, if you can endure the above, you'll net yourself a DMV Licsence Waiver Card that you can redeem at the DMV for a license and get all the practice you can legally get on the road or a parking lot. Anything short of not crashing, burning, and taking out a few of your classmates will guarantee a "passing grade". Don't believe me? See for yourself. Avoid this school. There are other schools in the NYC area that could offer a better experience.

Fantastic experience: Finally took the BCR 2 day riding course at Kingsborough Communuty College!! Cold tired and relieved !!! Neville Elder, instructor…….. really eased a 2 month course into 2 days, in such a way that it was not overwhelming. Along with (Yoda) and all the assistants, we were taught and pushed and rewarded with a great experience!! If you want to ride, and want to do it right, take this course. These guys care so much and really get you through it. Can’t say or thank them enough!!! Go get that waver for your motorcycle license…. You’ll be glad you did!!

Negative experience: They canceled my class with less than 48 hours notice and didn't have any openings for another 6 weeks. Just before I was scheduled to take the new class, I broke my foot. When I tried to reschedule, they said I could pay $110 rescheduling fee or $135 cancellation fee because it was less than 10 days notice. I asked them if they could would allow me to reschedule with no fee if I provided a doctors note. A few back and forth emails with Andrew Li, basically stating that I signed an agreement and would have to pay a fee regardless. So, let me get this straight...you can cancel with less than 48 hours notice but If I try to do the same thing, I'd have to pay a fee? I would understand if I was just flaking on the course, but I have a broken foot! Just seemed totally unreasonable.

Fantastic experience: Just attended one day waiver training that started 7 AM of very cold morning. Both Ali and Neville were truly professional instructors. They were tough on both Exercise and then evaluation. They been watching our every move even when we thought that there weren't. Thumbs up to these brilliant champs and good luck to every new trainee.

Fantastic experience: Did the 101 with Dimitry; he was fantastic. Aside from clear instruction he has a way of motivating and instilling confidence that was very admirable! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I signed up for the MSF Ultimate Training Package at Kingsborough Community College, Brooklyn. After taking the 101 intro portion I signed up for some private classes to get more familiar with the mechanics of riding a motorcycle because I was a first time rider. I was paired with Instructor Dmitriy Shraybman. He is an excellent teacher. He takes his time explaining how the bike works, gives best practices, and explains why the techniques he teaches work. He gauges the class on how you progress and bases the next class on improving weaknesses. I have spent 6 hours working with Dmitriy and now feel fully prepared to take the Basic Rider Course. If you are considering private lessons seek out Dmitriy.

Fantastic experience: Took a 2 day basic riding course and boy am I not only sore but my brain is fried from all the accelerated learning. This course is a must, even if you need a refresher. This course exceeded my expectations and I can confidently say I finally know how to ride a motorcycle without hesitation. However, credit is due where credit is due. I wouldn't have been this comfortable without my instructors especially Yoda who I had for both days. From his valuable words of wisdom to his skill of breaking down lessons to help his students reach full potential, I have to say I wouldn't have done it without u, thank you!

Fantastic experience: I just completed my Motorcycle Basic Training with Andrew (Yoda) and Dimitri and all I can say it was a pleasure learning from those 2 guys. It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend anyone looking to learn how to ride a bike definitely go to MSS at Kingsborough.

Fantastic experience: I took the MSF course couple years ago at this location. I had a great experience taking the course & I received my permit at the end. The instructors were all very cool that thought me I am jot just saying that and have never seen any of them since. I had purchased my own leather gloves, Jacket, Arai helmet and riding sneakers pre doing the course. I was safety focused pre learning. One mistake I learned really quick on the course was I grabbed front brake turning nearly dumped the bike but didn’t! I always highly recommend the course to curious future riders its a great experience. The course gave me the confidence to go buy a 2020 Yamaha R6 without riding one before or test riding. Rode the bike from Queens to Manhattan had never rode on a main road, took it easy riding home with a big smile on my face. Today I am happy out on my R6 almost 6k covered in NY & CT about to buy a Ducati V4 as my second bike. I will be back soon to take the advanced rider course and then on to the race track

Positive experience: Amazing coaches ( Elliot Perez and Yoda ) very friendly and they really care about students safety and knowledge. Thanks Elliot for everything you did for us on the class!!! On the other hands, the management is the worst thing about this school.

Gina Belfiore 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Dimitry and Elliot were my instructors for the 2 day basic rider course. I had some experience but this really helped to sharpen the few skills I had and added many more. They are kind, informative, extremely helpful, all while making the course fun. I plan on going back for another class or private lesson with either of the two. Even though mistakes were made they never made you feel like you couldn’t do the exercise. They took the time to go over your mistakes and help you correct them all while keeping everyone safe. Overall it was a safe and fun learning environment and I highly recommend anyone who is torn between taking a class or not to take a class with MSS. The demonstrations and hands on experience will help prepare you to have the foundation you need to ride.

Fantastic experience: Took the BRC2 Skills Practice course at Ride MSS and absolutely loved it. If you take the course, ask for Ali (aka. Rza). He is extremely experienced and helpful. He made it a fun course and offered advice on all kinds of thing including buying your first motorcycle.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely great instructors (Elliot, Faisal and Mike) very BIG on safety equal interactions amongst the class my 1st time learning how to ride a motorcycle and I tell you everything I’ve learned is definitely part of my muscle memory now (P.S my body is totally sore ‍♂️ Which only means that the instructors teachings were very effective) thanks to their toughness . Some of us learn better when you’re a little tough on us with the passion to help us progress. The classes were nowhere near boring and we all helped and supported one another, thanks again guys for the great positive energy and the lessons, I’m a definitely try and book another lesson before the summer ends. Oh yea bring sun tan and a picnic basket, scenery is beautiful and also don’t forget a “friend” Gentlemen (instructors) salute thanks again

Kenneth 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: When I first came to MSS I didn't know anything about riding a motorcycle and when I got to my 101 class Elliot was super informative and made sure that safety was the main priority & he made the first day experience fun as hell and honestly if you never rode before I would strongly recommend getting a private lesson before your two day classes which I did and Faisal was just as informative and professional as the previous instructor it’s basically a refresher from your 101 but getting the knowledge that they give you will help you in the long run and as for the 2 day classes I had Andrew aka Yoda as our instructor and what I will say is pay attention to everything he says and if you don’t know something ask questions Yoda has no problem answering them for you he wants to make sure that you’re safe and that you’re learning… The professionalism this staff have is amazing they’re so helpful and they genuinely want to see you learn and want to help you get the experience to ride a motorcycle therefore I’ll recommend MSS to anyone that wants to learn how to ride a motorcycle and definitely will be back for private lessons to sharpen my skills

Fantastic experience: The instructors here was great. Especially Andrew St. John out of the Brooklyn location/Kings Borough CC. He went above and beyond in my opinion. After every exercise we did a recap and explained why each exercise was important. You can tell he really care about his students and is not just there for a paycheck. Anyone out there riding dirty or like me new to the bike game should definitely go to MSS. Again BIG shout out to Andrew St.John, Dmitriy Shraybman and Johnny Tsnag!!!!!! You guys rock -Extremely satisfied customer -Carnell

Fantastic experience: A fantastic learning experience thanks to great instructors! I'm the type of person that finds 'trying new things' to be intimidating, so I'm sure you can imagine how scared I was getting on a motorcycle for the first time. However, thanks to some very understanding and encouraging instructors, that fear quickly subsided. I took the Motorcycle 101 class with Elliot and found his teaching to be clear, concise, and informative, which helped me quickly become familiarized with my bike and its operation- the 101 class is a brief 'beginner's guide' of sorts with some hands-on experience . Afterwards, I took a Private Motorcycle Lesson with Dmitriy, which was a much more tailored learning experience that addresses an individual student's needs- it was more a tutoring session than a school lesson. I really enjoyed the flexibility of Dmitriy's teaching, as he focused on the things I needed to work on and that helped me quickly build up my confidence. Also of note, I've found the MSS office to be easy to get in contact with when I had questions. And, regarding my classes, I would always receive a phone reminder and e-mail about any changes or things I should know about ahead of time. Overall, a great experience because of great teachers and staff. I'll definitely be coming back to take the MSF RiderCourse for my license with Motorcycle Safety School too.

Negative experience: They make you wait and wait to get anything done and they contradict their outrageous policy as if they know their policy is terrible to follow. I’ve wasted hundreds of $$$ and time (>2 months) going back and forth with them. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! There are two other good schools in the city and just take the dmv road test and get it over with.

Fantastic experience: Took the basic rider and license waiver course down at KCC in Brooklyn.. Johnny and Neville were really awesome guys and great instructors... they were patient with everyone, very professional and kept it light and fun. I learned a lot and feel way more confident on my bike after taking the course. It’s definitely the way to go for new riders and anyone with some experience looking for the easiest way to get their motorcycle license without the hassle of the road test process here in NYC. It’s expensive but well worth the price. Can’t stress again how awesome Johnny and Neville were! Thanks again guys and see you down the trail.

Fantastic experience: I booked one hour of private lesson and the DMV road test with MSS. I already had my french driving licence at this moment and was a rider for several years. But as french living in NYC, i had to get the American driving licence. The private lesson with Andrew aka Yoda was really helpful as i could ride and try the same motorcycle provided for road test and working on what what expected specifically to get the licence. Yoda's exercises, pedagogy and advices are really consistent and efficient. Thanks also to Ali who take care of me during the road test. He helped to remind the tricky and important details you don't have to forget at the last moment. (i got the licence easily ;) )

Fantastic experience: Where can I start..if there was a 6* I would give it! I signed up for the Motorcycle 101 course in July 2020 and got Yoda as my rider coach. This guy was just super down to earth and kept it real the whole time. Yoda took his time and went thru the basics getting us familiar with the bike and its controls, I did not feel rushed at all. He also gave real life examples to make sure we all understood the seriousness of what we were getting into. Loved the class so much I signed up for the BRC the same day after getting home from 101. Update (September 2020) Arrived and found out Yoda was going to be once again my rider coach - I was super stoked! Word of advice just listen to instructors, they know what they are saying especially when they say "look where you want to go". I learned that the biggest issue i had was over thinking the simple instructions. Once you throw reason out the window, you'll do well. Long story short, with the help of great people I passed and got my waiver! Thanks MSS

You won’t regret. Plus he has the best stories.

Fantastic experience: I took both the intro and basic rider course. I would recommend it for any new riders (young or old). It is a must. If any parents are looking for a place to teach their son or daughter, this is the place. My main instructor, James, was very clear that safety was the main goal. But he also made it exciting and fun. Between Ali, JP and James the class felt very welcome into the motorcycle community.

Brandon Duplain 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I decided to sign up for the Basic Rider Course, and it was a great decision. All of the instructors (Johnny Tsang, Frank Smalls and Andrew St. John) were awesome to work with, made the boring stuff fun and memorable and made everyone in our class feel included and more confident on and around the bike. If you’re even thinking of getting a motorcycle take the class, it’s fun you’ll learn a lot, and come out ready to make good decisions.

Fantastic experience: I cannot stress enough how positive the experience with MSS has been; from the scheduling to the instruction everything is clear and direct. The staff is knowledgeable and fair. James in particular is primarily concerned with making sure you understand the information and maintain safety as your top priority. He also goes out of his way to establish a relaxed learning environment, considering the amount of information and expectations this is beyond ideal. Do yourself a favor and learn with MSS, you'll be glad you did!

Fantastic experience: I just got done with the 3WRC on 8/18-19/18. I was expecting a really serious program, but it was so much fun and easy to get through! A lot of information when you're riding is the same as driving. Our instructor, Andrew St John, aka "Yoda", was the best one to have! He made sure everything was easy to understand and we had fun doing things. I'm a nervous test taker and I did well! Passed the written test with a 91% and the riding test with only a single 5pt penalty, and I'm a first time rider! I definitely recommend MSS to anyone who wants to learn to ride!

Positive experience: After an original bad review I have to say these guys turned things around and helped me out. I would just recommend that policies be made a bit more flexible and the organization focuses on being customer-centric. Thank you for the help!!

Fantastic experience: Best Decision I ever made was to go to this MSS in Spring Creek. Bruce, Joseph, Andrew, Peter, all of them are lovely and prepare you before its too late. Thank you MSS for saving lives and not even knowing it! I appreciate their patience, enthusiasm and passion. School is important, and you've got nothing to lose. Expensive but every dollar is worth it when it pertains to adding knowledge to yourself!

Fantastic experience: I took the Staten Island course and I had a very good experience with the instructors and the area where we practised. The instrcutors (Jeff, Ray, Antonio) were all knowledgeable with the content and also from their experience as riders. Classroom setting in the morning then riding in the afternoon. The instructors were very good at spotting each individuals strong and weak spots and they'll critique you on that which is a good thing. They teach you how to ride safely and responsibly. I would recommend people who are interested to sign up.

Positive experience: Signed up for the Bronx location. Day one classroom with Bret and while the material was dry he kept things moving and emphasized important concepts. Day one road instruction with Bret and Jimmy who were both very attentive and helpful, with corrections and guidance given to each student. Jimmy could be a bit blunt (maybe even snarky) but he must ensure everyone is following directions and maintain safety, and to be fair he was very encouraging and engaging. Day two classroom with Scott who talked more about his riding abilities and his girlfriend than any meaningful material. Day two road instruction with Jimmy and Scott. Jimmy was running the show, with Scott mostly demonstrating the course precisely and bit too quickly for the beginners. Scott really failed the students by offering very little feedback to riders and mostly standing around texting and either talking on the phone via ear piece or listening to music the whole time. At the end of the day the course served it's purpose, and I left with a road test waiver.

Fantastic experience: Just finished my course. All coaches are great but if you are lucky to be taught by Joseph, it'll also be some real fun. I could listen him forever. He's the best coach I've ever had. It looks impossible to put so much meaningful and important information into your head within a few hours but he does do it.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience. I took the 2 day class to get it over with and it was well worth it. All three of the guys who were instructing had their own insight into all the ways that i could improve my form and posture in tight turns at speed and general safety through quick manoeuvres without panicking. All the guys were keenly observing how i was performing the whole time and had poignant comments for how i could better fix all the bad habits i had picked up and it was really enlightening and they really eased my mind and got me to feel relaxed on the bikes. Thanks so much They also told me that the bikes shouldn't feel like the ones we were practicing on so normally the front brake shouldn't be sticky like the two bikes i was trying to learn on nor should the clutch be so loose. But apparently there was potentially a light at the end of the tunnel (at the spring Creek location) on that account since i think the fleet of bikes is being replaced. I got a $6/mo. premium reduction on my insurance as well. which was nice.

Fantastic experience: Took a private class. The instructor was highly knowledgeable, patient, intuitive. I highly recommend you ask for Joseph. I walked away with a wealth of information and confidence in my newly acquired skill. Will recommend MSS to all my friends. Thanks again Joseph.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. I never had experience riding any type of motorcycle and MSS taught me all the fundamental basics to boost my confidence and become street legal in 2 days. The administration office is professional and friendly, but the actual training locations are mind-blowing. The Sprink Creek location is simply the best!! The instructors are mad chill and answer all your questions thoroughly and professionally. Ray and Zaid especially. Those guys are freakin' awesome and I couldn't have asked for a better learning experience!
